A must visit teppan dinner between 4-6 for the twilight specials! Start with miso soup, continue with salad, then continue with the chef creating your meal in front of you! An onion fire volcano, steaming train complete with train whistles and a flying veggie to catch in your mouth! This is a fun show that really compliments the delicious meal! The fried rice is a must, even though they make it in the back post Covid, the shrimp that comes with each meal as well as classic hibachi veggies (onion, carrots, broccoli, zucchini and bean sprouts) are covered with oil and butter, salt and pepper for the best taste! The steak is amazing, if you like medium get med rare as it cools more while you wait for it to cool. The kids steak hibachi meal is $16, same amount of meat and veggies, just no salad or soup. We love this restaurant for just our little family or big groups, it is always delicious! We will definitely be back! Pro tip: arrive early, there is almost always a wait!

First of all Omg !! Well this is my favorite spot but I was never able to do a review because this place has its ups and downs , Years ago when the elder couple ran this restaurant it was clean fun inexpensive and everyone there was happy , now This place has gone down so bad ! They have 2 younger men running the place and they are rude , arrogant and a lot other stuff !! I see there is poor management!! The restrooms (woman) are sooooo dirty super gross I could not bring myself to take pictures ! It smelled like rotten fish ! The sink is broken and paper towels are there to cover a leak . It is very sad that these two men brought this place down so much ! They need to hire some one to clean up the place and put order back into this restaurant and make it how it used to be .. make it great again !

If you want experience, definitely come here! You will have meal and show. My family and I came back in May to celebrate my boyfriend visiting from the east coast. It's delicious and the experience is always fun to watch. The cooks do a very god job of keeping you entertained and each show is different. They are fun and do a good job. The food was delicious! Especially the fried rice. The vegetables have a good flavor and i love how they season it. I am very picky with my vegetables and they did a good job preparing it. I love going here and will defiantly come back to experience this again. It's such a family establishment and all family would have a great time here.

Came in to celebrate a birthday with a huge group of 17 and had a wonderful time Food: I was surprised how delicious the food was. I had the steak hibachi which included veggies and your choice of fried or white rice (I had white rice). The steak was tender and cooked well and was delicious with the 3 dipping sauces provided. I also tried the fried rice and it was bland. I had a Sapporo beer as well. Service: To be seated and service did take some time but it was also very understandable considering our large group size and time of service. Our chef made our teppanyaki experience fun. Price: very affordable price for the meal considering how many sides were included Highlight: the steak was cooked perfectly to my liking

Food was outstanding they even have an early bird menu until 6pm daily. Staff very friendly from the greeter to the cooks. The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and pleasant.

Filet Mignon and Shrimp Combo

The service is always excellent. They're extremely sweet. But every single time I have come, I order my meat either medium rare or medium(because usually when I order medium rare it turns out raw) the meat has been extremely raw. Spending hundreds here is very frustrating when you enjoy the experience and gag at the food because it's completely raw.

The staff and service was amazing. Thank you to the busser who brought extra sauces. Thank you! It did feel a little rush. I felt we didn't get to enjoy our dinner because our waiter brought out the check immediately after we got all our food. I was going to order dessert but I felt like I was rushed to leave. They did have additional parties outside waiting so I'm assuming that's why we felt rushed so they can accommodate them. Only reason I'm giving them 4 stars. However I'll come back again and update my review. Overall I enjoyed the food. I always look forward to the salad.

Salmon Fried Rice Special

I ordered dinner from here tonight through Grubhub so I cannot speak to the service or restaurant itself. However, I can speak to the food I ate. I really wanted scallops but was surprised by how expensive it was so I settled for the fried rice bowl with salmon filet. It said the salmon was 5oz and was pleasantly surprised at how substantial the piece of fish felt that I received. It was cooked perfectly and not overcooked at all. The zucchini, onions, and fried rice were absolutely delicious. I would absolutely eat food from here again, though based on some of the recent reviews, it sounds like take out or delivery may be a better option than dine in, which does defeat a lot of the fun that typically comes with this kind of meal. Though I do like to give places a chance and not just go based off reviews. Knocking off 1 star because it does feel a bit pricey for what it is...especially for the entrees which have steak or scallops.

