Staff here is amazing and super friendly. We have Waba about 1x every 2 weeks. My kids have martial arts across the parking lot from them so the convenience we can't beat! Food is delicious and the location is always clean. read more

First off, all you people who say Waba Grill is nasty or bad service, you're just a cranky pants. Waba Grill is my go to place when I'm hungry. I always get a WaBa bowl with no veggies with white rice, and a side of 10 piece dumplings. It's always amazing. One of the screen does glitch but other than that the interior looks pretty good. It had its own design something not a lot of restaurants/food areas have. The staff is always really nice and friendly, and if you're a student sometimes you can get a discount. Alright I've been here enough time to write an accurate review. It seems that it depends on what time of day you go here. Reason being is that it is next to a high school. And if you go during lunch time during when the kids have lunch? all bets are off. It's loud and obnoxious. And if you go during when it ISN'T lunch time for the high school nearby... well then you're good to go! At this point I always just get my food to go anyways since I don't want to deal with that. I've had mostly everything on the menu here. The potstickers are awesome. And well priced. If you like potstickers I'd recommend checking them out. I usually go with the salmon plate and add avocado. The salmon is usually not overcooked at all. But the last 1-2 times it has been. Extremely overcooked like a rock. The other times it's been great though. Seasoned well. Rice is made correctly. Put some extra waba sauce and mix that rice up and you're good to go! Is this a 4 or 5 star place? no. Food is just average. But it's nice to have a different style of food options around the area. Since there really isn't any large range of options. Would I recommend going here? sure if you want a really quick fast food rice bowl or salmon? go for it. You probably wont be disappointed. This Waba Grill is located on Rose & South Oxnard Blvd, in the Walgreens shopping Center & across the street from the Jack In The Box. I Had a good 1st experience here. It was not busy on a Tuesday night. The cashier lady was polite & informed me of how the rewards works. I Just punched in my phone number & she said I get a discount on my next visit. I've tried a different Waba Grill location before. & it was pretty good. My son really likes the food here so I'm sure we'll be coming back. He loves the Waba Bowl (steak & chicken on top of rice). You can also substitute brown rice or veggies instead of the white rice (extra fee). Since it's near Channel Islands High School & otw to the 1 Fwy, a I think it will have good business here. Food is decent for a rush meal, when you order online they ask if you would like sauces every time I order online, they do not put any sauces in the bag, and when you ask for it, they get pissed. Rice is a very cheap side dish, I don't understand why they're so stingy with it, they give you the least possible of both the rice and the meat. Like the taste of the sauces that makes the meal decent, but the lack of appreciation from the owners are what I hate... No thank you, no smile, just pay me and get out of here attitude! read more

For some reason they are not the same as there other locations in Oxnard and Ventura. They chop the beef and chicken really fine so the portions are much smaller but appear the same because it's spread across to the naked eye. Majority of my chicken was even shredded which I've never experienced at a Waba Grill before. Other locations have much nicer and juicer cuts of meats at the same price. Not a cool way to cut corners when you're replacing protein portions for rice carbs and people are coming here for healthier life options. They didn't charge me to substitute with brown rice which I thought was awesome because other locations have in the past. Just remember to ask for it because they don't ask which when ordering and will assume you want white rice. Aside from that I will say that the staff was nice enough and the food was fast but that's it. Nothing special. read more

