    Amp Up smoothie
    Anthony D.

Amazing hidden spot, recommended to me by a coworker, I finally managed to get around to check it out and was totally blown away. Very small cozy spot with great service and atmosphere. Huge selection of items, I went with hanks favorite on egg bread, an amp up smoothie, and the soup of the day, which was chicken noodle soup. Everything was amazing and the soup was so wonderful I regret not getting more. I highly recommend trying this place out.

Lovebirds is a place for light and refreshing sandwiches. I often ordered their sandwiches for lunch to go and they always hit the spot. So far I have tried: Red & green- the veggie sandwich, something I don't usually go for but this changed my mind and I would often go back to it if I want a light lunch. Chicken salad sandwich- pair so well with the grapes in the sandwich. The sandwich is a little smaller than the others. Turkey and ham sandwich- an original and satisfying sandwich, can't go wrong with it. Vermont turkey- I never had apples in my sandwiches before but it ends a nice crunch and goes with the mustard and turkey. Lovebirds also offer salads, soup, pastries and coffee.

Tuna with avocado and pepper jack on pumpernickel bread. I think it's called Hank's Favorite Sandwich.

Haven't been here in about five years. Was really craving a tuna sandwich so I made the trip over. Was a little disappointed in the sandwich itself, as you can see in the picture they've really went down on portion size. We got here around 12:30ish, the place was empty which I was surprised by, but they had a lot of go orders coming over the phone. Same employees are still there. That was nice to see. Sandwich tasted great, it was just smaller than the way it used to be. Looking at the menu I see they now offer breakfast burritos and people were ordering them at lunchtime so that's good to know.

    Asian Chicken Salad

Although Lovebirds Cafe has been here for a very long time, I never stopped by until now. I ordered a to go and really liked their Asian Chicken Salad so I'm back again picking up another to go order in the morning when they open. I ordered Asian Chicken Salad, Hank's Favorite Sandwich (regular size) and Iced Chai Latte via Yelp app. I found street parking right in front of the cafe. The gentleman who helped me is friendly. He even gave me a take out menu and told me it's cheaper to call in and order vs. order on Yelp app. I ended up liking Hank's Favorite Sandwich a lot! I can't wait to stop by again and will try other items they offer on the menu.

Been getting their Hank's Favorite for years now, which is essentially a tuna salad BLT with avocado. I usually order it with the egg bread which is like a light and fluffy white bread. It really gives the sandwich a homey type of vibe. They also have a wide variety of baked goods to choose from, but the cookies are really something special. They've got a wonderful chew and have been consistently delicious every single time. The only thing is that the service isn't as good as it used to be which is why this is review is a 4 star, but I believe that's something that can be easily remedied. Ultimately, they make great sandwiches and I'm really happy they're still in business even after covid. I have yet to return, but I have continued to recommend this place to people when they're craving a sandwich that isn't from a franchise. Gotta support the small businesses!

WOW!! After hearing about this spot SOOO much from coworkers, I finally had the time to get down there! Paul helped me a ton by telling me where to put my umbrella and where the menu was. As I gave my order, o found out later that the lady taking my order and ringing me up was the owner! That's quite rare in my experience! I got the Turkey Apple with added red onions and a Veggie sandwich with avocado and onions. I highly recommend the Turkey!! It's excellent and beautifully composed with lovely textures and flavors!! The veggie sandwich is every vegetarian dream party!! I'm soo impressed, I want more!!

    This is NOT a panini

    $16 for a plain/boring sandwich - it was listed as a panini & it's definitely not that.

Extremely friendly service and inviting. Grew up with this place just haven't been here since the 90's. Always great food and I'm glad I get to relive my childhood memories here. Very quiet for now, I'm here before the lunch rush. Extremely clean. Highly recommend.

Love this place! Gives small town vibes for sure. Paul, who's been working here as long as I can remember, is super awesome and helpful. Great customer service. And the sandwiches are sooo unbeatably delicious! I skipped a sandwich this morning for one of their delicious smoothies -- the Super Weight Gainer. Will always and forever support this women-owned business!

