Cool spot and fun ambiance. Small menu to order off but the food looked good. They have a non alcoholic section which was great. The non alcoholic Negroni was delicious. My husband enjoyed his margarita as well. The bartender was friendly and efficient.im sure we will be back for some tacos.

~ MIAMI NIGHTS MEET DOWNTOWN VENTURA ~ Jaguar Moon is pure fun from the moment you walk in. The vibe instantly gives retro Miami energy with bold pops of pink, purple, turquoise, and neon everywhere you look. It's playful, colorful, and honestly a refreshing change for downtown Ventura!! The drinks are creative, STRONG, and very thoughtfully made (exactly what you'd expect from the team behind Good Lion and Cocktail Trust). My husband is a big fan of the Oaxaca Old Fashioned and mezcal-forward cocktails, but honestly you can't go wrong. Happy hour (Mon-Fri, 4-6pm) is a solid deal with quality $10 cocktails and a $5 shot, which feels more than fair for the craftsmanship. One thing to note: drinks are ordered at the bar, food is ordered separately at the back window. Seating is open, so grab a spot when you see one, no host stand here. The space is large, social, and lively, with a great patio out back with a fun crowd and it somehow manages to feel both buzzing and relaxed at the same time. Staff deserves a huge shoutout!!! Friendly, knowledgeable, and keeping things moving even on packed nights. And if you're hungry, Cocina Jaguar inside serves up some of the best tacos and other Yucatán-style dishes.

Jaguar Moon is such a fun addition to the downtown bar scene. The space is spacious inside with bold, playful decor, and there's also a lovely patio out back that's perfect for hanging out with friends. Music is always on point with a great mix of cumbias, reggaeton, and other Latin hits that really set the vibe without being overwhelming. This spot is owned by the same group behind Good Lion, with sibling bars Cocktail Trust and Strange Beast just down the street, so the cocktail program is solid and thoughtfully done. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4-6pm and is a great deal. $10 cocktails like the Oaxaca old fashioned, paloma, and margarita, plus a $5 shot, which feels more than fair for the quality. I'm personally a big fan of the mezcal negroni and the Oaxacan cobbler. Both are well balanced and consistently made. Shoutout to Jesus and the whole team for being attentive, welcoming, and for making some of the best cocktails in town. Bonus points because Cocina Jaguar is located in the shared space and serves delicious Yucatán-style Mexican food by Chef Ramón Velazquez, a Bib Gourmand winner. It's the perfect pairing with the drinks. Overall, prices feel right for quality cocktails, usually in the $11-14 range. Lively, well curated, and definitely worth a visit whether you're stopping by for happy hour or a full night out.

The watermelon fix (tequila and mezcal) will fix your life... and so will this restaurant's vibe and decor. Once I came across this spot, I knew I had to come back. Great bartenders. An attached (but separate) taco spot. Colorful but tasteful vibes. And! Internet. For those of you who like to work and enjoy a beverage or two. I cannot recommend Jaguar Moon enough! Visit them! Stay for a while. You won't regret it... and you'll walk away with some cute selfies too.

Our favorite food here is the ahi tuna appetizer and the ribeye taco. They are 12/10 for sure. The Paloma is good. I do not personally enjoy the frozen mango margarita, it's too strong hah so if you like it strong, you will enjoy it. The ordering system is a little inconvenient. I tried the QR code on the table but it didn't work. You have to order food separately and drinks at the bar. So essentially two lines if you want to eat and drink. The vibe is good. Not overly packed on Friday night but not empty either. I missed the flan last visit so will have to order that next time!

5/5, that's right! Husband found this gem online and we decided to stop by and give it a try. The drinks haven't disappointed: delicious and strong. They have a little of everything for your liking: vodka, mezcal, tequila, rum, etc. ambiance is very chill, welcoming and colorful. This spot is spacious with plenty of room to move around freely and sit wherever you please. They have an outdoor area that is open and airy. The best part of this place is their music selection. If you're a fan of Latin pop music from 90's and early 2000's, this is your spot! Whoever handles the music... my hat off to you. I feel very at home here. Can't wait to come back and have an entree or two (or three). PS. Parking is no problem as there is free parking lots all around the area. Service is exceptional and everyone is really friend. BIG PRO: they are dog friendly.

We came here two days in a row. We love the vibes! We were kidnapped by a beautiful drag queen too hehe we loved it! Great drinks, the vampiro is great, and the other drink I can't remember what it was but it's like a coffee type drink, it was ok. I loved the ice cube. We wanted asada tacos here but they were out of asada. We just love the whole vibe here and 10/10 recommend. Drink prices aren't too bad as well.

Yes please , I am coming back, I don't mind driving 1.5 hrs to come and have a delicious mezcal . They have a he we t selection of mezcal. So come and join me and enjoy a great mezcal shot

This is a cool place in Ventura. The oaxacan old fashion I got was very good and the cube had a neat jaguar design in it! The staff was super nice and friendly and my friends all enjoyed their drinks overall. The vibe and atmosphere and decor was very cool with like a speakeasy type vibe. We didn't try the food, so no comment on that.

