    Quesabirria Plate
    Sophia S.

Don't think the plate is worth the price. The side servings of rice and beans are so small. Between the two tacos one barely had any meat. The only redeeming thing was the sauce that came with it.

My daughter always gets the birria tacos from La Olla and this past visit, they made it to perfection. Wanted to share the perfectness of it and let you know that if you are craving birria and you are in the area, check them out.

Nice taco spot inside the Blossom Market Hall. We got the Birria tacos. They're good and the sauce is really spicy. Just how I like it. Beef is super juicy. Good. Not soft but not too hard. Nice flaky kind of crunch.

4 of 4 reviews, also see Blossom Market Hall, Manduyo, and Piccadilly Grace Yelp reviews. Quality/Quantity - Two Taco Plate, Birria, Al Pastor - Personally I would have ordered the 3 taco plate, but maybe my daughter did not expect to share...? Al Pastor was my favorite of the two tacos, much more flavorful and with a slight kick. Atmosphere - Small kiosk in the Blossom Market Hall. Just walk straight from the entrance and they are on your right. I believe it is the second business. Great job on this location. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8pm or 9pm, closed Mondays. There was a stage for entertainment. Today was a Friday night, so where was the entertainment? I thought this was LA? 2 floors, also a private room on the second floor for more events, or a rentable space, art gallery, etc. See website for current events. The meeting room can accommodate 60-100 people. Plenty of seating throughout. From picnic style tables, to regular tables, bar seating, etc. Also indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is also dog friendly. Large clean bathrooms. Community board, love supporting locals. I think they had free wifi...? Plenty of parking. I also like that employees have their own bathrooms, great idea! Service - Okay. There was also a team member stationed upstairs to clean and maintain the area. Security was walking the area downstairs. Self service water station. Price - $12.13 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success and good to see a second generation restaurant owner. Also cool that you are from Vietnam but grew up cooking around Mexican culture. I also like how you linked your "website" on Yelp to Blossom Market Hall. This saves time and $$.

At least please note Super Spicy on the menu then I would have avoided trying this dish?! I seriously wouldn't have bought this dish....can barely eat it. Just trying to look at the bright side of this order, I guess the dish cleared out my sinuses. They didn't state Shrimp Ceviche was going to be extremely spicy anywhere on the menu and for the 'City of San Gabriel,' this pricing as Tiffany L, of Monterey Park, another Elite wrote but I had to scroll down for her review that I can find cheaper ceviches elsewhere. Also, the salsa spiked all over my car seat when I opened the container. Pls provide a more convenient packaging. I now have to clean my car for real from the interior. Not coming back.

My friend ordered nachos from this place and shared it amongst 3 people as a snack. It wasn't bad, but I wish it was loaded more. I felt the cheese didn't melt all the way and there wasn't enough sour cream topped on. It was good as a quick snack but I think they could definitely improve on the taste. I don't believe the chips were home made, as they tasted like store bought tortilla chips. So overall, it was okay.

Asada quesadilla, Asada taco (no crema), 2 Birria tacos & Consome .
    Sandi T.

I've been here a handful of times and it's pretty good. My daughter likes the asada quesadilla, we get it for her practically every time we come to Blossom Market. My husband loves the birria tacos or the quesabirria and it's a must to order the consome as well. I usually get some asada tacos with no crema , just my personal preference! They are friendly and the food always seems fresh and consistent. It was about 20$ or so for an Asada quesadilla, Asada taco (no crema), 2 Birria tacos & Consome.

Special: three different tacos and consume

It has been barely open, and I have already eaten here twice. La Olla is a mexican food place of high quality. I come back for the strong tastiness of consome and quesabirria. It is also inside Blossom Market, which is a cool place with lots of small restaurants with a general area for everyone to eat. I love getting their day specials. You get three different tacos they list and consome. I think this is the best deal and you get to try a little bit of everything. My favorite is the quesabirria because it is full of melted cheese and the softest and flavorful meat. When dipped into consome, which is their flavorful broth, it is so delightful. In fact, I did all my tacos in the consome. I would love to take my date here. In fact, I already did! Parking is free and the lot is huge. Since it is in downtown San Gabriel, you take a short walk to the mission church/theater and make a lovely date out of it.

