Both for takeout and dine in they don't miss even if they are 20 orders in from getting your food out. The presentation is always well portioned and clean even with all the sauce. Definitely recommend the hot level for the food because it has a good flavor with a very small amount of spice.

Loaded fries. We split one and could not finish all the mac and the fries.

I don't know - more like 3.5. We split loaded fries with mac'n'cheese, fries, slaw, topped with diced chicken. We thought the chicken (medium spice) was pretty good, but there too much sauce over everything. Slaw was good, fries and mac good also. But not temperature hot. I noticed everything was already prepared and sitting in/under warmers when we got there just past 12:00 opening. I'd go back, but next time just get the strips and 1 side, separate. Hold the extra sauce, please. One big plus? Take it over the beer place (I call it a beer garden but it's not). Good variety of ice cold drafts.

Gordo Fries (no coleslaw from food truck)

Honestly, the food trucks service and food is really good. The portions are amazing and the food is always warm and seasoned to perfection. Unfortunately I decided to try the Annex location at The Collection and it was awful. The staff wasn't the best and neither were the cooks. My food was cold when it came out, mind you it took like 5 mins to get my food out which could only mean that they just have the food laying out there unlike the food trucks which cook it fresh. The portions were also mediocre. It was half empty with a couple scraps of chicken. They should hire people who actually care about the customers and respect the food they're preparing. If you want the real experience I highly recommend to go to one of the food trucks where the guys actually take care of you and have your order ready and to perfection!!

I dined at the new location at the Collections - The Annex - in Oxnard. The fried Pickles were too salty! The Mac-n-Cheese reminded me of a regular pasta dish that had too much oregano in the cheese. Too much cream that lacked the cheese flavor. The chicken sandwich was disappointing because I think I bit more into the batter that lacked the actual chicken. The only thing I liked was the dipping sauce. In my opinion, I prefer Dave's Hot Chicken over Gordos anytime!

Heard a lot about this place & they finally opened a location at the collection so decided to try some items from their menu. Food came out pretty quick. I ordered the mac n cheese & fried pickles. Mac n cheese was okay looks better in pictures, noodles were cooked a little too much so it was a little soggy. Super sad about the fried pickles, not sure if they're supposed to be this crunchy but it was basically a batter chip and oil. Maybe i'll give it another try, their chicken or something they're known well for.

This place has to be probably the best hot chicken in Ventura county and the best part? It's on wheels I frequent Gordos when I'm in the mood for chicken and all I can say is this place never misses. Their chicken is always juicy and seasoned just right. Their sandwiches are crafted perfectly with a twist by using kings Hawaiian roll instead of a regular Brioche bun like traditional hot chicken. The sweet and savory, spicy mess creates a flavor bomb in your mouth. Paired with a cajun seasoned Mac and cheese and saucy slaw it's really unbeaten for a great price. The service is always top notch and simple with an easy to read menu. My only issue is they're at the very end of channel island blvd, (I wish it was a little closer to the river park area) so just be ready for a drive. But it is hands down the best hot chicken this side of the county!

Update: I haven't gone back yet but the owner reached out in such a professional and amazing manner that I had to up them one star. They apologized for having someone new at the register that night and invited me back to try again. I don't live close enough to go asap but I'm definitely willing to give them another shot. Sounds like they made a lot of changes in the past year.

The coleslaw was amazing! I wish they would add more of it. The mac definitely had more of Italian pasta style, not your average Mac and cheese. Concerning the sandwich it was a bit cold. The taste was average, it wasn't anything I haven't had before. This place is good but I don't believe I'd return again. The parking situation is pretty convenient.

This is definitely one of my favorite foods spots in Oxnard!!! The chicken is juicy, the Mac and cheese is also very good and all the workers are very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend if you're in the area :) the vibe of the place is very hip and trendy yet warm and homie i love the ambiance, I've been to all the food trucks but the collection is nice aswell

This is a review for their new annex location in the collection in Oxnard it was my first time trying gordos I was really excited and was not disappointed they were quite busy but surprisingly we got our food fast the chicken was cooked perfectly their coleslaw was delicious with the right hint of sweetness very unique the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because I feel like chicken needed a bit more spicy to it and even tho the Mac and cheese was amazing in flavor the texture was a bit too mushy for my liking but I will definitely be back !