I could of given 5 stars but today 10-12-20 at 6:10pm made me do a review. The 3 stars are for the food. Its that dam delicious and freshly made. The minus 2 stars is for the wait time. Its not the first that I've had to wait for my food for more 45 minutes. My recommendation is to order your food online and then pick it. Cause placing the order at the Rose Ave store sucks. Service was amazing, everyone is nice and warm. So far the chicken is my favorite. It's so moist and flavourful... Mmm... I'm full from eating but want more. The steak is nice and healthy. I am personally a steak snob but I'd get their steak again. It's cooked well and the teriyaki takes it home. And the rice was cooked perfectly! But- very bland, not a lot of flavor. And the extra you pay for veggies only gives you two pieces of broccoli, some carrots, and a hunk of cabbage. Waba Grill would possibly be on the same level as Subway for me. The reason for this, is that the food is fast, stated to be healthy, and within decent price range. Going into this establishment, the walkway towards the counter feels a little narrow, and it was very saddening they only had one cashier on while they had a line practically almost out the door. Tables were clean, and the chairs were properly in place. However, I felt that it lacked something in it's atmosphere. I was able to order the salmon salad, which was done pretty well, the kale and romaine were crisp, and the salmon had decent flavor. However, it wasn't something good enough to give me the 'wow this is yummy!' factor. I will say that it would probably be a good place to go for a really cheap date, or when you want something similar to subway except Asian fusion style. read more

I went in on opening day and it was packed. I have gone back twice since then and it has been pretty dead. On opening day They had the get a free chicken bowl for grand opening thing going but they stopped it because too many people showed up they said lol customer service has been good. The guy from taco de Mexico works there so you l ow the food is made with love ^_^! Their tofu is great and veggies are delicious. I like their waba sauce but I don't love it. It's very sweet. Their hot sauce is good though. The rice is just plain white or brown rice made in a rice cooker. They are trying to cater for those looking to eat "healthy" which I think it's great since they are right next to my gym lol the place is nice and clean. With plenty of tables. Good tasting food! (If you don't like teriyaki though you might not like it) I ordered the waba bowl which come with chicken and steak. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not five was because of the portions of meat as compared to the rice that they give you. Terrible. The steak was warm and cold in a few places. The chicken was dry and a piece of it was dried out like jerky. The rice had hard pieces in it. The ONLY reason I didn't give it one star was because of the polite customer service. The chef in the back only uses one glove while preparing the bowls like all the other WaBa grills but I saw him walk up and grab forks by the end customers put in their mouths with his bare hand. The employee refilling the cups with soda wasn't wearing any gloves and had soda dripping off the rim and was placing the same lid and straws back on with his bare hands, yuck! It's crazy how these things go unnoticed. This place does stay busy. I bought a bottled drink and made sure my fork wasn't handled in a disgusting way. At least from what I saw. The WaBa grill down the street is a lot better than this. I won't be back to this location. I paid a little over 10 bucks to know this place sucks and not ever come back. Oh well. Stopped by this waba grill to check it out and was surprisingly disappointed. First of all they were advertising "Free chicken Waba Bowl" because it's opening day. But they ran out of "Free chicken" and therefore your coupon was invalid. I still placed an order because I've eaten at Waba Grill and know what to expect. Asked how long the wait will be and the cashier didn't have a clue. Waited 24 minutes to finally get my to go order. But when I arrived home I saw both bowls were incorrect. I ordered one white meat chicken no Sauce and one chicken bowl with sauce. Both bowls had steak and they both didn't have teriyaki sauce. This place is great! I'm so glad theyre in S. Oxnard! Straight forward menu, friendly and quick customer service, clean facility and of course the food was super delish (I favored their chicken signature plate!). The flavors were not over or underwhelming but just right! Very flavorful and the chicken I had was cooked perfectly (other places overcook chicken and it leaves it super dry). Came with a small kale side salad which I definitely will order the full size next time. The dressing was light and not watery or oily. Nornally I do not like kale but this was super yummy! I also got a nice sized portion of an orange. They kept this platter light! The portion sizes are just right, I.M.O. Doesn't leave you hungry and doesn't leave you in a comatose either! My experience here was horrible. The cashier didn't know how to void a transaction and after that her and the what seemed to be the supervisor were talking bad about me in Spanish and laughing at me. This was the worst customer service I have ever received. They also didn't tell me what the voiding process, and for all I know is they charged me for something I asked them to cancel.