    French Connection Sandwich

Place is located behind of Gen's KBBQ and the parking lot structure. It's easy to miss because their exterior doesn't have any posters or hours listed, but you can go in! Food: For sandwiches you choose which sandwich you want to go with, type of bread, and if you want it toasted (bread, meat and cheese). French connection with French Roll makes it a thick sandwich. This sandwich will make you feel full. I would recommend getting the French Bread you like to have more meat ratio in your sandwich. Cheese was nicely toasted with the bread and meat so it melted in your mouth. Amp juice (Pineapple, strawberry, ginger, apple, mango, lemongrass, melon) had a smoothie texture than a liquid juice. It was an refreshing drink, but I wished it was somewhat slightly chilled to drink during spring/summer. Wild Alaskan salmon sandwich with Seven Grain bread was portioned well between the smoked salmon, red onion, tomato, caper, and cream cheese. Would definitely, recommend getting this if you want a light filling meal. This is such a staple and one of their popular items to order at Lovebirds!

The guy who must be the owner , not sure. He's the guy with the glasses . He always has a great attitude. Has the best customer service voice and attention to the customers. I come here once in awhile. I love this place, and it's the town of Alhambra /near Monterey park. Got this and another sandwich but I already ate that one. Anyways come here for the food and the service and you will be satisfied! No doubt . Shout out to the guy in the glasses. Need to get his name.

Hank's Favorite Sandwich (tuna salad, bacon, avo)

This spot has been here long ago when I was a highschooler at AHS, and I never even tried it until just this recent trip. I've heard of their name for all these years but never even visited! That said, I stopped by in the morning for some coffee and a sandwich before a drive to LAX and it was a great choice. They serve your sandwiches with your choice of bread, and I thought half was enough to just be satisfied. Went with Hank's Favorite on ciabatta bread / which is a tuna sandwich with bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Very tasty. Not pictured was a large latte. Very big and helped kick start the day with plenty of caffeine! They are super popular and I saw a guy come pick up 3-4 cases worth of catered orders. Would recommend as a sandwich spot in the area!

    Pastrami Sandwich
    Julia H.

Really glad Lovebirds Alhambra reopened again, as I was really missing their sandwiches, soup, and salads. Salads are usually fully loaded and dressing is provided on the side. Soups are usually Chicken Noodle or Clam Chowder (at least on Fridays) & I prefer their Clam Chowder. Also love their Pastrami & French Dip sandwiches. Alhambra's menu differs slightly than the one from the website. Service is usually fairly quick as I call to order & pick-up. Sometimes they have a couple of tables set up outside & a few tables inside.

This time my husband got the Granada which was recommended to us by Henry and I got my usual Legendary. However, I went for a second time yesterday and was deeply disappointed. The owner wasn't there and instead a younger girl took my order and prepared the food. Everything seemed well and fine until I got home, opened my patty melt and found not 1 but 2 long hairs in my sandwich! They were clearly her hairs since she was the only one who handled my food. I went back and returned everything. I didn't see a hair in my other sandwich but couldn't even eat it without thinking what could be in each bite. The same girl was there when I returned and a young guy. I spoke with the guy and he gave me a refund right away and apologized. The girl who had made my food was maybe 5 feet away and couldn't even turn around to look at me or apologize. Very disappointing since the owner seemed like a nice guy who probably works extremely hard to build and maintain his business, only to have it ruined by some employee who couldn't even care enough to take 5 sec to put on a hair net. Shame on her.

It was packed with flavor even without the chipotle vinaigrette (relieved I got it on the side because I wasn't s big fan). The avocado was very fresh and plentiful. I added chicken for extra $4.74 and it was very tender! Overall, I enjoyed the salad but a bit pricey so it was a good one time experience! The Chicken Pesto Caprese ($14.10) was pretty good. It consisted of chicken, mozzarella, red peppers, pesto, and mixed greens. The greens were very fresh and the sandwich was packed with flavor. The chicken was a little dry but not a big deal. There was a lot of red pepper and it was a bit overwhelming so I wished there wasn't so much. Really enjoyed the pesto since it it wasn't too salty and was the cherry on top to the sandwich! I also really liked that the bread was soft and fresh. Got the "Not so Fried" Chicken Sandwich ($13.68) - 1/2 portion and it came with a side (paid extra $1.26) for tomato basil soup. It consisted of chicken, krispies, mustard pickle slaw, tomatoes, onions, and herb aioli. The bread was very fresh and soft. I'm glad I got this in half portion because I thought this was just ok and nothing special. The tomato basil soup was very oily and salty so wasn't too enjoyable. The Pomegranate Mint Lemonade ($5.10) was sooo sweet. It was refreshing but the mint was a little too overpowering. Definitely recommend adding ice and/or water otherwise it's way too sweet! Overall, the sandwich and salads were a bit pricey but definitely one of the better spots for sandwiches and salads in terms of quality and quantity!
