We got their half crispy and half chicken hainam and honestly it's one of the best rice dishes I have ever tried. Both the fried and boiled chicken were juicy and the rice was flavorful. I like that they provide you with a side of the flavorful chicken broth they used to season the rice. We also tried their tom kha which was flavorful but a little on the saltier end. We came recently on a Sunday afternoon and it was stale and quiet in there, with just one worker in the front. Food (4/5): Maybe it's the nostalgia too, but I still love their fried Hainan rice set. It has a good amount of nicely seasoned, meaty fried chicken and the rice is lightly seasoned and fragrant with chicken broth. It also comes with a bowl of chicken broth. Our whole family loved the sets. The reason I give it 4/5 stars is because I've had good and bad experiences with this restaurant. This most recent visit was good, but I've gotten takeout or orders where it's mostly skin or barely any meat, or the rice was clumped or super mushy. This is my second time here, so far everything I ordered has been consistent. So if I had to choose between Banana Bay next door and Red Chicken Thai, I'd go here. I ordered the half and half rice set with both fried and steamed chicken. Pickup was quick and the portion size was actually pretty generous. The chicken was done really well. The steamed chicken was tender and soft, and the fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. The rice had a nice chicken flavor to it too. What really took it to the next level for me were the sauces. Ordered som tum with salted crab. 19.99 over the phone, $17 online. Very small portion with only small fragments of crab throughout, a disappointing amount for almost $20. Cashier was very kind about a refund because we were not impressed with the value and also not blown away by taste. I went here during Corona Virus I believe and stopped going because taste and quality dropped and I believe they are new ownership. It's a very pale colored red building that looks like the business is closed. Went back to give it a try they have probably their kids as staff very teenage like girls I pointed to the pic with the red bbq noodles the dish came out it didn't have those bbq pork like in the pic. This used to be my #1 favorite place to eat at before covid. I used to eat here all the time when they had the jars of ginger on the table. I also used to bring all my friends here to eat bc I love their half and half chicken plates (steamed and grilled) with papaya salad and soup. I used to order the crying tiger too but sometimes it gets overcooked and tastes gummy. I still eat here but i guess i get annoyed that they want to charge 99 cents for each extra ginger. This place has been around for years, but I finally tried it a few weeks ago when I placed a catering order. I got the smallest size with half grilled and half poached chicken, rice, and all the sauces. It was definitely plenty of food, but nothing about the meal really wowed me. The poached chicken had a clean flavor and the skin was left on, but I expected it to be much more tender. It was just okay. The grilled chicken had a bit more flavor, but it still fell short of being amazing. I thought the rice would have a stronger chicken flavor, but it was lacking something. Honestly, it tasted like plain rice that would be better used for making fried rice the next day. Even the three different sauces they provided were just average. I always feel bad leaving a middle of the road review for a small business in such a competitive food scene, but this is strictly based on my catering experience. There is minimal parking in the lot in the back, but there should be plenty of street parking. We came in for dinner at around 6 PM on a week night and the restaurant had minimal people and no wait. However, we noticed a bunch of take out orders lined up and as the night went on, a lot of people were coming in and out to pick up their food. This must be a very popular restaurant for take out. The server was very friendly and took our order. My wife ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and I ordered the Spicy Basil with Pork, spicy level spicy. My wife enjoyed her Pad Thai and I really enjoyed my spicy basil. The pork was flavorful and the spicy level was on point. A few days later, we called to place a small party tray for Pad Thai and party tray of 40 Satay Chicken. The Pad Thai comes with the toppings separated out on top in case you want to take something out. Otherwise, you can mix it up after. It also came with lemon and peanuts on the side. The satay chicken came with satay sauce in a separate container and another sauce with cucumber in it. Our group of friends really enjoyed both dishes and it was enough for about 6-7 people.
