[[HIGHLIGHT]]Looking for fish and chips? This is your spot with a view of the pacific.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The freshest fried fish you can find. Paired with fries, sweet potatoe fries or homemade slaw with pineapple bites. I came here with my parents who are avid fish lovers. They love the fish here. There are 2 types of fry including jalaleno or regular. The fish is about $30 and it includes choice of fried fish and a side. They went with halabit. Myself on the other hand, went with the $20.00 burger with a nice angus patty topped with cheddar cheese, fresh veggies on a toasty buttered fluffy bun. Delicious. They also have a chicken sandwich. Both come with a huge pile of fries. Be sure to validate your parking.

The food, the happy hour prices, the service Five stars I usually skip places on piers, figured they'd be overpriced. This happy hour is insanely good

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What an amazing experience! The staff is so friendly and the place is nice and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outdoor seating is great and with lots of seating available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The upstairs is a totally different restaurant so there's no access which was kindly mentioned to us by that staff when we accidentally dine up there. The food was incredible! The halibut and ahi tuna was fresh and delicious. The fish and chips is a must and their clam chowder soup was perfection. Highly recommend! We can't wait to go back

Favorite Food: small Delicious menu, a small bar, and MadeWest Brewery is upstairs. Service: The people are friendly. You pick up your order at the counter. Zay's The Best bartender. Ambience: [[HIGHLIGHT]]You're at the beach, on the pier. Can be loud (ish) or chilly, but n nothing tops the views and vibe. They play good music too. Very family friendly. Decent scampi and chowder, nothing to write home about. They seem to have a stressful and understaffed working environment, which is affecting customers. They had one woman running the front alone and there were audible arguments between her and the kitchen staff. Due to this, we stood in line waiting to order for 45 minutes. Food came out at a reasonable pace. I hope they can help their staff more in the future. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great patio seating on the boardwalk though![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food here is really delicious. I would recommend the clam chowder bread bowl. There are other options as good as the soup as well. The service is friendly though I think they need an extra pair of hands when it comes to rush hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is relaxing, not too noisy as you have great views of the pier and beach.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a second level to dine at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you're for one of the most underrated spots to grab fresh seafood & a stiff cocktail with ocean views in Ventura County then look no further than Eric Ericsson's Fish Co. at the Ventura Pier. Open since 1981, this local staple has been around a long time (and in this economy) impressive! I've always walked right past this spot but somehow ended up next door getting tacos or simply walking down the pier for the views, I truly didn't realize how fabulous this lowkey restaurant is. When you walk inside you order at a counter, so it's semi casual in that way but otherwise, everything about this place feels "wow" because your getting 5-star restaurant views of the ocean while paying $$ (reasonable). I picked a cute little short bar style seat which essentially was "premium seating" overlooking the beach and the ocean and honestly, it doesn't get much better than this. The staff from start to finish were super nice and welcoming. They had a solid kitchen team so the food was all made fresh to order but came out quick, making this a solid spot for a quick lunch break. The gentlemen taking my order was friendly and helpful when I had questions and needed recommendations. If you're looking for alcohol, they have a separate counter/bar where you pay & they take your drink order. The bartender there was lovely as well. Nice people, 5/5 service. The food was honestly fantastic and rivals any other seafood spot in the area. I'd also give the food, Portions and presentation a 5/5 as well. Here's what I ordered: Mai Tai - Boozy, fruity, and basically a vacation in a glass. I'd recommend this cocktail if you want something strong but fruity. Popcorn Shrimp - Crispy, flavorful little bites with that southern-style batter that I love. I subbed out the cocktail sauce to pair it with their tartar sauce & that choice was chef's kiss. (Tatar sauce over cocktail all day everyday). Ahi Tuna Taco (staff recommendation) - Light, fresh, and LOADED. Super fresh seared ahi, crunchy veggies, and an addictive wasabi sauce. Oysters - Freshly shucked and you can't leave without ordering a dozen...or two. Their rotation of what type of oysters they have does change regularly I think I read but when I came in the smaller west coast oysters were great. Meals like this remind me why living here feels like paradise. There's a reason these long time local favorites stand the test of time and it's important that we continue to support them so they'll be around for another 40 years! Cheers to Eric Ericssons, definitely a highlight meal for me this year.

Two full customers taking a stroll on the pier in Ventura.

Very happily surprised. Parking was easy and validated. Go through the parking garage until it spits you out the other end and then you park closer to the restaurant. Very easy. The food was surprisingly delicious. We had the Ahi Tuna Sandwich which was really good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Can't beat the views and you can take a walk on the pier afterwards.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Top it off with a visit to the Ventura Botanical Gardens and you've had a perfect day in Ventura. Loved every moment. If you have more time stroll down the main street where they've closed it off to cars and you can stroll. Ventura is awesome! And much cooler than L.A. - it was 75 degrees there and 103 in the valley today.

