Came by here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. It was the first time I had seen this place open and serving food. The aesthetic is very clean and upscale. My friend and I were hoping for a patio seat but were seated inside. Still a nice ambiance inside the restaurant. We were seated within 5 minutes of approaching the host stand. Our waiter clearly knew the food menu well. We asked for his recommendations on which ceviche to try. We ordered the Augachiles Ceviche which worked really well as an entree alone and I personally didn't find spicy. It came with these cute little potato taquitos which were delicious by themselves. We also ordered the Quesabirra quesadilla which at first appearance looks burnt. But it's just the color of the tortilla. The thing I did appreciate the most about it is that it stayed together while you bit into it, and you could dip it into the consume without fear of it falling apart. We also ordered cocktails, which did take a while to arrive, but they did tell us they were training someone on cocktails that day. My friend had an Aztec Old Fashion which was on the sweeter side. And I had a Jalisco Mule, which felt like it was made with either tequila of mezcal but still very good. Overall, the food was exceptional. My only concern is with the service. Overall, service was good, but I do understand they were busy and some of the staff seemed new and was still learning. But everyone we interacted with was kind. I love corazon! Seeing it on Main Street Ventura as I was walking around window shopping was such a gift! It's a little hidden, kind of tucked back. I went in with a friend and we ordered and sat inside. The interior for this location is absolutely gorgeous (see pics). My only issue was how long the wait for our food was. Even though you order at the counter it is not a quick service restaurant... the Santa Barbara public house location is way faster. Took about 25 mins to get our food. The table next to us that was a family with little kids were struggling with that wait time so be warned! I had the birria quesadilla and a side of Beans and plantains. Both were so so delicious. Perfectly cooked. Perfect birria juice for dipping. No notes. I tried my friends chips and salsa and it was really fresh, not too spicy, really yummy. read more

Been here for both lunch and dinner, so I feel qualified to speak on this. Corazón Cocina on Main Street does not miss. The standout for me is the aguachiles. They're not traditional and that's the point. Potato taquitos in aguachiles sounds wild, but somehow it works and I crave it every time. Counter service, easy flow, no fuss. Also, I'm sorry, but the reviews saying the food is bland? That feels... suspicious. The flavors are very much there. The coliflor taco and the tia Juana are everything. Crunchy, flavorful, great texture. Complimentary chips and salsa are always a win, and the cocktails are refreshing and crisp. Salsa mugrosa is my fave, smoky and hits all my taste buds. Perfect for a casual sit-down or a low-key date night. Yes, Ventura County has plenty of taquerías/taco trucks offering $3 street tacos, but this place is different. The ingredients and combinations are thoughtful and unique, which makes it stand out. It's not for everyone, and that's okay. The back patio is super cute, the interior aesthetic is on point, and it's been fun watching this space evolve and seeing how much care went into it. Came on a Friday night to try this place finally and was not disappointed. Mellow atmosphere, nice lighting, friendly server. I got a mezcal negroni and my boyfriend got a carajillo, both were so good but the carajillo was delicious. We started with the La Baja Tostada, phenomenal! Such a generous portion of fresh fish and shrimp tempura on the crispy tortilla, slight little kick of spice and the ponzu was so good. Then I ordered the sweet potato taco and my boyfriend got the quesabirria and the ensenada fish taco. We loved the blue corn tortillas. The sweet potato tacos were SO good, probably the best veggie tacos I've had in town. The consumé for his birria was so good, fish was soft in the tacos, the tortilla chips reminded me of my childhood family favorite mexican restaurants. So good! Will be back! Stumbled into this restaurant as a group of 8 after a Sunday's farmers market in Ventura and it's a seat yourself-order at the counter vibe and we loved it! My friend and I split a few tacos; the fish tacos were so yummy but the standout to us was the sweet potato taco and the cauliflower taco as well! Other friends got the quesabirria, tostadas, ceviche and chips and guac and all enjoyed their meals. The service was so nice the young girl at the counter was honest and sweet! Had lunch after a nice hike at the Ventura Botanical Garden. This place is beautifully done and is very clean. Customer service is welcoming and friendly. You place your order by the cashier and choose a table to sit at. They have a full bar as well. The menu is small but everything sounded different and delicious. We started with guacamole which was ok, my son got a steak burrito (smaller in size than we are used to) for $19 and he liked it. Both my husband and I ordered a steak taco which was a larger size than usual tacos. So with chips and guac we got full with just one taco each. I wasn't impressed with the flavors of the taco, also a bit too much liquid from the beans. We also shared a glass of beer and a cold Ginger aqua Fresca. It cost over $80 ... plus tip :( read more

