Jumbo Scallop Fried Rice (Special of the day)

4 stars for the Grilled Pork Chop! Would've been a 5 but the meat was dry when it was further away from the bone and juicer when it was closer. Unfortunately, that meant 75% of the meat was dry, which still wasn't the worse since the squash puree, apple bacon chutney, and crushed pistachios added an immense amount of flavor!

My friend and I tried Ox & Ocean for the first time last night and the service was amazing. Our bartender Manny was so great. He made wonderful recommendations and crafted such tasty drinks that made the night really fun. The food was also super good. We will be back.

Located inside Zachary Dunes Hotel you will find this resteraunt with such a great vibe. A little bit on the expensive side but you are on the beach in Southern California. If your not staying at the hotel there is resteraunt parking, you can ask valet and they will guide you on where to park. This resteraunt has a full bar and resteraunt and I got to try a few items during my 16 night stay here. Tha guacamole appetizer was fresh and flavor each time I had it. Good portion considering how much your paying. The queso fresco on top is a nice touch. I tried the fish tacos and those were ok. The tortillas were of nice quality but the fish itself just needed some flavor, very bland. I would probably avoid this if your looking with a dish with good flavors. The service here was always on point. It can get very busy here on the weekends so just a heads up on that as well. Till next time.

Warm greeting by the hostess. The ambiance is fancy, but resort casual -- like an upscale restaurant in Hawaii. My server, Jess, was helpful and patient with all of my questions. And when I asked for recommendations, I was extremely impressed that she knew of my dietary restrictions from my OpenTable profile! (It's been a while since that happened.) Jess was attentive throughout, yet not intrusive. Since the daily special was an O&O Burger with a draft beer, my choice was made. It was at least 1/3 lb of beef and cooked to perfection. A fresh, lightly-toasted bun, slice of cheese, and a thick, ripe tomato slice finished it off. The Fried Strawberry Hand Pie is worth the visit all by itself! Hand made. Locally grown strawberries. Locally made vanilla ice cream. It all makes this warm treat a must. If you're staying here, how do you not have this for dessert each evening. Seriously! Parking is either valet or garage self-park. Two-hour validation included.

Blatant discrimination. I am not shocked by the behavior of the employee at this restaurant, but I am shocked that this happened in Oxnard. This place has been on my list for a while based on the photos of the food. I never read the reviews and should have, especially the bad ones that they did not pay for. We (4) came in for a late lunch and the hostess was ok, friendly enough but at no point did she mention that they switched over to a limited menu after 2pm - it was 2:10. We were seated at a round 4 top, directly next to the only other table there - a couple and their child. The hostess drops the little menu and proceeds to tell us that the server will help you. So we waited. A runner comes out to bring us water and we asked for their regular menu but she says this is the menu, no other menu for this time and walks away. We debated as it would have been nice to be notified of this limited menu by the hostess, but decided to stay and just make the best of it. So we waited and waited. A male server comes by, ignores us and walks past our table to get to the table next to us and is super chummy and friendly to them and says your lobster roll is on its way out. We were all looking at him because we kept waiting and no one came by and he walked the other way to avoid us. You can tell the lady at that table was wondering why he ignored us too. He knew there was no other party there, he knew we were there, he chose to ignore us, and purposely went the opposite way on the way back to avoid us. We waited a bit more and still no one came. At this point we called it a loss, they don't want to serve us. We drop $5 on the table for the tap water and on the way out that same male server was standing at the front and he was SO happy to see us leave. Exactly what he wanted. Mind you the restaurant was empty, NO one was coming in, he purposely walked the further way to avoid us, just to circle back to the hostess stand to do nothing. He made sure we knew that he didn't want anything to do with us and we were only visible to him when we were leaving. Paid for parking to have this experience. This place should be called BS because that is what it is.

I met my sister for brunch while she was visiting and decided to try Ox and Ocean. On a whim I ordered the Lemon Mascarpone Pancakes. Oh my god, they were delicious. They were so good, that I told my sister to try them. After we finished breakfast, she ordered some to go.

We really do enjoy walking over for a drink and an appetizer... great location on the beach! This weeks visit was a bit like out last one... we felt a little forgotten about on the patio!! Last time they served us cold French fries in a jar, we asked our server about getting hot ones and he was very gracious... brought another jar of fries out, but unfortunately the 2nd round was the same? Cold fries. We also had ordered a burger to split and they served it with no extra plate, we asked for one and then the guy never brought one? Just a little disappointing... This time the gal that served us totally forgot to bring us our drinks. My husband saw the bartender making his bloody Mary and it was just sitting there for probably about 10 minutes. When our server came out to ask us if we'd like to order anything else, we said we'd like our drinks. She brought our drinks out and my husband Bloody Mary was completely watered down from sitting. Now I have to say the bloody Mary was served in a small glass and they charged us $21 for this drink, definitely was not worth it - an absolute gouge on the price. Our server did not check on us at all until our food was completely gone. So with that said these last two times here were not as top-notch as previous visits. I feel like your servers could use a little more training. Their new maple brussels sprouts were amazing and the pork bau buns were tasty as well however, they were doused with a little bit too much sauce and lacked meat in fact, one of the three the little tacos was filled with a lot of meat and the other two barely any.

