This is our go to when showing guests around Ventura. The ambiance both indoors and outdoors is great. Located in a beautiful old house, you can sit by the fireplace or outside with fire pits. The food is the best Ventura has to offer. We had the short ribs, shrimp dish, burger and beet watermelon salad. The cocktails were amazing as well as the staff. Today we ordered two lattes, and unfortunately the overall experience left a negative impression. The drinks were prepared quickly, but the customer service and attitude of the employees were disappointing. My name was called, and when I went to pick up the drinks there was nothing on the counter. I noticed two drinks sitting on a high ledge and asked if they were mine. The employee simply responded, "Yeah," without any additional assistance. What concerned me most was that the hot lattes were served without lids or sleeves. Aside from being inconvenient, that seems like a safety issue, especially with hot drinks. As for the lattes themselves, they were okay but nothing memorable. Unfortunately, the service experience overshadowed the drinks, and it's not a location I plan to return to. read more

Hadn't visited in a while so it was nice to check out their happy hour. I love that this place is still a good meal & order at counter and seat yourself restaurant; makes it less formal while still offering great food and drink options. Especially with a toddler (IYKYK). We tried a couple of things and shared them. The fish tacos were better than I expected. Loved the kick of the chipotle sauce on them and the charred pineapple was a nice touch. The garlic shrimp had a nice bite. I wish the spinach and artichoke dip were a bit creamier. As it cooled down, it wasn't as smooth to spread on your chip but still good. And their beef tallow fries are always a must and delish! Service was so friendly! The woman who took our order made recommendations on the menu, was very sweet, and attentive. Came on a Friday night and lovedddd the vibe. It was a perfect place for a date night and to meet up with friends for the holidays to catch up. Music not too loud and The fire pits and outside seating were dreamy and the drinks were so delicious and beautiful. Service was very friendly, they checked on us a few times and let us know when the kitchen was closing. We had the white tiger margarita, ventucky mule, and Jamaica margarita but with mezcal. All 3 were so flavorful and delicious and just the right amount of alcohol. I also ordered their fish tacos which were honestly perfect. Crispy, flavorful, fresh, no fishy taste. I have been wanting to come here for awhile. I didn't realize that it is Cajé Coffee Roasters is in the same shop by day until 3:00pm and then Ten Tigers after 4:00pm. We originally came for drinks but as that alcohol hit, we knew we also needed some food! I ordered the Jamaica Margarita. One of my girlfriends got the Dirty Bird and my other one got the White Tiger Margarita. All were tasty with no complaints. For food I got the Baja tacos, one friend got the ceviche and the other got salmon. I am giving them a 4 because even though service was great, ambiance is great the ceviche is kind of a rip-off. It's mostly cucumber and green apple with maybe every 10 pieces being the ahi tuna. It was a great flavor but they need to balance it out with more ahi tuna. I also give them a 4/5 because the music is kind of obnoxious. It feels like it's the same 2-3 songs on repeat. I get it that they are going for an Asian/jungle kind of theme but seriously have your playlist be like 10 songs. It's kind of like being stuck in a Disneyland line and hearing the same music or voice repeating instructions over and over. The patios are quite large with 2 front fire pits. I waited and waited not realizing that you have to order inside. I then went inside and ordered their HH GingerCat Margarita ($10) and their HH Garlic Shrimp ($12). Food and drink came out timely and at the right temperature. HH Garlic Shrimp came with 6 shrimp. Broth was flavorful. I liked this dish. Was it worth $12 for HH? Margarita was good. This is a cute mid-sized restaurant off of Main Street in Ventura. You can sit indoors or outdoors, and both areas look cozy. What I adore about this place is that you seat yourself and go up to the cashier to order your food. They give you a number to place on your table and then bring the food to your table. No longer do you have to wait for the server to come by your table when you're not ready and then not be there when you're ready to order; you're able to peruse the menu at your own pace and go up to order when you're ready. Happy Hour is from 4 to 6, so I ordered the BBQ sliders (without BBQ), which elicited a laugh from the cashier. My food and drinks arrived in under 10 minutes, so I was pleasantly surprised. I usually prefer wine, but I tried a cocktail. The cornstarch martini is a vodka and gin-based drink with a delicious foam on top. It's one of the best cocktails I've tasted in a while. Sipping on that delightful, sweet cocktail, I felt transported to a sunny beach. I don't know what they did to the meat or buns or how they perfected everything to combine into a