TLDR; Long waits, poor execution, billing mistakes, and a frustrating lack of accountability made this one of the worst dining experiences of our trip. Save yourself the headache and eat somewhere else. -- We were told our wait would be approximately 15 minutes. It ended up being closer to 30. Once seated, things got even worse. We sat for roughly 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging our table and had to flag down two separate employees before we were assigned a server. Despite arriving over an hour before I needed to leave for a scheduled appointment, our food didn't arrive until approximately 11:35 AM. Spending over an hour at breakfast for a simple meal is unreasonable, especially at a resort restaurant where guests often have reservations and activities planned. Unfortunately, the food wasn't worth the wait. The chicken sausage arrived room temperature, and my pancakes were raw in the middle. Not undercooked--raw. After waiting over an hour for breakfast, receiving food that wasn't properly prepared was incredibly disappointing. As if that weren't enough, the restaurant somehow managed to charge our credit card twice while also posting the charge to our room. Resolving the error became an ordeal of phone calls, receipt photos, waiting for managers, and multiple follow-ups. What should have been a simple correction ended up taking a significant amount of our vacation time. The most frustrating part wasn't even the mistakes themselves--it was the lack of urgency in fixing them. Nobody seemed particularly concerned that guests were waiting excessive amounts of time, receiving improperly prepared food, or dealing with billing errors. read more

This is a very fancy place. Risotto was a disappointment, under cooked and lacking in taste. Brussels Sprouts with pork belly was a great combo. Beet Salad 2 kinds (red and golden). I liked the golden more, softer and sweeter. Pork chop was topped with stewed apples. It was thick with little crisp. I enjoyed it. As locals & business owners, we were excited to give this restaurant a try, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing before we even had a chance to order. We valet parked, walked in, and took a seat at an open table. After waiting about 10 minutes, a staff member finally approached us--not to welcome us, but to tell us we couldn't sit there and needed a reservation. What made the experience frustrating was that there were plenty of open tables throughout the restaurant, yet no effort was made to accommodate us or offer any alternative solution. We completely understand that restaurants have reservation policies, but hospitality matters. A simple greeting when we arrived, an explanation of the policy, or an attempt to help us find a way to dine there would have gone a long way. Instead, we felt unwelcome and dismissed. Located inside Zachary Dunes Hotel you will find this resteraunt with such a great vibe. A little bit on the expensive side but you are on the beach in Southern California. If your not staying at the hotel there is resteraunt parking, you can ask valet and they will guide you on where to park. This resteraunt has a full bar and resteraunt and I got to try a few items during my 16 night stay here. Tha guacamole appetizer was fresh and flavor each time I had it. Good portion considering how much your paying. The queso fresco on top is a nice touch. I tried the fish tacos and those were ok. The tortillas were of nice quality but the fish itself just needed some flavor, very bland. I would probably avoid this if your looking with a dish with good flavors. We had the beet appetizer, Brussels sprouts appetizer, Scottish Salmon, and Lobster dinners. Our grandson had the buttered pasta with Parmesan cheese. I highly recommended skipping this "restaurant." When you enter the front entrance, you either pay $7/hr for valet, or drive to the left, GP all the way down the ramp to the self park area and pay $5/hr. No validation. When you get to the restaurant, you come in and wait to get seated. They ask if you are a hotel guest, and even though I said no, they still ask for name and number in party, even though it does not matter, and they can clearly see the amount of people I walked in with. Anyway, we get seated, everything is fine so far. Then someone came and got our drink orders, so we then asked the person if there were any other menus and was told that we just missed the brunch menu and they had just switched over to lunch menu that was already on the table. We looked it over and were very disappointed and dissatisfied, but we figured since we already came, we would give it a try anyway. After waiting about 10 minutes, a guy came by and only helped the table next to us. With no one else coming around, we just got up and left. The place was nice and cozy. There was only one other party right next to us, and although they were actually being served, they seemed very displeased too, which hinted us that it's probably better to just leave. Anyway, I don't plan on coming back, and I recommend staying away for those readings as well. read more

Blatant discrimination. I am not shocked by the behavior of the employee at this restaurant, but I am shocked that this happened in Oxnard. This place has been on my list for a while based on the photos of the food. I never read the reviews and should have, especially the bad ones that they did not pay for. We (4) came in for a late lunch and the hostess was ok, friendly enough but at no point did she mention that they switched over to a limited menu after 2pm - it was 2:10. We were seated at a round 4 top, directly next to the only other table there - a couple and their child. The hostess drops the little menu and proceeds to tell us that the server will help you. So we waited. A runner comes out to bring us water and we asked for their regular menu but she says this is the menu, no other menu for this time and walks away. We debated as it would have been nice to be notified of this limited menu by the hostess, but decided to stay and just make the best of it. So we waited and waited. A male server comes by, ignores us and walks past our table to get to the table next to us and is super chummy and