Maine Lobster Roll
Ana T.

Everything was so delicious. We ordered 8 raw oysters, fish and chips, tuna ceviche, small clam chowder, and lobster roll and we FINISHED it all (only 2 of us) we didn't even have to bring any to go. The fish was so crispy and no stinky smell. The lobster was also fresh on a buttery bun! The best part is the oysters and the ceviche. They're very delicious and the sauce have that salty and acidic kick to it. So yummy!

Bacon cheddar biscuits - a MUST GET

We found ourselves in the area earlier than planned for an appointment, so we stopped in for an early lunch. Parking was easy across the street & thru the alley, in the lot with many 4-hr parking spots. Sarah was super warm from the moment we sat down to when we left. Friendly, spot on service, & such lovely energy! She gave us some recommendations - which were really helpful bc there are so many great-sounding things on the menu. We loved everything we tried: Bacon cheddar biscuits - the crunchy bottom crust, the bits of bacon throughout the tender middles, & the sticky glazed/chive topped tops were so so good. The whipped goat cheese butter was almost unnecessary. A must get! We saw others with baskets of fresh sourdough bread - we didn't get any, but we will next time. Sally's sand dabs - a generous amount of lightly floured, delicate wild caught fish with a delicious lemon butter caper sauce. My pineapple coleslaw & parm potato cake were excellent sides. This was super good. Grilled rockfish tacos - 2 large tacos, with our chosen side of miso brussel sprouts. Delicious, with big pieces of super fresh rockfish. Roasted butternut squash - this side of mapley glazed, heavily garlicky squash was delicious. There were a few lesser roasted pieces of squash mixed in but the ones that were more soft & roasty made it all delicious. The covered outside patio was slightly breezy & the option to have the heaters on or off was nice. Walking thru the inside, I saw their beautiful full-service bar & the inside booths. Really, all were nice places to sit in any of the spots. Restaurant manager Kevin brought out a couple of our dishes & said hello, asking how our meals were. Nice! Great food, menu choices for carnivores, pescatarians, veggies, kids, really everyone. Add to that the easy parking & warm service & that makes this one of my fave places in the area. I'd highly recommend coming here for drinks, snacks, lunch, dinner, anytime!

Ambience always relaxing and casual. Bartenders are always helpful and friendly. I enjoyed their lunch miso glazed salmon bowl filled with broccoli, spinach and a cilantro corn salad. Served over a bed of white rice. So delicious and cooked to perfection. Will always recommend Lure Fish House to all our friends and family members visiting Ventura California.

My local friend and I were wandering around downtown after walking on the beach and we stopped in Lure Fish House and sat at the big bar that dominates the main dining area. Lure is a large comfortable spot with different areas with booths and tables. We were there for Happy Hour so we each got a taco and we split a trio of three different kinds of oysters. I got the CHIPOTLE SHRIMP TACO organic corn tortilla, spicy slaw, avocado salsa, salsa roja. She got the CRISPY BAJA COD TACO organic corn tortilla, spicy slaw, salsa roja, avocado salsa, pickled onions and she started with a strong Bloody Mary. While we only sat at the bar for happy hour, the friendly bartender/waitstaff and fun atmosphere made this light lunch hit the spot.

Lure is my favorite fish place in Ventura! The dishes are always fresh and the service is friendly and efficient at the same time! If you can get there for happy hour, it's a great way to sample many things while saving some money, but anytime is a good time to go when you want great seafood. This trip, I tried a few new items like the clam chowder and Louie salad (both excellent), as well as the tried and true oysters, fish tacos, sole, crab cakes, calamari, and of course their fabulous Bloody Mary. Every plate was not only pleasing to the eyes, but the freshness of the ingredients and the creativity of the chef made every bite a pleasure. My only wish for them is to open a location in Los Angeles so that I can visit more frequently!

Yesss! Love this place! And shout out to our hostess Natalie who is an absolute doll! So joyful and helpful with seating us! Our dinner was excellent and shout out to our server Rolo who was so nice and very attentive! My husband loved his Bloody Mary and my wine was wonderful! We ordered the Miso Rockfish skewers appetizer which was awesome! And our dinner was delicious too! My husband had the halibut and chose double parmigian potato cakes all very tasty, the fish was cooked perfectly! We were a little disappointed that for $42 the portion of fish was so small? I don't think it was even 5 ounces. Last time he had the halibut here it was a significantly larger portion ‍ I has the Miso Salmon Bowl which also was delicious but unfortunately my fish was overcooked. I know our server placed the order for it to be cooked medium because he asked how I'd like it cooked and he praised my choice-unfortunately it came out well done. Totally out of his control...(and I've ordered this a couple other times we've dined here - it's my favorite! When I mentioned it to him he offered to have them re-make it and I told him it was still tasty and since I was so hungry I didn't want to wait. He even offered a complimentary dessert which was so nice but I'm off sugar so I said no thank you. He ended up comping my salmon! I absolutely did not expect that and told him how very thoughtful and generous that was and I never would have asked for that. We always love the food here but it seems too often the cooks overcook our food. They've always made it right and that's why we always come back! The service is always excellent, we love the ambiance and the location too! Still recommend Lure! We'll be back!!