Absolutely loved the vibe of this place. Decor and atmosphere was great. Lots of seating options. Service was amazing. Prompt and so helpful. Order the potato flautas and a mushroom tlayuda. They were able to accommodate to make them vegan and it was so good. The cocktails were on point. I love seeing new delicious restaurants in my hometown.

Very cool decore inside. Server was friendly and high energy. Wait time was adequate. Happy hr was offered most of the day on Saturday which was a bonus. Drinks were unique and crafty.

Great new tequila bar downtown from the same family as Cocktail Trust and Strange Beast. Right off the bat, great lively vibe with wide open space and wonderful decor. Our first time here, we stopped by for drinks after having dinner at Model Citizen - wonderful way to end date night! And love that it's slightly off the beaten path of main street so it's not quite as slammed. A good selection on their cocktail menu, and they have a wide variety of tequila. Their Harvey Leche and classic margarita are both good choices, but I have yet to find one of their signature cocktails that really draws me in and makes me want to come back for it. If you're not the biggest tequila fan, they do have some slushie/icee type drinks that are on the sweeter side and a good alternative. If you're looking for food, Cocina Jaguar is a separate restaurant inside Jaguar Moon that serves food. You can either order at the counter or from the QR code at your table, which makes it super easy. Delicious food but definitely on the pricier side. We've come both during the week and on the weekend. No issues finding seating during the week, but it gets BUSY on a Saturday night. Be prepared to either stand or wait for a space to open up. Service is definitely hit or miss. Wish I knew her name, but there's one female server there who always provides the BEST service. Otherwise, it's been very slow, even on nights where the bar is pretty empty. Overall, there's a couple other places I'd choose to go in downtown over Jaguar Moon, but it's still a great choice for a drink out.

Another great visit to Jaguar Moon on Cinco de Mayo. We sat at the bar and got great recommendations from the bartenders on what to order. I was looking forward to their $5 tostadas for Cinco de Mayo, but didn't realize their main kitchen closed at 9pm and they turn to a late night menu. It was about 9:15 when we tried to order from both their normal menu and Cinco de Mayo menu. When we decided to pass on the late night menu, they went out of their way to find us at the bar and allow us to order the tostadas. I'm so glad they did because they were SO GOOD! We had one chicken and one pork. They were a little spicy but so flavorful and the tostada didn't get soggy. Tamarindo Sling and Jamaica Mules are great non-tequila options that we tried.

Good drinks and good food. Plenty of seating outside. It was a good fit for our group. Was quite a surprise when last night we arrived to find a private event happening. I realize that the Tavern hosts private events, I saw that on the website. Neither Katie nor I discussed the possibility of a conflict when I spoke with her, so part of this is on me, but as the event coordinator, most of it was on her. Doesn't she have a main calendar for events? Because if she does, we weren't on it. The security fetched Katie, and she matter-of-factly stated that they were hosting a private event, so the venue was not available. She never apologized, seemed to not care that we had 30-40 people showing up at a place that was now unavailable to us. She stated, again matter-of-factly with no apology, that it was wedding season and events were her priority. So, the Tavern? Probably a great place for events, and a fun bar with good food, but their event coordinator definitely needs better communication and better organization. We will no longer be meeting there, needless to say.

We were ready to walk out, but our drinks finally arrived. I suggested we ask for the check sooner than later, considering how long it took to get our drinks. (Others who arrived after us did not seem to have to wait as long as we did.) Moments later, the vibe completely turned around when the bartender blew a conch shell to award a patron a Ventiki fez, accomplished after drinking all 60 cocktails on their in-house passport. That energy really helped recapture any aloha we felt upon arriving and we ended up staying for hours and chatting with staff. The place redeemed itself. We promised to return with some friends shortly who were driving through Ventura. We stepped out to grab coffee while waiting for our friends to arrive. We were excited to show them this place. When our friends got there around 4pm, they received an incredibly cold greeting at the entrance. They sent us a text and we told them we were a block away having just picked up a coffee and heading their way. When we all arrived together, a bouncer was at the front stand, boorish and inhospitable... his immediate attitude was downright insulting. (He wasn't around when we were there earlier.) He had previously refused to seat our friends at a table for four--even though we were just a block away--demanded we throw away our coffees, and asked us for ID. (My husband and I are in our late 50s/early 60s, and friends late 40s.) We literally had just been there for a couple hours and spent a good amount of money. Sure, I understand places have policies, but this attitude was COMPLETELY different than when we were there earlier. The bouncer was a self-important jerk about the whole thing. We went from giving them a second chance after they rekindled the aloha spirit to being completely turned off by the bouncer's egomaniacal attitude. Again, 4pm Sunday, no line or anything. Not some nightclub. Utterly unnecessary brute at the front. Rude and completely uninviting customer service. We ended up going down the street to a local brewpub that welcomed us, no attitude, no carding, and they didn't bat an eye at our coffee cups. AND when we parted ways with our friends, they told us they swung by Ventiki to talk to the manager. The manager told them she supports her bouncer and was unapologetic. If there was a society for tiki lounges with a membership card, this place should have their card revoked. They are not worthy. Tearing up the fez passport I started and will never set foot in there again.