For a food hall experience I expected a little bit more, experience was on par with a food truck meal. Sandwiches are serviced on Hawaiian rolls which don't hold up well to the weight and moisture of the chicken and all of the toppings. This makes the sandwiches harder to eat than they should be. The highlight was the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and the breading was consistent. Flavor however was lacking a bit, not talking just heat, but flavor. Sides wise the fries were decent, I'd skip the Mac and Cheese as the pasta was mushy and the sauce lacked flavor. Decent spot in a pinch, but there's better spots for hot chicken IMO. Staff was busy so hard to give an opinion, I ordered from a kiosk, which is always a bit of a let down. read more

Fast and great service. Ordered ahead after some Halloween shopping at Michaels. Food was ready 5 min early and was very warm. Some seating is available outside. Service is good, ambiance is good, food is good. The problem is the menu. Mac and cheese is not something that everybody wants to eat, sometimes they need be flexible to substitute it to another item. Actually I did ask the girl if I can have a fries instead of MAC , she said yes in that case you will have 2 fries. I asked her if she can only give me one she said no. Went to the new location in the Annex. I've never had Gordos before and after reading many comments when they announced they would be replacing the old chicken place I knew we had to try it. I'm giving 2 stars because service was VERY quick or else it would have definitely been 1 star. We received our food within minutes of ordering. Mine was incorrect so we asked for a new one, but no one asked what spice level I had ordered was. When I sat back down my husband who ordered the hottest said his had absolutely no spice. Took a bite of mine also very plain no spicy. Bummed right there tried dipping into the sauce, and it was all just so sweet. The sauce was sweet, then the chicken is on Hawaiian sweet bread which adds to the sweetness and then a sweet pineapple slaw. We also tried 3 sides. Fries, fried pickers and mac n cheese. Fries were under cooked and had no seasoning. Fried pickles were actually cooked perfectly and tasted good, Mac n cheese was HUGE let down. Just all around disappointed. We didn't even finish we packed up the food and decided to go eat dinner elsewhere. read more

Where do I begin I was hyped to try this place, I have been talking about this place for a while and I finally had the chance from all the hype on instagram to try it. After finally getting this for dinner. I was extremely disappointed like bad. I ordered a side of fries well done, they were soggy And tbh the fries were kinda undercooked .Then I got the Combo #1 and wow super soggy not even warm what's so ever. The buns were extremely burnt and cold I had to pick some of the burnt parts off to enjoy it , The Mac and cheese was cold. I paid for extra ranch and extra sauce didn't get it. I legit had no dipping sauce for none of my meal. I heard they give you honey for the sliders , didn't get that either. This place really was disappointing. I would love to give it another try but tbh don't think I will nor will I recommend this place to anyone. For a side of fries and combo #1 and the extra sauces that I didn't get I paid $26. Complete waste. Ended up eating cereal. read more

My son has been dying to try and we checked out the shop in the Annex. He ordered a 3 pc. With fried pickles ( extra $3) and fries. We were the only customers at noon on a Wednesday. We ordered through the kiosk because the worker was in her phone & didn't offer to help us. The fries were soggy & cold, the tiny portion of fried pickles were overpriced, lukewarm and not crunchy. The chicken was well seasoned,but also cold. It appeared nothing was made fresh to order and the food had been sitting in buffet trays . We paid $20. For a lukewarm lunch with zero crunch in the chicken, fries, or fried pickles. there are better places to dine in the Annex. Do not recommend. read more

After so many attempts trying to get here we finally did lol we've been meaning to come to this location for half a year , and something always came up, but finally we stopped by. Gordos hot chicken is located in a lunch truck next to the street. I have to say this is an amazing platter that I was served. The coleslaw they had is to die for pineapple makes it everything. The gordo fries! OMG !!!! It's like I died and woke up in fry heaven. HUGE portion packed with crinkle cut fries, their famous fried chicken (SO GOOD), pineapple coleslaw, and pickles to balance all the flavors. Great service everytime, they have a pager system for convenience so you don't need to stand in front of the truck the whole time, you can wait comfortably in your car. Give them a try!! read more

