I love Rumfish! Went in late July (whoops, late review) and was very happy with the food and service. They have great virgin mocktails and the wait staff was very friendly and doted on us all night. I got my favorite, their ceviche, and as always it was delish! I also just love the vibe in here, whether you're in their beautiful outdoor patio (reserve a table if you want to be there!) or inside.
I must say... this may be the best restaurant in Ventura! High praise on the service. Waitress was always checking in, great recommendation and so polite. That alone always gives a restaurant a huge boost. But on top of that, the cocktails were all great and the food was amazing. I love how you can mix and match the tacos. That's a game changer! I was able to add a taco and get 4 and do half pork and half fried fish. Getting that variety allowed me to share And try different dishes. Incredible. We sat outside and weather was perfect. Great vibes all night. This is the place to be when visiting Ventura!

If you love seafood, you gotta check this place out in Ventura. Located right off Main Street, you will find them in the middle of Palm Street. Great ambiance and decor at this resteraunt. They have a bar with TVs so good place to catch sports as we are there for the World Cup. We ordered the grilled malhi tacos and the tuna melt. Both dishes will run you around $20 bucks and THE QUALITY HERE IS SUPERB. Food is very flavorful and fresh. Both items were a 10/10 and can't reccomend enough. Cant wait to come back and try a couple dishes that caught my eye from their menu. Thanks Rumfish y Vino for the great food and hospitality. Till next time!
Have been here many times but it's been a while, seems like happy hour or the kitchen has changed! Service was fine and patio was lovely as always. Ordered the usual Watermelon Mojito and fish taco. The tortilla was extremely oily and flat and smooth unlike any tortilla I've seen. The grilled mahi mahi was very overcooked, dry and almost dusty tasting, I did not finish the taco. Fries were okay. I've been here for many meals but something seems to be different! I usually love the flatbread pizza, the leche de tigre ceviche is not what you'd hope of a true leche de tigre. Dragonfruit caipiroska is on the bland side but love the mojito. Still enjoy the $9 and $10 wines and cocktails.
Remarkable food, service and ambiance! Service is always on point here, outstanding happy hour and the entrees for dinner superb! Had a few items of honorable mention: the mussels, ceviche and the flatbread pizza- unreal! Also, very nicely crafted cocktails and wine list, my hats off to the persons who chose the wines! Absolutely epic experience and highly recommend coming here over and over.
Exploring Ventura downtown. A friend suggested this place. We had lunch there. Nicely decorated courtyard area, friendly and fast service. Good food quality at reasonable price points. The goat cheese flatbread was absolutely wonderful ! I had the fish taco - also very good. BTW - the prices have gone up so the pricing on the yelp website were old prices.
Was lucky enough to get the table in front of the fireplace on the patio. All the food was fantastic. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. The margaritas are killer! Great bar. Attended a event there in their banquet space and that was also wonderful.
We came here right after going to the beach, and it was definitely a nice place to relax. I really loved the outdoor area, and the overall ambiance was beautiful and inviting. We ordered a few drinks, which were good, along with the crudo. Unfortunately, the crudo dish was the one dish that really disappointed me. The fish seemed like it had been frozen--it lacked flavor and had a slightly chewy, tough texture. I definitely wouldn't order that again. The seafood dish with chorizo, however, was actually very good. We also ordered the Wagyu burger with garlic fries, which was delicious, and the cochinita pibil tacos, which were also enjoyable. Overall, everything was good except for the hamachi. The drinks were fine, the atmosphere was nice, and we had a pleasant experience. That said, it wasn't really a "wow" experience that would make me want to come back. For the price, I think it's okay, but I wouldn't say it's an especially great value.
Rumfish y Vino for Mother's Day. We made a reservation a week before and only had to wait about 10 minutes past our time, which honestly was not bad for such a busy day. The restaurant has a really cute Mediterranean/Italian vibe with gorgeous lemon trees and comfy patio seating. It was chilly outside, but the heaters made it comfortable. Staff was friendly, just very busy because of the holiday. Food took around an hour, but understandable for Mother's Day. The food was excellent. I got the flatbread with apricot jam and bacon, and it was such a good mix of sweet and savory with fresh arugula on top. Definitely recommend it. My boyfriend got the wagyu burger medium with fries and everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. Other people at our table got shrimp and corn, fish tacos, and burgers, and everything looked really good. Great place, will come back
I honestly hate eating out because my partner went to culinary school, so the food we cook at home is always superior - this spot, however, we would come to again & again. The vegan cauliflower tacos were so good, & my partner also really loved their dish! Only restaurant we've been to that has impressed us both, & yes we've been to a lot lol.
After a recommendation from a friend, the fam and I went to this magical little spot in Ventura. We sat outside in the ferry lit alley. Service was exceptional. The server was sweet, knowledgeable, and she recommended a good wine and food. we had the quinoa salad to start, which was actually so delicious that I want to replicate the recipe if I can. Totally fresh and flavorful and ahem, healthy. We also had the goat cheese flatbread, which was absolutely delicious. For the Main, I personally had the hanger steak, which was fantastic. Great chimichurri and delicious broccolini accompanied it. One of my Rugrats had the burger which he said was the best Wagyu he's ever had. The other one had the cauliflower tacos and she was very satisfied. Hubs had the fish tacos which he devoured so I'm assuming he would give it a thumbs up. I had a nice cocktail to start and a glass of local wine to finish and I was very satisfied overall. I highly recommend coming here for a superb dinner experience.
I had a few places in mind, what made me decide to come here was seeing their lunch menu. NGL I remembered the service not being the best but decided go anyway. It hasn't changed. We had to ask to ask several different people for the same thing. We enjoyed our food. The salad was chefs kiss. The outside patio is beautiful.
We stopped in for lunch after our friends recommended we try Rumfish. We were seated on the patio by a very friendly and attentive waiter. He recommended a few drinks and an appetizer to get us started and they were all great! We both had fish tacos, and ceviche, both very fresh, delicious and filling. Our drinks were delicious, and the alcohol in my margarita may have been skipped, but it was still tasty. Parking was easy on the street and the area is full of shops, restaurants and bars. Very fun and safe to walk around. Rumfish was very inviting, not loud and we felt very welcomed when we arrived. We highly recommend a stop here. Cheers!

