Cute decor, great place to go for a date or a night out with friends! However, if you are looking to make conversation, it might be difficult as the live music is quite loud. Overall vibes are nice though. Although they place small candles under the skewers, the stove isn't nearly hot enough to keep them warm. Food is pretty good and cucumber salad is a must. I would probably skip the corn cheese next time. The lamb hot pot had a very distinct lamb flavor. Surprisingly, I really liked the vegetarian skewers, including the corn, oyster mushrooms and cauliflower. You can't go wrong with any of the skewers! This is the place I'd come back to when I'm craving meat and Chinese spices! It was really easy to order food through the tablet. The button assigned to the table was very helpful when we needed to get the server's attention. The portions of everything justified the price. The cucumber was very fresh and had a nice pickily, spicy, and sweet flavor to it, which helped balance the spices from the meat. I thought it was a nice option to remove some spices from the meat, just in case your palate can't handle it. All of the skewers were tender and very delicious. The one thing I'd recommend is ordering your meat with gaps in between, because by the end of our meal, the meat had gotten cold. What my girlfriend and I loved about this place was the hired singer. We were thinking about yakitori, but since the San Gabriel Valley has very few yakitori restaurants, we went to Little Skewer and had Chinese barbecue instead. Loved it! The beer was cold, the skewers came out fast and the choices were abundant. I especially liked the corn skewers with each colonel threaded as well as the pork intestine, which was nice and crunchy. The stinky tofu seemed to be quite popular that night I really like the old Tavern atmosphere and wished more restaurants would adopt that style. Definitely going back. read more

I've been to the Monterey Park location but never this one, looks like this one is more new! i came on a thur evening & it was super chill, more peaceful than the one in monterey park, which I preferred after a long day of work haha. Anyways, you just order your skewers from a tablet and it comes out super quickly, all the skewers were great, had a nice spicy flavor. My favs were the pork intestine, oyster mushroom, and lamb! All the skewers were tasty though! (5/5) Garlic enoki mushrooms were also so delish, love me some garlic! Service was super efficient, you can ring them in with the wall buttons and also the napkins hang off from the ceiling in a box which is pretty cool. Incredibly flavorful food, affordable prices and quick service. Once seated you place your order on the iPad and can customize the spice/heat per dish. Food & drinks show up quickly, you don't have to order everything at once and can continue to add items at ease since you're not dependent on flagging down a server. We came to celebrate a girlfriend's bday. She loves to drink sake. This place hit the spot! Great food! A whole Bunch of different skewers from meats lamb, beef, chicken skin, pork intestine, corn, king mushroom, which can be ordered with original flavors, no spicy, or omit different spices. We got most with no spicy as not our whole party eats spicy food but asked for chili oil on the side. Sides of veggies: chives, eggplant, enoki mushroom. I came here to celebrate my birthday since I was craving lamb skewers and wanted to give this place a try. First, the interior is very well decorated and makes you feel as though you've traveled to a very nice and clean tavern. I loved the punny signs on the walls and the overall aesthetic of the restaurant was beautiful. The food was alright. The skewers were tiny and have the tiniest amount of meat, which was disappointing. They were also very salty and the meat was tough. The stinky tofu dish was surprisingly the highlights of the night. I had never eaten stinky tofu before, but the stinky tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There was no overly strong smell and was very delightful. We ended up ordering this dish 3 times throughout the meal. The enoki mushrooms were good and had a great amount of garlic on it, but was also on the salty and oily side. The duck blood was perfectly cooked, but unfortunately, I cannot handle the numbing mala spice very well so I was not able to finish this dish. I'm not sure if I missed that there's mala spice in the description or if it is simply not written, but do be warned that it's spicy. The scallops were okay, nothing much to write home about. While I didn't order any alcohol, I did see that they have a pretty cool and large alcohol menu. The table next to us ordered the multiple mini shots that looked very fun to drink if you're looking for a night out with some friends. The main letdown of the night was the service unfortunately. The waiters were inattentive and were seen laughing and talking amongst one another while we kept waving, calling out to them, and pressed the buzzer. Even when we walked to the bar area, they did not notice my friend asking for a water refill until he almost went past the bar area trying get their attention. Our plates were never cleared until the end of the meal, and we order 24 items in total so we had a lot of dishes piling up. We were a group of 7 sitting right in front of the bar area and we could clearly see the waiters, but they were so engrossed in their conversations that it was very hard to get their attention every time we wanted to ask for anything. And because the food was quite salty, we did ask for the water pitcher to be refilled quite a few times. Overall, I don't know if I will be back since the service was an extreme letdown. The food was alright. I think the main star of this place is the interior decor and it might be cool to bring a friend to drink and catch up with here. I hope this place is able to improve their service and maybe make the food a little less salty, then hopefully this place will be more popular. read more

