This karaoke is prettttty lit. There's an abundance of songs for you to pick. Some of the Chinese songs that I couldn't find in other karaoke places, they have it here. I came on a weeknight, so it was $38/hour. The parking was relatively easy. This place can seem a bit intense because they have a metal detector. They also don't allow water and they don't give water out for free. (It's by bottle). I like that they also have food. The food is pretty good. This place was just okay on my take. The machine is only in Chinese, so better brush up on reading it. Some of the light strips was being held up by tape. This location doesn't open until 7pm. We got there about 640pm on a Thursday and they didn't open until after 705pm. Please remember to bring you ID, they do check it. They also have a metal detector prior to walking in. You're first greeted by the bouncer then head over to the check in table and they have weekday specials if you like to drink. My friends and I didnt really drink so we opted for $38/hr. I was told they charge per minute.. so you do the math.. Everything was in Chinese, the menu was in Chinese, and they dont have a wide selection of music. I couldn't find bohemian rhapsody in the machine. Some of us kinda knew how to read Chinese, but it was a little hard to navigate the console. One of the mics were dying, so we asked for another one. Also, there was a LOT of reverb on the mic. The menu had some pictures but words were in Chinese. Water is not available for free, must be purchased (Voss) and soda cans were $3.50 each. A pitcher of juice was not a very large one for $16. Maybe fills 5 full rock glasses and I dont think refills were available. What we thought were fried cheese sticks were actually fish sticks. The room was located downstairs and I didnt see if there was an elevator for the people who have disabilities to take downstairs. The room was a nice size for a party of 6. It got warm and couldn't feel the air. The lights were taped to the wall. My friend noticed scotch tape being on the lights. I really thought on a Thursday night, there'd be some kind of a better deal! It's standard pricing and the deal for 188$ is mainly a discount for the alcohol. We came as a group of 6, bouncer in the front checking IDs and plenty of parking in the back (but I don't think we can exit the back). They open at 7 so had to wait a bit for the staff to open the doors, the place was very cool, but I didn't realize the rooms were downstairs while the front desk was just that one area when entering! While the start of the night wasn't so smooth and with everything sort of in Chinese, and I don't read Chinese, I was already feeling a bit worked up trying to get comfortable. I had to rely on others to help with most of the song choices and how to find the ones we want! But once we find it, we were ready to go. Ordering food was via a website, I had to translate the webpage because it was in Chinese when checking out. Most of the food looked amazing but they were mainly the usual casual appetizers and dishes which we ordered popcorn chicken, onion rings, fried dumplings (gyoza?), takoyaki, fried cod, and a pitcher of juice (photo showed raspberries but it gas eyes like cranberry). The food was surprisingly pretty good (popcorn chicken was spicy but I'm sure I missed the part to say mild?), kind of what I expected at any cafe serving the same dishes. Drinks wasn't enough but given water was pricey, 15$ stretched us pretty far. The lights in the room did make us feel like we would have a good time, but when we realized some were staying on with tape we had a good laugh and internally hoping the lights don't fall midway into a song. I still had a great time with everyone singing despite the difficulties in choosing songs (you can still find many songs in English). We were able to call staff using a call button to exchange a low battery microphone. Some songs didn't start with noise so we had to manually unmute them. Also some songs had different volume levels and played louder or softer than others (might be a recording thing as older songs were a bit fuzzy). The restrooms were similar to the ones I see in Asian countries, the toilets are separated by gender but the washroom is shared and outside. Overall, I had a great time! Not sure about trying it again in the near future since you have to come with friends you know are good vibes and don't mind a few bumps here and there along the way. read more

