Came during lunch hours and it was pretty slow. Ordered a lunch combo which included steak and chicken with appetizers such as miso soup and salad. The FOOD: The miso soup was watery and bland. The salad was sad... it just didn't taste good and the dressing could've been better. The steak and chicken (as well as all the other proteins) had the same kind of seasoning, butter, and flavoring liquids. It tasted alright though. Some of my party ordered seafood and the lemon carried over into the chicken so it tasted a little weird. Also - the meals came with three sauces, a white mayo based sauce for seafood, teriyaki with sesame on top, and also a ginger sauce. I found myself using the sauces most of the time as it tasted better than what the chef had prepared. The Teppan EXPERIENCE: The experience really depends on which chef you get. The entire experience is not the food but most of all the chef's show. Ours did the typical onion volcano, onion steam choo-choo train, and the initial fire explosion thingy. Although ours had done the minimum, the table next to us had a better show experience. Overall, the experience here could've been better. The chef you get will dictate your overall experience and the food that they have could be better. I've had other teppan experiences that had both better food and shows. read more

The whole family fun hibachi experience at teppan is gone. My server Alexa didn't do a good job of checking in on us, the busboy helped us out more. Then to charge $1 for sriracha is just really silly including the sushi bar that only serves California rolls. Osabi has my vote for best hibachi in Ventura county. read more

Went for my birthday dinner. Didn't have much of a wait which was good. I've certainly been to better teppanyaki restaurants, with better menu options. Taste was average. Seems like they try and run through as many customers as possible in the shortest time possible. Staff were friendly enough. Atmosphere was below average. Teppanyaki chef seemed more interested in everyone else besides those whom he was cooking for. Seemed very distracted. In town for work and felt like eating teppanyaki. Found this neat little restaurant not too far from my hotel and gave it a shot. They have an awesome early bird special and half price sushi so I tried both. My spicy tuna tempura roll was average (-1 star) but my new York steak and halibut was awesome! Very happy they now cook in front of you. I've been waiting for some time since the Covid outbreak. Your sat and helped right away and they're prompt with cleaning the table immediately after dining for the next group. To keep the timing short, they dont make the fried rice in front of you, as they bring it out like the steamed rice.The only thing that stood out to me was that the bathroom was unclean. Discovered this place when we were in Oxnard. Wasn't sure what to expect but our party of 9 was completely satisfied. The dinner specials before 6pm are fairly priced & they include salad + soup. I enjoyed the halibut & shrimp, our chef was great and the fried rice comes from the kitchen so this place is able to accommodate more guests more quickly. We've eaten here ever since it first arrived, and while it's taken time to recover from the pandemic like most businesses, the quality is still there. Stopped here for dinner now that they are having dine-in. Heads up, you have to order outside before you're seated and they are not cooking the food in front of you at the moment. I ordered the chicken fried rice, which was good as usual, but seemed like it should have been warmer since it was just made. The food is served in to-go containers which was pretty convenient for left-overs. It is definitely not the same experience as usual with the food being cooked in front of you, but is still a fun atmosphere and good eating. Went on a Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday and the place was packed and very loud to the point you couldn't even have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. We had a reservation yet still had to wait where you sit on this wobbly bench in the front of the restaurant. The first thing I noticed after we were seated was they they clean the tables and them wiped down the griddle where they cook the food with the same towel. YUCK!! They cannot possibly be sanitary! If it wasn't for the fact i was there for someone else I would of walked out. Service took forever and then to get served barely warm miso soup that tasted like the rinsed out the dishes in it. I had the ribeye steak dinner which was ok but so thin you could see through it. The chef was disorganized so we basically had meat sit cold on our plate while we waited for the fried rice at the end. Couldn't they serve you everything together so you can eat your meat with your veggies and fried rice? I wouldn't recommend Teppan steak house or be dining there anytime soon. read more

Great Teppan Sushi restaurant with awesome lunch specials. When looking Into teppan for lunch I'm always hunting for a special which I'm happy to say this location has! Two teppan items for under $15 is a great deal especially for all the food you get! I'd highly recommend this location if your starving and wanting a good deal. The food falls somewhere around 3-4 stars with hits and misses! The overall proteins are fabulous, great chicken, steak, and shrimp. Also the sushi bar looks a little dicey but I did order a rainbow roll once and it was great so I think it just depends on what you order. Their fried rice falls into that three star mix, not that great, decent but I've had better. Same with the miso soup, not very appetizing despite miso soup being something I'm normally looking forward to. Lastly the other miss would be the sauces, not as flavorful as other places. I'd say they are good for the overall meal but not 5 stars because of these misses. Staff pros: I appreciate that if they are having a slow day they'll literally give you a whole teppan table for yourself instead of making you wait for the whole table of 8-10 to be filled. To me this is great customer service! Also the chefs are fantastic, quick and friendly! Came here with some friends last night for a birthday party. My friend had told us to arrive at 7 because she had booked a reservation and when we all got there the lady at the front counter stated we wouldn't be seated until 7:30. This was kinda annoying but we all had brought cases of beer and were passing a few around. ( yes you can bring your own beer and wine without a corking fee but they will charge $.50 if you use one of their glasses) Once at our table it took another 15 minutes for a waitress to come around and ask us our drink orders. Most of my friends brought their own alcohol but I wasn't drinking so I ordered one of those Ramune drinks. They are served chilled. Another half an hour went by and we hadn't placed orders or had a chief come to our table. This was my first time coming here to I wasn't sure what was gonna happen. Finally our waitress came back and took our order. I ordered the filet minon and chicken plate. Which me and a friend calculated btw it's a dollor cheaper if you order a plane plate and ice cream separate rather than to buy the $33 meal. But to each there own a dollar saved is a mini victory to me . The chef finally came out and began preparing our food which was pritty cool. He was super friendly and made it a good time even throwing egg into peoples mouths to see if they could catch it. On to the food tho. My steak was perfectly cooked and was the best steak I've consumed in my young life. Everyone else at my table appeared to be super happy with their order as well. The only downfall of my night is that I learned I had a severe allergy to shellfish and came home with a swollen throat and puffy eyes and felt as if I couldn't breath. Now this isn't really the restaurants fault because I didn't know I had such a severe reaction to shellfish but it definitely but a damper on my night since I paid $80 for a meal that almost killed me. I personally won't be returning but I think if you don't have a seafood allergy and really want a good meal and don't mind spending a bit this place is a good treat. read more

Came here for a nice dinner with a group of friends after a wedding ceremony. The staff was really nice and worked fast. The food tasted the same as every other teppan place but it was still good. I bring my 4 month old everywhere with me and I don't like to put the car seat he's in On the floor. I chose not to bring my stroller in because I figured it'll be tight in there. I was pleasantly surprised that the dining area was really spacious and doesn't feel crowded. I could've easily fit my stroller in the restaurant and not be in anyone's way. The best part is that they had a sling/swing that you can place a car seat on instead of having to put him on a chair and risk falling (I included a picture with this review) I thought it was the coolest thing ever!!! Lol I think I need to get out more I like the atmosphere a lot better than Osabi. This will probably be my new go to Teppan place. read more