Second time back at this location since the soft opening, and it's a lot better now! It's pretty similar to Little Skewers in Monterey Park but way less crowded. We came for dinner on a Friday and only waited about five minutes for a table of eight -- not bad at all. The skewers were warm, flavorful, and much better than last time. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the overall vibe was great. They even had a live singer performing both English and Chinese songs, which added to the atmosphere. Service was quick too. I really liked the decorations in this restaurant. It just has a fun vibe. When we came in the restaurant was mostly empty, service was fast and pretty hands off. Went Tuesday night around 6:30pm and didn't have to wait for a table. Food came out quickly using the iPad ordering system. I ordered plenty of items for my brother and I, with our bill coming out to just over $100. Beef, Stinky tofu, chicken skin, oysters, scallops, beef aorta, duck blood, lamb soup mug, squid and matcha red bean snow dessert. The seasoning we got was regular, they also have options for no cumin and spicy. Regular was spicy enough and had good Sichuan chili flavor! The price for food items are reasonable but the meat on the skewers like the beef seemed anemic, where the beef?! My favorite dish was the juicy duck blood, smoother than pork blood and comes sliced in a nice tray hot enough to burn your mouth. They have plenty of drink options that would go well with Sichuan flavors but didn't opt for them and stick with water. Apparently this place is really popular in other cities like Monterey Park and El Monte, especially with younger crowds. We decided to give it a try after church since our son is a fan of their meat skewers. Service was quick and efficient, and the décor definitely leans into the Chinese street-food vibe--lots of drinking-related signs and quirky sayings like "Real Girl Eats Meat" and "Nice to Meat You." A new location opened near my home, and it looks nice with a Chinese style decor. The place isn't big, but it feels cozy and comfortable. The staff is friendly and welcoming. How awesome it is to have a Little Skewer location here in Monrovia? Although, the location is one of the smallest one in size compared to their other places, I think I still like this one the best because they have friendlier staff. They're still in their soft opening stage so their menu may have less food options. I also feel their air conditioning may not be functioning properly because it felt hot and stuffy, but I am sure it is something they will fix down the line. This new location in Monrovia/Arcadia is smaller than the OG Monterey Park location, but we gave it a try thinking that the wait would be shorter. Given that the restaurant is so small, we still had to wait at least 30 minutes for a party of 10. When we were seated, it felt more cramped than the other location since there are no dividers between tables like they have at the MPK location. I also thought it was interesting that they have napkins hung on the ceiling in sacks, which is only controlled by the people on the edges of the table. Between a group of 10, we had two heated trays. But when we ordered our food, the server didn't bother splitting up the orders for us, so one side will have all the lamb skewers while the other side had the beef skewers. They also didn't bother telling us what was brought out, so we had to ask each time. We also noticed that the menu was smaller than the MPK location, but had some other unique items such as the stinky tofu. I also enjoyed their taro balls! But skip the golden mantou because those were dry and terrible, not even the condense milk could save them. Food came out relatively quickly, and we enjoyed ourselves in good company. I think it's still their soft opening, so it's understandable that they have adjustments to make. But it was unfortunate that they tapped out of their draft beers (blue moon and Sapporo) and didn't get refills kegs going on a Friday night, so our table had to default to individual glass bottles. Overall, I think the MPK location has better aesthetic, a larger menu, and more entertainment (live music on some nights), and would opt to go there instead. But this is a nice second location for those who live closer to Arcadia/monrovia. read more

