I'm not from the area and I've had this cafe near my friend's house bookmarked for a while! I love the uncommon ingredients they have in their drinks, and I chose the Jasmine Latte ($7). You can taste the Jasmine syrup and even as a latte, it somehow also tastes like a milk tea! I'm curious to try a drink with their black sesame syrup next time. There is a parking lot at the back that we weren't aware of, so we parked around the corner on the street. A lot of seating and the high ceiling is nice, staff were friendly. My friend tried the Cloudy ($7) which is described as red date, pear, and cream, so she wasn't expecting coffee to be in it LOL. Now you know! I only wish they closed later than 4:30pm T-T
Needed a real quick pick me up after doing 2 late night Jiluka concerts in a row, driving from NorCal to SoCal and then doing a day long maid cafe event and Yihui Coffee wasn't too far and we wanted to try something new. Service is efficient and our drinks came out decently quickly. This was around lunch time on a Sunday. As with almost every new drink or coffee place, minimalist aesthetic and a place for people to study and catch up I suppose. Wouldn't say it's the most unique. We got the: 1) Hojicha Latte: -We got this iced and you have the option to sweeten it with simple syrup or something else. We got this with a black sesame flavor and just the standard milk that it came with. -Not too sweet, but the taste of the sesame or even the hojicha can be a bit stronger as we've had similar drinks to this that were more appealing. 2) Iced Chocolate Milk: -I mean you can't really mess this up to be honest. It's mixed well and doesn't taste scathingly sweet like a bottled chocolate milk. My boyfriend got a no sugar coffee here and it still tasted pretty sweet (like unadjusted Starbucks sweet) and it was just tossed into my chocolate milk because he couldn't stomach it. Overall, it's just okay. I'm not really a coffee person, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Been here a few times already and can say it is a pretty solid coffee choice. My go to is the Cloudy since it is unique. They use date syrup in the date/pear cream top and the cream is smooth and slightly fruity balancing well with the Americano. Have also tried their flat white and hojicha latte hot with simple syrup and thought they were all good quality. Only problem is that the price is on the higher side for the size. For reference, the Cloudy is 14 oz ($7) but their prices include tax so I think it is fair for the quality. Also got their regular croissants ($5.50) a couple of times and it was buttery and flaky. Parking lot in the back. Service was fast. Would definitely come back but just not often due to the price point.
Found this hidden gem. I like this coffee spot. It's simple and chill. It's not a big coffee shop, but there is about 9 small tables. They offer specialty coffee beans. Service was good. I just got a pour over and the barista taste the drink beforehand to make sure it's a good drink. The customers here were also fairly quiet and not loud. Nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee.

