After ordering from Wahib's Mediterranean Grill, I walked down the row of vendors and saw La Olla Cocina. Even though I had already eaten, I was craving shrimp ceviche. This spot had what I was craving for so here I am. Conveniently located inside Blossom Market Hall (BMH) at San Gabriel Mission District. Free parking is available behind the food hall. Dining seating are inside with limited seats at the outside patio. Restrooms are near the front entrance. Grateful for Wifi availability. Thank you! There was only one gentleman staff working at the time. He seemed nice. I ordered via the easy to use self-ordering kiosk instead of at the counter. I strolled through their simple, but fascinating menu. They had items that I've never heard of before such as vampiro taco and birria ramen. - Drinks (ie., horchata, agua frescas) - Plates (ie., taco, fish taco, protein of choice) - Tacos (ie., birria, asada, fish, vampiro) - Top Sellers (ie., quesabirria plate, burrito, today's special) - Specials (ie., birria ramen, nachos, shrimp ceviche) - Quesadilla (ie., mini, mini protein, flour) - Extras (ie., consome, rice, bean, chips & salsa) - Sharables (ie., birria combo, taco set) I got one shrimp ceviche which came in a decent size container with 3 tostadas. Tons of chopped up shrimps which my eldest daughter and I loved. A bit spicy to say the least... luckily, I was able to handle the heat. Otherwise, it would have been a waste to not be able to eat it. As for overall taste, I wished it had more citrus maybe more lime and some avocados. I also got one fish taco which was quite tasty especially with all the dressing on top. Unfortunately, the wait time was a bit long. It took almost 15+ minutes. I think other customers orders were made before mine for some reason. Hence, 4 stars! Birria appears to be their main specialty. They offer it in a few different variations. If you're craving for birria, this spot may be up your alley. Come on by and give them a try!

So glad to discover La Olla in the Blossom Market Food Hall . The chicken tacos with rice and beans were a perfect early dinner bite. No wait to place order on the computer screen. However, with only one person working to put together the orders placed, there was a wait. The tacos were freshly put together with one tortilla so were still hot in the take away container. The pre-prepared beans and rice were slightly warm. Diners may eat inside at the food hall tables or at outdoor tables.

Don't think the plate is worth the price. The side servings of rice and beans are so small. Between the two tacos one barely had any meat. The only redeeming thing was the sauce that came with it.

Where's the QUESO ? You be the judge.

Queso birria with literally no cheese. When the " Asian lady " confronted she began giving an animated lecture on how it's made . We will never go back . This was by far the worst queso birria experience. Ripoff .

My daughter always gets the birria tacos from La Olla and this past visit, they made it to perfection. Wanted to share the perfectness of it and let you know that if you are craving birria and you are in the area, check them out.

Nice taco spot inside the Blossom Market Hall. We got the Birria tacos. They're good and the sauce is really spicy. Just how I like it. Beef is super juicy. Good. Not soft but not too hard. Nice flaky kind of crunch.

4 of 4 reviews, also see Blossom Market Hall, Manduyo, and Piccadilly Grace Yelp reviews. Quality/Quantity - Two Taco Plate, Birria, Al Pastor - Personally I would have ordered the 3 taco plate, but maybe my daughter did not expect to share...? Al Pastor was my favorite of the two tacos, much more flavorful and with a slight kick. Atmosphere - Small kiosk in the Blossom Market Hall. Just walk straight from the entrance and they are on your right. I believe it is the second business. Great job on this location. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8pm or 9pm, closed Mondays. There was a stage for entertainment. Today was a Friday night, so where was the entertainment? I thought this was LA? 2 floors, also a private room on the second floor for more events, or a rentable space, art gallery, etc. See website for current events. The meeting room can accommodate 60-100 people. Plenty of seating throughout. From picnic style tables, to regular tables, bar seating, etc. Also indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is also dog friendly. Large clean bathrooms. Community board, love supporting locals. I think they had free wifi...? Plenty of parking. I also like that employees have their own bathrooms, great idea! Service - Okay. There was also a team member stationed upstairs to clean and maintain the area. Security was walking the area downstairs. Self service water station. Price - $12.13 + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success and good to see a second generation restaurant owner. Also cool that you are from Vietnam but grew up cooking around Mexican culture. I also like how you linked your "website" on Yelp to Blossom Market Hall. This saves time and $$.

