Out of all the places we could go for Thanksgiving after Grandma passed, this place truly felt like the proper getaway with their view, lights, buffet option for our family of picky eaters, and excellent service. Even after looking at other venues, this venue definitely had the best selection of food and the most quality in addition to their stellar location and ample parking. Our family had a wonderful time. Ooof as much as I wanted to give this place a great review.... I'm extremely disappointed with my Mother's Day experience , especially considering it was $70 per person. For that price, basic cleanliness and customer service should absolutely be expected. The women's restroom was completely out of toilet paper, and the floor was covered in soiled toilet paper. It was honestly disgusting and unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one charging premium holiday prices. What made the experience even worse was bringing it to the manager's attention only to be met with rudeness and zero effort to make the situation right. No apology, no concern, and no attempt to improve the experience. It completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day celebration. Very disappointing overall. read more

Been coming here for 2 years from LA. Not sure what is happening to this place but it is slowly going downhill, from service to food quality, it's mixed everytime we come back recently. Example, 2 weeks ago as of (5/9), service was good food was good. Come back today (5/9) service was slow, food was okay and drinks were terrible. Avoid getting the sodas and lemonades here, they taste like soap water, flat and just disgusting, even after asking for a new one hoping it'd be different it wasn't. Today's visit (5/9), service seemed very slow. I judged this with a large party that was seated significantly after us I want to say 10 minutes after we ordered and they somehow got their foods first! I want to say we waited at least 45 minutes until we got our food. The seared ahi tostada usually is good, but this time it was overseared and dry. Definitely hope the owners and managers see this because I loved coming here but I feel like there's better options out there now with how things are going here. read more

We enjoyed a lovely sunset over the harbor. The restaurant is gorgeous with nice music and the view is stunning. The Hostess was also the server, and maybe the bartender. The service was congenial but slow, especially at the beginning. When we sat down a piece of used gum fell off the menu, a bad start. There are bread plates are on the table but, bread is a menu item. It was delicious flaky garlic triangles with creamy butter and a raspberry sauce on the side. The ceasar salad was delicious. We shared one, it was a generous portion and arrived in two bowls. Super fresh Romain. I had the filet mignion, I ordered it medium rare and specified the rare side of medium rare. It was medium well. I hate sending food back but at the prices, I would like it perfect. They replaced the entire plate. The mashed potatoes were tasty and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. The mushroom sauce was overly salty: My companion had Sand Dabs, too much sauce and served over the mashed potatoes. It is a delicate fish and everything blended together. The chef came out and apologized for the steak. And we had to wait for a check either way empty water and wine glasses. Had they been more attentive I would have had another glass of wine. So gum +steak+everything over sauced = not so good. The is nice place to enjoy a cocktail and the gorgeous view. And everyone was nice, really nice. read more

Mother's Day was not the best they had a buffet set up. Self serve your self. The choices were mot appealing to me. Breakfast was cold and not appealing to me. The lunch/dinner was not any better the meat was tuff and not edible to me. The staff was very attentive as usual. There was not the usual happy patrons as usual. Had a great time with a party of 13 for a birthday celebration. The chef was accommodating to a vegan diet, they were able to make a vegan mushroom risotto and vegetable medley. The mushroom risotto was a tad salty but overall great paired with the vegetable medley. Others in the party seemed to enjoyed their meals as well. The view is beautiful at sunset, but the glare can be harsh depending on where you're sitting. The staff was kind enough to lower the shades to try and help. The service was great! Our server Nick, was amazing and attentive. He also helped us to come up with a birthday surprise, the staff came out and sang Happy Birthday with a dessert and candle. read more

My father and I always love coming here when we make the treck over from Thousand Oaks. He has been coming here for years, and I have just recently joined him. Solid spot with good food and an amazing view of the harbor. The staff is friendly and does a good job taking care of you. The food is always delicious, and recently got the Cioppino which was super good. We always have a few glasses of Chardonnay with our meal, and enjoy the harbor scenery. I work right next to Water's Edge and recently brought my daughter to the office. She wanted chicken strips and fries, so we decided to try Water's Edge for the sake of convenience. I ordered a kids' chicken strip meal and a drink over the phone, but they didn't mention the total until pickup, which ended up being $19. I don't mind paying a bit more for convenience or quality, but unfortunately, the food didn't deliver. The Good: The fries were the highlight. Crispy, well seasoned, and overall really tasty (a little on the salty side, but still good). The Bad: The chicken strips were nearly inedible. All three pieces had undercooked batter that was wet and mushy, making the entire chicken strip unpleasant to eat. It was really disappointing, especially considering the price. For $19, I expected better quality. I might stop by again just for the fries, but definitely not for the chicken strips. read more