~ SEA VIEWS, BIG PORTIONS ~ Eric Ericssons Fish Co is one of those classic Ventura spots with a prime location and some solid seafood, but it's not totally flawless. This was our third visit in a long time, and had to remember the counter-service setup. Heads up on parking, it's a bit confusing if you don't know the drill, but they do validate, which helps. You order at the counter using chalkboard menus that are a little hard to read, then grab a table and enjoy the ocean views. The space itself is nice inside with beachy decor and great views of the pier and water... honestly one of the best parts of the experience. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. The clam chowder was delicious: filling, flavorful, and comforting. The calamari was also a win, especially paired with pasta, generous portions and good flavor for the price. On the flip side, the seafood mac and cheese was a miss. Very oily, barely cheesy, and the seafood was hard to find. When we brought it up, the staff was polite and offered a replacement, which we appreciated, though the swap was also a little underwhelming. We also tried the fish tacos, which were huge but a little awkward to eat and a seafood quesadilla that looked good but didn't really deliver on flavor. Service was friendly but pretty hands-off once you have your food, no real check-ins since everything runs through the counter. Prices felt fair for mains, though drinks and desserts were on the pricier side for a mostly self-service experience. Overall, Eric Ericssons is worth checking out for the location, views, and a few tasty dishes like the chowder and calamari. Stick to the simpler seafood options, enjoy the ocean scenery, and you'll probably have a better time.

    The Pink Flamingo

My husband and I stopped by Beach House Tacos for a quick lunch, but unfortunately, they had run out of my favorite margarita. Instead, they suggested we visit their bar at Eric Ericsson's to grab a drink. We brought our food from Beach House Tacos with us and ordered a drink to accompany our meal. I opted for a cocktail called The Pink Flamingo, which was a delightful combination of tequila, coconut cream, lavender simple syrup, blood orange, and lime. It was not only delicious but also so pretty with its pink color. The restaurant was also beautiful, and had a great view of the sea. Loved this place and will definitely be going back.

    Happy hour tacos - INCREDIBLE

DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE. They were serving some incredible seafood here. Stopped by for an early dinner with my wife and WE LOVED IT. The happy hour menu is honestly a really good deal so we lucked out getting here in time for that. You will find this resteraunt on the pier. Great ocean views from this resteraunt with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Great place to come to on a warm sunny day. We ordered an order of the happy hour tacos, a cup of clam chowder and a half dozen of oysters. IT WAS ALL INCREDIBLE. The cup of clam chowder is what suprised me the most, I believe this one may be the best one in town. The tacos were unbelievable for the portion you were paying for, honestly such a great deal and so good! The oysters were fresh and flavorful, for $22 bucks I can't complain at all. Overall, we can't wait to come back again. This place also had great service and we appreciated the great hospitality.

Better than ever!! Views & delicious food have kept this spot on our regular rotation. Order upfront and pick your own table inside or outside. There's a separate bar area to order adult bevies- my new regular order is a Hugo- a spritz that's so refreshing on warm summer days. This spot has been a longtime local favorite because of the fresh, quality ingredients and it's one of two restaurants on the beach. The staff is friendly and accommodating- I was thrilled to be able to order a blackened chicken taco and a Hugo spritz cocktail that are both off menu items!! The taco is so fresh with shredded cabbage, homemade salsa and a flavor bomb drizzle. Hubby had his favorite clam chowder and a beautiful piece of halibut fish and chips. Tip- have them validate your parking ticket for a free two hour beachside ding experience! Highly recommend!!

The happy hour menu has a great selection of both food and drinks at really reasonable prices. We ordered the chicken tacos, the spinach and artichoke dip, and a drink, and everything was delicious. The tacos were flavorful, the dip was creamy and perfect for sharing, and the drink hit the spot. Service is pretty straightforward you place your order at the counter, and someone brings everything to your table. There's not a lot of interaction with the staff, but everything was smooth and efficient. One of my favorite parts was the atmosphere. The happy hour crowd was a nice mix of people, and the place had a fun, lively energy without feeling overwhelming. Since it was a warm day, my friend and I chose to sit inside. As it cooled down, it wasn't as smooth to spread on your chip but still good. And their beef tallow fries are always a must and delish! Service was so friendly! We were ready to walk out, but our drinks finally arrived. I suggested we ask for the check sooner than later, considering how long it took to get our drinks. (Others who arrived after us did not seem to have to wait as long as we did.) Moments later, the vibe completely turned around when the bartender blew a conch shell to award a patron a Ventiki fez, accomplished after drinking all 60 cocktails on their in-house passport. That energy really helped recapture any aloha we felt upon arriving and we ended up staying for hours and chatting with staff. The place redeemed itself. We promised to return with some friends shortly who were driving through Ventura. We stepped out to grab coffee while waiting for our friends to arrive. We were excited to show them this place. When our friends got there around 4pm, they received an incredibly cold greeting at the entrance. They sent us a text and we told them we were a block away having just picked up a coffee and heading their way. When we all arrived together, a bouncer was at the front stand, boorish and inhospitable... his immediate attitude was downright insulting. (He wasn't around when we were there earlier.) He had previously refused to seat our friends at a table for four--even though we were just a block away--demanded we throw away our coffees, and asked us for ID. (My husband and I are in our late 50s/early 60s, and friends late 40s.) We literally had just been there for a couple hours and spent a good amount of money. Sure, I understand places have policies, but this attitude was COMPLETELY different than when we were there earlier. The bouncer was a self-important jerk about the whole thing. We went from giving them a second chance after they rekindled the aloha spirit to being completely turned off by the bouncer's egomaniacal attitude. Again, 4pm Sunday, no line or anything. Not some nightclub. Utterly unnecessary brute at the front. Rude and completely uninviting customer service. We ended up going down the street to a local brewpub that welcomed us, no attitude, no carding, and they didn't bat an eye at our coffee cups. AND when we parted ways with our friends, they told us they swung by Ventiki to talk to the manager. The manager told them she supports her bouncer and was unapologetic. If there was a society for tiki lounges with a membership card, this place should have their card revoked. They are not worthy. Tearing up the fez passport I started and will never set foot in there again.

