Quintessential California cool... Coworkers and I stopped in while in town for business... ST was such a cool lil local watering hole. The place is a stones throw from the beach so it gets that nice Pacific Ocean breeze coming through the restaurant which keeps the large doors open... It reminded me a lot of Key West and the bars/restaurants you find on Duvall St. They were slammed for a Monday, the friendly staff fit us into the bar area. ST living up to its name has a great local tap beer selection and nice mixed menu... If you're looking for apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, or lighter fare, ST has it all. This is one of those places that you could just sit at all night long, so keep that in mind when visiting - Great Cali beach town pub. read more

My husband and I stopped by Social Tap for dinner after a day at the beach. We chose patio seating to enjoy a quieter meal, and we were greeted promptly by Kayden. My husband ordered the $5 beer special and I ordered an $8 glass of Maggio wine. For our meals I ordered a cup of soup, a side salad, and a taco, and my husband ordered one of the hamburgers with fries. When our drinks arrived via another server, the wine pour looked quite light. My husband estimated it was around 4 ounces (I'm so sorry I didn't take a picture). When we politely asked Kayden if it was a normal pour, she insisted it looked "more than usual," stating they do 6-ounce pours, and then said "cheers" to me and quickly walked off. My husband looked at me and suggested I nurse it. The service pacing for our meal was also off. Another server dropped off my soup, side salad, and taco all at the same time, while my husband's burger arrived 5 minutes later. Having everything brought at once forced me to rush through hot soup while my salad grew soggy and my taco got cold. Credit where it's due...the food tasted great. The clam chowder had nice flavor and plenty of clams, the Caesar dressing was excellent (and I am very picky about Caesar dressing), and the taco was very tender, just cold by the time I ate it. After one quick check-in during our meal, Kayden vanished. We eventually had to go inside the restaurant to track her down just to get our check so we could leave, and my husband said she seemed annoyed that we came looking for it. Having worked in the service industry since I was 14 (I am now 66), I understand the business well. For most people, dining out is a luxury these days, and with rising menu prices and suggested tip prompts at 25%, service etiquette matters more than ever. Good food alone isn't enough when the service falls flat. We ended up tipping 15% instead of our usual generous amount. There are plenty of places with great food; these days, the difference is always in the service. read more

Nice eatery in walking distance to the beach as well as Airbnbs. Great food and service. Definitely a mainstay during your Ventura trip. They have a broad menu that accommodates many different food preferences and dietary restrictions. Definitely give them a try read more

Social Tap - Teriyaki salmon - Sports Bars Near Me - Ventura, California

First visit here. We chose to sit outside on the patio to enjoy the fresh ocean air. The beach is about 500-600 feet from the entrance. We came at the brunch hour so we ordered off their brunch menu. I got the Breakfast sandwich and my friend got a breakfast burger. We opted for just water today. My breakfast sandwich was as you imagined an egg sandwich to be. Cooked egg, 2 slices of bacon with aioli sauce on a toasted brioche bun. I got a side of hash-browns instead of fries. I would have preferred my hash browns to have a bit of a crisper crust but they were bad. My friend substituted sweet potato fries for the regular fries. The service was pretty good. Our waitress did check on us once our food arrived but didn't bother to refill our waters at all during our meal. I loved the low key vibe of the place. At least the patio seating. Just as we were about to leave there was a large party coming in which was a reserved table because we saw "reserved signs on it" and I heard the waitress asked how many dogs were there and the said 3. So I guess it's a pretty dog friendly patio which is a plus for dog owners. read more

Overall a very mediocre to disappointing experience. I hate giving poor reviews (as evidenced by my review history) but there were just too many issues to not warning others. Service wasn't bad but definitely not good. Drinks were unimpressive. For a place with "tap" in the name, they should have a better beer selection. My Ventura County's "best Bloody Mary" was meh- kinda watery. The food was not great but mostly tolerable. The Brussels sprouts were overly charred and sent back, the fish in the fish tacos and fish and chips was terrible (my husband and sister basically ate them just to prevent bringing down the mood by sending back more food). Positives were the buffalo cauliflower and the back patio seating that had space heaters. Maybe it was just an off night, but it felt like Social Tap is relying on its location to bring in customers. Someone needs to try harder. read more

Our experience was good. Was busy and staff apologized for wait. Honestly we thought service was great and not having all our dishes out at the same time worked perfectly. read more

I thought this was a family friendly restaurant? I took my children in for dinner tonight and was shocked at one particular waitress wearing what can only be described as underwear for "shorts". Her entire bottom was out on display, and her shirt was cut so that her whole bra was showing. It was extremely inappropriate. They have a kids menu, so I assumed this was a family friendly place that welcomes children! Four stars because our waitress Bailey was great and very attentive. read more

