I like to highlight all the positives first. Parking was easy. Ordering was seamless. And the few employees I talked to or made eye contact with were nice enough. But the food... was so bland? Like there was no flavor at all?! I got a bacon breakfast burrito with fries and it was just tasteless? There was no salt on the fries or seasoning at all in the burrito whether the eggs, potatoes or bacon. The bacon was VERY crispy which is usually always an amazing thing but I think I scratched the roof of my mouth a bit bc the bacon was more on the crouton extreme of crispy. And.. it just wasn't clean. Even though I saw an employee actively cleaning and sweeping inside it's just not a place I'd ever choose to eat in. Which makes me think if I can't eat inside I probably shouldn't eat there at all? But all in all a classic spot for a reason and a place I think everyone should try at least once to say they've had it. This is becoming my to-go late night, pick-up-on-the-way meal. I get a veggie burger for my partner, and a fish burrito for me. The fish burrito has fried pieces of fish in it (probably frozen cod fillet type stuff), and fresh veggies with a tartar-type sauce. It's really nice and refreshing. The back enclosed patio has a couple of tables. The pick up occurs inside but they have speakers so you can hear it sitting outside. It is hefty and they keep it simples with potato's, eggs and sausage. 5/5 The carne asada burrito was dry and just a weird take on carne asada burrito. It was very simple with rice beans and chunks of meat. The meat was dry and in huge chunks which is not what I would normally see in a carne asada burrito. 2/5 The chili cheese fries had a lot of potential. It was relatively small for a large and was loaded with chilli and cheese. The chilli has been sitting there for a while. We got some burnt crispy chilli. Tried this place based on comedian Bobby Lee saying it's his favorite, but we were both fairly disappointed. Long story short, the staff are friendly but shout and speed everyone through like it's a manufacturing line in a factory, the annoying loud speaker announcing orders every 60 seconds is on max volume for no reason at all and makes it not enjoyable to eat there, and when you get your food, literally nothing is seasoned and it's all bland as heck. I can only speak to the veggie breakfast burrito but looking at other reviews, it seems like this place doesn't season or flavor anything and they probably rely on the meat sauces to give all the flavor which is sort of lazy cooking strategy. I was craving Lucky Boy since I haven't had it in about 4 years. So when I was in the Pasadena area, I stopped by to get pick up some deliciousness for lunch. I ordered the famous breakfast burritos. I ordered one with bacon and one with sausage. The size of the burrito is pretty much the size of your forearm packed with lots of sausages and bacon. It might be a little bit expensive but you definitely get what you pay for. I also order their chili cheese fries, which is a must because I saw it on almost every table. It was so cheesy and delicious. I also got their onion rings and their zucchini fries. We enjoyed them both as well. The only thing I didn't like was that they only gave you one red or one green sauce for your burritos and if you want extras, you would have to pay for it. I trusted the recent 5 star review raving how it's "still" amazing, but I should've trusted the recent photos showing the inconsistent portions in the breakfast burrito. Honestly, I thought to myself that maybe I'd be the fortunate one to get a great meat, egg to hash brown ratio but unfortunately I was the unlucky one. The full size sausage is just one, maybe two of the sausage tiny links from Denny's (not actually from Denny's but giving you an idea of what it looks like) The hashbrowns and eggs lacked seasoning (see photo). We waited a few minutes at the window to ask for green salsa since they automatically gave us red salsa and walked away just as fast as they set the food down. Finally when someone came back & we quickly asked for green salsa, he very rudely and abruptly said they were out. He made it seem like it was the most annoying question to be asked. Tip: tape a piece of paper on the window saying "no green salsa today" then you won't have to be bothered by questions. My boyfriend said the burrito would be worth it if it was under $10 since it is very large. (It was right under $12 for 1 breakfast burrito so idk how that yelper got 2 for $16.) For the value (under $10) it would be worth it, but for taste, I'd probably pay $7 since I'd have to season it heavily myself. They also charge extra for more salsa. I care more about flavor than portion size. I ate less than half cause every bite was just disappointing. The hashbrown gets seasoned on the grill but they put tons of hashbrown on the grill that only a portion ends up getting the seasoning/crisp so hopefully you get a good scoop. I had a $5 breakfast burrito in Santa Ana be better than this (forgot the name but it's near city hall and they have a $5 burrito sign on their lawn) I've also had $11-15 burritos (Huntington Beach- (Succulent & Boardriders) & (Long Beach -EggBred) that are way tastier with better salsa. Boardriders doesn't charge extra for salsa. Succulent does, not sure about EggBred. Succulent's salsa is the best out of the 3 though, but all 3 salsas of Boardriders taste great. Lucky Boy's was packed with people. The lot is tiny, but we got lucky to pull in as someone was leaving. I've no idea what everyone else ordered to make it a packed house, but the breakfast burrito is not worth the hype. If you live in Orange County, don't waste your time driving all the way out here. read more

This morning, I tried the breakfast burrito from Lucky Boy, and it is all that and a FAT SACK OF CHIPS!! The burrito itself was massive. The ratios were perfect. Not too much of any one thing. While the flavor of the ingredients was definitely there, I was a little disappointed in the lack of seasoning. A little salt and pepper at home made it pop. It came with a side of salsa, which complimented the burrito nicely. Salsa wasn't spicy, but that's what Cholula is for! Also got a side of hash browns, which were perfectly cooked but again, under seasoned (just my opinion). Service was super fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean. Will definitely be back!! I absolutely love breakfast burritos and I came across this video on Facebook highlighting what was claimed to be "Pasadena's Best Breakfast Burrito" for $11.00... I finally talked my sister to go with me and when we got there, the restaurant is small (so is their parking lot) with almost the same number of tables outside as there was inside... they were very busy around noon which seemed to be a positive and they do make breakfast burritos all day, which again, seemed to be a positive... We both ordered bacon and sausage burritos with extra crispy hash browns and two (2) medium Sprites... my sister wanted her burrito cut in half but I didn't and that's what we told them because they do ask when you're ordering... Here's where the problems started and why I gave them a low rating!!! Both burritos were cut in half and neither burrito had crispy hash browns!!! The hash browns were actually mushy!!! My sister was given a bacon and ham burrito and although they add a lot of bacon to their burritos and they chop it so it's mixed throughout the burritos, the sausages were left as whole links and placed together so when the burrito is rolled, all of the sausage is on one side and not mixed through!!! Each bite should be a mix of ingredients and not just bad sausage links!!! The scrambled eggs were over cooked and their salsa is extremely bland and if it's not going to have any spice, then just make it as a pico for more flavor and textural contrast!!! Lastly, the video on Facebook must've been very old because the two (2) burritos and two (2) drinks were more than $35.00!!! Just a complete waste of time, money and the gas it took to drive there!!! If this is "Pasadena's Best Breakfast Burrito" then that's just sad!!! These were clearly not great burritos!!!
