I was craving Teppan but didn't feel like doing "sit down" in a restaurant. After a quick Google search I found Takumi Teppanyaki. Food is amazingly fresh and delicious. We picked up at their Esplanade Dr. location in Oxnard, staff were very friendly and our order was ready fairly quickly. We also ordered delivery from their 5th St. location and the food was still hot when it arrived (we are in Ventura). You get lots of food and each item we've tried is delicious. The fried rice was the only good thing about this plate. The New York strip steak was more than well done. The chicken was super dry, like it was reheated instead of cooked. I heard good things about this place but unfortunately it was a miss and NOT worth $30. Also the 34 minute wait wasn't great. read more

Started coming here in 2022 and I've recently noticed is decline in the food flavor. I had just had the fried rice, chicken and shrimp and the plate had no flavor. My chicken was dry and the rice tasted nothing like "fried rice". For a $18 plate this is not okay. I think I will opt for fast food over a specialty food truck. read more

Very very flavorful, but it isn't cheap. Note- bring cash. If not, debit prices are 10% higher. I ordered a samurai combo, shrimp & scallops. It was good! 1/3 of the plate is veggies. It's about $2 more to get it fried rice. They are a cheap on the sauces. 1 white sauce, 1 brown sauce per order. The sauces are very good, especially the white. Next time I will ask for more. With 2 Samurai combos, both with fried rice $52. Cash. Expensive, for a lunch truck. But, it tasted good! read more

A rolling hibachi restaurant heck yes!! Considering the lines and waits at a typical restaurant the fact that you can get fresh made grub in 30-40 mins fresh hot and with all the flavors you crave now that's a deal! Takumi was set up at an recent event and we went with the teriyaki beef with the fried rice the wait longer then all the trucks on site but not every site was making a complete fresh meal 100% at order! One of the best teppanyaki in Ventura County!! I stumbled upon this hidden gem teppanyaki food truck on Yelp and I am so glad I did! The prices are reasonable and you really do get your bucks worth of food. So fresh and delicious I really said "wow" out loud as I was devouring this plate. This food truck is really a must try if you're craving some teppanyaki. The filet wasn't stringy, fatty or chewy. I got it medium well and it was still very juicy and tender. :) I will definitely be back for some more. read more

We have eaten here twice, both times food was cooked perfectly. Filet mignon cooked as requested and the seafood is cooked the way it should be..NOT OVERCOOKED like most restaurants do. Absolutely one of the best food trucks in Oxnard. If you want Hibachi for the night but don't want to go to hibachi this is such an affordable alternative and tastes just like it. My family and I just tried this for the first time the other night and WOW it was amazing! We have tried a couple of teppan grills around the area and they just did not compare to Takumi Teppanyaki! We got the filet and shrimp and filet and chicken both with fried rice and veggies and it was so good! All of the sauces that came with it were perfect as well. This is my favorite dinner that I've had in the Oxnard area by far. My family and I are used to getting Wabi Sabi or Benihana for teppan style food but unfortunately we don't have either of those out here in Ventura county. However, now that we have found this place, we will not be missing those spots as much. We will most definitely be back soon! read more