Good is wonderfully good. Cooked right in front of you. Also bring your own alcohol. Service is good the staff and cooks very friendly and funny. The new place is very big table fits at least 8 to 9 people per table very cheerful vibe.

Ask the Community - Teppan Steak House

How many people fit around one of the dinner tables?

Around 14-16 people

What is the name of the white sauce?

It is actually called White Sauce

How does BYOB work?

You bring any beer or wine and they charge a glass fee I believe. I always forget to try it. I think it's $.55 a glass. They charged me a fee for ordering a beer from them and then asking for a glass to pour it in.

Honestly? Solid, reliable mid-tier mall sushi in a good way. Nothing mind-blowing or destination-worthy, but crispy where it should be crispy, fish was soft and fresh, not overly salty, and service was friendly and efficient. Shoutout to the rice being properly cooked -- sounds like a low bar, but a lot of places miss that, and it makes a difference. Overall: dependable spot when you want satisfying sushi and happy hour deals without overthinking it. Not extraordinary, but reliably good. Price was very reasonable.

My friends ordered off of the Happy Hour menu and were pleased with the Miso Salmon & Tempura. I ordered off both menus. I ordered the Ika Karrage Twice: both times it was burnt, one would think that after sending it back the first time because it was dark brown & black, that the 2nd time they'd have gotten it right, but they didn't care, nor did our server. I ordered an oyster shooter (better to order two for the price is $2 more) and it didn't arrive until the end of our meal & only after I asked, worse, it may have been a whole oyster, but it was shredded and in 3-4 pieces. The pork belly was excellent, but my drink, didn't arrive until over 1/2 way into our meal... What is wrong with these young people? Seriously if you can't do it correctly, maybe this isn't the job for you. My February rating gave kabuki 5 stars, this time it all fell apart. I'll think twice about coming here again, because from this experience the problem was with the staff.

Feels very contemporary and not like a darker wood ambiance of more traditional Japanese sushi places. This place must generate most of their business from their super packed HH. Once 5pm hit, it got noticeably busier, and by 530pm- fully packed. Sumo is maybe one of the few places that allows takeout of their HH items because they know how crowded they get. That is generous of them. I think their prices are among the most affordable for HH sushi around this area and everything was fresh. I am not picky sushi rolls person, but I would guess their sushi quality is average, made for mass consumption and general public, not for people who really want Japan level top grade sushi/ sashimi. Service: it all depends. Most of the servers are college aged young women. So a lot of them huddle and talk during busy HH time while they constantly scan the busy entrance for new diners. It can take awhile for someone to actually come take your order; we were lucky our server was pretty sweet natured. But in general I don't get the vibe that most of the servers are very focused about their jobs. But with busy HH, warm and friendly service isn't a priority. We're here for the HH deals and fresh affordable sushi. For these points, Sumo delivers. The ambiance: modern and bright, not my first choice. I prefer more low key settings. I think if I came to eat solo, eating at the sushi bar would be a pleasant experience, if I came before 5pm rush.

I know some of my friends enjoy coming here, but I will not be coming again.

I caught a peak of the Chirashi bowl while browsing pictures and knew that was exactly what I wanted. I really hoped I found a good sushi spot this time after 3 failures in Ventura and I was very pleasantly surprised. The Chirashi bowl was delicious! The salmon and the blue fin tuna was the most notable, and the biggest thing that they did well was the vinegar rice. It's hidden underneath all of the sashimi but definitely dig for it (there is more than enough amount) and have a well balanced sushi meal. The only thing I wish they did better was the server took my order and didn't get me water until she came back with my meal 10 minutes later and I had to ask. Then I realized that she might have been the one arranging the sushi at the back? I don't even know but I'll give it a pass. Overall solid spot and I'm sure I'll be back when I have my sushi cravings.
