Great burgers here - a step up from the usual fare - I felt like we were in a restaurant not a fast food joint. Even tho the prices were on the low side the flavor combinations were tip top! - I got the California Burger - Caramelized onion, avocado, arugula, tomato, house made Dijon mayo (it comes with cheese but I ordered mine without). First and foremost, the food is very good. We had a Mushroom Burger, a double California Burger, a Hook Burger, a Sirloin Steak Sandwich, plus fries and onion rings. All excellent, although it would be better if the steak could be rare like in the picture. The avocado part was great (it isn't always great everywhere!) and the onion rings were especially good. On the negative side, one of the sandwiches didn't include all the "fixin's" described. But the most difficult thing is that their website is bonkers. You may well have items missing on the menu depending how you go in and what device you use. And there are other glitches - when at 6:15 I set the pick-up time as 7pm why does it still say the food will be ready in 15 minutes? And when I am in the steak sandwich and ask for nutritional info, why does it tell me 5 other sandwiched INSTEAD, including, I think, Ahi Tuna, which isn't even on their menu? I'm sure you'll find other fun inconsistencies on your own. But the service is friendly and excellent as is the communication, and, again, the food is excellent. read more

I absolutely love all of their food, and the service is fantastic as soon as I walk in. There's always someone to open the door. They really treat their customers very well and appreciate having customers. It's spotless and welcoming, and all the employees seem to enjoy what they're doing. There are many items on the menu. Everything always seems to be very fresh and delicious. So far, there has not been anything quite like this place. I really enjoy it and highly recommend it. I ate my food so fast that I forgot to take pictures, but next time I will. My favorite is, of course the Hook burger. read more

Honestly I prefer hook burger over shake shack. I'm a vegetarian and I recently tried a vegetarian burger at shake shack and was not impressed, didn't even finish the whole thing because I was disappointed. The vegetarian burger here is so good! This was my first time at Hook Burger. I love a good burger spot, so this was definitely my jam! Location: in a shopping center with plenty of options, but this sits right at the corner, with great signage! They also have 3 curbside spots for curbside pickup. Which reminds me.. they have an app that is helpful to pre-order food or order to pick up! We only went inside to order, but they had a ton of tables of different kinds! We ended up eating in their back patio bc we had our pup with us. The chairs and tables were very nice, clean, modern and organized! There was plenty of shade and a few umbrellas too. Service: the service was great! The cashier was so friendly and helpful, and made everything very clear from the start. I asked for a cup for water, and she gave me a pre-filled cup with lid with water, and even offered us one for our pup (sans ice). So thoughtful! We got our number to take to our table, and then someone quickly brought our food, and already had ranch and thousand island in hand (before even asking!) they came back a second time with a napkin container for us. When we were about to leave, someone came to ask if they could take our plates, and they cleared our table. So it's a spot where they dispose of your stuff, you don't have to take it to a trash can. In fact.. I didn't see any trash cans outside! So it makes more sense. Food: the good stuff!!!! We got 2 burger and fries and split it between 2, so we had more taste options! We got the hickory burger, which was delicious!!!! The barbecue sauce added great flavor and the bacon on it was so so good!!!! The bun was also very soft and Fresh too! I'd definitely get that again. The California burger had a huge portion of guacamole on it, but it was not as delicious as the hickory one. This burger had arugula and an even softer bun!!! Most definitely recommend as well!! The fries were both great portions and so fresh!! The sweet potato fries had a little bit of brown sugar on top, which gave them a nice texture too, and you could taste the potato, not like other places where you could just taste the fried part. Never heard of this place prior to coming, but saw it was jamming with activity. I asked someone coming out if the food was good, to which I got a reply of "hell yeah!" I was sold. Greeted quickly and friendly. I couldn't decided between the Bistro Club (Char-grilled chicken breast, crisp bacon, melted cheddar, avocado, green leaf, tomato, honey dijon, mayo, grilled sourdough) OR the Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich (Herb-crusted chicken breast, melted pepper jack, house made slaw, chipotle mayo, on a toasted brioche bun). I'm not much of a slaw guy. Either it's too much vinegar or too much mayo. The girl that helped me said she too doesn't like slaw, but this slaw was money. I ordered the Spicy Crispy Chicken sandwich, fries and a beer. They won't give you the beer at the counter, they have to bring it to you. When my beer was brought to me, it was cold, but not that level of cold you want out of a beer. The server asked if I wanted a lime for my beer. Absolutely. Back she came with two limes, each equally big. It was like squeezing a square into circle trying to get either lime in my beer. I quickly forgot about that incident when the food arrived. This sandwich was money for sure. The fries was good too. Not steak fries, but close with a bit of salt on them. This place was so good I came back the next day. I called to place an order to which I was told they weren't taking any orders currently as they were backed up. Bummer. I've never been rejected by a business before trying to give them service. They did mention they are only taking walk-in orders, which does contradict the statement they weren't taking any more orders. Luckily I was on my way there so I walked in to place an order. Sadly the same sandwich I wanted, they didn't have the bread for it. Bummer. The sandwich was good, but not like the day before's sandwich. Amazing how bread can change the taste and experience. I have never tried anything I dislike. My go to is the Cobb salad because not only is it wonderful in size, but it is packed with protein and the chicken tastes like it's been grilled on a barbecue grill. The perfectly charred flavor is difficult to find at any other place locally. This place is quite popular during lunch hour, but there is a good amount of seating indoors and outdoors. Looking for a quick lunch as I was going from north oxnard to south oxnard. Came in during the lunch rush, and man does this place get packed. People everywhere, line was at least 10 people deep, they had to go orders all lined up on the counter top, must have been at least 10 to go orders waiting for pick up. Lots of areas to sit at. You have the outdoor area, the main dining room area, and even a small booth area on the side. And good thing they had so much seating area, because the majority of the seats were taken!! Part of the backup was the cashier seemed new. He had to keep asking other people for helping working the register. I ordered their hook burger, evidently cheese on the burger is extra. Didnt know it would be extra, or I wouldn't have ordered cheese then.... Food was out in about 10 minutes. I had my burger with a side of sweet potato fries as well as a regular rootbeer. Total bill came out to $15.79!!! The burger was big, and the patty was tender, moist and juicy. Continually dripped juice as I was holding the burger. Unfortunately the juice dripping off did not translate to taste. It was good, but not 5 star good. Sweet potato fries tasted good. Nice crunch, tender and flaky inside. Pretty good. There was a thing of sauce. Didnt know what it was for... thought it was for the fries, but it was on the spicier end of things, so it definitely wasen't for the fries.