My first impression of Lure Fish House really set the tone for our visit. Perfect combination of luxury vibes and beachy blue/grey tones and decor. Service was quick and friendly. They had happy hour running when we visited, which meant bar seating only I ended up ordering from the regular menu because I I'm a sucker for a crispy chicken sandwich. What set this crispy chicken sandwich apart from others I've had in the past was their hot honey. That crunchy, juicy chicken with a golden crust, then that sweet heat that creeps in at the end. It's savory, sweet, and slightly spicy in the best way. Every bite was addicting. It's definitely a bit messy to eat, but that's a small price to pay for how good it tastes. Honestly, best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Next time in passing through, I will be making a stop at Lure Fish House.

I love Lure Fish House because of their wonderful staff and dog-friendly patio. Alongside their exceptional food, their service is always wonderful. Whenever we have the opportunity to visit Ventura County, this place is a must to dine in. So happy we were able to travel with our pup and he was able to join us for dinner as well. Market sides - Good: Cilantro corn salad Sweet potato home fries New England Clam Chowder Cup Parmesan Potato Cup Not great: Cilantro lime rice Veracruz Chowder Cup Broccoli (off the menu) Came back yesterday for a second round of Lobster Roll and New England Clam Chowder Cup and it was heavenly. Today I tried the King Salmon and it was a tough one for me to come to a conclusion. I think this is the softest, melt in your mouth salmon I have ever had without it being undercooked. The skin was crispy and texture wise, everything was a delight. The only downside was that there was barely any taste to the salmon! I don't think I would get it again mainly due to this. They also had some sweet and sour cream type sauce on the side and that did not compliment the salmon at all.

Baja Kanpachi with sweet potato fries & Cilantro Corn Salad

I feel like lure fish house is always a hit. My usual location is the Santa Barbara one but I was closer to the Ventura location so I decided to give it a try to see if the flavors were consistent between the locations. Spoiler alert: the flavors were consistent! I ordered the Baja Kanpachi which came with two sides. I chose the sweet potato fries and the cilantro corn salad. The Kanpachi tasted fresh, buttery and was well seasoned. The sweet potato fries were fresh and sweet and didn't taste like it was from a bag of frozen fries. The cilantro corn salad also tasted very fresh and paired nicely with the Kanpachi. Service was decent. This location has less seating than the one in Santa Barbara and is much smaller. They have a lot of outdoor seating though. There is free parking located in the parking structure right behind lure fish house. Would recommend!

Lure Fish House restaurants are fabulous establishments! I've been to the one in Santa Barbara(really beautiful) and now this location. They have wonderful ambiance and atmosphere with good food. They have a great happy hour and some of the best customer service in the restaurant business!! Everyone was delightful, wonderful and Caleb M. was exceptional. His attention to detail and service was top notch. He didn't miss anything and they are very lucky to have him at this location. The clam chowder was really good and served smoking hot!! 3 bucks a cup during happy hour cannot be beat!!! The fresh, hot sourdough bread is pretty dangerous!! That's some very good complimentary bread! Great combination with the chowder. The calamari was just okay, nothing to write home about on Yelp. The fish and chips is pretty solid. Nice light batter and tasty fish. The shrimp are good as well. You get 3 pieces of fish or if you get the fish and shrimp combo, you lose one piece of fish and get 3 shrimp in return. $5 up charge for this combo switch. Good housemade tartar sauce as well. I don't usually like shoestring fries in particular, but Lure's FH are good. They leave a little skin on and season them up well. Just another wonderful dining experience at Lure Fish House.

Lure Fish House is one of my go-to happy hour spots. Happy hour runs Monday-Friday from 3:00-6:00 pm and Sunday from 11:30 am-5:00 pm, which is honestly elite timing. First of all, the complimentary bread deserves its own shoutout. Warm, comforting, and dangerous in the best way. I'm obsessed with their oyster bar, especially the Grassy Bar oysters and the charbroiled oysters. I always order the house-made chowder 50/50, it's half Classic New England and half Veracruz fish chowder. It's rich, flavorful, and truly the best of both worlds. I'm a big fan of their shared plates, which is where Lure really shines. Favorites include the bacon cheddar biscuits with whipped honey goat cheese, crab cakes, and a classic Caesar salad that never disappoints. Everything is well-executed and perfect for sharing. Their specialty cocktails are also worth ordering and pair well with the food, especially during happy hour. The vibe is lively but not overwhelming, making it perfect for after-work drinks or a casual dinner with friends. I personally love sitting at the bar or oyster bar, it's the best way to experience the space. Service has always been friendly and efficient, Parking is easy too. Free parking is available in the structure behind the restaurant, which is a huge plus in downtown Ventura. I honestly never make it to dessert because I'm always completely full, and that says a lot. Consistent, welcoming, and a solid go-to for seafood and happy hour in Ventura.