I was in the area on a weekday and decided to stop by before work to grab a coffee. I went at around 8:30 AM and it was busy with many folks doing work. After looking at the menu, I had a hard time trying to figure out what to get given the selection! I asked for a recommendation between drinks and they mentioned if I want a hot drink - Miso White would be good; for a cold drink - Lychee Tonic would be ideal. It was a hotter day, so I opted for the Lychee Tonic. Since it was busy, the wait was ~ 10 minutes for the drink. After giving it a try, it tasted refreshing but I didn't really get the lychee taste. Not the best first impression with the tonic. However, I'd still consider coming back considering their ambience. Also absolutely interested to try their pour over options! Parking is available in the back of the building. American Express is accepted here.
Yihui is one of my go-to coffee spots for the studyability and their good quality coffee! They have a moderate number of tables along the wall with plenty of outlets and wifi available. Workers are always friendly and give great recommendations. I have been here numerous times, and my favorite items have been their lychee tonic (though on the pricier end for $9) and the Fist Bump (small black sesame breve), but I also love their hot flat white, as it has the balance of their strong and smooth espresso flavor with the perfect balance of milk. I have also enjoyed the Cloudy, which has subtle notes of red date and pear with a cream top. The drink was nicely balanced and not too sweet. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their coffee drinks, which have strong coffee notes. I also love their coffee cakes, which tend to sell out pretty quickly by midday. The cake is rich and moist with a nice cinnamon-sugar top and pairs nicely with coffee. They have plenty of parking in the back lot. Definitely check them out if you're in the area!
Yihui is my go-to coffee spot when I'm in the area. I wish their cups were a tad bigger but overall Yihui is a quality coffee shop! I usually order the Cloudy or Fist bump. It seems like they switch off the flavor at times, but the Fist bump is the best black sesame coffee I've had! Cloudy is more of a refreshing tonic. They also offer pastries from Tropicana Bakery. There's plenty of tables to sit and yap, and I've seen people with their laptops. There's a parking lot in the back or street parking.
I'd comment most on the sizes of the drinks... they're overpriced for such a small cup. I understand if hot drinks need to be different sizes but why was my friend's iced drink also that same small size and it's not mentioned anywhere on the menu? It was such a bad experience and the drinks were 6/10 at best so I would not come back to this location.
Excellent Americano and a very nice spacious place. Love the ambience of this coffee shop, and love that they have a Slayer espresso machine, too! You can tell it's different Americano because of the more modern, foward-tasting notes that's more typical of Slayer. Slightly more woodsy, and layered than your heavier, rounded espresso drinks from a La Marzocco. The ham and cheese croissant is light, crispy, and very delicious. It's a great case of less is more when you don't need a heavy sandwich but expect delicious clean flavor. I ended up buying their Espresso Blend, and I can't wait to try it on my Profitec Go espresso machine at home.

My cousin and I ordered each ordered a pour over. I got a washed Ethiopian from BlendIn Coffee based in Houston, TX with yuzu tea and peach tasting notes. I enjoyed the citrus brightness of my pour over. The baristas at Yihui are pretty meticulous, and we received a coffee intro card with the coffee information, water temperature, and extraction time. The extra details were a nice touch. My cousin's Mexican pour over was on the nutty side. It was well-brewed, but not my favorite. Along with our coffees, we were given complimentary bites of pineapple cakes to enjoy. However, we both didn't like the after taste of the pastry, and left most of it. All in all, the baristas care about craft and their pour overs at Yihui. I would definitely recommend if you're into this type of coffee.
Sleek, spacious coffee shop in Monterey Park with a minimalist decor. It has kind of a modern hangout / collaboration spot vibe going for it. They have and serve the classic caffeinated beverages on their menu, but also have some fun, more unique beverages as well. I wanted a pick me up so I found this place when I was in the area watching a movie at a theater nearby. I ended up ordering a Lychee tonic coffee because it I was intrigued.... it was good! Definitely unique. When I visit in the future, I would love to see how they do the classics, but the Lychee tonic was definitely a fun try. The people here are friendly and work pretty efficiently - they kind of have to because this place seems to be very popular. I ended up parking on the street out front, but noticed they have a parking lot behind the building as well as an entrance on that side as well.
Coffee here is amazing. I ordered a decaf americano and was honestly impressed -- it's so hard to find a good decaf at cafes, but this one tasted just like a regular americano. Full flavor, smooth, and not watered down at all. The matcha was decent, but a bit too milky for my taste. If you prefer a richer matcha-to-milk ratio with a stronger tea flavor, this might not be your spot for matcha. Overall though, I'd definitely come back for the coffee -- especially that decaf!
04/03/26 Saturday Friend helped me order a First Bump (which has black sesame during this season). It surprisingly blend really well with the coffee and milk. It was really creamy and nutty. Pleasantly surprised and now a new favorite! I will say, for the size, $7 is a little steep, but it can be an occassional treat. I will say, I appreciated how to cup has a snap on drinking hole cover instead of the flimsy ones that don't fully close. read more
Cute little shop. They do have different types of black coffee if you prefer straight black. got the jasmine one and the cloud one to try. The cloud one tasted buttery? Was interesting. I did like the jasmine coffee though but it didnt have a strong coffee taste. Id probably come back to try their mont blac. That one looked like a cream foam on top of black coffee. Parking in the back on moore st. They have a daylight pairing that is dine it only. It looks pretty yummy. read more