Nice sports bar in Ventura with many tvs to watch the game. Our servers were very nice however it was extremely slow to get our drinks. They were super busy which is understandable but also they should prepare for crowded game days. Food was good. Nachos were just okay in our opinion. Our favorites were the sweet chili chicken tenders, shrimp tacos and the margaritas. It's a good place to stop by to catch the game if you're having a beach day read more

Went here on a Sunday to celebrate ny brother's birthday ..expected it to be crowded and it was... so had to find parking on a side street and walk. We were a party of 10 and sat on the patio. The hostess was not pleasant, no welcome and no smile so I just walked myself to the patio. Service was slow and inconsistent..we had to ask multiple times for either refills, to go boxes and the check. In fact we had to get up and go into the restaraunt to track waiters down. The food was mediocre at best..most of the food was not hot, overcooked veggie burger, dried out fish and cold onion rings. Knowing that the gratuity was already included in her check for a larger party. It felt like they didn't even try. I normally post pics of the food, but it just wasn't worth it! Disappointing experience! read more

Great food! Took a little while because we walked in half an hour before closing but definitely worth it read more

Social Tap - Free Range Chicken Burger - Sports Bars Near Me - Ventura, California

Came here for Father's Day! Not crowded, plenty of seating indoors and outside patio! Food was good and fair prices

We recently visited and were disappointed by the overall experience. We weren't greeted when we arrived and had to ask where to sit. While the burger was good, most of the other food lacked flavor or wasn't prepared as expected. The chips weren't warmed or seasoned and were old, and the women's restroom was dirty and had no soap available. We were hoping for a much better experience and hope these issues are addressed. read more

Love this spot, good food, good tv/sports, good bar, prices aren't too bad either - not extreme expensive for being so close to the beach. They also have trivia, just unsure on which day. read more

As always, great service good eats and perfect atmosphere! It was a beautiful day for sitting on the patio little chilly, but the heat lamp was just right! We love coming here and bringing our little dog and enjoying a couple of beers... Servers are always nice and attentive. Highly recommend coming here! I don't usually review "meh" experiences, but the inconsistency here was too much to ignore. I came in expecting a solid meal, but the execution was underwhelming. The chips and salsa were served refrigerated with the salsa tasting more like unsalted tomato sauce than anything fresh. The sausage was pale and greasy rather than charred, and the omelette was dry and missing toast. On the bright side, the pancakes were actually quite good, though the single strawberry and tiny portions of butter and syrup meant I had to keep flagging down service for more. The biggest letdown was the coffee--watery and lukewarm. Ugh Service was pleasant, but the kitchen needs to step up the quality control to match the atmosphere. read more

I came here to watch the World Series. There are many TVs, which is an excellent place to watch the game! Lavender Lemondrop (but I ordered a mocktail). It was delicious. It tasted like lavender lemonade, and some lavenders were in the drink, adding more lavender flavor. The service was excellent, and the servers were friendly. I had a table outside. They only had a few heaters, but that was okay because I had my blanket. Parking is in front of the bar but limited. I parked my car on the street. It's close to the beach, so during the day, you may want to take a walk on the beach before or after lunch. read more

Good food and nice atmosphere and good service. Definitely will come back next time we are in the neighborhood.

The food was delicious and filled the craving I've had for quite a while now! This time the service was not as attentive or friendly. They didn't come back with some condiments for one of our plates for over a half an hour and forgot the second beer for the same guy so he was kinda bummed that time had passed and it wasn't even worth following up on. read more

Great location in Pierpoint with plenty of seating. They have a lovely patio with heaters and plenty of room for dogs. Lots of big screen TVs showing sporting events make this a great place to hang out. The servers are very nice and accommodating. The food is a mixture of really good to so so. My clam chowder was amazing and my shrimp taco was delicious. My friends seafood burrito was also delicious. Unfortunately my friend who had the chicken fingers and my other friend who had the fisf and chips said they were both a little dry and not as good as they used to be so I am giving 4 stars. We hope it was just an off night at the fryer and we can return and give 5 stars. The French fries were good however. read more

It's incredibly disappointing to see how much The Social Tap has gone downhill. We used to be regulars, dining there two or three times a month, but we gradually stopped coming because the food and service became so inconsistent. We decided to give Happy Hour a try last night, and it only confirmed our concerns. My usual order--the double patty Royale--arrived lukewarm with noticeably shrunken patties overwhelmed by a massive bun. The normally generous side of fries was so small I could have quickly counted them. My wife's salmon fared no better, served on a bed of cold rice. To make matters worse, our server was friendly at first but then completely disappeared. She never checked on our meal, and we had to flag down a different server just to get assistance. Finally, to top it off, they tacked on a $2.00+ credit card surcharge to the bill. I know it's probably in the fine print, but it still feels like a frustrating nickel-and-dime tactic. There are simply too many negatives now for a place that used to be a favorite. read more