The place itself is very nice and cool looking, but unfortunately the experience really took away from it. We were made to leave before our hour was up because the next party had arrived. We were told our reservation was until 11:00, yet we were asked to leave around 10:45 so they could clean for the next group. What made it worse is that we did not even start our session until about 10:10, not 10:00. They said they only charged us for 45 minutes, but this is not about the money at all. It was my birthday, and being cut off early and basically rushed out because another reservation was there was disappointing and did not make sense, especially when we had an hour reservation that was clearly not honored. On top of that, staff actually opened the door on us and told us it was time to leave, which felt extremely rude and uncomfortable. Another issue was that everything is in Chinese. The menu and the karaoke system were both in Chinese, and it took us some time to even figure out how the device worked. No one really helped explain it, which cut into our already shortened time. Lastly, the drink prices are extremely elevated for what you get. If you book an hour, you should be able to enjoy the full hour regardless of who is coming next. It honestly made us wonder if there was some sort of favoritism involved. The venue has a lot of potential, but the way this was handled left a bad impression. read more

Throwing a birthday party here is pretty nice and fun. I would recommend coming here with a large group and singing the night away with friends or family. The location is in the city of Arcadia off Baldwin Ave. It was my first time at this spot and I would say the service for food, drinks, and having everything all together made it very simple and easy. The food came quickly with a ton of plates for people to munch on. The drinks were also just as fast when they needed to be refilled or needed more ice. You get a private room so it's only with the people that you invited. Overall this is a great place to let loose and enjoy a good time. SCAM ARTISTS ALERT! These people are horrific and will scam you. They overcharged us an extra hour and tried to charge us a mandatory 18% charge. When going back to argue it they said we signed it on the policy at check in and we never did any such thing. The girl at front with some guy never to her tried to show us and neither in English or Chinese did it mention anything. We put $0 for tip because you guys did absolutely nothing. Horrible service, nasty food and just terrible people who will try to suck the money out of you. Been to this place a few times and the first few times were great but recently I've noticed the quality go down. I just want to say that the inside of this place is amazing, by far one of the coolest karaokes I've been to. They have adjustable lights for the rooms and I've been inside the one that even has its own bathroom. The bad parts are that recently I've noticed quality go down as the floor was still quite sticky towards the inner parts of the room. Not only that, the budlights I ordered came in different temperatures. The first 4 were cold then the other two were warm. I asked for another budlight and it was still warm. I also remember asking for assistance for the machine but was told " I don't know either" from a worker and then never got help lol.. There's a lot of potential for this place but I feel some things could be a bit better. read more

I had been following EXP Barcadia throughout it's opening process, and when I saw I was getting karaoke that was walkable from my place, I was so excited. I followed along on Instagram and was stoked by how cool the rooms looked. When it finally opened, I couldn't wait to go, but there weren't any prices listed online. One Saturday night, my friends and I decided to hit up EXP after an event. We noticed that the Karaoke place was finally open, so after a few drinks, we decided to inquire about a price. We had about 12 people or so with us, and the Karaoke place was DEAD. The entire time we were at EXP, we didn't see a single group go in, just two intimidating security guards standing in front and a host waiting at the table near the entrance. My friends were taken about by that and figured they'd pass, but I really wanted to check it out. I saw how cool those rooms looked and we had a big enough group that I figured it would be affordable! So I decided to go in and ask while my group waited at the entrance NOPE! Not only was my group harassed by security and all of us treated like we were bothering them or stepping out of line, but the host was incredibly rude and the prices are outrageous. $588 minimum just for the cheapest small room? In this economy? You've gotta be kidding me. There was no wonder there was no one there. It's obviously appealing to a very exclusive particular type of clientele, but is really out of place for the neighborhood it's in. What a bummer. I don't know how it's still operational, especially with it being in an old bowling alley building attached to an arcade bar, which from the outside definitely doesn't draw in the kind of "high class" guests they seem to be looking for. My friends and I were happy to dip and get away from the armed security guards, but we all felt really gross about the whole experience and the way we were treated. Still hoping for a cute, affordable, INCLUSIVE, and friendly karaoke bar pops up for us locals who want to sing with our friends without some of us throwing down half our paychecks or rent.