Been 2-3 months since I last visited and I'm glad it's still amazing It's a small cafe and can be easily missed since it's slightly hidden amongst other businesses next to it. They're open daily - 7:30am - 4:30pm Parking is plentiful since the parking lot is spacious. Service was friendly and welcoming. Inside has a good amount of seating and power outlets, making it a great spot to hang out or study! Got the Cloudy ($7) which is an Iced Americano with red date and pear cream top. It's only available iced & 14 oz. They have milk substitutions (oat/almond) for +$1 and lactaid 2% free of charge! The coffee was quite strong but not too bitter or overpowering. The cream top was slightly thick in consistency so definitely recommend giving it a good stir prior to drinking. It wasn't too sweet and tasted very refreshing. Really enjoyed the hint of red date and pear taste! Definitely a MUST GET! Overall, I really enjoyed my drink and experience and would definitely return and recommend! read more

Ambiance: the Yihui Coffee has replaced the previous tea shop Feng Cha. It's cozy and comfortable inside, although it could be quiet for a while and then get loud from time to time. Service: very friendly and patient with questions, and the barista provided helpful suggestion Drink: classic coffee menu with their own specialities Cloudy - **** signature coffee, red date, pear, and cream, creamy and refreshing, recommend One & One - ***** a split serve highlighting rose florals and candy-toned sweetness, expressed through espresso and dirty blend composition, 85% gesha Finca El Conacaste / lumen coffee, and 15% ombligon - El Diviso / blendin coffee. It's a dine-in exclusive, very unique aroma and taste, highly recommend Price: premium quality and reasonable prices, expect $10+ per person. It's one of the best coffee shops in town, and definitely worth visiting read more

Personally, a very aesthetic pleasing coffee place that is simple and minimalistic in design without loud music or kids hanging around. I like the black, grey, and white monotone design. Its a millennial vibe coffee spot focusing on the quality of coffee. There is ample space and seating. Their staff was helpful in selecting a drink and I like how the coffee flavor notes are in the description. I got the Cloudy and it tasted great. The cream on top was not too sweet but a perfect blend with the espresso shot. Price was reasonable like other coffee places. Ham & Cheese croissant was a perfect treat with my pick me up coffee. My only gripe is the food items for the customers are stored in a plastic container on the counter next to the toasted. I think it should be kept out of site since they already have samples of them in a display case. There are numerous coffee/boba places around the area and I hope this place is successful because they are unique. Will come again! read more
A little while ago, I tried Yihui coffee! Upon walking inside, I noticed the cafe had a very monochrome look to it, but it was still cozy. I could see myself doing work here or homework too. I ordered the cloudy, which was a coffee that had flavors of pear, red date, and a cream top. It was really good!! Honestly I don't think I tasted the flavor notes, but I still thought the coffee was great. Service was good, employees were nice and they even helped me put the plastic cap on my drink when they saw me struggling lol. There is street parking, and they have a restroom down the hall if needed. read more

I love it here! LA has so many amazing coffee shops but this one is my favorite from the SGV. Not too sweet and the coffee and flavors are amazing. Ambience is great - modern and sleek. Service is always great as well. :) read more
New coffee shop in town. They have specialty coffees that are Asian-inspired, like the cloudy with dates. The menu is easy to navigate. I didn't like the matcha latte here, so I would stick with their coffee. I enjoyed the tomato egg pastry so much I got it a second time. It's good heated up! Parking was easy to find on the street. They have a small parking lot in the back. Bathroom available. WiFi available Apple Pay/credit card accepted. Indoor seating only. read more
This is a such niche and hidden away coffee spot. Quaint with small tables and chairs to build a small community of coffee lovers. At the same time we get a very minimalistic and modern spin on coffee flavors (Fist bump and Cloudy) is what I ordered. The flavor notes complements the coffee espresso extremely well. Some coffee with washed beans ushers in different flavors: nutty, fruity, floral or truffle-y. I like the truffle and the fruity (pear) undertones that the coffee provides. Each baristas are attentive and courteous. So we won't get a grumpy or someone that is just standing around. I would definitely take my family and friends here after a morning run or catching up. If you like places Mandarin coffee, or Syndicate coffee. This place gives a similar vibe. read more