A CRAPPY EXPERIENCE The Mother's Day Brunch was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. The food quality was subpar and sparse. The presentation was not appetizing and the promised menu items not readily available. The lines were long to get into the restaurant and the flow for the buffet line not well thought out. The ambience was lacking and felt like a food service line at an aging Vegas casino. It seems that the idea of serving a brunch was money-driven and not mother-focused. I felt like I really let my wife down after talking up the menu items. Other Dads and Sons looked as miserable as I felt as I'm certain we all collectively realized we made a colossal mistake with this place. $350 that didn't include any alcoholic beverages could have been spent on a really nice gift for my wife. Upon leaving and walking through the crappy parking lot (literally - bird poop all over my car - had to spend another $25 to get the car cleaned) on top of paying a harbor parking charge. 17 checkins later, and I think as many menu changes, they finally made it to 5 stars for me. Always the perfect sunset viewing spot (one of the few restaurants in Ventura to have a sunset view), friendly service, a deck with heaters, plus good food choices, we have had happy hour with a group from 4 to 6 on our last two visits. The group arrived at different times, which the staff handled well. We ordered various appetizers in waves, and the food arrived hot and tasty. The best part was that our perfect cosmopolitans arrived quickly. The menu ranges from appetizers on happy hour to three pages of dinner options so I can find something new to try. I enjoyed my fish tacos, and everyone enjoyed their orders as well, including the mussels, salad, and the lumpia. We are looking forward to our next visit. read more

My wife and I had the worst dining experience here tonight. I'll preface this with our waiter was great, this has nothing to do with him and I wish I got his name to shine some sort of light. To start the actual review, my wife ordered the filet mignon with no mushroom sauce, and I ordered the slow braised short rib. Her filet came out with sauce the first time around after waiting 30+ minutes, so we had to get that fixed which took another 15 or so minutes. Then both our meals came out and it was incredibly disappointing. The short rib was fine, nothing special and could use some seasoning. The steak on the other hand came out nearly blue (she ordered medium rare) and she could only eat the edges. Even then the steak was nearly unseasoned and was borderline sent back but we sucked it up and she ate a few bites. As we were walking out, we were talking about our poor experience here and another guest who said he comes here a lot chimed in and said he and his wife had an equally poor experience. It's a beautiful place, but please for the love of food fire the chef that was on duty this last Saturday July 26th. Terrible food and avoid at all cost. read more

The wife and I stopped by for lunch today with another couple. it was the first time for both of us. The verdict? Everyone's coming back! We had a really enjoyable time. The restaurant is spacious and bright and sits right on the water. Every table can be a view table, but we were seated by the glass and looked out at docked fishing ships and sailboats. It was a very relaxing place to eat. We were there for lunch, but I understand that you'll pick up sunsets in the evening. Service was prompt. Water was delivered right away and our server took a drink order from the bar. They have a decent selection of wines and beers, both bottled and on draft, as well as a full bar. We also ordered the shrimp lumpia to split, which came in eight pieces with a dipping sauce. They were piping hot and had good flavor. I also had a cup of the clam chowder, which was excellent. For entrees, my wife ordered the coconut shrimp and chips, which she really enjoyed. The whole table dipped into her fries, and all agreed that they were perfectly cooked. My SIL ordered the trio of tacos. They looked really good, and she said they were. I had the "breakfast salmon", which was a nicely cooked piece of salmon topped with a fried egg. It was very good. No issues, they take reservations, service was on point and the food was good. Add to that a great, relaxing harborside view and we will be back on a regular basis. read more

Was in the area, and saw that they had cioppino... Unfortunately for us, we came too early (around 11), and got their brunch menu. "Dinner menu starts at 3," I'm told. Great food! However, we reserved online. Never said it was a pre-fixe menu for $99 per person. Gave us a hard time about wanting to move from a back table to a front table so we can see the Christmas Regatta. The host gave us a hard time saying that we did not put a credit card into our reservation. No where on the site did it say that we had to leave any information except for our desired time. My husband and I had been wanting to try this restaurant and their happy hour since we live within walking distance from it. We finally did on a Friday evening and were not disappointed. The ambience is the best! There were large glass windows all around where you can see the harbor no matter where you sat, and a nice outdoor patio. Soft jazz was playing, tables were adorned with white tablecloths and cloth napkins. The host was such a nice gentleman and very gracious and helpful. He was attentive as needed. The happy hour drinks were $7 and $9 dollars and were well made. I noticed that they made their old fashion with a single block of ice the way it is supposed to be made (my son is a bartender). I had fish tacos which were pretty good. My husband had a bowl of clam chowder and enjoyed it. He also had some type of shrimp egg rolls that were tasty, but much smaller than we pictured they would be. Most food items on the happy hour menu were about $13. A couple of items were a little lower and a couple were a little higher. We plan to return soon and try some other items on the happy hour menu, and perhaps a full dinner one day as well. read more

