First time going to the Arcadia location (my family usually goes to the one in Alhambra), but this location is great too! We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait. We got our go to drink, the Mixed Fruit Delight which is a refreshing drink with mango, watermelon, and honey chunks along with satisfying sago balls and creamy coconut milk. It's the perfect drink, not too sweet and a balance of being both refreshing and creamy. It's one of my favorite drinks ever. Highly recommend. Ordered Doordash because they have BOGO Kung Pao Chicken & Mango Pomelo Sago with Silken Tofu so it was $38 including tax and tip! The Kung Pao Chicken was pretty good. It had a lot of chicken and it was very tender. It had a lot of peanuts, bell peppers, and onions. It was very flavorful not too greasy! The Mango Pomelo Sago with Silken Tofu was decent. The dessert was refreshing but the mango was quite sour and hard. I loved how the dessert wasn't too sweet and the tofu was very soft. This location is one of the OG locations They open late and still taste pretty great to get your fix. They have wide variety of items. I heard about Phoenix and how they are known for their variety and specialty of desserts and drinks. I have been wanting to try them out. I was in the neighborhood. It was my chance! This place is located at the Baldwin Plaza in the City of Arcadia. It is next door to Chef Tony's Dim Sum. Plaza is not very big so free parking is limited. Get here early! Upon entry, there was only one table of customers. It has adequate inside seating. No outside seating. Interior decor was simple nothing extravagant. The two ladies behind the counter were ready to assist. They weren't the most friendliest, but okay. Since this was my first time here, I asked for a few minutes to peruse the glass of desserts. I ended up getting the Coconut Milk & Taro Custard and 4 Piece Assorted Custard Platter. I liked all of them. Texture was smooth. There was just a smidget of sweetness. I would have preferred them to be a tad bit sweeter. They were all still good though. If I had to pick one as the best, the Coconut Milk & Taro Custard takes home the GOLD! Funny, I had already walked out with the custards. Then I saw a woman come out with a drink in her hand. I went back in to get a couple drinks. Fresh Durian Delight and Mango Pomelo Delight were both very good. Very fruity and light in taste. I love my durian! I would get them again. They do, I repeat, Phoenix Food Boutique does have shaved ice! It was the only thing I ordered that night - a Fresh Mango Shaved Ice for $9.95. The Fresh Mango Shaved Ice was everything I had imagined and hoped for. The dessert was packed with a huge amount of mangos. The ice was soft and perfect, which I knew immediately in the first bite that they had a legit shaved ice machine. It was the perfect texture. In this day and age, this $9.95 shaved ice is the best I've ever had all summer, and it's priced very affordably. They portioned it to be the perfect amount for my friend and me to share - we finished it to our liking, but didn't leave feeling overly sweet or heavy. It's the perfect amount to share between two people, but honestly, I loved it so much I could enjoy it all on my own and leave even happier. A nice causal place to grab a quick eat or even dessert. I've been coming here a recently and enjoy their food. I appreciate the fact that the green beans were very crispy. I'm often disappointed when I order green beans and they tend to be a little soggy because they weren't fried correctly at the right temperature and time. I also really enjoyed their wonton noodle soup, the broth was very clean and flavorful. I will say if you don't speak Chinese you may have a little bit of a difficult time in asking for more specific requests. I have only had their desserts here. If you like durian, you will like their durian rolls. They had a new durian roll when I stopped by today and called it Musang king. Tasted about the same as their regular durian rolls. I feel like the roll had more beans (mung beans) than durian though. Roughly $9 for a box with 2 rolls. I needed to add chicken broth which defeats the purpose to ordering take out. The fried donut is yummy but quite expensive considering I can get it for much less elsewhere. The pork' and shrimp wonton noodle soup was also Luke warm you would need to heat it up when you get home. I love this spot and every time I visit SoCal, I have to stop by to get their mango coconut roll. During my recent trip, I stopped by 3 times to taste their dessert. My favorite is always the mango coconut roll, huge portion, mango is super sweet and fresh and very affordable compared to the prices in the Bay Area. I also loved their sweet almond hot dessert, it's smooth and you can taste the fragrance of the almond (also not sweet at all). I used to love Phoenix and me and my family have been coming for years but honestly it's gone down hill.. we used to like getting their cold side dishes to take home but have found that they are often expired and go bad quickly. Same with their bottled beverages like the barley water. Their Hong Kong milk tea also tastes disgusting. I used to love their coconut jelly with fresh mango but I think they discontinued it. Everything we've tried on their menu from their cooked dishes is also very bland. The only thing we get now is their egg tarts, the candied pecans, and an occasional mixed fruit delight drink but the last time I got that it was way too sweet. Our most recent horror story is I ordered a chicken congee for my partner that had an upset stomach and not long after eating it he broke out with full body hives all over his body. We were very alarmed but luckily a high dose of allergy medication fixed it. The only thing he is allergic to is shellfish. There is no other explanation other than there was cross contamination which can be very dangerous to individuals with food allergies. That was enough to say we won't be coming back. read more

