First Cabin Bar was highly recommended by a coworker for the best Bloody Mary around. We decided to do a "Bloody Mary Bar Crawl", and this was our second stop, but first time visit for us. Apple was "at the HELM" (behind the bar). Fun, social crowd with regulars that we met and openly welcomed us. I believe that I heard that there's live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. On street parking, or a small lot in the back, off the alley. Hours: 6:00am - 12:00am (next day), Fri-Sat 6:00am - 2:00am (next day). DRINKS, but NO FOOD: A couple Bloody Mary's (two with horseradish, one regular) which were well made. We also tried an Old Fashioned, an Espresso Martini, a Modelo Especial, and a Michelob Ultra. One round was picked up by regular patron but talk about reasonable prices. Our whole tab was only $28. I couldn't believe it. They don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring in whatever you'd like. Claro's Italian Market is across the street, and we heard that many regulars pick up something there and bring it over. Thanks Apple, Paul, Ozzy, and Christy for making our visit a memorable one. If you haven't been here before, definitely worth stopping in. read more

Yes this is definitely what you would call a true dive bar but with that being said it was also a great place if you want to have a strong drink and just have a great time and meet great people who make you feel welcomed love to make you laugh. My cousin and I went after dinner and decided what the heck let's live. We really went in not knowing what to expect and ended up having a great time and meet amazing people. The bartender is a 70 year old man who walks like he can't possibly make any drinks but he certainly can and boy are they strong. So beware. The live band is amazing. It is small place but most of the men there are gentlemen and will offer you their seat. It was a great time. So if you go just be prepared, this is not your usual fancy lounge or bar. read more

Great dive bar with true dive bar vibes. The mixed drinks feature generous pours and reasonable prices. Our bartender was friendly, quick and polite, engaging in pleasant banter with us and the other customers. The bar offers live music and ample parking. First Cabin seems to have a loyal clientele of locals, many of whom seem to start out their day with a visit (see opening hours of 6 am.) Who am I to judge? Free street parking. read more

4++ A great neighborhood tavern / dive bar that feels like it's been around for a long time and one of those type of places where the vibe is that this is a local favorite. The service was quick and friendly as I sat down at the bar. Pretty solid spirits and beer selection, especially for the size of the space. The prices were more than reasonable so I ordered a bourbon or two neat while killing time here and the Dodgers postseason was on the television. Just a side note...this was the game where Freeman got the grand slam in extra innings! :) I was meeting up with a friend for dinner in the area and I got to the area a little early. This place popped upon my radar when I was looking for somewhere to kill a little time. I'm so glad I found this place. An arcade friend of mine wanted to grab a bite in Arcadia at the Chengdu Impression that I had randomly recommended to him way back in Christmas Eve of 2023--at which point, we were both blown away from the quality of food that was served there that we would regularly come back to it to eat from time to time and yesterday was one of those days. While my friend had suggested to eat there for the late evening, I had decided to roll down here early via the Metro Rail, from the Lincoln/Crypress station to the Arcadia Station. The restaurant is about two blocks away from the Arcadia station which--mind you--is a very short walking distance, so don't be fooled by Google Maps making it seem like a far walk--it's not. On the walk to the restaurnt, I saw this bar across the street and popped in to check it out. I wasn't too sure what to expect--given the area is largely Asian dominant but interestingly at 3PM in the afternoon, this place was PACKED to the gills with old grandpa's and an oddly enough, at least two couples that were in that same age range. Clienete was predominantly white that late afternoon with a token Asian grandpa and a token Black grandpa in there. I was the only 'young-ish' Asian dude there at 3PM. The female Asian bartender (maybe mid-30's?) had that look on her face that read 'Are you lost? Are you sure that you're in the right place?" Honestly, I wasn't too sure if I wanted to chill in there until Chengdu Impression opened up in the evening as it was incredibly hot inside with only two ceiling fans turned on and no AC as far as I can tell but I ended staying when I saw that they had their own TouchTunes digital jukebox inside. The bar itself was kind of a long, narrrow, and rectangular space--and it was super dark inside. I think there were 7 TV's in total, 5 of which were oddly enough--tuned into the Santa Anita Race Tracks--with the other 2 TV's tuned into golf. I'm thinking 'Who the hell watches Horse Racing during the day?'--forgetting that the Santa Anita Race Tracks was literally just 3-4 blocks down from this spot. Every grandpa or couple in there had a copy of the Santa Anita Racebooks in their hands while attentively watching the TV screens--it was honestly a little weird. Neverthelss, like any bar that I've been too so far that had a digital jukebox, they were playing mostly classic rock with a light sprinkling of old country music here and there. I had to change that up a bit and play some Fuerza Regida and Priscilla Chan for some variety in between classic rock songs. Ambiance. It's kind of a dark, quiet bar at that late afternoon on a Saturday. I like that it's quiet--and I can drink my beer while listening to my favorite song via the TouchTunes app in peace. The spot had about 10 cushy seats with a backpad to lean on up front plus 4 tall round table tops with 4 square cushy stools with no back pads in the back. Mirrors lined up against the back wall. The jukebox is more towards the front entrance from Huntington Drive side. I didn't know this beforehand but apparently, they also have a backdoor with presumably a parking lot 'in the back' that you can also come in from as I saw a few patrons come in from that direction during my brief stay. Service. The lone female Asian bartender seemed friendly enough. She was passing out snacks (Lay's chips, Cheetos, Dorito's, Funyuns etc)--though not too sure if those were free or if they come at a nominal cost but I definitely saw the bar regulars grab them whenever she offered. Nevertheless, definitely something I'll look into at my next visit. They take credit cards. Enough said. For 4 Corona,'s my bill came out to be $20 even. I tipped $10. All things considered, this side of town has relatively cheap booze because in my side of town in East LA, even for bottle beers, they are $7+, which is crazy. All in all, I like it enough that I'm willing to stop by again, if I happen to be in this part of town some time in the near future. Maybe I'll check them out later at night, when hopefully the crowd would be more mixed and a younger crowd as previous Yelpers have already noted. read more