This truck not only has personable, friendly staff that give genuinely amazing customer service, but generosity of spirit and food of epic proportion behind it. I cannot recommend this spot enough after my first visit. They are not only worth every penny, but they are more than worth the wait and drive just to get a deliciously hot box full of scratch cooked food! I highly recommend the Gordo fries and sliders! Gordos Offers the best hot chicken! They're local and they offer the best costumer service. My go to combo is the 3 Finger Combo and since that isn't enough for me I add an extra tender to make it a 4 Finger. The price is amazing 21$ not shabby at all for 4 Large Tenders and my sides of choice which would be the Fries and the Coleslaw. Don't get me wrong the Mac n Cheese is Bomb, But the Pineapple Colesalw is where it's at. I recommend this Hot Chicken food truck to all the people. Well once I got home i discovered there was no lemons it all with my order. I need lemon with my food so this caused for me to now have to make another run out after getting home. This service was very dissappointing. If they could at least be honest and tell me there is none would be much more appreciated than being lied too. The burrito was ok. My wife added the sautéed onions and green salsa to her plain tacos and it gave her that crunch that she was looking for to round out her meal. The best thing that I ate was the caramelo. It is must try if you like cheese. Staff was very friendly and they offered consommé for free with your food. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely delicious frappe, and the assortment of sweet pastries was incredible. Chia pudding had a lovely blueberry compote at the bottom, and gave me that boost of midafternoon energy. Dinner that weekend was quiet with a couple other tables occupied. The wall showcasing the generations of Otani's in Oxnard was a good read while we waited for our order. A large white board was the menu. Lots of options to pick from. However with the variety we ordered the food was just ok with the grilled snapper and fries being the stand outs. The fried fish seemed a bit too oily, the tempura batter too thick on the vegetables and the clam chowder needed more flavor. Given the years in business, I was hoping for more from the food.

Always hear great things about this place so I was surprised to see the reviews they had on here. It's apparent they've evolved and talking with Christian the cashier, the kids started the food truck on their own when they were 22 during Covid! Let me repeat that they were 22 when they started Gordos! I got there around 6pm and it was very busy, but Christian still gave me his full attention and was super helpful guiding me through the menu. I ended up getting the Gordos fries hot/regular and 2 chicken tender combos for my fiancé and her friend. The ambience was a fun vibe they have string lights set up through out the walls so even though it's a very dark area, the vibe of the place was excellent. Like mentioned earlier, even though it was busy, the wait time was maybe 15 - 20 minutes, which compared to other food trucks (and even chicken spots) it was lighting fast. We got our food and the gentleman (I believe he was Eddie) handing out the orders recommended I try it with honey, and extra Gordos sauce and threw them in the bag free of charge. Let me tell you, the reason why I'm leaving this review is because the flavor their food carries is so unique and delicious we HAD to let it be known! The Mac and cheese is packed with flavor, every bite is a party in your mouth, the chicken is crispy and juicy, and the Gordos sauce is delicious, think of a chikfila sauce just a bit spicier and way fresher. If you're reading this get the Gordos Fries and you won't be disappointed, but the chicken tenders were astounding too, they drizzle sauce on them and no extra cost and paired with the Hawaiian bread is a great choice as well. Will be making the drive often to Oxnard just for Gordos. read more

Besides being the first hot chicken joint in the city of Oxnard Gordos hot chicken is very delicious and mouth watering gives other big names in the hot chicken game a run for there money everything is made fresh to order and made to perfection from mild to hot every seasoning is on point from the coleslaw to the Mac n cheese you could taste the quality of the food, I would most definitely recommend it for the ppl that haven't tried it! 10/10 every time !!!! when I'm in the mood for a good chicken sandwich GHC is the place to be !!! read more

I love Gordos Hot chicken!! This place is delicious and so tasty and so filling. The prices are perfect for what you get, you get a huge quantity of food in one plate, super filling all for the price of $16. I prefer this way more than chicfila, Wingstop, and canes which are over priced and get you somewhat full. But Gordos, it's a whole nother level of taste, and filling. Service was amazing as well ,, the young man behind the register is always super friendly and always smiling and makes sure your order is done correctly. Gordos Hot Chicken is the spot! The food and customer service is great. The cashier(Christian) is always spot on when taking orders. Food is always ready when I call for a pick up order. My personal favorite dish is the Gordo fries,the bed of fries are perfectly seasoned and the mac is always bussin, the coleslaw with the chicken mixes great, to top it off Gordo sauce!
