Grabbed a burger for lunch. Able to be served quickly and hot down without hassle. The staff was friendly and attentive answered all questions about the menu and made appropriate recommendations. I had a hickory burger which had French fried onion, bacon, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce. Paired it with French fries. Burger had a perfect medium cook on it and the fries were hot and crispy. I've been back a few times and this place is still 5 stars! The burgers are consistently good and the fries are freshly cut. Both the regular and sweet potato fries are simply excellent, never greasy or over-seasoned. Their app sucks (2.0 out of 5 stars on the Google Play store so it isn't just me). AMAZING and very affordable for Cali! Arrived after several days at Channel lslands NP, and wanted a meal before crashing at the hotel. Saw this option with burgers and brew on the way. It is located in a strip mall parking lot with other restaurants and shops. You order at the front, with lots of wall menus or hand menus. Then seat yourself. We had the Hook Burger and a Caprese chicken, added on some Sweet Potato fries. Limited but sufficient wine menu, about 6to 8 taps, but two were dry. Staff were friendly and checked us often. Delicious!! This isn't a gourmet burger place but boy does it make tasty burgers. I got here around 6:30pm on a Monday and there was abundance of seats. You order upfront and they give you a number where they bring out the burger to you afterwards. I got the Hickory Burger because I love BBQ on my burgers and added an extra patty for $3.75. I splurged and got onion rings after hearing good things about it. They asked if I wanted to try their other sauce and I think I should've actually asked for even more BBQ sauce. The burger was delicious and I think with the onion rings, I probably didn't even need the double patty. The onion rings were indeed tasty but quite small portions for its price of $5.50. I finally had Hook Burger again after several years. I ordered the Hickory Burger, Maui Burger, and The Trip (potato & sweet potato fries) with onion rings, all to-go so I could eat at home. Extra ranch and BBQ sauce were an additional 50 cents each. It's never as good as eating it fresh in the restaurant, but it was still delicious and satisfying after a long time. My rating: 4/5. We found this place while desperately searching for a place to eat at. It was Christmas Eve so it wasn't busy at all. Customer service was great we were greeted right away and offered to sit and look over the menu since we were first timers. We really like our sandwich and burgers everything was delicious. We also ordered a trio fries and onion rings shareable I would recommend that you provide at least 2 ranch containers with the trio as it only came with one half filled cup and when we asked for another they said it would be an extra charge. This is at least the fifth different Hook Burger that I've been to. Every time I go, I always say that it's the best burger ever and this Oxnard location did not disappoint. The double burger with cheese is huge and just absolutely delicious. The fries are great, too. Service is excellent - you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. First time eating here after looking for a good place to eat on a Friday night. The Yelp photos convinced me I needed to try this place. My friend and I came and ordered 2 California Burgers, 2 pomegranate lemonades, 1 regular fries and 1 sweet potato fries. Total cost was just under $39. My friend got her California burger with Romaine and a few bites into my burger that has arugula as the standard greens, I think she made a good choice and next visit I would also swap romaine for the arugula. I don't feel Arugula did this burger justice. The burger itself was fantastic. It was juicy and filling. The sweet potato fries were hitting the spot. I decided to not have the sugar on them. I just wanted plain sweet potato fries. After we sat down, someone served us our order to the table ( even though they gave us a table buzzer) and even got us ranch and banana peppers. Just before we were about to leave, the same staff asked us if we wanted refills on our drinks. Of course we said "yes!" And I was pleased to know that lemonades were free refills. Overall this place reminds me of Brook's Burger in Pismo. The food seems like a good value and good quality. The staff were friendly and went beyond doing basic customer service. Who doesn't love a good burger! I was feeling that same thought, and hadn't had HOOK in a long while. I got me a sandwich instead of the burger for some reason and to my delight it was just as good if not better than the burgers. The cashier was awesome and brought out our food. The place was open and clean. I love the large booths, just in case you bring a friend or 2 or 4. The small bar was my favorite, and they had TV's with some sports on. Ever heard of Habit Burger? Well this lovely burger chain is from the creators of said Habit Burger with an upscale twist. First started in Oxnard, CA, they now have several restaurants in the Ventura and Burbank area. Compared to it's sister brand, I do think the restaurant and food are more upscale, but with a sticker price to match. The restaurant is located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking, but it can get busy. The restaurant itself is modern and clean with plenty of seating, service is friendly, and the food came out promptly. The fries are your classic shoe string fries, which were crispy and not too oily. The burgers are your standard 4oz patties which were cooked and seasoned well. I had a classic Hook Burger my first visit and tried the Hickory Burger for take out at another visit. Both were good burgers. They were Juicy, medium well done, and had a decent char. If I had to compare them to another brand, I would say they remind me of a slightly better Five Guys, not an insult mind you. They have a good variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads, shakes, and fries. Price is comparable to other chains in the "upscale fast food burger" category but is by no means affordable, like In-N-Out. Their burgers are around 7 to 8 bucks, but making it a double is only 1.50 more. My double burger alone cost me 9.75 before tax. Compared to something like Shake Shack where a single is around 7, making it a double bumps it up to almost 10 bucks for a tiny double burger. Overall, if I was looking for a slightly upscale burger and I didn't want to go to a restaurant, I would definitely consider Hook Burger, but if I just wanted a quick tasty, cheap, burger, In-N-Out is still my go to. read more
