I absolutely love this bar! It's a cute spot with lots of TVs and a couple pool tables. I just had an engagement party at Progress and they were so welcoming and so accommodating. They have a form you can request at the bar to fill out for a reservation. We ended up not making a formal reservation but we did inform them about our guest count. They let us bring flowers to decorate tables and they even let us hang up a banner. I had so much fun and am so glad we were able to have our party there. The manager was great and she even went out of her way to make is a custom drink menu. They were adorable! The bar is really spacious so we had plenty of room for our guests. The drinks are yummy and I heard many of my guests complimenting the drinks too. The bathrooms and general bar are always really clean, which is a huge plus. Also, there's a great patio out back. There's no floor service, and the bartenders won't even acknowledge you unless you walk right up to the bar. ​There is zero waitress service, and the bartenders completely ignore you until you approach them. This bar in downtown El Monte. The space itself is really nice. They have a great patio that you can host parties at, which they allowed us to do without a fee, but unfortunately it rained so we took it indoor. Food is catered from outside vendor. They are great. One of my friends helped set up this event. The people themselves the bartender the waitress are very nice. We tipped them well during the event. The disappointing part is the management. We initially were told the drinks were seven dollars and then there was no fee, but somehow things are trying to get added onto our final bill and I had to argue a little bit. Unreasonable and absolutely unprofessional and for that reason, I probably will never book another event here again. It's unfortunate that their communication sucks. read more

Yesterday i attended a birthday party at Progress on Main and overall, it was a pretty good brewery . The place itself has a really cool vibe, kind of an old brick, industrial style that gives it character. We had a private outdoor room in the back, which was a great setup for a party. They also had games available, which added to the fun. For a Saturday night around 7:30-8:00 p.m., it wasn't overly crowded, There was plenty of parking, and most of the staff were welcoming, attentive, and quick with service. Drink prices were reasonable too,. The only downside, and honestly a big one for me, is the food situation. If you want food, You're required to order from the restaurant next door due to their contract (according to security at the door), and the prices are pretty steep. For example, $32 for 12 chicken wings with no sides just didn't sit right with me. We asked if we could bring in outside food (we were craving pizza), but security said no until the restaurant closes, which was too late for us. Because of that restriction, I probably wouldn't return. It's unfortunate, because the place itself has good vibes and a lot of potential. If they allowed more flexibility with food options, it would make a big difference. read more