Holy crap they put THAT much ice! What a rip off!
    Erin W.

I can't speak for the food as I didn't get any, but don't order the aguas frescas here! My agua de sandía had an unnatural taste, I'm not sure if it's that they used a flavoring syrup or stevia, but it wasn't right. It's also way too expensive ($5) for the size, plus it ended up being mostly ice. I've been on an agua fresca kick lately and I gotta tell you: you can get a larger cup of a better tasting drink from any given taco stand.

    Chicken tinga tostada
    Les L.

The 2 dishes we tried from La Olla at Blossom Market Hall were outstanding. We ordered the Quesabirria taco and a Chicken Tinga tostada and both were fresh and flavorful. The Chicken Tinga in particular is a dish that I've never really enjoyed anywhere else but La Olla's version is tender and flavorful. The tostada in particular was just so crisp with lots of refreshing, crunchy elements. The quesabirria taco was really flavorful and delicious as well. Loved these!

    Menu and store impression
    Mike L.

tl;dr: flavors are good, consomé is excellent. Maybe the best value in Blossom Market Hall. First of all, I realized they didn't give me limes :( and I forgot to ask ;'( Asada quesadilla is slightly above the crappy ground meat-like asadas from cheap trucks. The flavors didn't really stand out (maybe slight salty? Old? I did order when they were about to close, 7:40pm)) and the meat was kinda too lean to match the cheesy aspect of this mini quesadilla. I wish they grill the Oaxaca cheese directly on the flat top grill and slap that tortilla on top to carry the cheese off the grill. A great amount of cheese tho, but slightly overpowering the smaller amount of asada. Large tortillas and small meat piles don't look attractive, but overall taste is acceptable. Tinga has the right flavors and I enjoyed this a lot. The juices from the chicken ooze out nicely and give a flavorful bite. It's not overly salty and it hits with a savory kick. I'm not sure how to describe tinga de pollo's taste but it's kinda like light stewed tomatoes with a hint of chipotle. When you eat it tho, you don't really taste the chipotle and tomato individually as much, it becomes it's own thing. Ya gotta try it to know. I do wish the sauce/meat juice was either thicker or more absorbed into the meat. The tasty juices kept dripping out with every bite. This stewed meat belongs better in a burrito for their take on tinga here. A good amount of crema and queso fresco as well. Get this. Quesabirria is on the right track for sure. The tortilla has a nice taste from the oil of the consomé, slightly crispy but also malleable. There was a load of cheeese in this one and a much more proportional amount of beef birria versus the asada. The birria is shredded and cut thinner against the grain than the usual birria I have had but this is either to make it taste more tender or it regards the cut of beef used. This has the right taste; perfect saltiness, great savory umami hits, right acidic notes, and decently juicy with every bite. It needs the consomé to complete this honestly...and maybe more onions to introduce a contrasting bite to the soft gooeyness. Pls get this. Their consomé is one of the best consomé I had in a while. Most places are either watered down or salted too much to compensate for flavors. Consomé is not exactly soup, but more like a rich broth (aka salty and heavy). Similar but not similar to au jus (meat juice dripping) as in you dip your food in it. This literally tastes like a bold version of Taiwanese beef noodle soup's broth. It's obviously slightly salty but I really like the seasonings; they chose the right blend of chiles and gave them a good roast it seems. La Olla has a great consomé that I will come just to drink this damn thing. Salsa verde is goood. Light acidity; not just a pure tomatillo taste but with a hint of mint! It's almost like Indian mint chutney but with a light spicy linger. Great umami flavor, and went really well with the tinga. I like this lot. Salsa taquera or that orange-colored salsa is pretty watery (not flavor-watered down) and the flavors are not bad (kinda hard to detect when it's that spicy). The flavor is on the right track but not too bold. Big spicy kick that goes well with the quesabirria. I really like the simple offerings, it's as if they know what they're good at (or maybe just trendy and mastered only those lmao) and not mess with what they don't know. I would come back for sure; I do wish it was cheaper but this place might be the best value in the food court. Solid 4 stars. What would make this place a 5 is if they made their own tortillas!

    ceviche
    Jeff S.

