M Bar BBQ is a lively Chinese snack bar that seems to specialize in skewers. The environment is very loud with both loud customers and loud music. They were playing the best of Andy Lau on the day of my visit. If you know you know. The staff here were all super friendly and nice. There was a QR code for me to scan and order, but staff came along to check on me sufficiently. They brought me water and complimentary nuts and pickled veggies. I ordered Garlic Cucumber Salad ($7.99), Oysters ($14.99/4 piece), Chicken Skin ($6.99/4 skewers), Pork Belly ($6.99/4 skewers), Shao Bing, Chicken Gizzards ($6.99/3 skewers), Chicken Hearts ($7.99/3 skewers), Tornado Potato ($3.50/1 skewer), Squid ($5.99/1 skewer) and Beef ($7.99/4 skewers). For the record I tried a little bit of everything and mostly took it togo, but I was curious about so many of the menu items I over ordered. They were a bit heavy on seasoning but it was mostly tasty and super flavorful. This is definitely the spot to go to if you want to catch up with friends and get a little rowdy. I can definitely see myself coming back for more snackies.

I've walked past this place countless times since it's right in my neighborhood, and I'm so glad I finally gave it a shot today. Everything was surprisingly delicious. The lamb skewers was the highlights, but truly, everything we ordered was spot on. The owner is very welcoming and friendly, which makes the vibe even better. Highly recommend!

First review of 2026 So my friend and I were hungry and was hankering for some chinese skewers last night. This place was surprisingly really good, reasonably priced, and the vibes were chill. Open late that has a cute chinese bar vibe with drinks and good food. Service was on point too. This place reminded me of the late night skewer places with lounge vibe in China. I love those places when i go. We found this place on yelp and tbh was hesitant at first because it was new and it didnt have a lot of reviews. There has been alot of skewers places popping up and most are over saucy or powdered to mask the food. But it was closer to where we were so we decided to give it a try. The place is pretty authentic and you know it is if its has local chinese customers walking in and ordering like they do in China. Lol i actually love the skewers places in China. Everything we ordered was surprisingly good. The spices and seasonings were not overpowering and well balanced. They let you order off a paper menu written in English and Chinese or on their qr code. The qr code is better because you can earn points and actually may get discount on your first order. Also the qr code allows you to easily you make adjustments to seasonings like if you want no spicy or less seasoning or no onion etc... removes the hassle of verbally remembering to communicate it. My friend and i were really surprised how good everything tasted and the price of alcohol and food was very reasonable. Even bottle water was like $.50 for Kirkland water. Some other places has the audacity to charge up to $2-3 for that. All in all will be back.

Good authentic Chinese skewers, always fresh and service was great! They have a karaoke system where customers can sing while dine in

Scallop...couldn't take a picture of the rest because we already ate them

My family came to M Bar BBQ after a late concert since they're open until 2AM. From the outside it's hard to tell they're open because the windows are blacked out, but once inside it's clean, and spacious, with plenty of parking out front. This is a Chinese BBQ skewer spot, but instead of a tabletop charcoal grill, they cook the skewers for you and serve them on a hot plate to keep them warm. We got lamb, beef, pork belly, quail eggs, scallops, plus the garlic cucumber salad--everything was really good, and the cucumber salad was a standout. Our daughter got the potato tornado, but they put a bit too much of their spicy sauce on it (same with the quail eggs). The flavor was good, just a little heavy-handed, so next time we'd ask them to go light on the sauce. You order by scanning a QR code and adding items from your phone, which made it super easy to keep ordering more. Service was good and friendly. The vibe was fun, with '80s Chinese music videos playing karaoke-style on the TVs, which gave the place a nostalgic, late-night hangout feel. Great late-night spot for skewers--we'd come back

Food is high quality, open late closes at 4am. The service is amazing, they don't speak much english but theyre willing to communicate as much as they can. Eveything is self order anyways. Very comfortable and fun to come with friends after a long night.

This skewers place is pretty decent in the area. They were well seasoned and fresh. I really liked their beef skewers over lamb. The clams were good but some had sand in it. The sever/owner Mike? was friendly and attentive. I would come back to try their other items.

It is a good place to relax, very nice food ,good price,I like it very much.Everyday when I finish work,I order some food, very enjoying~

I am not usually the biggest fan of bbq(a lot of bbq sauces aren't it for me)... but I LOVE Jake's, the secret is in the sauce!! It's sweet and tangy in the perfect way and ends up with a smoky flavor from when they cook it as well. I looooove the huge beef ribs here, and the chicken is pretty good too. I've also tried the baby back ribs, which my family loves but I'm more of a beef kinda gal. Haven't tried much else on the menu because I just love the beef ribs so much tbh. The fries and salad are good, some other sides kinda feel like an afterthought, but the sides aren't the highlight here. I like the "roadside" nostalgic vibe inside, and the staff are nice. Some of the staff have been there for a long time and know a lot of the customers. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, and when Monrovia comes up in conversation, I always mention Jake's :)