At least please note Super Spicy on the menu then I would have avoided trying this dish?! I seriously wouldn't have bought this dish....can barely eat it. Just trying to look at the bright side of this order, I guess the dish cleared out my sinuses. They didn't state Shrimp Ceviche was going to be extremely spicy anywhere on the menu and for the 'City of San Gabriel,' this pricing as Tiffany L, of Monterey Park, another Elite wrote but I had to scroll down for her review that I can find cheaper ceviches elsewhere. Also, the salsa spiked all over my car seat when I opened the container. Pls provide a more convenient packaging. I now have to clean my car for real from the interior. Not coming back.

Nachos

My friend ordered nachos from this place and shared it amongst 3 people as a snack. It wasn't bad, but I wish it was loaded more. I felt the cheese didn't melt all the way and there wasn't enough sour cream topped on. It was good as a quick snack but I think they could definitely improve on the taste. I don't believe the chips were home made, as they tasted like store bought tortilla chips. So overall, it was okay.

Asada quesadilla, Asada taco (no crema), 2 Birria tacos & Consome .

I've been here a handful of times and it's pretty good. My daughter likes the asada quesadilla, we get it for her practically every time we come to Blossom Market. My husband loves the birria tacos or the quesabirria and it's a must to order the consome as well. I usually get some asada tacos with no crema , just my personal preference! They are friendly and the food always seems fresh and consistent. It was about 20$ or so for an Asada quesadilla, Asada taco (no crema), 2 Birria tacos & Consome.

Special: three different tacos and consume

It has been barely open, and I have already eaten here twice. La Olla is a mexican food place of high quality. I come back for the strong tastiness of consome and quesabirria. It is also inside Blossom Market, which is a cool place with lots of small restaurants with a general area for everyone to eat. I love getting their day specials. You get three different tacos they list and consome. I think this is the best deal and you get to try a little bit of everything. My favorite is the quesabirria because it is full of melted cheese and the softest and flavorful meat. When dipped into consome, which is their flavorful broth, it is so delightful. In fact, I did all my tacos in the consome. I would love to take my date here. In fact, I already did! Parking is free and the lot is huge. Since it is in downtown San Gabriel, you take a short walk to the mission church/theater and make a lovely date out of it.

Slow and below average. Unresponsive when asked for a time estimate. Spend your money elsewhere.

Simple fast Mexican food. Ordered the #3- Cheese Enchilada…read morecombo plate. It was good. But I'd say a 4 star, not 5, because it was lacking the rich red sauce I am accustomed to. More mild red, not really red enchilada sauce I'm accustomed to. And the cheese wasn't fully melted through, but the plate was hot, so maybe they figure it will melt eventually. They were nice and greeted me upon arriving and their simple salsa bar had 3 choices and some picked carrots and onions. The horchata was good. A quick affordable meal, nothing fancy, but a nice casual meal.

We ordered for pick up and had: - macho fries (they were pretty darkly fried but very soggy even though picked up within 15 mins -- they throw refried beans on them so not great if you really wanted carne asada style fries) - FISH tacos - YES I'd come back for these at $2.50 a piece - they were still crunchy by time I got home 5 mins later and had plenty of flavors - good price, - lengua burrito - lady never said the price but burrito was OK, just rice and lengua - steak combo plate - flavors were ok - macho burrito - they got this wrong bc we didn't want wet burrito but they did it anyways :( -- this was quite SALTY. OVERALL - if you're really hungry and need basic food, some dishes are better than others. I think it was OK to try this out but still going back to my old time favorite Mexican restaurant. Mom and pop -- especially mom is funny and has sense of humor. Indoors they have a few tables and they have TV playing soccer games too. They accept credit cards.