Stopped in for a pick-me-up and there's some street parking or parking in the back. We got the cloudy and a matcha latte. Both were great! Smooth, prominent tea or coffee flavors respectively without overpowering (light roast), and the cloudy cream top was slightly sweet but the added salt was really good. Would definitely come back and looks like a good spot to work with a handful of tables along the wall. read more
I was nearby for some breakfast and I actually discovered this coffee shop. I was intrigued with the menu it had some amazing choices and they are known for espresso by other people's recommendation. I did get a lychee espresso tonic which was really good and refreshing and it is really bubbly too. I also got a black sesame espresso drink and that was really nutty and earthy also it was very bold with a shot of espresso. The inside has a lot of seating and it is a minimal coffee shop. For the parking you do have to do street parking in the neighborhood. The service was friendly and they were able to help with questions and making my drinks less sweet. Yihui Coffee is a sleek and minimalistic coffee shop with some nice Chinese-inspired drinks. To get here, they have a smaller parking lot in the back or street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a spacious setup with a good amount of seating. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different classic and signature drinks to choose from. I opted for the Lychee Tonic and enjoyed its unique flavor profile to start off my morning. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming and the vibes are chill here. read more

Was excited to try this new Asian inspired coffee shop but was sad that it was a bit disappointing. Parking around here is street parking but it's not hard to find. The inside of the shop has a few medium tables with a good amount of seating and fast wifi to get work done. The service here unfortunately left quite a sour taste in my mouth. When I asked for recommendations, he refused to provide me with any and when asking about the matcha he responded "it tastes like matcha...nothing special." I ended up getting the matcha latte to try. He's right that it was standard - not that good but also not bad. Not sure how the other drinks are but probably wouldn't come back due to the experience I had. read more

Had to check out the newest coffee shop in SGV! I tried the signature cloudy, which is an americano with red date and pear cloud foam. It's really unique, but the red date and pear flavor was really light. My partner got the golden co ferment, which was too sweet for his taste. It was also a unique drink, but we would get it less sweet next time. The decor is pretty minimalistic, and there are tables if you're looking for a place to study or do work. I ordered the Cloudy ($7). It's iced coffee with cream, red dates, & pear. If you've tasted standard cold brew coffee, you can immediately imagine the Cloudy. This coffee is strong, chill, & slightly acidic. Its white top is thick, dense, & soft. When thoroughly mixed together, there's a welcomed balance. I arrived at Yihui Coffee (Monterey Park) on Thursday (around 12:50PM). Parking is plentiful; however, it's very hidden. The parking entrance is located on Moore Street, and customers will find a private parking lot behind Yihui Coffee (Monterey Park). When I spoke to Staff, they confirmed that the private parking lot is associated with their business. There's also no time limit. Staff is professional, welcoming, and hardworking. Staff (receipt says Yao) offered pleasant, efficient service. Yao offered the option for "To-Go" or "For Here." Since I selected "For Here," I received a glass cup for my beverage. My order took two minutes and 43 seconds. Very fast! As mentioned, I ordered the Cloudy ($7). It's presented attractively. The Cloudy ($7) contains a smooth burnt taste. The pear is very faint, but the dried bits of sprinkled red dates add texture & give much needed sweetness. The caffeine is standard, and the Cloudy feels like a functional, no-nonsense drink. Concerning ambiance, Yihui Coffee (Monterey Park) is a college student's paradise. The location has 10 electrical outlets for devices. These outlets even have usb ports for charging cables! The location also includes customer internet with password (displayed on counter's glass), and there's a gender neutral restroom. The location is very spacious with a very tall ceiling. There's also 10 tables inside with many seats. The music is also very soft, and the location resembles the atmosphere of a campus library. Customers almost appear hesitant to break the silence as they worked quietly on their devices. However, Yihui Coffee (Monterey Park) can get full very quickly. When I'd arrived, almost all their tables were in use. Luckily, I found a few seats. Also, Yihui Coffee (Monterey Park) is very minimalistic. Its interior is plain and somewhat ugly; it resembles a clearance outlet warehouse. Fortunately, the place is very clean, well-ventilated, and comfortable. Overall, Yihui Coffee (Monterey Park) offers functional coffee, comfortable work spaces, and professionalism. Popped up on my yelp search and was excited to give it a try from all the other positive reviews. I did not have the same experience or taste buds.. Drinks are quite overly priced, they about the size of a 12 oz soda can. Mist (coconut water, ceremonial matcha)- disgusting.. also not worth the price. They use Vita Coco Coconut Water. I've had and enjoyed that brand of coconut water often (Costco lover here) but this drink was not it. It was off, almost stale and slightly sour. Wouldn't order this again. Cloudy (cream topped coffee)- description is red date and pear, there were bits of something floating around the coffee. But the coffee itself was way too citrus, tangy, almost sour for my personal taste. Also wasn't very enjoyable. Hojicha Latte -surprisingly the best of 3 drinks I ordered. The Cloudy is perfectly smooth, slightly acidic, and not too sweet. The date flavor brings out the frutiness of the coffee without overpowering. The cream is like sea salt foam and it's so impressively silky. The drink is only 14 ounces at $7, but I think it is worth it. This is probably one of my favorite drinks in LA now! There are a lot of two-person tables but they were largely occupied by solo folks working. FYI they charge tax for dine-in cups but not for take-out. There's also parking in the back. read more

