Meat was tender with mild chew and was a huge flavor bomb especially with the sauce, rice, and peppers mixed together. The potatoes absorb the sauce super well and the pork ribs were pretty tender and easy to eat too. We got a cold mixed bean curd salad with this which was pretty worth - the cucumbers and wood ear mushrooms really cut through the heavy flavors. Ironically the bean curd was our least favorite ingredient since it was too hard and tough to chew. Overall (4/5): Solid comfort food that's super warming. Restaurant itself is pretty cold inside and everything is pretty efficient with the QR ordering system. Service is ok - not super friendly but easy and quick to wave down if you need anything. I've always seen this place whenever I stop by for Chicha, but I'm so glad I was able to finally try it! I brought my dad here since it's probably something he would like. Walking in, it's a very casual joint with a few seatings, but definitely enough. Especially how quick they serve the food here. My dad ordered a braised pork rib bowl and I ordered a boneless yellow chicken with medium spicy. I wasn't sure what to expect, since it was my first time trying this. Our bowls were served quick and each entree comes with a bowl of rice. I only really tried my own, which was the yellow chicken and it was pretty good! Came around 6:30 PM, and it was busy, but I snagged a small table in the corner--solo diner advantage! The concept is simple: they serve a variety of braised items in sizzling stone pots. I ordered the braised chicken and intestines pot, medium spicy, along with a side dish of cucumber, woodear, and tofu skin. The side was refreshing, but nothing special. When the pot arrived, it was sizzling hot, and the sauce was delicious--savory with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender, and the intestines were perfectly cooked. This is definitely the kind of dish that begs for a couple of bowls of rice! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to come back to try another pot. Really liked beef and potato pot also~ the potato slices were very flavourful. The lamb pot was good as the lamb was not overly gamey. We stumbled across this spot on yelp and decided to give it a try. It was the best decision ever. The small plates are delicious and pair very well with the main entrees. The Shredded Potato have the traditional chinese numbing space which is absolutely delicious. The Cucumbers are sweet and tangy - also delicious! And the Cold Mixed Seaweed is very refreshing in between bites of the main entree. For their main entrees, we only ordered the sizzling pot and it did not disappoint! We got their Braised Chicken (bone-in), their Braised Pork Trotter, and Braised Lamb Chops. The Pork Trotter was my favorite while the Lamp Chops were my boyfriends favorite. We didn't love the chicken as much, but ordered it as it was recommended by our server. It has great flavor but the pork and lamb was just way more flavorful! Ikka Sizzling Pot is tucked away in a plaza, and it's easily missed unless you live around the area. Although I would classify this as a hidden gem, there are two features that I didn't enjoy: 1) Communication was mostly in Mandarin, and I never heard English spoken. Be aware of this during your visit. I had to order four different times because each item I tried to order was "sold out" but I wasn't told until a few minutes after I placed each order. (So ordering took maybe 15 minutes in total of back-and-forth.) 2) I overheard conversation that one of the "sold out" items was not in fact sold out when another table ordered it... I ordered a Beef Slice with Golden Soup along with complimentary shredded potato & carrot and cold mixed seaweed. The complimentary sides were crispy, but the sour, vinegary taste wasn't too enjoyable. Compared to most, the crispy texture was impressive; the taste was alright. The entree was served with an egg drop soup side (tasty!) and rice sprinkled with black sesame seeds. The rice was luscious, and the beef very tender.