The Phoenix has a nice comfortable dining area with bakery cases filled with sweets. It was a busy morning with a lot of food app delivery drivers picking up orders. The women working at his morning were extremely pleasant to even the most annoying "Karen" pick up driver. (Side note - You have chosen to be a delivery driver. You have no right to take it out on the people working in any restaurant for the unhinged order some rando made.) My favorite desserts are their mango shaved ice, assorted Mochi and the sweet pecans. I love to get their fried garlic chicken wings, beef chow fun and stir-fry water spinach with garlic. I also love their fish congee and thousand eggs and shredded meats congee when I have a cold or the flu. It's comfort food! Their pan fried / crispy noodles, wanton noodle soup and fried fish with rice are also delicious. Pretty much everything is good here and that's why they have so many locations and been around for over a dozen years. The ambiance is simple and clean. We also ordered many take-out during covid and they were all packaged nicely. With many options of plate rice, stir fry noodles, congee, soup noodles you cannot go wrong. On our recent visit we needed a late night dinner after coming home from a long flight. I got the Malaysian noodles which have fish balls, shrimps, and ground pork. You also have the option to pick the different noodles. The stir fry dishes such as tomato egg beef, honey walnut shrimps, and fish filet with black bean sauce is always on point. 12/4/22 Hubby likes mango pudding & this one was placed right in my path. Just left Chef Tony's dimsum place, disappointed that it didn't serve dimsum the traditional way so I bolted. It took a slow hot minute for the busy bees behind the counter (all three of them didn't look up or acknowledge my presence) to say Hi. To me that's just plain rude or showing little respect to a potential patron. But It's no matter, it's only pudding (lol). When one of them finally approached me, I requested for the mango custard/pudding & the coconut taro pudding. I paid & I was on my merry way to the next dimsum adventure. Hubby & I tasted both pudding & agreed that the coconut taro was the better flavor. It was creamy & firm, somewhat smooth I think the taro made a little rough. Ordered from them on Uber Eats for our Lunar New Year dinner and was not disappointed!! Firstly, our order arrived much faster than anticipated, was 100% accurate, and very neatly packaged! And secondly, the food was really tasty too! We were looking for symbolic foods to celebrate the holiday, and after checking out menus from numerous local spots, Phoenix checked all our boxes! We ordered the Crispy Shrimp Rolls for wealth, the Black Pepper & Basil Fish for prosperity, and the Soy Sauce Noodles for longevity. We also ordered the Tomato & Egg Beef bc it's a family fave and the Silken Tofu with Fresh Mango for dessert! Turned out to be quite the feast as their portions are generous! The Black Pepper & Basil Fish was my fave! The sauce is savory and so flavorful with large chunks of meaty, soft white fish and some flavorful veggies along with a side of rice. The Crispy Shrimp Rolls were a close second fave - a lovely crispy snap to the outside surrounding plump shrimp on the inside - YUM!! The Tomato & Egg Beef is my hubby's fave and he said it was really good too. The Soy Sauce Noodles were just ok - they were pretty dry and got cold super fast but the flavor was decent - however I prob won't get them again. We were feeling adventurous when we ordered and had never heard of Silken Tofu so we took a chance in this new Year of the Tiger!! That Silken Tofu totally ROCKED!! Absolutely loved it!! It's very similar to an egg pudding but comes in a creamy, slightly sweet coconut type of sauce with some tapioca and topped with mango - so excellent!! It's open late, has yummy food, an array of options and yummy drinks. It is a tad bit small, but there's usually always seating available! My family and I go to Phoenix often. It's a nice place to agree on when we can't decide what to eat. We all have a favorite dish here, and it's a nice spot to order take out as well. They have a large menu so it's super easy to find something someone would enjoy. Their drinks and desserts are also really good if your just in the mood for something sweet. Our go tos here are usually the beef fried rice, walnut shrimp, korean bbq slice, chow mein/fun and porridge when I'm sick! But there are so many good options here, you just can't go wrong. My fellow Yelpers have it right, yet again...This Phoenix (much like all other Phoenix Boutiques) is about a 3.5 star on average, and occasionally would surprise you with a 4 star kind of visit. They have a relatively large menu, with items like various rice and noodles. Prices are somewhere between OK and just a wee bit pricey for what you get. We often go (as we did today) for only desserts. Their mango custard and mango mochis are good and unique. I am thankful that they have those type of specialty items readily available--one of the perks of living in a city like LA. Their best quality is probably their consistency and that they offer unique dessert items like fresh fruit mochis. Sometimes they'll try to push add-on items on you as you check out. Just stick to your guns and they won't push you too hard. As the past few years would indicate, we'll be back given this place is in our regular dessert shop rotation. read more
