First time at Outback Steakhouse. I read a lot of bad reviews, but honestly I really liked it. The drinks were delicious, the French onion soup was hot and cheesy, and the salad, salmon, and ribs tasted great. The only thing I didn't love was the Blooming Onion--it mostly tasted like oil to me. Service was quick and great, just the right amount of attention. My Mom always said, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing, at all." So NICE: Our Server, Alexis was kind, professional, efficient, nice, Sweet!!! The rest- The order: Husband ordered French Inion Soup, broiled salmon, and Mac Cheese: the soup had a "clump" of cheese in the bottom of the bowl of COLD soup, the Squaw bread that was served was luke-warm. Dinner came and the Mac Cheese was cold and old the cheese had sat too long and vulcanized to the bottom of the container. The salmon was over cooked, so too dry, and had sat too long, so it was cold, too, and the sauce (which might have helped) was missing in action... I ordered the 9 oz Sirloin steak (because 6 months ago, when I ordered it, it was good!). Tonight it was cold, ( cooked correctly) but it was so tough that I left 2 of the 3 ATTEMPTED bites-/ on the plate (pics to follow ). I ordered the green salad and baked potato as accompaniments. The salad was okay (high praise, considering the rest of the meal!). And the baked potato was COLD, therefore waxy, I asked for a replacement. It was brought out, and was as cold and inedible as the first. When the manager came to the table, I pointed out that it was too tough to eat... His response, "Well, sirloins CAN sometimes be a little tougher." Couldn't handle a $28. Steak being so tough that you couldn't CHEW IT!! The manager, asked if I would like a filet mignon instead.. At that point, I said that a hamburger would be an improvement, so he adked if I wanted a hamburger. I said no. I would prefer the filet. So they brought a THIRD baked potato--- this was at least hot!!! After 6 minutes I was given a 6 oz filet (alone) on a COLD plate! I made a cut and the knife went through a band of gristle that the STEAK KNIFE WOULD NOT CUT (see photo) I went to the other side of the steak and cut a bite, and it was tender and tasty!! Imagine my surprise when I cut (tried) another bite, and saw gristle and fat in the next 3 cuts... We are NOT talking marbling! We are talking LAYERS OF FAT!! I left the remainder on the plate! Hopefully, the manager will show it to the chef(?) because there is no way that the cook did NOT SEE THAT FAT!! So suffice it to say, we will NOT BE RETURNING TO THE Outback, in Oxnard!! read more

Outback is Outback, right? Unless it's this Outback. 5 out of 5. Greeted and Seated, 5. Food, 5. Service was a 10. Clarissa was so personable. And, well, I'm not picky but maybe I do like things how I want them. I wanted a couple of changes from the pre-printed choices and she guided me to just the right choices. And she was both clear and incredibly sweet! And, yes, our food was served hot and quickly and cooked just right. I had Shrimp in the Barbie, Baked Yam and a Wedge. No pics as I ate it up! Since moving here to Ventura, I have eaten here about 4 times already and I have absolutely loved my experience EVERY SINGLE TIME. Is it embarrassing to say that this is one of my favorite restaurants in Ventura County? LOL Sometimes this place can get packed with a long wait time but usually it's moderately busy with good vibes. The service is quick and the servers are always very friendly and attentive. I am a HUGE fan of their Bloomin Onions. It's a really heavy appetizer but if you have some friends to share it with, it's perfect. Great flavor and good crisp. Excellent sauce. Also, they have a lot of deals randomly throughout the year where they give out free Bloomin Onions. I also love their Kookaburra Wings. It's about $18 and comes with a solid portion of wings. The flavor is SURPRISINGLY so good and I am so glad I tried it. I got the medium spice level which wasn't bad; I think I'll try a higher spice level next time. You can also request flats only! I tried their new Mozzarella Boomerangs. I have been raving about Chili's mozzarella sticks and I honestly think these are better. They're not as greasy and heavy. It's breaded with Bloomin Onion spices and is very flavorful! And it comes with a good number (6) of mozzarella sticks for just $10. read more