mouthwatering combo, but the sliders were SO yummy. Not to be outdone, the fries tasted scrumptious. I know my way around fries and these fries were just like Pringles. You definitely can't stop at just one. The mixture of salt and other spices has definitely made these some of the tastiest fries I can remember eating recently. The menu also has a ton of other foods and drinks I can't wait to try. Best margie and late night atmosphere. Ten tigers has been on my list to try. I'm so happy we did. The service was excellent. It's the perfect place to have a cocktail and food. They have HH everyday except Tuesday. Tuesdays they have a limited menu that features smash burgers. The bartender was unsure if they have a vegan or vegetarian option. Once again customer service was the absolute worst. The staff has a terrible attitude including the manager. Hot Plates were dropped on the table by servers with flippant attitudes. Table was not cleared once meals were finished. Complete chaos when ordering . Food was subpar. Not worth treatment or the money. I remember when this location was a bunch of different businesses - including my hairstylist. Love the vibe. Casual California- order at the counter and they bring it to you. Chicken Frances -- basically chicken piccata - such a basic dish and holy cow done amazingly well. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the lemon caper and herb sauce was more like a gravy (all the better to eat it with a spoon!) and the mashed potatoes and wilted spinach just added to the delicious flavor fiesta. Really excellently done! Ahi Tuna Ceviche Verde -- this place knows how to create complex sauce flavors. The green mango, green apple, cucumber and ahi all were playful in each mouthful. I would have really loved some avocado in all the green-ness. Fried plantain chips - meh- they didn't add anything to the dish. If you like mezcal, give Dr. J's Medicine a try. Well balanced and smokey smooth. Hubby ordered Swizzle Me Timbers -- with a gin base and it too was absolutely delicious. Weirdly our food came before our drinks - even though the drinks are pre-made in batch. Popped in on late Thursday afternoon to try their new happy hour menu that just started! The new menu offers an array of solid drinks and food items! We focus on sampling their drink menu that range from standard to cocktails to speciality cocktails! Their French 75 was solid with booze! Perfectly made. Must order with the tiger fries, they are crispy on the outside and so potatoey on the inside PLUS they melt in your mouth (bc cooked in beef tallow!!). For $15 (before tax and tip), I was STUFFED. It made me so happy to see this space finally have something worth visiting. I spent most of my 20s having oysters at the previous establishment. We found out on our first attempt that the item we wanted to try was in fact not available during brunch hours. We came back a couple weeks later for an early dinner. I'm a fan of their setup. You order your items at the front where they also have a bar, take a number then go find a table. We opted for the last one out back closest to the exit leading to the parking lot. We both ended up getting the burger. I also got the beets with burrata situation. My friend got the margarita and I got their espresso martini. They're getting it done out here. I've been here a few times and love the food and vibes. This particular visit was smash burger night and I was excited because those are my husband's favorite. We were celebrating his birthday! There were a few issues with our order and getting the burgers right, b so much so I had to speak to the manager. He admitted there were a lot of issues and was willing to make it right. The only thing is I wish he would have taken the initiative to fix it before I had to approach him. I've been here for happy hour as well and didn't have any issues. Let me set the mood...it is an overcast day in Ventura but warm enough where you can still enjoy the gorgeous patio with a light sweater. I came at 3:30, specifically to have an afternoon latte (from Caje), and then just stayed for dinner. For those that don't know, Caje Coffee Roasters is open in the morning from 7-4pm, and then the transition happens at 4 pm. I decided on the Baja Fish Tacos and the server, so kindly told me I could still order the fries a la carte, so I did, Ten Tiger fries cooked in beef tallow...say less. The tacos were superb. The fish was so delicate even though it was batter fried. It was a very generous portion of fish that just melted in your mouth. I loved the softness of the blue corn tortillas,and the pineapple coleslaw with the Chipotle aioli was the perfect topping. The portions were very generous. The fries, just get them... They are amazing. They are served with ketchup and chipotle aioli... and trust me, if you don't like to share, tell your friends to get their own. They are that good! It is a self-serve style experience, meaning you get your own water from the water station, as well as utensils and such. I did experience the cashier to be very warm and friendly. She came twice to my table, offered me extra napkins (she knew ;) ) and then also bussed my table when