This is great hidden gem. What a great place to go with a good mix of patrons . There was a great age mix that made me feel comfortable . The drinks are great . This place is a hit or miss?? Bob is a great bar tender as long as you keep it simple, no fancy libations here beer, simple cocktails and I think wine too? A great spot to just hangout and have a few with some buddy's, there can be some seedy characters in there sometimes but just poke your head in and check out the crowd before you enter. read more

What a great little spot! Unassuming spot with strip mall parking, but inside, it's like a classy dive bar with an amazing live band. Possibly connected to sex trafficking ring in Arcadia area which has become a problem. Bartender handed me a shot that had foam n was spinning like it was stirring. Women offered drink that's made me feel uneasy n had to call a family member for help. Bill was under 20. Several times my phone was take from me by woman. Bartender did nothing to protect me. What happens at this places stays here bc something isn't right. Don't go. Had to go to the ER after for a drug testing that came back suspicious. read more

This is the nicest dive bar I've ever visited! I went on a Wednesday night and it was pretty busy. Bob the Bartender was pleasant. Some dudes wanted to arm wrestle on his round table but he wasn't having it. This shows how much he cares about his bar; he told them to take it outside and so they did! So much respect!!!! This is one of the greatest bars I've ever been too. Chris is fine af and his charisma is impeccable (and he makes good drinks). I was also served by Brett (who also makes amazing drinks) and is a straight up G. Don't play with him. This classic spot opened around 1949. I frequent many dive bars and I love the low prices compared to the more hip upscale bars. The one drawback is that they don't have beer on tap and only beer in bottles. They were playing hip classic music too and that bathroom is spot on clean and new. read more

It's been a minute since my last trip here and decided to roll in on a Thursday night. I walked through the back door at about 12:40am and was surprised at the lack of people. The last time I was here ( prolly' on a weekend night) it was so packed that a cockroach would find it hard to get inside. Tonight it was just me, myself and I plus one couple. Thursday night's light patronage allowed me to fully enjoy the decorative ambiance. It was nice to see the resident rockers doin' their live music jams " Pat O'Brien and the Priests of Love!" ... they did not disappoint. The drinks were reasonably priced and honest to strong pours. Dim lights, Thick Smoke and Loud Loud Music! Well...maybe not the thick smoke part. If you look in the dictionary under the word "BAR" you would see a photo of the First Cabin because that's exactly what it is. A Bar. But it's a cool hang and you'll love the small and intimate vibe, maybe your liver won't because this place is all about liquor consumption. No food available so don't come here expecting to eat or you'll very disappointed and still hungry. The First Cabin is usually filled with mostly locals, but you'll fit in just fine even if your not that is, unless maybe you come in dressed like Boy George or something, than you might be escorted out. Ha. I've been here many times over the years. I like it when Pat Obrien and The Priests of Love play. Blues rock at it's finest. I think they only play Friday and Saturday nights these days but they have done that here for over 25 years and have developed a pretty consistent audience. read more
