HOUSE PAN ROAST GUMBO
Tracy B.

Went yesterday with a couple of girlfriends and we were having such a great time talking and enjoying the food we forgot to take good food pictures. The pan roast and gumbo we had mild and had just a slight kick but delicious. The watermelon margarita is so refreshing and dangerous because I had way to many. The service was amazing and patient. We moved over to the bar and Achilles was great. Overall we would go back.

Hallelujah~ I finally found my raw bar fix in the 626! Whenever I crave raw oysters, I'll be heading straight to the teapot fountain. Even better, when I'm craving a good pan roast, there's no need to go to Vegas Palace Station anymore because this place absolutely hits the spot. Loved the raw bar I'll skip the truffle fries next visit cuz I'm curious to try the bouillabaisse, clam chowder, lobster roll, and kids mac & cheese or kids pan roast pasta for my daughter. They were out of my favorite Kusshi & Hama Hama , but I was genuinely happy with the Kumiai. Next time, I'll gladly stick with a dozen meaty Kumiai instead of the tiny Kumamotos. Can't wait to come back for happy hour 4:30-6pm

A 10/10 first visit, and I'm already planning my return. I stopped in on a Sunday around noon, party of one, and grabbed a seat at the bar. The place was fairly quiet when I arrived, but it picked up as my meal went on. The space is really well put together: nautical theme, interesting art, and lots of natural light from the windows balanced by dark wood furniture. You can watch the chefs cook from the dining area, and the long full bar has a great layout. They also had Sunday football on two TVs, which was a nice touch. It kept things casual without feeling too fancy or too much like a sports bar, just a great vibe for an afternoon of football and a good meal at the bar. The bartender made the experience even better. She was attentive, friendly, easy-going, and engaging, and she was quick, too. You can tell she genuinely likes her job. I'd checked the menu beforehand and spotted the mussels and fries. I love both, so I had to try it. The portion is big enough to share, but it works as an entrée if you're hungry. The fries come topped with a truffle garlic mayo, and the mussels arrive steaming hot in a delicious broth. You choose your spice level, and I went spicy. It was perfect, with plenty of heat that never buried the flavor of the broth. I usually only trust mussels near the ocean, but these were cooked perfectly and won me over. The pairing with fries is one I never would have imagined, and it works. If you like garlic, you'll love the broth. As the mayo melts in, it turns creamy and almost looks like a tomato bisque, seasoned to perfection with a flavor I've never had before. Even soaked in broth, the fries stayed crispy. One tip: I finished everything and still had a lot of broth left. My bartender offered bread for dipping, but I was too full and didn't know it was an option. Next time I'll save room or ask for bread right away. I also tried the seasonal spiked apple pie cocktail, with a cinnamon-sugar rim and a cinnamon stick garnish. It was flavorful without being overpowering, the kind of drink you could easily have more than one of. I'll be thinking about this dish until I'm back, which will probably be soon. I'm dying to try the mac & cheese topped with hot Cheetos, plus a few other things on the menu. Highly recommend!

The happy hour menu has a lot of variety and some really good options. I wasn't a huge fan of the cheese grits, but the Brussels sprouts, fish and chips, and pasta were all great. The pasta was creamy and flavorful, and I'd recommend getting all the protein options on it. The fish and chips portion was pretty big, so it's definitely shareable between 2 to 3 people. The Brussels sprouts were probably my favorite, especially with the bacon bits and cheese on top. The ambience was really nice with a full bar, and our server was very attentive throughout the visit. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot for some happy hour bites and drinks you get your bang for your buck!

We came back here during Dine LA event. We had the (1) lobster roll and (2) chicken and sausage pan roast as main entrees. For appetizers, we had Brussels sprouts and salad. Everything was delicious. The lobster roll comes with regular fries or seasoned fries. We had seasoned fries. The pan roast comes with your choice of spicy level. Depending on your taste, you can have it very spicy or none at all. The flavor of the pan roast was very good. I had mine medium spicy level. If it is too spicy, you cannot get the real taste of the dish. The restaurant is nice and clean. Service staff were friendly. This place is located at a very busy plaza where there are many restaurants. There is underground parking but it can be a problem during peak hours.

New Orleans inspired menu, had a DJ on a Friday night for vibes, service was normal. Pan roast was delicious, could use more seafood flavor but certainly a comforting meal. Creamy and tomato-y. Shrimp was cooked well but the mussels were a bit overcooked. Would probably get the shrimp one next time instead of house specialty. Shrimp and grits: shrimp was overcooked, grits were fine. Super cheesy! Oyster poboy: pretty good. Oyster isn't my first choice but it was done well. Came with fries but we upgraded to the clam chowder. It was only ok. Chowda tots: fries and tots were very crispy, cooked perfectly. Toppings though made it more like a salsa or loaded potato. Nothing about it felt like chowder.

The Dive in Temple City was a spot I'd written off after a lackluster first visit. Went back recently and I'm glad I did. We tried a variety of oysters this time. They all sounded pretty similar, but the slightly more expensive ones were better. Looking back, my first visit was for happy hour oysters, so they probably weren't the freshest batch. We also got hot, crispy fish and chips, and steamed clams and mussels. The standout was the Bouillabaisse, recommended by our waiter over the cioppino. Great call, the broth was delightful and well balanced with just the right amount of spice. We went on a Saturday night and the vibe was a pleasant surprise. Live DJ spinning R&B and throwbacks, fun energetic atmosphere, and drinks that were surprisingly affordable compared to a few cities over in Pasadena. Glad we gave it another shot. I'll definitely be back for happy hour, which runs daily, though I might skip the oysters this time around. Then again, who knows.