We ordered their ceviche to pair with our meal from Burnt Belly. Tbh it was pretty much like your run of the mill ceviche, with onions, cucumber, and shrimp. Flavor and spice wise, it was delicious, but I felt for the price they could've made it more substantial. Probably fish pieces or something, idk. For what it's worth, it was a solid appetizer and we wouldn't mind trying their mains the next time we visit Blossom Hall. Yelp Adventures 2022 - 2 of ??

I already came here for tacos multiple times already but felt like trying something new so I got the California Burrito. They didn't give a receipt but I am guessing it is around $12-13. And I think the tacos are now around $2.50-$2.70. They take card and cash but I believe card has tax. They have the salsas and onions/cilantro out in the table in front of the truck so you can grab yourself while waiting for the food. The food took around 10 minutes are so which wasn't bad. The California burrito was nice and big and very delicious. It comes with steak fries inside with your choice of pork or beef. I went with pork after asking the lady which one she recommended. And it was good! There is also some sauce but I couldn't tell if there was any guacamole. Maybe there was but very little. But the thicker fries was just a perfect combination with the pork and sauce. The only thing lacking is a bit more meat to balance out the fries and some guacamole. I tried a California burrito at another taco truck before but this one is so much better! I will be getting this again and try the beef. I totally recommend this taco truck for tacos and burritos! They taste authentic but just a bit pricer for the tacos. I would say it is more worth on Taco Tuesdays when it is cheaper. This is my go-to taco truck spot.

I haven't tried their fish tacos, burritos, or tortas yet but im assuming they wouldn't disappoint. Their sauce bar is basic but has everything you need. Their to-go cups are at the pick up window, probably to help with waste. I dont think their sauces are very spicy but they're fine. My fave is their salsa verde. They're open late which is nice after events. They're fast and super nice! the line can get long at times. 4/5. Would come back again.

Music plays a little louder than I like sometimes but it works with the colorful ambiance and rustic, hacienda-like architecture, and picturesque oil paintings. The Tampiqueña plate was fresh served with beans, cheese, one small enchilada, lettuce. The meat topped with cooked white onion and sliced jalapeños was tasty but not as much as the burrito. I've been wanting to stop by for a few years, but today I finally stopped with the wife and enjoyed the food and ambiance, you should stop by and try it too. Oh! I was starving. I parked and went in. I ordered 2 fish tacos and the cook instantly got 2 FRESH (not frozen) larger than expected, fish fillets, THEN dipped them into HOMEMADE BATTER right in front of me and dropped them into the fry basket. Where will you ever see that nowadays? They were ready almost instantly, and were done perfect Baja style, with lots of that good salty mayo+crema white sauce. THEY WERE AWESOME. And BIG. And would have cost WAY MORE at any other place...for $5. Really satisfying, I was NOT hungry after 2 of them. Since then I have probably been there 7 times, the quality has never varied. And they make all their own salsas, etc. I have even taken jobs down in that area just so I can eat there! ;-) The only other thing I have tried is taco de lengua, it was equally excellent, with LOTS of meat, not some skimpy little street taco thing. But just go there and see what $5 will get you with the fish tacos, this has to be the best deal in today's food world that I have found and I work all over the San Gabriel Valley and eat at dozens of places. Its not fancy though, old school with lots of handmade cardboard signs showing lots of other dishes, but this is the ambiance you will find in some of the BEST mom and pop type cafe's. The ratio of deliciousness and quality to price is insanely in favor of the customer!!