I was a fan outback I like Prime Rib I always go to the outback for it. My last 4 trips, Have been a big disappointment, their quality of meat is not good. I think it USDA Choice its been a bit chewy, My last trip there I ordered the 12oz classic prime med rare, they brought med the seasoned prime rib and it looked like it was med. I told the waitress I ordered classic prime rare. she took it back and 5mins later she returned with Classic prime that was at least med. I pointed out again I wanted RARE at that point she went to the manager on duty, He came to my table and Stated that they don't have any rare prime available at that time . I told him that the staff should have informed of that fact and not have tried to put the plate in front of me and hope that i wouldn't notice. read more

I came here for an early dinner on a Saturday evening mainly because I was staying at a nearby hotel and didn't feel like driving anywhere. Although the place was actually quite busy at about 5 pm, they were still able to seat me with very minimal wait. After looking over the menu, I ordered the 5 oz sirloin (cooked medium) with grilled shrimp. I got it with broccoli and a Caesar salad. For my drink, I got an iced tea. Service was good, food was not bad, and everything was reasonably priced. However, the steak was a bit tough even for a sirloin. We took our friends out at their request to Outback for their birthdays. It was not my first choice for a birthday dinner but they insisted. I will admit we were pleasantly surprised. We went today for my wife's birthday and let me tell you, the food was as good or better than Larson's or Prime, and they're excellent restaurants. What set Outback apart for us was the service. We had a server, Angelina, who was so attentive and intuitive, that I had to ask for the manage so that I could express our appreciation for her excellent service. I cook daily so I know good food, and this was good food with the added benefit of an excellent experience. No wonder the parking lot was full! Not sure what happened to this location but they rarely allow DoorDash orders. I used to order every Friday as my "you made it through the week" reward. I've tried the last 5 weeks and DoorDash just shows they're closed until Sunday. I've called several times, was once told "hmm that's weird we've been getting DD orders all day" another time was told "sometimes they turn it off when we're busy", and another time "yeah we've been having trouble with it" one time they said "we can do a take out order and you can pick it up". Sometimes I can't drive due to partaking in an edible after a long week so... It's too bad because I've NEVER had an issue with the food--it travels really well! I hope management sees this because I miss my treat. read more

The lighting is AWFUL and low class and WAY TOO BRIGHT here. The harsh overhead lights are like stadium lights and they glare horribly in your eyes. It's like you're eating at McDonalds or Target or a gas station. Alhough I love the Caesar salad and prime rib, my husband and I actively dislike the lighting here. Outback Steakhouse needs to INSTALL different LED bulbs or fixtures with MUCH lower wattage or illumination (and warmer golden toned bulbs, not cold blue/white toned bulbs) or install all lighting on DIMMERS!!!! Or just eliminate some of the overhead lighting cans altogether; there are way too many overhead lights. Why don't they care about creating a classy and more comfortable, relaxing ambiance? If foodies are going to splurge on a nice meal out, the experience needs to deliver more than a good plate of food. I ordered the steak and ribs. I asked for no pink or medium well, and was told to go with well done. I've had well done steak before but not burnt big difference. The steak I ordered was well done to the point it was burned and the ribs were just as overcooked. We frequent Outback 1-2 times a month and it is becoming more and more of a disappointment. If I'm willing to pay for a good steak, I feel that's what I should get. The cocktail drinks and loaded baked potato was delicious. read more