I met friends for a Christmas brunch. Made reservations in advance and it was nicely decorated and felt festive. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu provided enough options and even me that is a pescatarian. I had the chilaquiles and they were good. I would go back and check out their dinner or happy hour menu. Parking was validated at the restaurant which was nice.

The good: 1. Brussel sprouts were delicious. Some were undercooked and hard in the middle but the best dish we ordered The bad: 1. Brought out wrong order twice 2. Servers were no where to be found 3. Drink came with a broken glass 4. Ordered two of the same drinks and one tasted like the description while the other tasted like a completely different drink 5. Very sad looking salad 6. Tables were not cleaned down before seating 7. No music

Delicious. On the expensive side for the amount served. But, very good and filling. Service and ambiance were both pleasant. It was very comfortable and accessible. Really attractive views. Nice spot. Tropical vibes. I think it's worth a shot.

We had our dog so we choose to seat by the bar. The bartender wasn't very friendly, but the hostess and the waiter were amazing. It is Memorial Day weekend so they probably have a lot of business and seemed to be a understaffed. We were going to order more things but since they were taking forever, we decided to just leave. We wanted to pay to leave, but no one was available.mu husband had to go look for someone to pay our bill. The burgers were ok. The trip trip sandwich was blah. The margarita was refreshing. On the bright side our dog enjoyed his pet meal. We did enjoy the ambiance of the patio seating.

From the second we walked into ox and ocean, we were immediately impressed by the upscale coastal decor. Such a cute restaurant. We were greeted by Matthew with a smile and he is so kind, love him! We ordered the lemon pancakes and the veggie omelet which were both amazing. Love that the hot sauce comes in a cute little bottle. 10/10 on food for sure. Selena our waitress was really kind and professional. The hotel is very lucky to have great staff like Matthew and Selena!! Can't wait to be back for lunch/dinner and happy hour.

Parking was super easy with plenty of spaces, which was a huge plus. The restaurant is right next to the water and had such chic, romantic vibes--perfect for a special occasion. It was a fixed menu, but we were still able to choose our entrees. We started with a salad and lobster bisque, which was my first time trying it, and it was so good. For my entrée, I got the braised short rib and it was AMAZING--super juicy and full of flavor. I also ordered an espresso martini, which was delicious. I added a photo of our drinks because they were all so good. Dessert was a choice between tiramisu and cheesecake, and both were delicious. After dinner, we walked by the ocean next to the restaurant, which made the night even better. Definitely an amazing Valentine's dinner!

We sat outside, which was the best choice because there was a singer and, while she was really good, her amps went up to 11. She was the highlight. I ordered the French onion soup and it was ok. Average. We shared the Dippin Trio, which was ok. A little above average. The dips were tasty and there was enough pita. However, LeeAnn got the eggs Benedict and it was subpar, at best. The eggs were overcooked, which to me is a crime when you order a benny. The point of a benny is the mix of runny yolk and hollendaise sauce. Speaking of the hollendaise, it tasted like it was from a package. The taste was far too sweet and a bit stale...and no lemon to speak of. Just not good. Plus, there was a piece of eggshell under the first egg. Not sure if there was more as that was the first and last bite taken. The service was good. They were kind enough to take the Benedict off the bill, but made it sound like it was a special favor. That's mediocre service as far as I'm concerned. Needless to say, we've no need to go back. Shame.

It's covered, so it feels like you're inside, but it's still open-air and pup friendly, which we loved. They even have a pup menu and bring out little metal water bowls. Our doggo was living his best life. The menu is large with tons of options. That said, the tots were tasty (just eat them quickly because they cool off fast!). His eggs were cooked perfectly, but the $3.50 upcharge to add blueberries to the pancakes felt steep, and the bacon was mostly fat and a bit overcooked. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with poached eggs, and the eggs were absolutely perfect. The dish was bursting with flavor. My only critique was that the beans were a bit too liquid-heavy, which made the tortilla very soggy, I couldn't finish as much as I would've liked because of that. The Bloody Marys, though? So good. Highly recommend! We both loved them. Our server was pleasant and friendly. Oh and there was a Char Man hot sauce on the table that was EPIC! Overall, we would definitely come back, we'd just try a few different menu items next time... except for the Bloody Marys. Those are a repeat order for sure.