On a Thursday night it was pretty dead but we didn't mind, WE ARE the party! The restaurant/ bar is surprisingly spacious which wasn't outright apparent from the outside. Once you walk in there is a nice long bar on the right hand side. A couple of booths and plenty of tables. It was actually a lovely evening (plus our group gets loud & rowdy) so we decided to sit outside on the high top patio table. It was perfect as it could fit the seven of us no problem. Initially i worried how service would be as we were alone on the patio but immediately my concerns went away as we had a fabulous bartender named Jordan helping us out. Despite making the drinks inside and engaging with customers at the bar, he was very attentive to our outside patio group. The drinks were brought out at an impressive pace and we felt valued as customers. Jordan gave great suggestions for shooters for us to try and also was overly accommodating, by allowing us to all pay separate/individual checks per our request. I grow to appreciate that more nowadays because some businesses do give patrons a hard time about splitting tabs. I was grateful despite being a big group he was willing to accommodate us. We only came for drinks, so I can't speak for the food but this spot is a solid bar. They have some interesting cocktails and I liked that they had a couple of shooter/shot options. Good selection of beer and even some wines. I really enjoyed both my Mexican candy shot and the purple heater shot that Jordan recommended for me and a friend. Drinks were cold and they kept flowing. Easy to give this spot 5 stars as the service was good, atmosphere was welcoming, and reasonable prices for being on Main Street. I'd definitely come back and would be happy to try some appetizers next time to see how the food is. My only baby upgrade is that the patio cushions on the chairs need a good wash or to be replaced. Otherwise everything else was clean from the tables, to the bar area, to the restrooms etc. The patio just needs a tiny bit of TLC which a couple of us noted. We had a great experience here though and I'm glad we stumbled upon this spot.

Good drinks and good food. Plenty of seating outside. It was a good fit for our group. Was quite a surprise when last night we arrived to find a private event happening. I realize that the Tavern hosts private events, I saw that on the website. Neither Katie nor I discussed the possibility of a conflict when I spoke with her, so part of this is on me, but as the event coordinator, most of it was on her. Doesn't she have a main calendar for events? Because if she does, we weren't on it. The security fetched Katie, and she matter-of-factly stated that they were hosting a private event, so the venue was not available. She never apologized, seemed to not care that we had 30-40 people showing up at a place that was now unavailable to us. She stated, again matter-of-factly with no apology, that it was wedding season and events were her priority. So, the Tavern? Probably a great place for events, and a fun bar with good food, but their event coordinator definitely needs better communication and better organization. We will no longer be meeting there, needless to say.

The cocktail menu features ingredients from Ventura Spirits, Mario's Hard Espresso, local breweries, and other Central Coast makers, giving the drinks a real sense of place. I've especially enjoyed their cocktail program because it feels creative without being pretentious. I also love the concept. It's more than just a bar--you can enjoy a drink while browsing a thoughtfully curated collection of local goods, making it a fun place to bring friends or visitors from out of town. I haven't tried the food yet, so I can't speak to the bar menu, but based on the drinks, atmosphere, and commitment to highlighting local products, The Livery is a unique addition to downtown Ventura and a spot I find myself returning to.

They range from clothing, hats, housewares, candles, jewelry, and more! The atmosphere is beautiful, spacious yet cozy and inviting. I especially love that they have a separate room exclusively for wine tasting. I'm definitely interested in checking it out next time. We didn't order food because we had already eaten, but the Rosarita margarita was a nice refreshing cocktail. I also purchased a non-toxic pumpkin spice candle. It smelled heavenly burning on display and I couldn't pass it up. It's a subtle smell of pumpkin spice and fall. I love it! I can't wait to come back and purchase some of the beautiful glassware. I'll take more pictures of the shopping area next time.