We went here last night for the first time ever and will probably not be back. Outback is currently offering a special 3 course deal but our server told us this location was not participating. We should have left but stayed and were underwhelmed by the food. The service was good but felt the ambiance was basic and plain and the food was overpriced. There's nothing worse than paying good money for bad food... How this place is still in business completely baffles me. I was here 8 or 9 years ago and had one of the worst steaks of my life but i got lured in because i was craving a blooming onion. The blooming onion was decent and thats about where the positives end. I got a cheeseburger which was pretty much completely flavorless and devoid of seasoning. My wife had steak and shrimp pasta. She asked for medium on the steak bits... i would hate to see what they would serve of someone asked for well done. There wasnt a sliver of pink in the steak. It was overdone, tough, and pretty much flavorless except for the spots here or there with a random mound of pepper... unpleasant to say the least. Embarrassing actually. The pasta was blah and the shrimp was okay i guess... kinda salty. Overall... very bad. The service was poor as well. Sat there waiting to order while our waitress went back and forth taking orders of 2 tables that sat after us. Then after we finished we waited over 20 minutes before they brought the check... with an impatient 2 year old. I wont be fooled again. We quit going here about 2 years ago as food was marginal and service was poor. We were hungry, heading to Bandits in T.O. , But traffic was moving at a snail's pace, so we thought we try it again. I haven't been to Outback in so many years. To be honest, nothing really stands out but my friend was raving about the bread so I figured I'd give it another shot. There was surprisingly a bit of a wait, but we we were seated promptly. Flipping through the menu, I noticed that a lot of items were deep fried or drenched in sauce (which probably explains the crazy high calories). I opted for the sirloin and had a side of veggies and a salad to replace the potato it comes with. I ordered the sirloin medium and it was quite tough. It partly may have been because it's a leaner cut, but I've honestly had better steak at home. The broccoli was really mushy and under-seasoned. The salad looked like something that came straight out of a grocery store salad kit. To be quite honest, I probably would not come back to Outback just because the price of the food is quite high for what you're getting. I've had much better steaks at home for a fraction of the cost. However, I do want to mention that the customer service here was great. My friend ordered his steak medium rare and it was too rare. The manager came over and quickly took the steak back to be cooked for a little longer. The low rating is more towards the food itself, but the overall dining experience was pretty standard. read more

Loved our waiter very attentive very nice very fast, only thing was that they were chewing gum the whole time. They took down all of the artwork on the walls, which used to be very cool. Don't know why they made the whole restaurant blank. And they have added way too many lighting that has the brightest bulbs. It feels like you're in a hospital waiting room more than a nice restaurant anymore, they are as bright as somebody who has their brights on the highway driving at night coming at you . They need to go back to making it a dim to be more romantic and add the artwork back on the walls. but the food was good as always. Other than the caramel salted cookie can have a hint of saltines, but it was like doused in salt. We couldn't even finish more than a couple bites. She was attentive, sweet, and was so incredibly helpful with the menu since it was my first time going to an Outback Steakhouse. Mission objective: Conquer the Bloomin' Onion! Last time I had a fried onion bloom was at the Ventura County fair last year and it was so good. Since then, I have been craving it like crazy. And every time I see Outback, my urge to have one grows. Finally I gave in and I was able to convince the wifey that for our anniversary, we should go to Outback. So on the special day, we went to Outback and had the Bloomin' Onion. It was fried perfectly , the batter was crunchy and delicious, and the Bloomin' sauce was heavenly. It was everything I expected it to be and I was happy. What more can you ask for. As for everything else, my wife's Cobb Salad was great, she loved it. And my son always loves his burgers. Service was great also. I did get a burger and fries for my main dish but didn't eat too much of it. I wanted the Bloomin' Onion as that was my mission. This is mine and my wife's every Tuesday lunch date spot. We usually get quick seating at the bar and prompt service. We didn't have our usual bartender this time. I ordered the soup and salad. I asked for sour cream on the side. I waited for about 10 minutes after I got my dish. The bartender was on this phone chatting away with a coworker. I had to remind him about my sour cream. We were pleasantly surprised at the level of service and the quality of the food at this Outback! My husband and I like to share meals. We ordered the 18 oz bone in rib eye with a sweet potato and Brussels sprouts, with an add on Caesar salad. The food was well prepared and tasty with generous portions. There was no split fee, which was nice! The ribeye was delicious and a better quality of meat than we expected at a chain restaurant. Best of all was the service..from the sweet hostess, the attentive and gracious server (Luis), and the caring Manager, we felt welcomed and valued.