This our first time at Jake's Roadhouse in the city of Monrovia on a Saturday,we throught will be a busy night at the restaurant it wasn't there's were customers enjoy this meal then we ask the waiter for a table he looks around the restaurant and found a table for us. We sat down then we look at the menu to see what to order everybody order on their own but my wife and I order BBQ combo it's come with a half a chicken,Tri Tip,two BBQ pork ribs, two BBQ beef ribs and two sides,we decided pick potato salad and mac n cheese to our meal. The atmosphere at Jake's Roadhouse is relaxing and a feeling see classic interior sign from the past that you can remember those doesn't exist anymore but enjoy walking to back in time. The waiter but out meal our BBQ combo meal to our table it looks scrumptious good. I cut a piece of the bbq chicken it was juicy, and tender and getting that smoke flavor in the chicken. And a bite of the Tri Tip it was tender and cover bbq sauce it good but it little bit too much of the bbq sauce but I enjoy it. The bbq pork ribs were very meaty they so good then bbq beef ribs they were meaty too with good flavor. The potato salad were very good full of flavors in the potato salad and mac n cheese was amazing cheesy good that I really enjoy. Meal come two muffins they very good. Everybody including ourselves enjoy the meal we were very happy and next try different items.

First off, I totally recommend the Canyon City Sampler if you can't decide what to get. It can easily feed 2-3 people (I'd say 3, but 2 if you both eat a lot). Here are my thoughts on the individual meats and sides: Pork Rib - WOW. It's so tender and fall-off-the-bone. Nice BBQ flavor and just so good. (5/5) BBQ Chicken - Tasty with a nice bite and tons of flavor. I added some extra BBQ sauce to make it even better. (4.5/5) Beef Brisket - Cooked really well with a great texture. Soft and easy to eat. (4.5/5) Pulled Pork - Very good, but my least favorite of the meats. A bit drier than the rest. (4/5) Cornbread - Tasty and served with flavored butter. It's not the moistest cornbread I've had, but it's still super good. Recommended! (4.5/5) Mash & Gravy - A classic done well. The gravy has a strong flavor and is made from the brisket drippings. Tasty. (4.5/5) This place is a total hidden gem tucked away in a random corner. They serve really good BBQ at what I'd consider a reasonable price. Parking - They have a small lot for 3-4 cars, but there's plenty of street parking.

Wow I honestly wasn't expecting such a small mom and pop shop to be probably my new favorite…read moreHawaiian spot, but here we are. TK Cafe has thoroughly impressed me off first impression, and if I was closer, I'd probably be a regular here. For how much we ordered, the food didn't take too long to come out and genuinely, was so good. We got a lot here, from the garlic shrimp to the popcorn chicken, and so much more. The popcorn chicken was, without a doubt, my favorite item. We originally came here because a friend said they had the best popcorn chicken, and I'd honestly agree. It was crispy but also still a bit juicy and I feel like most places go heavily into the crisp aspect and it ends up just seeming overcooked. But it was a 10/10 here. The proportions are huge, so it's easy to over order. The crab rangoons were good on the portions and crispness and not overly filled with cream cheese which is nice. The noodles were good, pretty average, same with the Mac salad. The garlic shrimp was a bit overly garlic-y, but it was still good. If you're looking for a new Hawaiian spot, definitely check out TK Cafe. The proportions are huge and the taste is amazing. If I'm ever in Monrovia again, I'd definitely be stopping by!

Not too many Hawaiian spots in the SGV, but I'm glad I came across this one. It sits in a corner of…read morea large strip mall with plenty of parking. All the familiar Hawaiian items are here, and then some. They offer A LOT of different dishes, including a whole bunch of dim sum. And their beverage menu is extensive as well, from your basic teas to milk tea boba and slushies. It's pretty impressive how these folks are able to squeeze all this food in this tiny little restaurant. Decided to go with the dish that everyone who has been to Hawaii has eaten at some point: the loco moco. I thought it might be a good way to gauge how authentic their food is. Ordered a side of Portuguese sausage musubi as well. Yeah, I'm a pig. Loco Moco - 5/10: so yeah. This definitely isn't your traditional loco moco, or at least the dish that I grew up eating (808 born and raised). Two patties, mounds of rice, eggs (unfortunately served over hard...should always be over easy so the yolk comes out) side mac salad - check, check, check and check. But then they bury on the bottom of this dish a bunch of stir-fried veggies, which threw me off a bit. This dish ain't supposed to be somewhat healthy. And then they throw a very light brown sauce on it that definitely isn't gravy. More like a brown sauce you'd mix in with pan-fried noodles. Yeah, just not the way this dish is supposed to made. But at least they give you a lot of it! - Portuguese Spam Musubi - 7.5/10: this one was much better. All the elements were there, and yes, they used Portuguese sausages. Hard to screw up musubi, but believe me, it can be done. Two pieces come in an order and they're on the larger side. So yeah, a little disappointed. I will say though that if I'm in the area again, I might order some dim sum. Happy feasting!