We stopped by tonight, the 3rd night of their soft opening in this new location in Monrovia. This is their 4th store. They took over the old restaurant that used to be here, Shanghai Gourmet. We ordered lamb skewers, beef skewers, mushroom skewers, oyster, scallop, taros balls and cucumber salad. The oyster and cucumber salad were my favorites. The oyster was warm, sweet and savory. I loved the flavor, temperature and the texture. I would order two next time. The cucumber salad was mildly spicy, sweet, garlicy and savory. It was mixed with crunchy peanuts. The entire flavor profile and combination just worked! I also got the orange peel pu-ar tea. It wasn't bitter and the portion was so large I took the leftovers to go in a huge soup container! The tea came with the tiniest cups. The ambiance was great. The theme was Chinese and old school yet felt charming. It's a Chinese version of a pub. Great aesthetics. Service was excellent. Little kids might like it because of the tornado potato and because it's a novel eating experience. At least try it once. Service was good. Yay a Little Skewer in Arcadia! It's nice to have an assortment of skewer places here and should bring some life to this area of the Mon-Arc plaza, which has seen numerous tenants over the years. I went to the soft opening and it was a great experience. You order on an iPad here instead of paper so that you can keep adding onto your order as you get through your skewers. It's satisfying to hear the little chime in the kitchen after you submit your order. Skewers came out within minutes. We also got the tieguanyin tea and it was really floral and pretty (you can also get refill on the hot water for your tea). My favorite was definitely the oyster mushroom, cooked to a very satisfying consistency. The cucumber salad was big enough to share. It was crunchy and flavorful. Ambiance inside was standard Little Skewer, such warm and inviting vibes. Even the lights flicker like they're candles. And they have napkins hanging from bags in the ceiling, very unique. I usually like getting their cucumber salad and their chicken skewers. IMO their lamb skewers are not the best but their chicken skewers are to die for. You order via iPad & can customize with cumin or spice. This modern chain is known for its cute traditional decor & fast service. You order via a tablet which is very convenient. Skewers came out pretty fast. We ordered 80 skewers for about $60. The skewers are very skinny FYI. Many of the skewers were barely warm when served. Makes me think it's pre cooked and just warmed up. Would not recommend the chicken skin skewer, grilled oyster, squid, and lamb were good. Overall it was just ok. New location! This place needs no introduction as this place has other locations and is already a great place to go! Highly recommend trying an order of all their skewers, and the cucumber appetizer is a must try. The menu is a bit slimmed down compared to the Monterey Park location, but they still offer a majority of the items. The only reason I give 4-Stars is because they were a bit disorganized: the pot of water we got when we sat down was empty (and possibly from the previous table), they never gave us a menu until asked, and when the skewers came, items or requests were delayed, and they forgot to light the candles to warm up the little grill. I'd probably come back regardless as I'm sure they're still working through a new location. read more

Food is 4/5, the lamb skewers truly are "mini".. I don't think I've ever seen such a small amount of meat on a skewer, but because the meat was tough I'm glad it was small because it was still easy enough to bite off and chew. Prices are reasonable, on the upper end for street style food but you're paying for the atmosphere as well. Service is good if you can get their attention. read more

The Ambiance: The restaurant has an ethnic Chinese vibe, which is nice, but it's pretty dark inside--even during the day. It might work better for a cozy dinner, but for a lunchtime visit, it felt a little too dim. Service: This was probably the biggest letdown. The staff seemed new and not very well-trained yet, which made service pretty slow. Our skewers took a long time to come out, and it felt like they were still figuring things out. Hopefully, this improves as they settle in. Food:We started with the cucumber salad, which was actually quite good--fresh and well-seasoned. But the skewers were hit-or-miss: - Beef skewer- tough, way too skinny, and hard to chew. - Chicken skewer- just okay, nothing special. - Pork belly skewer- not bad, had a decent texture. - Chicken skin skewer- crispy, which I liked, but the long wait kind of took away from the experience. I get that they're new, so I'm willing to give them some time to improve, but right now, the slow service and inconsistent food quality make it hard to fully enjoy the meal.