My boyfriend and I ate at Rumfish y Vino during a weekend trip to Ventura. We went on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and were seated on the patio without a wait. It was quite busy however; I definitely think you would want a reservation on a busier Friday or weekend evening. There is limited street parking, but there's also a parking lot down the street - about a 5 minute walk. Aesthetically, this restaurant is extremely pretty. The patio area is super nice with all the lights, fireplace, and live plants. It was definitely a vibe sitting outside during a pleasant California evening. Our server was good. She was very friendly and talkative. She did forget a couple minor things, but it was nothing deal-breaking. For food we started with the Clams. This was a very good start. The broth was exceptional; especially when dipped into with the bread. They aren't skimpy with the clams either, there is a good amount in this dish. We also got an order of the Garlic Fries. Again, excellent; as a self-proclaimed fry snob, these checked every box for me. For mains is where they lose a few points unfortunately. My boyfriend ordered the Creole Seabass and did not like it. He said the coconut pan sauce paired with the coconut rice completely overpowers the entire dish, making it very sweet. He didn't end up finishing it. I got a daily special. I can't remember exactly what it was called, but it was some sort of grilled fish on top a wedge of polenta, served with a green sauce. Flavor-wise, I enjoyed mine a lot more; however the polenta was very bland and contributed nothing to the dish. I would definitely return, might take some convincing on my boyfriend's part however. read more

Let me start this review by saying a reservation is highly suggested. As you walk in the ambience is absolutely beautiful. There's indoor seating, but why would you want to sit indoors when they have such a beautiful outdoor area? Surrounded with lemon trees, trellis with bind plants covering for shade. As soon as you sit down the staff is on it. Immediately we were off for drinks. I love good service. This will have me coming back time and time again but let me just say the food here is so good. I have been here several times now and it has not disappointed. You could pick anything on the menu and it will be magnificent. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here as this is a special place to have a celebration and to be honest just a casual dinner as well. read more