she noticed I was done. I don't think this is typical because they have a self bussing area for when you are done with your meal, similar to Caje in the morning. Overall, do not hesitate to come here. Such a fun new concept bar in Ventura to grab some drinks. Ten Tigers is a cocktail bar and restaurant by night (morning is a coffee shop). I had been eager to try this spot since they opened fairly recently and thankfully some friends were down to give it a go. The restaurant/bar itself is very cute. Feels like you're on a porch in the south with the white banisters and the greenery. I love that they have both inside and outside tables. Outside was fairly busy so we opted to sit inside which was nice and comfortable. The vibes and ambiance were good. Music was playing but at a comfortable level that we could all hear each other talk. The decor was cute and thoughtful. Little homage with Tiger pieces from spot to spot but in an understated way that it wasn't too much. The menu was much larger than I anticipated. Loved it. They had one who page dedicated to cocktails / beer / and wine. The cocktails are truly craft and unique. The food menu was good too but we had just ate dinner so we didn't focus as much on the bites. Cocktails here are a 10/10. Everyone loved their drinks and we all ordered something uniquely different. I had the Dirty Byrd which was such a sweet and refreshing tropical cocktail. The look alone was Instagram worthy. I tried my friend's cocktails and they were fabulous too. From a gin pandan cocktail to a classic manhattan which was elevated with a cool glass, the drinks here are spot on. For food we just split the tallow French fries which were actually very good. Tasted lighter than I expected. Loved the pink aioli sauce and the presentation with a wire basket was cool. Definitely need to come back for a proper dinner. Lastly the staff here were very very nice. You order at a counter which I know not everyone loves but the gal behind the register was bubbly and sweet. I felt welcomed even with the more casual vibes. The gentleman who brought over our drinks was also very personable and nice. Staff here make you feel welcome and I thought the service was really good given it's a partial serve your self type of atmosphere. Let me start by saying the restaurant is Super cute! Pet friendly patio and very chill vibes. GO FOR THE DRINKS amazing. I had the new jicama marg (may be wrong) but it was perfect. My cousin had the white tiger marg and my bf the ventucky mule and we all loved it. The food is good but nothing to run here for. My friend had the Greek Lamb sliders and the Swizzle-Me timbers which she didn't like. However, I didn't taste them so I'm only rating my food /drink experience ! I would def get the smash again. It's counter service so don't expect to be waited on. You would order at the counter and they bring your order to you. We got our food /drink really quickly . Great service as staff is friendly and attentive! Such a cute place ! Love the fireplace . So much indoor and outdoor seating . A few parking spaces outback , otherwise you can park somewhere downtown and walk over :) We parked at the free parking by the museum. I would not recommend. What a great new addition to Ventura County! My husband and I are always looking for a great new dinner spots, and Ten Tigers is already one of our favorites. Right off the bat, this location is gorgeous and a bit more upscale while still having a laidback and relaxed vibe. There's both indoor and outdoor seating - as long as the weather is good, outdoor seating is where it's at. Beautiful, comfortable, and with fresh air. Creative drinks that are a bit more alcohol forward. Tasty and beautifully-presented. Not often can you find a drink made with Pandan, but here they offer the Kung Fu Pandan - stronger but with that great Pandan flavor. They also make a great Mai Tai. Delicious food. Their Baja Fish Tacos are 100% the way to go - some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The fish is so fresh, flavorful, and moist with a spicy slaw and grilled pineapple. If I could get an order of just the fish, I would. Their smash burger is also a great choice - one of the better smash burgers I've had, but it still pales in comparison to the FISH TACOS. They have their own lot behind the building, which is wonderful because parking can sometimes be difficult downtown. Coffee shop by day and cocktails by night, the cool open ambiance overlooking the beach is the vibes that are always needed I got the Kung Fu Pandan because we can always appreciate a good pun, and it was an interesting mix of flavors, although I think the orange flower water might've been a little too floral and I didn't get as much of a pandan hit like I hoped for, still so many other good looking drinks and nice people working so I'll just have to come back and try some more! They were tasty, but they are too small to share. So after two drinks, we ordered the ceviche, which was delicious -- different from what I'm used to -- but I would repurchase it. The vibe at that place is always nice. In the morning or at night, it's a place to be. Their service was excellent as well.