The food was so good here! We ordered the pretzels with cheese dip & mustard as the appetizer and the pretzels were so buttery and fresh! The cheese dip was packed with flavor and has a good queso taste. For the main, I ordered the double royale with cheese, onion rings, and ranch. Everything was delicious and the ranch is house made so it's the good ranch! Also went during their taco Tuesday promo and tried the house margarita with the Tajín rim. I'm a margarita enthusiast and I will say this was a well made drink! Would definitely come back. They have a few other items on their menu I am curious to try. The vibes are nice here as well since it's right by the beach and they have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. read more

Everything on the menu is so yummy, the Pina coladas get you right & the staff is so fun!! Tons of TVs for games. Cheers

Amazing food..but even better service. Thank you Kayden for the hospitality!! Perfect first stop in town

My husband and I were drawn to Social Tap because of all the TVs. If you're a sports fanatic, this is a great place to gather. They have a variety of good food, a good bar, and a relaxed atmosphere. For food we ordered the gordita burrito and it was a sizable portion. Pretty tasty and the barbacoa meat was well seasoned and tender. We also ordered the ahi tacos and these were really good. Great quality fish and it had a great sear on it. Special shoutout to their garlic fries, I'd say some of the best in Ventura County! The service, however, was really subpar. The restaurant was decently filled, but the service was painfully slow. Slow as in waiting for 15 minutes just to get a water after being seated. Not only was the service slow the server also forgot part of our order and we had to ask another server to help us. Not only was the service slow, it seemed like the kitchen was slow too, since it took an absurdly long while to get our food. I will say overall the staff was friendly though. While service usually wouldn't knock off a full star for me, unfortunately seeing what another table experienced did. I don't typically write reviews for other customers, but when we were seated we overheard a couple asking about an order they had been waiting on. After a good 20 minutes, they had asked again. We received our food and then saw that they finally received theirs. When they did get their food (which wasn't a complicated order, just a couple of burgers) they had onions on it when they asked for no onions, they didn't complain and just scraped it off. At the end of the meal, they asked the server if they could mention it to the kitchen just for improvement and the server said "sure" in a short manner and kind of brushed it off. This elderly couple were so sweet and kind throughout this whole encounter that my husband and I were put off by how they were treated. read more

Good food, good service, great atmosphere. Love this place. Solid burgers and wings. Fried fish sandwich is a go to.

We came here visiting the area from Massachusetts. We figured we'd give this place a try because it looked like a nice place to grab dinner and drinks and it had an outdoor patio. The food wasn't great. The toppings on the nachos tasted similar to ingredients you'd buy in the canned food aisle at the grocery store. My girlfriend liked the sweet potato fries but felt as though her grilled fish sandwich could have been better quality for what we were charged for it. Drinks were good. Service was good. I'd return for drinks but not food. read more

Do not go here. Service sucks. Food was cold. 0 stars - this is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Do better.

This was our second time to Ventura. My god, I don't think we could have chosen a worse place to eat. My BBq tri tip had no flavor, bbq sauce tasted like some store brand crap. Even the fries were terrible. How do you mess up fries? The bar tender could not have cared less about us. No interaction what so ever once we got our food. The pretzel bites with whatever that cheese sauce was, wow. It tasted like a watered down cheap pasta sauce. Then our bill, for 2 lunch items and 3 drinks was $103. GTFO. Never again will I go near this place. Go to The Vintage Tavern. Great drinks and way more affordable than this hole in the ground. read more

If you enjoy bad food, this is the place for you. Last night, I ordered a grilled fish taco and a carnitas taco. I eventually found some bits of fish in the wet, tasteless fish taco. There was nothing "carnitas" about my carnitas taco: I'm sure that the pork came from the same pot as their pulled pork and half of the tasteless serving of "meat" consisted of a 1/4 cup-sized glob of disgusting fat. Never again. read more

My grands and I ate a takeout order from Social Tap last Sunday. We ordered to go cause we were wet and sandy. We ordered the kids grilled cheese sandwich, shrimp and chips, and the kids chicken strips. The grilled cheese sandwich had been grilled with seasoning which didn't go very well with the sandwich. The chicken strips were pretty good. But.......the fried shrimp was not fit to be served out of the kitchen. The cook or chef should have been so embarrassed to send out burnt crispy fried shrimp. The shrimp was tough. The servers didn't seem to care if we were there, what our food looked like or if the food was edible. We stay at Inn on the beach about 10-15 times a year. Crossing social tap off our list. Forever. Ambience is sports bar-ish. No big deal. read more