Found the best two appetizers!! Hanger Steak Garnachas and Conch Chowder. I absolutely loved the Hanger Steak Garnachas, the steak was perfection and combination with the rest of the stuff, especially the avocado and sweet potato was heavily. Somewhat overrated! I'd found Rumfish y Vino on Yelp and made a dinner reservation well in advance. When we arrived, we chose to sit on the heated patio, which had a nice ambiance with trees wrapped in string lights. For drinks, I got a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was fine - not as light and crisp as I'd hoped. We started with the Octopus Tostones, Tropical Ceviche (Special), and Smoked Fish Spread. Portion sizes were small, and none of these items really blew me away. The octopus and fish were both fresh with nice texture, but the flavors were just bland. I got the Mussels as my entree, which had a nice garlicky sauce. But the best dish of the night was my partner's Creole Seabass. The texture was very soft, and this item actually had flavor. We shared the Apple Crumble for dessert, and even this felt like something was missing. Service was friendly and quick. Nothing was necessarily bad, but considering the price point, I would choose a different spot next time. read more
It was our second time visiting this spot and we loved it! We were on our way back to La from Santa Barbara and decided to pass by. Ambience, food, drinks, service, everything was great. Ventura is a quaint little town so having a nice bar right next to the restaurant makes this spot very convenient for a night out. read more
Lunch was amazing. Our waiter has absolutely amazing customer service. He seated us under a fan (it was really hot) and he checked the table as we were seated. The table wobbled and he instantly fixed it. The food was bomb, very refreshing and the drinks were strong being from the happy hour menu. Came in with an 8:45 reservation for valentine's day. We grabbed a drink at The Livery next door while we waited because we were early and our table at rumfish was also early. The patio was nicely lit and warm despite the cold weather outside was. We had great service from Kelly despite how busy it was. We always get the apricot habanero bacon flatbread and pork belly tacos, they're so so so good I can't recommend them enough. Tangini is also my go to drink but they had some valentine's day specials that were great too. We got dessert for the first time, pot de creme, really yummy! Great place to spend Valentine's day. read more

We loved this spot. Found it while searching for dinner spots and it's just off a side street from main st. Located next to this brick bar building, it looks empty when you drive by, but once you enter the restaurant, the patio is full of life. We were stunned by the incredibly tall lemon trees that have been there for over 35 years. We had some cocktails to start and then went straight to main courses, the Steak chimichurri plate was so tender and delicious, and the crusted sea bass with the lobster coconut sauce and coconut rice was to die for! We finished with the Coconut bread pudding which came out hot with a coconut syrup to put over. Soooo goood! Highly recommend! read more

Wow! Afternoon lunch amazing! My daughter and I had they're seared fresh salmon on a bed of arugula, Picasso nut, mixed salad with a lovely light, olive oil based dressing. The crispy salmon's skin was seared perfectly, presented face up with a warm juicy grilled lemon slice perched on top. The large piece of salmon was moist and perfectly seared. Both our dishes perfectly done. We had a great waitress. She seemed to be aware of the flow of the meal, every glass filled before it was empty. More lemon slices? Sure! She was just delightful and so was our experience. Salmon lunch $36.00 per plate. My grandson ordered the child's Pizza Margarita and devoured the light, crispy crust, hot melted cheese morsel baked in their stone oven. We will be back as always! read more

Typical upscale casual restaurant. Good menu selections. Service was very mediocre. Either our server was over-worked, or over-assigned to too many tables, or her skills need refreshing. Food was good enough to return for. read more
What an amazing restaurant! It has a very open and airy atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is in a quaint courtyard with a lemon tree and a plumeria tree. They also have a nice fireplace with tables nearby for warmth, as well as heating lamps throughout the courtyard. I definitely recommend making reservations, as this place was packed when we went at 6 p.m. on a Friday. We ordered drinks and some garlic fries to start. They have plenty of cocktails to choose from and a list of local brews to try. The garlic fries were done well and had a generous amount of garlic on top. We moved on to the Salmon Plate. This was an ample portion of salmon served on a bed of mashed potatoes and broccoli. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the flavor was spot on. This was our favorite dish. We also ordered a plate of fish tacos. Yum! The fish was fried nicely, and the house aioli added a fresh, bright taste to the meal. Finally, we ordered a Key Lime Pie. It had a great lime flavor--noticeable but not overpowering. The cream on top was excellent. Highly recommend Rumfish if you are in the area. read more
Our party of four were warmly greeted, our server was friendly and attentive. We split an appetizer, queso fundido and three entrees: wagyu burger, chicken sandwich, apricot/bacon flatbread. Our favorite were the queso fundido, a hearty portion of chorizo with bubbly cheese on top served with chips, the flatbread was a perfect combo of sweet and savory topped with arugula, and the burger, filling, flavorful and served with garlic fries which were crispy and sprinkled with garlic and cheese. A lively ambience with good food and drinks. Although we do not live nearby, we all agree to return to sample their menu. read more