My server mariana was lovely ! The ambience of this restaurant is clean , and earthy , lots of beautiful plants hanging from the ceiling, with a focus on wood accents. The strawberry margarita was perfectly balanced , i think that's very important for actually feeling the effects of your drink . The drink was strong but not in flavor , i would say 3 would get you pretty tipsy ! The Quesabirria was amazing , made with Blue corn tortilla , and a side a consommé it was surprisingly filling. Tiajuana Tacos still amazing as ever! I had to order it to ensure I had a tasty taco to fall back on. I tried the Mole Taco this time since it is the most mentioned in Yelp but I did not like the meat. The rice and tortilla combination with the meat was soft and nice to eat though but I did not like the taste of the mole. There was just something about it that I didn't enjoy. Corazon Cocina is a great addition to downtown! We walked in Saturday at 6pm and it took around 40 mins to seat a party of two. Norteno taco 5/5 giant taco that was loaded with high quality steak and so much fresh guac on a perfectly grilled flour tortilla (I opted for no beans) Ensenada taco 5/5 delicious battered fish taco Strawberry fields margarita 5/5 strong, with fresh strawberries, refreshing. We are getting pretty spoiled in the 805 with all of Chef Ramon's restaurants popping up from Ventura to Santa Barbara. :) On a weeknight this spot was PACKED. So happy to see another restaurant on Main St. thriving and bringing in the crowds. The community and locals have begged for Main Street to return to its glory days with busier foot traffic and support to local businesses, it's amazing to see how the community shows up for some good food and one another. On the night I came they were sold out of some Items so I went with some dishes I've already had at his other restaurants and that I knew I would like. Happy to report that they did have their famous octopus & shrimp tacos which hit the spot as always. The octopus at Corazon Cocina is always super tender and flavorful. If you like octopus this is a great appetizer or main. The tacos come just one to an order but they are big and jam packed - so one always works for me. The star of the night actually were the cocktails. I went with a classic strawberry margarita. It was a no frills margarita but it was done well. On the sweet side which is always my preference when ordering a fruit forward drink. I'd get this again for sure. My friend ordered the La Guerita which featured passionfruit and lime. She let me try it and I absolutely loved this cocktail and was grateful she gave me a sip. I'm coming back for this drink again and I'd highly recommend it if you are looking for something a little more unique but still refreshing and fruit forward. Service was nice and friendly despite them being super busy. They also were patient with us as we yapped and were the last table to leave. Saw Corazon Cocina VTA on Yelp and their menu looked interesting, so off I went. I got the Mercado Quesadilla, which is not your typical Basic Bro version of jack cheese and a flour tortilla. Taste is number one for me, which this definitely has, but the presentation is lovely as well. The artfully placed ingredients were also a terrific variation in flavors and textures. Sweet, salty, bright, and rich with soft, succulent, and crunchy alongside all on a blue corn tortilla. I got steak as an add on and that was tender, flavorful and juicy. I went here looking for something a little different and I found that, as well as a tasty, well balanced meal. I highly recommend Corazon Cocina ETA: I went back to try another dish. This Wednesday noon, my wife felt better after recovering from her medical treatment. I asked her if she wanted to make a road trip to try a New Mexican restaurant that just opened. We drove 2 hours to Ventura to taste tacos at Corazon Cocina. We ordered all their tacos. Unfortunately, they ran out of their sweet potato taco. My wife had the Tia Juana that features octopus and white shrimp and the Norteno that had skirt steak. I had the Coliflor, a tempura cauliflower taco, Ensenada, a crispy beer battered Ling cod fish taco and the mole taco the featured chicken mole. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant for tacos. I enjoyed all my tacos. Ranking them: 1. Mole taco. 2. Ensenada taco. 3. Colifor taco. I ordered the sauce on the side to sample. I love their Almomd Arbol Salsa. It had that smoke flavor to it. I spread it generously on all the cauliflower. My wife enjoyed both tacos. Her favorite was the Norteno. There's inside seating and outside covered seating in front of the restaurant. Came here on a Friday night with my husband and toddler and we were sat on the back patio which had ample room to fit our stroller and wild 2 year old lol. The inside ambiance is so elevated and costal and hope to sit inside when we can get out for a date night because it seems dreamy! We ordered the Kids Chicken Quesadilla, Large Classic Marg, the El Cali Burrito & the Sal de Mar Ceviche. No chips and salsa were offered but didn't necessarily see any other tables have them with so it's probably not a thing here! Kids meal options were great, my 2 year old devoured his chicken quesadilla and rice. 10/10 OMG the Sal De Mar Ceviche?! For sure the favorite of the night for me, so fresh, tangy, spicy and so unique with the chunks of watermelon & pomegranate seeds. Will be back just for that. 10/10. The El Cali Burrito was good, with steak & French fries inside but was almost lacking flavor after eating the ceviche? 7.5/10. Corazon Cocina's 5th restaurant is a welcome addition to VTA food scene! First Bib gourmand winning restaurant by this group was Corazon Cocina & Taproom at The Project in Santa Barbara and it is still my favorite- unfortunately Covid forced its closure. I loved the vibe, the food and I can't help but compare all of the follow-on restaurants to the Original. VTA ambiance is intentionally minimalist warmed up with greenery and wood elements. It features both indoor and outdoor tables. Our server was very friendly and the food came out quickly. Food -Guacamole with chips is accompanied by both salsas and is an excellent start to the meal. The Norteno tacos are delicious. Once you fold over the crispy fried flour tortilla, you taste all the elements in every bite; steak is tender and the beans, cheese, salsas & guac are good combo of flavors. I'm happy to have a C.C. location nearby but I honestly prefer the menu selection at the Public Market in SB. The taco/burrito options with dreamy birria and quesa-birria offerings served up with a margarita are the flavor-bombs that make me happiest but I still have to give the new VTA a 5 star for what we ordered and for ambiance. Would I go back? I'll drive to SB to get the food I crave but I'd still recommend VTA for an elevated date night experience. read more