10 out of freaking 10!!!! An incredible find while we're here on vacation. I could not believe the options on the happy hour! Ashley was a phenomenal server bringing the kindness and energy from the start. From the shrimp cocktail to the oysters to the clam chowder to the key lime pie. Everything is a winner. This will be added to our must have list when we're back in town.

In Ventura's industrial area, the Cave is a nice, cozy restaurant that is hidden in the Ventura Wine Company shop. We were greeted by live music which made a lively atmosphere. They have the self vending wine machine with a decent variety of wines for all. I'm going to be honest - I did question the pour size. We ended up buying a bottle of wine at dinner instead and I'm pretty sure that was the economical choice plus it gave me peace of mind. I will say - the plating of the food is strange. Giant plates for small portions never really sits well with me. The kitchen's "thinly sliced" waygu steak was also off putting visually. The Jumbo Scallops w/Leek & Truffle Risotto ($46) is a must order. Scallops perfectly pan seared and that risotto I would eat by itself. The Lemon Chardonnay sauce was incredible. The Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs ($39) was okay. The meat fell apart as it should. The red wine sauce was okay but lacked depth. The creamy mashed potatoes were very good and seasoned perfectly. Wasn't mad that I tried it but would not order again. Wagyu Top Sirloin 12 oz. ($48) was very good despite the poor slicing. The creamy mushroom sauce was perfect to add some flavor but not overpower the protein. The Pepperoni Pizza ($18) was decent for my son. My daughter planned to order the Seafood Pasta until she saw all of her favorite things combined: Mac and cheese, bacon and pizza - the Mac and Cheese Pizza ($21) was honestly top notch. It wasn't overly heavy, the depth of flavor was great and it's extremely tasty. The spicy aioli was top notch. Overall, a good experience at the Cave. I recommend giving it a try.

On a Thursday night it was pretty dead but we didn't mind, WE ARE the party! The restaurant/ bar is surprisingly spacious which wasn't outright apparent from the outside. Once you walk in there is a nice long bar on the right hand side. A couple of booths and plenty of tables. It was actually a lovely evening (plus our group gets loud & rowdy) so we decided to sit outside on the high top patio table. It was perfect as it could fit the seven of us no problem. Initially i worried how service would be as we were alone on the patio but immediately my concerns went away as we had a fabulous bartender named Jordan helping us out. Despite making the drinks inside and engaging with customers at the bar, he was very attentive to our outside patio group. The drinks were brought out at an impressive pace and we felt valued as customers. Jordan gave great suggestions for shooters for us to try and also was overly accommodating, by allowing us to all pay separate/individual checks per our request. I grow to appreciate that more nowadays because some businesses do give patrons a hard time about splitting tabs. I was grateful despite being a big group he was willing to accommodate us. We only came for drinks, so I can't speak for the food but this spot is a solid bar. They have some interesting cocktails and I liked that they had a couple of shooter/shot options. Good selection of beer and even some wines. I really enjoyed both my Mexican candy shot and the purple heater shot that Jordan recommended for me and a friend. Drinks were cold and they kept flowing. Easy to give this spot 5 stars as the service was good, atmosphere was welcoming, and reasonable prices for being on Main Street. I'd definitely come back and would be happy to try some appetizers next time to see how the food is. My only baby upgrade is that the patio cushions on the chairs need a good wash or to be replaced. Otherwise everything else was clean from the tables, to the bar area, to the restrooms etc. The patio just needs a tiny bit of TLC which a couple of us noted. We had a great experience here though and I'm glad we stumbled upon this spot.

Two sisters (Elissa & Holly) married two brothers (Matt & Mike) and started this weekend project which has turned into quite a fun weekend escape. Elissa and her father, Walt, are usually manning the tasting room and are the most gracious hosts. It's a quaint, boutique winery and tasting room, which recently joined forces with the folks from Trois le Fou Winery. They each have their own tasting rooms, but they're joined and share a large production/barrel room area, which is also available for private events in addition to scheduled events and live music/comedy. They don't offer food, but you are welcome to bring in your own snacks/charcuterie. Parking is plentiful, as the business park is mostly closed on the weekends. WINES: Their wines change regularly, as they purchase their fruit from Paso Robles, Lodi, and San Antonio Valley, among other places. I think that their Sauvignon Blanc is a standard and we really enjoy it, but they also do a nice Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Malbec, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Their "Speakeasy Wine Club" offers three levels of membership: "Blind Grape (6/yr)", "Bootlegger (12/yr)", and "Last Call (18/yr)", depending on the number of bottles you want per shipment/pick-up. Bottles currently run in the $38 - $50 range (before club member discounts). We love visiting the Lester Cellars family and highly recommend you stop in and check out their latest vintages. The service and wine are wonderful, and I'm betting you'll enjoy yourself as much as we do.