On August 14, 2026, at approximately 6:45 PM, I went to a bar with some friends. After waiting several minutes to be served, I waved down one of the bartenders to get her attention. When she acknowledged me, she informed me that there was a designated line and pointed toward the center of the bar. I immediately went to the designated area and noticed that there were two customers ahead of me. I decided to return to the other side of the bar where my friends were waiting. After I noticed that the two customers ahead of me had been served, I went back to the bar to place my order. I waited for several minutes, but the bar was not particularly busy. During this time, I observed the bartenders talking with customers and with each other while I continued waiting to be assisted. The bar itself appeared to be clean, and I did not have any concerns regarding the cleanliness of the establishment. However, the level of customer service did not meet my expectations. After waiting without receiving any service, I eventually gave up and returned to my friends. I waited until approximately 7:15 PM, hoping that a bartender would come over and take our order. At one point, my friend was able to get the bartender's attention and speak with her. However, by that time, I had already made up my mind to leave. After waiting as long as I did without receiving service, I no longer felt comfortable spending my money at the establishment. I ultimately left without receiving a drink or any service. Overall, while the establishment appeared clean, the customer service did not meet my expectations. I made several attempts to follow the bar's ordering procedure and waited patiently, but I was never properly assisted. Came in Sunday before President's Day. Website says they close at 10pm. Got there around 730ish. Place was decently filled for a holiday weekend. Music was a vibe. We put in an order for drinks & food right away. Got a spicy ranch water and coronaita; both were well made and refreshing. Also ordered the asada fries and al pastor taco grandes. Fries were decent - crispy and a solid amount of asada, enough for about 3 people. The real star was the al pastor tacos. They were drool worthy. I would go back just for these. Around 8pm one of the waiters came around for final call for food & drinks. We were surprised since it says they were opened until 10. He kinda mumbled something about maybe it's just final call for food and that he'd double check, but that they were definitely closing early. We noticing they close the main door around that time too. A couple of girls walk up and the staff begrudgingly unlocked the door and let them in. Then they start turning off the tv screens. All fine actions if it was actually their closing time. Anyways around 8:30pm the waiter comes by again and confirms they are closing at 9 and if we'd like another around. We order the same drinks to make it easy. Big mistake unfortunately. Second round was bad, felt like they were rushed out. I didn't even finish half of mine by the time we left. I asked for the check and during that interaction the bartender asked about our drinks. I was honest and felt horrible when it turned out that he was the one that made them. Whoops. He was sweet, explained it got busy and ended up comping the second batch. He offered to remake them but we declined as they were closing early. It would have been a good visit if it hadn't felt like we were being rushed out before we were actually were supposed to. But I get it, when you want to go home you wanna go home. I left this place with mixed feelings. Went in to try it out on Sunday night, Yelp hours showed they closed at 10pm. We sat down around 7:30pm and ordered two drinks and two appetizers, were shortly after informed that it was last call. We couldn't get a solid answer from the person serving us as to what time they were closing. There were about 20 other people inside. So we ordered another round quickly, but were extremely disappointed in the quality of the drinks. Same drinks as first round, completely different taste. The bartender tasted it and said it tasted fine to him, but was kind and offered to make us another round. We declined so the staff could go home. The inside is huge, lots of seating available, open air windows and multiple rooms branching off from the main room. A long bar with seating is available. Pool tables. Clean restrooms. I went to a party at Progress On Main. It was my first time at this place, and I thought it was a pretty cool spot for gathering. Lots of open seating, big bar, and onsite activities like virtual golf and mini bowling. I kept my order simple and got a gin and tonic. Can't mess it up, so I was totally fine with it. The bartender was friendly, and he efficiently served our entire party by himself. I believe the food that was catered for our party was from Progress on Main. I had a slider, a piece of cheese quesadilla, a mango habanero, and a lemon pepper wing. The slider and quesadilla were solid, and I really liked the wings. I debated on leaving this review because I do genuinely like this place and go often.. but last nite I observed THE WORST service by server Yami... she did absolutely NOTHING. It wasn't very busy, but all she really did was stand by the end of the bar top and talk to some guy (assuming a bf) and paid no mind or attention to customers. She didn't greet anyone, didn't seem approachable just walked around with the handheld register in one hand and her personal phone on the other. Plenty of seating! The staff.... There was a security guard sitting at the bar then going back behind the bar to help himself to beer and soda. Bartenders are too busy playing games on their phones with other guests or talking on their phones to provide service. When we were leaving there was someone passed out in their car right outside the front door, another of them going in and out to the bar from that car. Some friends and I came for the first time to watch UFC 294 during the day, and there's not enough good things to say about this place. The first thing I noticed upon entering was just how big this place was. There's seating arranged in such a way to accommodate all party sizes, from small to large. They had a few beers of their own on tap such as a Mexican lager and Belgian ale, but there's also several other well-known craft beer options available as well, along with a wide assortment of spirits. If you're hungry, there's La Borracha Hamburgerseria sharing a wall with them on the east side of the room, where you'll find some of the best wings and sliders in town. And before you groan at "bar food," I'll have you know that while i'm not a big fan of bar food either, the food not only looked good, but tasted like specialty wings, and quite honestly deserves a review in its own right. I just wish I took a picture before devouring it. So whether you're here for a UFC event or any other occasion for that matter, rest assured there's something for everyone, sports and beer enthusiasts alike. read more

This wasn't it for me. I'm a local. It's great that there is a bar In Downtown El Monte, but a brewery it is not. The servers and bartender take a good while to get to you, flights are rarely available to non existent. Food is nearby and it's at walking distance so that's ok, but also have a menu for the restaurant next door to deliver. But unfortunately it fails to captivate or encourages you to consume more of their beers or drinks. Progress use to focus on their beer quality but unfortunately this place falls flat. read more

While I love and appreciate a fun and social concept opening on this street because I really do believe this street needs more bars and restaurants to liven it up, I feel like for what they offer and sell (beer and cocktails) and the use of the venue don't coincide. The vast space and spacious layout makes you feel like you're entering a club when it's meant to be a social beer drinking place. They have karaoke now, which makes it more fun but the big space makes it feel awkward. I feel the decor doesn't suit the ambience nor the menu. Cocktails are all bad!! Their menu of choices don't taste good but if you ask the bartender for a generic cocktail, they can make it well (not hard to mess up a recipe). Beer selection is good otherwise.