Traditional pan roast with pasta

Amazing food, vibes and service! We went here on recommendation from a friend and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the Mac n' chowder, and it was a perfect mixture of clam chowder and Mac n cheese in a bread bowl. It was definitely a unique dish! The rest of my party ordered the traditional pan roast with assorted seafood, and after tasting it, I wished I had more room in my stomach! While I don't eat oysters, everyone else did and I heard nothing but good things. They even ordered another dozen (for a total of 3 dozen)! Service was fantastic. We were also able to call and get our names down for a reservation, which I'm glad we did since it started getting very crowded with a long wait during dinner time. There's plenty of parking in the lot and below ground parking structure. I would 100% come back here again and recommend it to others!

Ordered -Cajun fries -Raw Scallops -Oysters kumamoto (my favorite type of oysters) and kumais (which is ok) -fried oysters Drinks Lychee dream, ocean berry mojito, and hot honey peach Paid : 164 Everything was tasty, phenomenal, but we didn't originally want the kumais. It was sort of the only options they really had left. My wife and I originally decided to come by to try the hama hama but they were completely sold out which was disappointing but I don't blame them for it. Food and service here is always appreciated. Music pretty repetitive though but overall pleasant experience.

MUSSEL FRIES

Been wanting to try this place forever and finally stopped by for a quick bite before dinner. Ordered the oysters and mussel fries. Both were delectable and perfect appetizers before the main course. Nice and friendly service. It wasn't too busy which is great for us. Parking was a nightmare tho cuz their underground parking structure was hella packed and had to circle around triple times in order to find a spot. Wish they would add additional underground levels or another parking lot for this super packed plaza.

LOBSTER ROLL
Ryan S.

Been here several times, and the food is always great. It does get quite busy here in the evenings, but the food is worth it! We usually like to get something to share like the pan roast or jambalaya, but our recent favorite is the lobster roll. It is pricy, but they give you a lot of lobster, and it is delicious. Great place to get a variety of seafood dishes!

Steamed Clams/Mussels

Haven't been to the Dive in a while and I decided to drop by for a business dinner. We got plenty of appetizers and two entrees share. Out of the appetizers, the sprouts was the one that surprised me the most. The bacon and seasoning complement the baked Brussels sprouts perfectly. The calamari was whatever, I felt it was too battery for my personal liking but my friend loved it. The oysters were smaller than what I usually get from other restaurant but it still hit the spot. The entree was amazing and the jambalaya has quite a kick to it even when I ordered it at medium heat. There was plenty of shrimp, mussels, sausages, and protein in the pasta and rice dish. Parking in the plaza was atrocious because it is a busy plaza with a gym and other amazing restaurants and quick bites. Can't wait to stop by again.

Tiff L.

Have been coming here for years and that I've personally tried, most thoughtful version of Cajun food I've had outside of Nola! Have been to several across LA and several have closed down which goes to show you the fact that this place can survive how good their food is. - Shrimp Pan roast (best flavor of pan roast sauce outside of Nola I've had, wish they were a little more generous with the toppings, only had 4 Shrimp) 4/5 - Roasta (think pan roast but with pasta, generous portion and toppings) 5/5 - Cheesy Shrimp & grits (if you're a mac and cheese kind of person, you can't miss out on this) 5/5 - happy hour oysters ( I know these are meant to be not the best quality since it's happy hour but these oysters were so microscopic) 3/5 Ordering in is obviously good but doing delivery service is just as good

LADIES, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! Save your money and think twice before visiting this business!…read more Just as I have recommended this place to several people in the past, I believe it's equally important to share my negative experience and be honest about what happened. I visited with a group of new friends who had never been to this establishment before. Less than 20 minutes into our visit, we were dealing with a clearly intoxicated male & female sitting next to us who repeatedly accused us of bumping into him, not saying "excuse me" etc. despite the fact that we had only just arrived. He was clearly intoxicated. The situation quickly escalated into verbal harassment, and my friend and I were insulted and made to feel extremely uncomfortable. The man physically got out of his chair and yelled at us on two separate occasions, leaving us feeling unsafe and concerned that the situation could turn physical. We brought the issue to the manager's attention, expecting the situation to be handled appropriately. Instead, the individuals involved were allowed to remain at the bar. We were essentially told to sit at opposite ends of the establishment rather than seeing any meaningful action taken to address the behavior. As a customer, I should not have to leave a business because I feel unsafe after reporting aggressive and intimidating behavior. My friend and I ultimately decided to leave, despite having every intention of enjoying our evening. Several other people witnessed what happened. I am extremely disappointed in how this situation was handled. A business has a responsibility to take its customers' safety seriously, especially when someone is visibly intoxicated and behaving aggressively toward others. I genuinely wanted to love this place and had previously encouraged others to visit. Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my opinion. No one should have to choose between their personal safety and enjoying a night out. I hope management takes situations like this more seriously in the future, because the way a business responds to its customers when something goes wrong says everything about its standards and values.

Sometimes an open mic, but this week my friend Alyssa (the OCA of the OC) opened for Aparna Nancherla as part of the SGV Comedy Fest. It was super cool. The venue has a private parking lot that isn't huge and filled up pretty fast when I was there but if you get there early, you'll get a spot. Staff was super friendly with checking us in and great about serving drinks (2 minimum for comedy shows). They have $9 0% Heineken and .5% Corona Lights for my non-drinking friends (along with a bunch of other things like $5 bottled waters), a bunch of good beer options, and soju cocktails! Again, they had many other drinks but these were the exciting ones to me. Sound quality for the comedy show was excellent, as was their fun Astronaut City backdrop. Great MC & check in person, too. Overall cute, small venue for a smaller sized show or party with a capacity of 49. It'd be a great spot for a private karaoke party for work or friends and they give a free birthday bag if it's your bday!