Went once recently with my husband on a Saturday morning and it was busy!! Almost all the tables were taken and a line quickly gathered behind us. Decor is very minimal, modern and clean. Coffee is brewed to order and they even do drips. Sell high quality teas and whole coffee beans but does not roast their own. There is a selection of pastries. Personally, croissant lightly toasted was perfection for me! Lightly crispy and airy on th inside. Hojicha latte was yummy and can alter sugar levels. My husband says the drips are good and coffee bean selection is also good and strong. They also sell tea bags. Pros: -restrooms available -wide open space -coffee drips made to order -sells high quality coffee whole beans that are also slightly pricey -sells tea bags including four seasons -drinks are good -service is fast -facilities are clean Cons: -none! read more

On a main busy street, but loads street parking nearby. Several small tables lining one side of the wall + Cloudy ($7; less sweet): advertised as sweetened w red date and pear which was exciting, but it primarily tasted like coffee w a heavy whip cream top. Good but nothing outstanding (7.5/10) Also tried the matcha coconut water, picky about the coconut water I enjoy and this was the kind I dislike but you do get a mix of both matcha and coconut (5/10) read more

The baristas are very nice and take the time to answer our questions. They are knowledgeable about the different drinks. The pour over was strong, bold and well balanced. The matcha latte was good and I could taste more matcha flavor than the milk. The guava cheese pastry and coffee cake pair well with our drinks. The atmosphere is a good place to read a book or study. read more
Looking for quality, unique-flavored coffee? Look no further as Yihui coffee is the spot for quality, strong coffee. They use good coffee beans and the extraction process by the barista was perfect. The coffee was smooth and not acidic. I tried... 1. Fist Bump (5/5) Piccolo style coffee with very subtle purple yam flavor notes. It was silky , smooth, and each sip was pleasantly heartwarming. Overall, it was a well balanced drink. 2. Signature Cloudy (5/5) The flavor profile of this drink is red date, pear and cream. The foam part was truly cloud-like. The coffee had a subtle fruit flavor, but you can't specifically taste pear or red date. I think the red date part gives it a lightly sweet note that balanced very well with the quality coffee. The inside of the coffee shop and even their drink cups have a clean, minimalist design. Staff were friendly and would be happy to offer tips or answer any questions. They do have a small variety of pastries, which I have not yet tried so I cannot speak too much about it. They also sell whole coffee beans and tea leaves that are quite pricey. read more