The mole taco was flavorful and stuffed I almost needed two shells to hold it all in, which isn't a bad thing at all. The fish taco was seasoned perfectly. Atmosphere: quaint yet busy. We did a late dinner on a weekend and were able to snag a nice table in the back courtyard. Food: We got Shrimp Aguachile...I wanted to slurp up the bowl. I have not tried the food, this review is solely based off of the service. I was very excited to try Corazon Cocina! My daughter and I stopped in for breakfast a couple of weeks ago. It was 10:54 a.m. when we arrived. My daughter asked if they had a kids meal, the lady at the cashier, where you order and pay before being seated, pointed to the kids menu. My daughter then asked to order their quesadilla. The same woman then said that the menu for kids was lunch only and that did not start until 11. She then turned around and asked the cook if we could place that order. He said no. She apologized and said that they could not take my order for a lunch item until 11, which would be in 6 minutes. I thanked her and left. I have a few issues with how this was dealt with. First off if they weren't serving lunch until 11 they should've explained that and not offered the lunch menu when we were ordering. Second, I don't understand why they couldn't place my order and start making it at 11 o'clock, which was only in six more minutes. Nothing was done to try to accommodate us. As a new restaurant to downtown I am really surprised that they aren't interested in gaining new customers. That is just bad business and I will not be returning. We ended up going to Busy Bee Café. We were looking to try a new Mexican restaurant in Ventura. We found Corazon Cocina on Main St. Place was nicely decorated with white walls and green vines. Food looked interesting, so gave it a try. We got the guacamole&salsa with chips, chicken tortilla soup, barilla taco, barilla quesadilla and a large strawberry margarita. The margarita was yummy. The salsa was very good, and so were the fresh crispy chips. The guac was fresh. My friend liked his quesadilla, i thought the barilla taco was good, not great. Good meat, but overall tasted oily with the corn tortilla so I left the tortilla and squeezed more lime on it, but the chicken tortilla soup took me by surprise. The size of the soup was a meal! I thought it was very tasty and satisfying. Chunks of chicken, avocado, tortilla strips and balls of melted cheese in a tasty broth. It hit the spot on a beautiful sunny day that had a slight chill in the air. The service was great too. All friendly smiles. Unfortunately, it was pricey, but I guess that's typical for restaurants these days. The price of our meal with tip was $100 for 2 ppl. We don't eat out much so we allow ourselves a treat once in a while, but can't make it a regular thing. However, if we ever have friends visiting, or feel like having some chicken tortilla soup with margaritas, chips and salsa, we would recommend Corazon Cocina. read more