A special day deserves a special place and Rumfish was our first thought for Mother's Day. We made a reservation, but they were definitely prepared with a Mother's Day menu and lots of extra seating. Our service staff was great and very attentive to our needs. Lots of delicious food and drinks to choose from while being surrounded by a little part of Ventura on Main Street. read more
We came for the happy hour and left happy lol. The pork belly tacos were excellent, the drinks were fresh and refreshing, I will say the conch fritters were just ok but maybe you will like them. We also enjoyed the salad and the coconut bread pudding. Also we received excellent service even with the waitress being very busy she still stayed attentive and checked on us which I really appreciated. There is plenty of seating at this location but most of it is outside. You can come here with friends and family or on a date. Not sure it is child friendly because I didn't see any children there but maybe. Overall this was a great experience and I recommend you give Rumfish y Vino a shot. read more

I've never ordered and tasted ceviche unless it was for the table, and I didn't want to feel left out. Tasting ceviche has always been a shrug moment for me, as in "this tastes okay," then I focus on the other foods I like and order. I didn't expect to come to this restaurant to try the ceviche, but I ordered it when the super-friendly and knowledgeable server added, "This is what we're known for," after we mentioned it was our first time eating there. Might as well add it since it was happy hour. I expected the apricot habanero bacon flatbread or the pork belly and fish taco to be the tastiest of everything ordered. The flavors of habanero bacon flatbread mixed to create delicious flavors in my mouth. The pork belly taco was my favorite of the two tacos, and the pork belly and its contents combined well to make a yummy taco. But the star of the show was the ceviche. I don't know what flavors of fortune the raw fish was marinated in, but every flavor combined to create a concoction of delectable freshness and spice in every bite. It was the perfect cold dish in warm weather, and I fought with my husband for the last of the ceviche. I placed the ceviche into my taco, ate it by itself, and ate it with the chips it came with. Does an elbow to the rib hurt? Yes, it does, according to my husband, as we fought over the remnants of the dish.* Also, the vino at this place was spot on. I ordered the house red, and they gave me one of the most delicious wines I have ever tasted, even though it was just the house red. This restaurant, Rumfish y Vino, definitely lives up to the fish and wine hype. The restaurant is clean, the service is friendly, and there's a daily happy hour for food and drink. The restaurant is located off Main Street in downtown Ventura. You have the option of sitting indoors or outdoors, depending on availability. Service was great here. From the host to our first waitress and then the new waiter that explained he was taking over. All the personnel here were super friendly, polite and gave us great service. We started with some drinks. My wife had the Watermelon Mojito and I had the Cucumber Gin Collins and my daughter had the Dragonfruit Caipiroska. The Watermelon Mojito was the best. We decided to try a couple of small plates on their Sunday Happy Hour, yes you read that right. They have a Sunday Happy Hour!!!! I ordered the mussels, my daughter got the Apricot flatbread, my wife ordered the Queso Fundido. I wanted to try the Ceviche but we just couldn't eat any more. I think my wife would have preferred less chorizo and more cheese in her Queso but everyone was very happy with their food. The place has indoor and outdoor seating but; of course, given the opportunity in our CA weather, eat outside like we did. Very reasonable prices and the food was great. read more

How's the parking?
There is a very large FREE all day parking lot behind the restaurant. You enter from Oak Street. The entrance is on Oak between Main and Poli. There is a stairway down to the restaurant entrance!

Our original is in Belize. We opened in 2008 there, so our menu is very much inspired by Belize cuisine.

How expensive are they?
It really depends on what you order. They have wonderful flatbreads that are $14.00/ $15.00. The main entree is a bit more $25/$30 but totally worth it. They also have wagyu burgers $17.00. Check out the menu on their web site runfishyvinoventura.com
Is brunch reservations available Saturday morning?
Saturday we open at 11:30 for Lunch (Brunch is only served Sunday) but yes we take reservations! Let us know what time and how many! You can also use Open Table for reservations!
Is this restaurant reservations only?
Reservations are recommended, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, but we always accommodate walk ins as best as possible!
Is there any mustard in the conch fritters or the sauce that goes with them? Yes, it's an allergy. I'll have to come in and try them soon!

Yes, definitely on the weekend (F-Su). Not sure about the weekdays