friendly to them and says your lobster roll is on its way out. We were all looking at him because we kept waiting and no one came by and he walked the other way to avoid us. You can tell the lady at that table was wondering why he ignored us too. He knew there was no other party there, he knew we were there, he chose to ignore us, and purposely went the opposite way on the way back to avoid us. We waited a bit more and still no one came. At this point we called it a loss, they don't want to serve us. We drop $5 on the table for the tap water and on the way out that same male server was standing at the front and he was SO happy to see us leave. Exactly what he wanted. Mind you the restaurant was empty, NO one was coming in, he purposely walked the further way to avoid us, just to circle back to the hostess stand to do nothing. He made sure we knew that he didn't want anything to do with us and we were only visible to him when we were leaving. Paid for parking to have this experience. Cold fries. We also had ordered a burger to split and they served it with no extra plate, we asked for one and then the guy never brought one? Just a little disappointing... This time the gal that served us totally forgot to bring us our drinks. My husband saw the bartender making his bloody Mary and it was just sitting there for probably about 10 minutes. When our server came out to ask us if we'd like to order anything else, we said we'd like our drinks. She brought our drinks out and my husband Bloody Mary was completely watered down from sitting. Now I have to say the bloody Mary was served in a small glass and they charged us $21 for this drink, definitely was not worth it - an absolute gouge on the price. Our server did not check on us at all until our food was completely gone. So with that said these last two times here were not as top-notch as previous visits. I feel like your servers could use a little more training. Parking in the garage was free with validation. The menu has a mix of small and large plates that can be shared. My bf and I got the yellowtail aguachile ($21), short rib bao buns ($24), swordfish ($39), and lobster pappardelle ($48). I was pleasantly surprised with all the dishes, but I wish the dishes came out one at a time instead of all at the same time, because some of the dishes were cold/lukewarm. The yellowtail aguachile was fresh and tender. The short rib in the bao buns were quite tender, although could have been warmer temperature-wise. The swordfish shocked me because some pieces were super tender. Swordfish is usually dry to me, so I was impressed by the tender parts. The swordfish was cold when it came out, but the waiter was able to warm it up for me. The sauce was yummy and light, and I liked the turnip and eggplant. I was impressed by the large lobster pieces in the pappardelle. The lobster was pretty tender. The sauce for the pasta was not very strong. Overall, I would recommend all 4 dishes we got! The guacamole I got with it is the same yummy stuff spread on top of their artisan bread if you get the avocado toast. I ate this dish two days in a row and will definitely order it again. Located inside the Mandalay Bay hotel you will find this upscale and charming restaurant. The menu is small but by design. That way the chefs can focus on making the highest quality food without being watered down. For an appetizer we got the crispy potatoes. They were very good and the cream sauce that it comes with could be slathered on anything and I'd eat it. My wife tried the fish tacos and they were not bad, the sauce was delicious that it comes with, but the tortilla was a bit of a miss. Not the end of the world, just could be better. I tried the OXO Burger and wow, let me tell you. Top #3 best burgers I've ever tried in my life. Cooked perfectly to my liking and packing a ton of flavor. You know when you can really taste the quality of the meat. The fries it came with were also tasty and crispy. Service was slow in the beginning, but ended up being excellent. There was a wobble in our table and they fixed it up quick. We also never had to wait for anything, our waitress stayed on top of our table and delivered. The location is great, close to beach. Some seats outside you can even see the ocean. The restaurant itself is also pretty. We only had drinks and an app. Just needed to share that the cocktails are 17-18$. I think that's very expensive. The guac and chips were just ok. The chips were greasy. The biggest reason we wouldn't try again was the service. Hostess nice, waitress nice but it took forever to get a second drink. After 15 minutes after ordering it, when she returned (without our second drink) we said we were ready to go. She said oh but your drink didn't come, and ran off to get it before we could even say never mind. But... still took another 5-7 minutes to bring a margarita with no lime or garnish. Mind you, we had already said we were ready to go.... 10 minutes later, still no check. The food was amazing! The dishes were absolutely delicious. The crabcake was full of flavor, and the vegan pasta was fantastic. You do need to add the salmon, which comes separately for an additional charge of $20 for a slice to go on top of the pasta. The lavender cocktail was delightful--very flavorful--and the blueberry cocktail was also excellent. Upon our arrival, we got there a couple of minutes early and had to wait until our reservation time. The table we were seated at was a bit wobbly, and they had to come over to clean the area. One thing to note is that if you visit in the evening or afternoon, be aware that many hotel guests walk around the restaurant, which can be uncomfortable, though it's not uncommon. At the end of our dinner, we paid our bill, but the only uncomfortable situation we encountered was with our waitress, who seemed dissatisfied with the amount of tip we left. While the service was good, it felt unprofessional for the restaurant to allow their waitstaff to approach customers about their tips or to ask for more. But the bar area and food was probably some of the worst I've ever had in my entire life. Got fish tacos. Bit into the smallest tacos ever. Spit it out on second bite. Couldn't even finish one.
