    Grilled prawns
    Tina O.

We are staying at the hotel and decided to try their restaurant for an early dinner. It felt like we had a private romantic restaurant to ourselves. The restaurant is very clean and has a wonderful menu selection. Jay was our server and he was helpful with just the right amount of attentiveness. We started with a heavenly strawberry, spinach salad, and a bowl of their clam chowder. My husband ordered the New York steak with mashed potatoes. It came with a lovely bourbon type sauce on the side, and the vegetables were a nice summer blend. I ordered the grilled prawns which was served with linguine and a grilled lemon and saffron sauce, SO Yummy! They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Apparently, they have dueling pianos on Friday and Saturday nights. We will be sure to try that out soon. This is a great restaurant in a nice location with fair market value, pricing, casual and sophisticated. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

We stayed in the hotel for a retreat. The organization paid for a Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast voucher / lunch / dinner, and Sunday breakfast. 1. Each breakfast was in the Moofish cafe. Saturday, we had the mocha coffee, salmon toast, avocado toast, and surfers' Benedict. Sunday, mocha coffee, avocado toast, and medium-rare steak and eggs. 2. Buffet lunch was Mexican style. Liked the fork-sized pieces of churro with chocolate sauce OR dulce de leche sauce. 3. Ingredients are probably local, so they could advertise as such!

Leaving Moofish patio after Dueling Pianos weekend . Yummy appetizers and drinks and good service

Great little place by the beach! Went at 8pm whe piano time started. Go for Dueling Pianos if you can! Good service, fun atmosphere, good fries and drinks. The manager lady (I think) was very sweet to my foster dog on patio and the server blonde lady was very good at her job and a good listener. The piano people inside were funny and did some good Elton John impressions. You can tip them to play a song you like. Fun to people watch. Dueling pianos is hard to find these days so fun to see it happening here!

A Fantastic Breakfast with Even Better Service My husband and I stopped in for breakfast during our stay and couldn't have been happier with our experience. We enjoyed our meal out on the patio, which was bright, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing morning. I ordered the country fried steak, and it was easily one of the best I've ever had - perfectly cooked, generously portioned, and topped with delicious gravy. The biscuit it was served on was by far the best I've had in California! I'm from the 'South' and I know biscuits! The breakfast potatoes were crispy and flavorful. My husband went with the breakfast burrito, which came with chips and salsa and was packed with hearty ingredients. We both cleaned our plates! The service was absolutely wonderful. Sarah took great care of us, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. We'll definitely be coming back!

I try to be as generous as possible when writing reviews, but this is, without a doubt, the worst restaurant I have been to the entire time I have lived in Ventura. My wife and I decided to try this place, since they were having a dueling piano event (which are every Friday and Saturday night). We made a reservation and were seated right away in chairs. Things quickly went downhill, starting with us sitting around in chairs (that are hard as a rock) for 10 minutes or so for anyone to come to our table. We finally get to place our order, which included the Brussel spouts, fish and chips, and the Moofish burger. We were a little surprised when the Brussel sprouts came out on a plastic plate with little to no actual seasoning, but things got worse...much worse! The fish was the driest fish I have ever eaten, and the burger was lower quality than I got in my high school cafeteria. It seriously looked and tased like it had been a frozen patty (came out well-done when we ordered medium), and you could have replaced the bun with a sponge and I don't think anyone would have noticed. A few bites into our meals and I asked my wife if we should just call the meal a loss and go get in-n-out, but she was committed to hearing the pianists play the song we paid to hear (a point I return to below). Neither of us finished our meals. We also asked for water and ordered several drinks. We didn't receive water until about halfway through our meal, and one of the drinks they couldn't make because they didn't have the ingredients. The server was extremely kind and did her best to make a similar cocktail to the one my wife had wanted, but it is worth noting that there were only a handful of cocktails on the menu. Finally, the dueling pianos. They were entertaining and, per usual, were accepting requests you could submit with paper they handed out to all tables. I wanted to hear the Campfire Song from SpongeBob Squarepants, and we threw in a dollar tip to hear it. It wasn't much, but most people weren't giving anything. After our terrible meal we sat around waiting for the song and the pianists not only played the SpongeBob intro instead of the Campfire Song, he proceeded to say afterwards "I can't believe someone paid me a dollar to play that s#!t". So yeah, we won't be back, and I will be actively telling people to avoid this place. In short, we spent around $120 on terrible food and were indirectly insulted by the pianist. At the very least, the experience was so terrible that my wife and I now have something to look back on with laughs.

