Thank you Larsen's Grill in Oxnard for saving our Christmas dinner! The restaurant we had reservations for flooded due to the rain storm of the century and could not open. We called Larsen's and they had an open reservation at 7:30 PM. We were greeted with friendly faces, a joyful ambience in the restaurant and it was definitely Christmas. We had two dinners of lobster tail and one of the pork chop. This was a preset menu, which was very representative of their excellent food. The pork chop was probably the best pork chop we've ever had in our lives. It was prepared sous vide style and so tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The lobster tails were good size, broiled, but a little dry and not much flavor but the butter made them all better. We still enjoyed it and really were happy to be there. We tried 3 of the desserts. The maple bourbon crème brûlée, the butter cake and their house-made Keylime pie. There were three of us eating and we all tried these options. We had two thumbs up on the crème brûlée, one thumb up on the butter cake and no thumbs up on the Keylime pie. The Keylime pie was similar in our mind to a cheesecake (huge piece, super creamy but it's not what we were used to. The crème brûlée was delicious, but we didn't get much maple bourbon flavor. The butter cake tasted and felt like a cake doughnut, delicious but not what we expected. We also enjoyed the maple carrots side dish, it was fantastic! All in all the dinner was successful and again thank you Larsen's for serving us all on Christmas instead of you being home with your families. It is truly appreciated!!! read more

I had the rib/trip tip combo and the ribs slid right off the bone. very extensive wine and cocktail list. the 2022 Austin Hope did not disappoint. the desserts were decadent and could feed a small country. try the butter cake! The next day I had a voicemail from the restaurant thanking us for visiting and offering to answer any questions or take feedback. After having Larsen's here for years, we finally had dinner here. Such nice vibes inside. Upscale but relaxing. Delicious steaks, cooked to perfection. Nice cocktail menu. Extensive wine menu. Wish they offered a decent bread option. Normally steakhouses offer a good bread and butter menu option, and their garlic bread just doesn't cut it. Easy parking, short walk. I want to start this review by thanking Mark for his above and beyond service at Larsen's. His attention to detail was what completed our dinner. I chose Larsen's to celebrate my mother's birthday and made a dinner reservation online for 6 of us. We were a larger party which is why the attention to detail was clearly delivered. We started our dinner with 2 appetizers of the Jalapeno Queso Dip and Guac, creamy, cheesy, and with a little bit of spicy. Great appetizer to start. Everyone in the my party enjoyed their entrees from the New York Strip, Filet Mignon, Porterhouse, Rib Eye, and Sea Bass. I ordered the Hawaiian Tri Tip which I will rate an 8/10. The tri tip was a bit overcooked but next time I will simply choose a different entree. The flavor and taste was great. It paired great with their mac and cheese (order a larger size as it is very rich and creamy. Try and save some room for their dessert menu. The butter cake pairs excellent with vanilla ice cream. Among the dessert drink menu the PB & J Old Fashioned drinks tastes exactly like the classic PB & J sandwich. We've been coming here often for date nights, anniversaries, and for the past three years, Christmas as well. It's always delicious, and the customer service is consistently so kind and welcoming. We even have favorite servers because of how friendly and attentive they are every time. The vibe is nicely upscale but still chill and relaxed. The food is always a hit, and we've never had any major issues. There was one time when a pasta dish wasn't quite up to par, but every other visit has been fantastic. Went for Happy Hour . Service is amazing. The calamari tasted awful but really enjoyed the steak tacos and spinach dip. It's supposed to be spinach /artichoke but it was all spinach . Still great . House wine was good too. Why the 5 stars ? It is because when I told the server , Alex about the issue he took the dish away immediately and asked if he could bring anything else while apologizing. My BF took me here for a quiet, relaxed dinner last night. We started with the Maryland crab cakes (wow!! So yummy!) and I enjoyed an 8 oz. grass fed filet, with loaded baked potato for my main meal. My boyfriend ordered the Chilean miso sea bass which he's had several times. When he bit into it, he said it had a rubbery texture and therefore opted out of eating it. Rather, I'm sipping on an Old-Fashioned, eating a hearty meal over happy hour. It's low-key and intimate. The Grilled Fish Tacos, come in a duo. The Jalapeno, Bacon, Mac & Cheese is a generous portion, enough to share. Meaty bits of jalapeno and bacon. Most items on the Happy Hour menu are $15. Darn inflation, prices were better beforehand. The bar area of the restaurant is "First Come, First Serve" with plenty of high-top bar tables for 3 and 4 people. There are two TVs to catch a game. The piano man in the corner is a nice touch. My wife and I went for our annual Valentine's Day dinner and again the meal was phenomenal. We shared the wedge salad chopped in the kitchen which was great, while enjoying a glass of Pinot Grigio. Probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant, especially one that is considered one of the best in the city. We arrived at 8:30 and there were literally two other people in the restaurant having dinner. I ordered a martini and it took 15 minutes to arrive. I ordered the Caesar salad with anchovies. The anchovies were absolutely disgusting and not edible. Very fishy to say the least! My wife and I both ordered the rotisserie chicken. She specifically asked that whatever glaze comes with it is not put onto her chicken since it had sugar and she does not eat sugar. Needless to say, her chicken arrived with the honey glaze poured all over the chicken. The waiter disappeared for 20 minutes and never even checked to see how we were doing. We also had asked for water when he brought the entrées and that arrived 20 minutes later as well. The chicken was bland and had zero flavor and same with the mashed potatoes and carrots. I was charged $26 for my Chopin martini. Lol! What a great deal! I have no clue how this place stays in business. read more