$75 a person for their Thanksgiving buffet. There was no one checking in guests upon arrival and the line was way down into the parking lot. They require reservations and yet they had no one even putting us down or acknowledging us. The food was actually a joke. They had absolutely no turkey gravy. How do you not have turkey gravy on Thanksgiving? The potatoes were dry and roasted instead of mashed. Another big mistake is not having mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. Their salad was mushy and they roasted vegetables were hard. They had no butter out for the rolls. I felt l more like a piece of cattle in a herd than paying customer on Thanksgiving. The servers were completely overwhelmed and I had to hunt one down just to get more water. There is no one clearing the plates and it was just one big disaster. I think they should stop doing holiday buffets since they don't know how to do so. It's such a shame because the table next to us was complaining as well so I know it was not just us. It's hard to complain on a day that you're supposed to be grateful but when you're paying that kind of money and get completely taken advantage of, I think it's worth mentioning for sure. read more

Let me start by saying the food was good and our waitress was adorable. That's where it ended. I made my reservation online. Never was it mentioned that it was a fixed price menu for the night. $100 a plate. Ok so we decided to stay because we're wanted to watch the Christmas boat parade. We check in and they told us that we didn't have a reservation because we didn't give them a credit card number to hold the reservation. No one called or told us we needed one. We never got a confirmation or call. Nothing! So all we were offered was the outside patio. We were cold out there and we asked for two heaters. . The outside patio only had 4 heaters for 15 tables so very quickly one heater was taken away. Nothing nice about the patio especially when offering a $100 dollar a plate dinner. The food was good but The portions were very small. I had 2 pieces of lettuce for my salad and did not receive my cocktail until salad was finished. Did not serve bread even after we told them we were still hungry. No bread on a pre fixed menu was their answer. Did not have enough wait staff. Sat with our dirty dishes for 45 minutes. I reserved the patio for my wedding reception last August and the manager, Tony, was wonderful to work with. He arranged the tables as planned and provided the table cloths and napkins. My florist was able to arrive early to place the table arrangements. The service was first class with charcuterie boards and wine on the table and servers circulating the patio with hors d'oeuvres. I heard they recently revamped their menu so I decided it was time to come back and try it out ! I had some recommendations from friends and they were good. We had a window seat and the view was just so beautiful especially with the sunset . They also have a cute outside patio area. We ordered: Butter Board wasn't so much of the butter board spread I was expecting. It's pretty much bread and butter. Bread was great and freshly hot. Butter was Gorgonzola flavored (I believe but I can't remember if I'm wrong sorry). Calamari Fries I wish were slightly more crispy but it was still good. You can taste the freshness . Comes with a good creamy dipping sauce too. Drunken Shrimp pasta was OH SO GOOD! Everything about their sauce made my tastebuds happy! Especially with the condiments they offered! Ok now about their condiments tray. I was so confused when it came out cause at first I thought it was a dessert tray of some sorts and we didn't order dessert but then our server explained it all and then we were in love ! I love options so I pretty much got a bit of almost everything. The best one for me was the hard boiled egg yolk that's marinated in salt and grated for us to sprinkle on the pasta . The minus one star is for their service. They were great don't get me wrong. But it was 30 minutes before closing time and there were a good amount of patrons still in the restaurant and bar area but we felt so rushed by everyone. Even though our server said no rush after asking us if we were ready to pay. The manager and busser came by trying to take our plates away a couple times and then finally just took our plates while we were still taking bites from them. It wasn't so bad to where I wouldn't come back. The food was good. I just hope it doesn't happen again tbh. read more

If you enjoy dining by the water, this place is hard to beat .... in the area maybe none closer to the water. We arranged a Meetup Happy Hour event here with 30 friends. The owner/manager Tony could not have been more helpful in arranging it, responding to our numerous emails promptly. Abraham and the other servers were attentive and quick and everyone enjoyed their food and thought it great value. Entertainment was provided by youngsters racing tiny sailboats in the harbor and by a Blue Heron looking for its supper. The evening was capped by a sunset over the ocean. Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend. read more