Me and my mother spent a quick getaway here. For the breakfast, we decided to do it quick and easy. Going to the Hotel Restaurant. Moofish is part of Crown plaza Ventura. It is also open to the public. The price is alright. Waiting staffs are quick to serve. I ordered a breakfast burritos. My mom ordered a salmon fillet. The quality is pretty standard Crown Plaza Hotel like. Not bad, nothing stood out.

We came here after the fair and sat in the beautiful dog friendly patio. We were serenaded by the talented and comical dueling pianos team. They were amazing and kept us very entertained. Our servers were also awesome and attentive. It was a chilly night but the heat-lamps kept us toasty! My Cioppino was delicious fresh and very filling and my friend loved her burger and was also full. Prices are good too!

Once your seat is ready, you order at the counter and you get a number. The staff that took our order was awesome. Friendly, warm, high energy, and efficient. Our order came out in about 10-15 min. Water is self serve. Drip coffee- perfect and high quality. It tasted like Kona coffee! Lavender matcha- great and well balanced Japanese milk bread- this fell a tad short for me. I would've liked both sides to be seasoned/flavored. Japanese Milk bread is typically moist and fluffy , however this was a little dry likely due to the toasting of the bread. The color overall was lighter than expected. It's served with a berry sauce which is really yummy. Side of smashed potatoes- really good. Perfectly seasoned and ketchup tasted homemade Aussie meat pie- soooooo delicious! The crust was awesome and the meat was tender. We also loved the side salad because it had a little zing of lemon. A rare moment where a side salad is actually fantastic! Miso chicken katsu Sando- really loved this! The chicken breast is huge. As other reviews stated, it's not a typical chicken katsu. If you like honey, you'll like this. The honey sauce hits you on the front end and ends with a little acidity from the aioli and slaw. The sandwich was super juicy and flavorful. While large, it didn't feel heavy. Each bite got better and better. Brontë bowl - OUR FAVORITE!!!! Ok first off, I hate mushrooms with a passion, but I kept them in the order because they are curried and I knew theyre an essential part of the dish. They were awesome. I didn't mind them one bit. This dish does not need salmon, and if anything I think adding it would've been too salty. I naturally eat fast but this bowl makes you slow down because of the layers/elements. The sweetness of onions, the creaminess of the feta and avocado, the crunch from the seeds, the delicious pesto, the buttered bread, the perfectly poached eggs - UGH! So perfect! Everything had a purpose. I am obsessed with this bowl. It is so much more filling than you'd think. I could eat this everyday and I hope they never change it. Ambiance was great. We sat at the bar which felt spacious. The inside is gorgeous and just puts you in a good mood. The best thing about this place is the staff. Literally every single person we interacted with was amazing! Everyone here is friendly, warm, and just looks happy to be there. I can't wait to return!!!!!

There is something about this place that immediately lifts your mood the moment you walk inside. The atmosphere feels warm lively and full of personality in a way that teenagers naturally connect with. It has that comfortable playful energy where you can sit down talk with someone enjoy your food and feel like you are part of a fun little world without any pressure at all. I did not expect it to feel that youthful and inviting but it absolutely did. One thing that stood out to me more than anything else was the garlic bread. Busy Bee Cafe is the only location I know that has garlic bread with a taste I genuinely love. I do not even know if they sell that exact garlic bread online and honestly that mystery makes it feel even more special. The flavor is warm buttery and rich in a way that hits you instantly. It is the kind of garlic bread that teenagers would enjoy a lot especially if they are hanging out with friends and looking for something comforting and delicious to share. It is rare to find something so simple that leaves such a strong impression. While I was there I noticed a lot of teenagers enjoying the space and it made perfect sense. The cafe has a classic retro charm that feels both nostalgic and fresh at the same time. It is the kind of place where teenagers can take pictures enjoy the decor and feel completely at ease. The environment supports creativity and fun without trying too hard. I appreciated that same feeling myself. It reminded me of how easy it can be to enjoy a place when the atmosphere naturally encourages you to relax and be present. I have only visited Busy Bee Cafe once in my life before writing this review but that one visit was more than enough to make it memorable. It is rare to find a place that feels relaxed and exciting at the same time but this cafe manages to do that effortlessly. The garlic bread alone makes me want to return but the overall experience is what stays with you. It is playful welcoming and full of life in a way that makes you feel mentally sharp youthful and connected to the moment. I would highly recommend that teenagers go to Busy Bee Cafe in Ventura. It gives them a place to enjoy great food take pictures hang out with friends and feel creative and energized.