We were seated immediately and told that our server would be by to take our drink order. More than 10 minutes had passed and we were talking about leaving when our server came up, semi apologetic about the delay. He had already served others who had been seated after us. I think there was some poor communication of which server was assigned to our table or from the host to the server that we were waiting for. Fortunately, what saved the experience is the food was delicious and the server was being very nice after that point. To drink, I ordered the Aztec Old Fashioned which was very smooth and noticeably high quality. We started with the guacamole, which was served with house made chips and salsa. The guac was delicious, seasoned well and a touch of heat. The chips were perfect, not the flimsy type - nice hearty chips crisp and not over fried. The salsas, green and red, both were amazing and flavorful. The Ensenada fish taco was fresh and tasted good. Nothing wow'd me about this one, but it was good. The Norteño steak taco was excellent! This was the highlight of the meal. The steak was perfectly tender, seasoned well and accompanied by some beans and guacamole. The Chicana shrimp quesadilla was nice, but nothing special. For what this was, I probably wouldn't order this one again. Nothing bad to say about it, but nothing really makes me want to have it again. Despite a very rocky start to the point where we almost left the restaurant, I'm glad we got to experience the food and pretty good service after that point. read more

Welcome to Ventura, Corazon! I was thrilled to see the grand opening happening on my bday so of course I had to celebrate with my favorite tacos. This location is STUNNING! The tree in the center, the walls, the light fixtures, greenery; such a vibe! The food of course is the star of the show. The taco norteño is a must EVERY TIME! I tried the doraditos and that amazing crunch with the juicy chicken and fixings is a must for me from now on. The Ensenada taco was fresh and well cooked and the chicken mole is my husband's favorite. We got a side of rice and beans for our son and the portion is very generous. I've said it before and I'll say it again; you know the food is good when their rice and beans are good. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on their menu! And of course the celebration isn't complete without an adult beverage. We got the strawberry fields margarita and the Aztec old fashion. Both really good! Staff was hard at work and very friendly. Went for a ladies night out to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had hits and misses... currently they do not accept reservations. When we arrived there was a little bit of a wait, about 5-10 minutes. The decor is simple, chic and has an open air al fresco ambiance. I mentioned it was one of the gal's birthdays, but there wasn't any acknowledgment at all, was kind of bummed they don't do anything. We ordered quite a variety of food. The margaritas were good, but didn't have tajin to run the glass. The lemon ginger agua fresca was delicious and should be used to make an alcoholic drink! (Not sure if it's already on the menu?) The sweet plantains and side of beans and rice were perfection. They were sold out of the sweet potato taco, which was disappointing. The cauliflower taco was very tasty and had a nice crisp breading. The flavors were a great balance of sweet and savory. The ceviches felt like misses. We ordered the Sal de Mar ceviche and aguachile ceviche. The watermelon in the Sal de Mar felt oversized and seemed more like a salad not really intended to pile on a tostada and eat. The flavors all seemed to work together, so at least it tasted good. My friend ordered the Aguachile ceviche and hadn't read on the menu it was served on top of taquitos. The header seemed a little mis-leading when you think of traditional taquitos. Overall, we enjoyed trying the newer restaurant. We were in good company, but there are a lot of Mexican restaurants that compete and are seem to be a little better value in my humble opinion. read more

So excited to have Corazón Cocina here in Ventura. I stumbled upon the SB location years ago and have been a fan since the beginning! The owners put in a lot of work to update the spot and make it better than it looked before! I like how they are making use of the outdoor patio now- tucked away and private for a great bite with friends! As for the food, 10/10 as always. I ordered the Sal de Mar ceviche and it was so refreshing and fresh. I believe it was made with yellowtail that day, my favorite! Tried this place out for lunch last week on my visit to downtown. I miss the taco place that was there before, but Corazón really impressed me! I got the mole chicken taco, and a birria taco. I also got the lemon ginger lemonade. It was amazing. The mole taco especially has such a special texture, and delicate flavor profile. It's a good size for the price. They have a good variety of things on the menu as well. I really enjoyed the service and the ambiance. Casual but very calming! read more

We watched this place being built and were excited to try it out, no disappointment at all. To begin with the venue is classy and beautifully decorated. And the food and drinks are amazing. My wife loved the delicious Mezcal Paloma, it was perfect. The ribeye chicharron dish is crazy good, you will need more tortillas. Get the blue corn, fantastic. The seafood Tia Juana taco was to die for. We eyeballed the other dishes coming out of the kitchen. All looked as amazing. Richard was a great host and server/bartender to boot. Don't miss it.