The hostess was sweet and we were seated within 30 minutes on a Sunday night of black friday weekend. We waited at the bar and the drinks were delicious, strawberry fields and a strawberry lemon drop! Dinner was AMAZING! Oysters were fresh and yummy. We ordered an off menu offer the A5 Wagyu from Japan and it was literally melt in your mouth, loaded baked potato and the mac and cheese were a perfect pair to the steak and our server Matt wow he made the experience awesome as well he was well know ledged with the menu and just relatable! Larsen's Grill is a pretty fancy steakhouse restaurant that serves all their entrees in a very presentable, appetizing manner. Most of their food was delicious, but there were some flaws. The thing that was lacking for me was the flavor and how long the meat was cooked. First of all, the service was outstanding. The waitress that helped us was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all the questions that we had really well. The jalapeno queso dip was such a good appetizer to start off our meal. The queso was hot and cheezy and guacamole was creamy and delicious. It's the best of both worlds when it comes to chips and dip. The New York strip was a little disappointing. It first came out quite overcooked in the middle even though we asked for medium rare. It was more medium well to us. The server was really nice to let the kitchen know and we got another New York strip with the right consistency. Although it was cooked to our liking, the meat was not as tender as we would like it to be. It might've been the cut of the beef or just older beef, but it just wasn't as satisfying to eat. The baked potato that came along with it was really good though even though this shouldn't be the star of the dish. The herb roasted chicken lacked in flavor and the chicken was just not juicy. The entree looked beautiful though, but the taste was just average to me. Overall, it was still a good experience because the employees were all very nice and understanding, but I just wasn't impressed by the food as much as I thought I would have been. read more

Best place in Oxnard by far for a date night. Me and my girlfriend went for our anniversary, we were welcomed with smiles as soon as we walked in. We sampled a few wines. Our server Alfred was very helpful while ordering. He opened and poured us a glass, for us it felt very luxurious. He made us feel comfortable. He even explained we could bring our own bottle for a small cork fee. We ordered one of the specials for that night. Steak was amazing. Sides were great. Some of the Brussels sprouts were little burnt in my opinion. That's my only complaint of the night. But still delicious honestly. The music was subtle, and romantic. When we finished our meal we were surprised with an anniversary dessert. Which was one of the best desserts I ever had. Everything tasted fresh and balanced.
