We have only come here 3 times in the last few years but it's actually a very worthy restaurant for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, but we always love to sit outside so that we have a really good view of the aircraft coming and going. I tried the BLT and, oh my!!! One of the best I've had, with lots of thick cut bacon, very crisp, lots of lettuce, tomato and mayo (I ordered it as-is). Half was the size of a regular sandwich so the other half went home with me! RRR ordered the triple decker club on sourdough and loved his as well. Half of his went home also. We both got the cole slaw as our side which has a little pineapple in it. Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular they are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past. read more

He did warn us that it may be an hour wait to be seated, which we didn't mind. We had gone a Sunday after the 10AM mass and found parking once we got into the lot. There was additional parking in the lot across the way as well. The guys got in line, which was a little bit past the gate leading to a little area where parents with kids were hanging out. The area was close to where people had parked their private planes and it was cool seeing the cool seeing the different aircrafts come in and out from the airport as we entertained by friend's daughter. We went back to the guys once we realized that we couldn't see the guys anymore and since our other friend would be arriving soon to join us. The wait wasn't bad since we had good conversations and catching up to do as we got to the front. They had given water to people in line and menus to look at. Once we got inside, we placed our orders and were seated outside. No joke we had three flies or so to fend off as our meals came, but other than that the food was pretty good. I opted for a salad and took a few sips of my husband's milkshake. The milkshake wasn't too strong in flavor, but there was enough in the leftover cup to let some of my friends try for themselves. My salad was so pretty and it was flavorful with the two dressings that came with it. I definitely should've asked to hold the tomatoes, but just scooted them to the corner of my plate. My friend let me try his Garlic Parmesan fries and they were pretty good. We could see the aircrafts coming and going at our table as we conversed with each other. There was most likely a hiccup near the end of the meal, where the servers kept coming to us to provide the drinks and foods that belonged to the table next to us, which we redirected to after two or three servers came by. This is a super busy cafe on the grounds of the Camarillo airport. As I understand, it is always as busy as it was this morning on a Saturday at 9:30 AM. There were about 25 people in line on the front walk, at least under large umbrellas to shelter from the intense sun. Restaurant staff walked by handing out menus and plastic cups of water. Slowly being let into the restaurant as tables became available, you approach the host desk and place your order. Upon completion and paying the check. You are shown to your table and drinks are brought by a "flight crew " table server. In no time at all the food is delivered and it is huge and very tasty.my biscuits and gravy was a bit light on gravy but tadty. It was stacked on a large biscuit open faced with a sausage patty and egg on each face with grain top. Had some folks visiting from out-of-town, went to Waypoint for breakfast. It was great sitting outside watching planes go by. Our food came very quickly as the service was exceptional. Almost everyone (seven in the group) ordered something different, omelets, burritos, breakfast tacos, pancakes, and on and on...all great tasting and very memorable. This is my second time at this place for breakfast and remembered even the coffee was good. So many times restaurants have somewhat weak, watery coffee. The coffee served at the Waypoint is very good and tasty. I say again, if you love breakfast, want a great breakfast, Waypoint Cafe is the place to go. There may have a bit of a line even if you arrive early but that should tell you-it's a great business serving great food. A family affair To sum up the weekend, we gathered here. At the private hangar entrance for the Camarillo airport with an active runway 20 embarked on the breakfast experience. We left happy. Our hostess, Alma, was so kind and accommodating when our party of 4 were separated and only my wife and I were present( no reservations taken). She had us sit in a comfortable patio outside , with coffee and water. The attraction of this cafe' is it's on the Camarillo Airport landing zone. Waypoint has become our annual tradition for Thanksgiving break week. Since my son is old enough now to also enjoy the planes viewing area, we knew we'd have a great breakfast experience. We got there right before a major rush so we got seated right away and had the choice to pick from inside and outside. Very Disappointing Experience at Waypoint Cafe My wife and I had a very disappointing experience at Waypoint Cafe today. During a rain shower, my wife slipped and fell in the outside area behind the main dining room and bruised her knee. We immediately informed a woman who I believe was the supervisor on duty about what had happened. Unfortunately, instead of showing concern for my wife or checking to see if she was okay, her response was that the floor was not wet. However, the area where my wife fell was clearly wet from the rain. I asked if they could put out a wet floor sign to warn other customers, but she told us they could not because servers were using that area to go back and forth. What was most upsetting was the way she spoke to us. Her attitude and comments made us feel as though she was implying that the accident was my wife's fault, rather than acknowledging the wet surface and taking the situation seriously. Accidents can happen, especially during rainy weather, but I believe a business should prioritize the safety of its customers and respond with concern and professionalism when someone gets hurt. At the very least, we expected someone from management to check on my wife and take steps to prevent another customer from slipping. This experience was very disappointing, particularly because of how the situation was handled afterward. read more

I was in Camarillo for the weekend visiting some relatives. My aunt was keen on taking us to Waypoint Cafe for breakfast! We showed up early and waited in line for a few minutes before opening time. Whilst waiting, we looked at the menu so we'd be ready to order. Ordering is done up front then you are seated. I opted for the cinnamon roll and a guava mimosa. After sitting, it was only a few short minutes before all of the food was brought out. The mimosa was a generous portion and very delicious. I thought it had a good ratio of juice to champagne. The French toast was very good! It was sweet and rich but not too much. My family and I didn't speak much since we were very much enjoying our food. The style of the restaurant is very efficient but I never felt rushed. It's down to business with eating and seating but everyone was very helpful and kind. Overall, I had a good time at Waypoint! I LOVE Waypoint cafe! I've taken many friends and family members to this place over the years and it never disappoints! The Sunday rush can be kind of crazy so get there early to beat the lines. When we got there, we waited in line less than 10 minutes before our orders were taken at the front desk before being taken to our table. We got a nice table outside with a great view of the runway. I love how the restaurant is decorated and how there's even a miniature runway in the back for the kids to play in. We are so impressed by the service too! My favorite dish is definitely the lemon ricotta pancakes. I told my friends that they're light and fluffy and perfect. Although they were put off by the idea of cheese in pancakes, they both agreed they were the perfect balance. Also, the pancakes are HUGE and you get three! It's definitely worth it. My family has been coming to Waypoint for years and we've loved all their phases! Food is always what you expect, huge portions, fast services and obviously the Cam Airport view you can't beat! Do I love the switch from getting full service to now ordering at the host stand and then as you sit down your food is already at the table? Not necessarily....I'm someone that who likes to have a couple sips of my coffee and chat for a minute before I dig in BUT I will say it's ideal for people with toddlers who need their food asap! Once we made it to the door, one of the staff members sat us and then called a waitress over to take our order and we paid upfront. I asked the waitress if we could be on separate checks. She said yes and then left for a moment and came back. She had just split the check 50/50 which wasn't exactly right considering I had ordered a bowl of oatmeal that was $12 and my friend ordered a full breakfast plate that was $21.50. So I am subtracting a star for that. The service was quick and we had received our food within 8-10 minutes of ordering. I had ordered one of the most impressive bowls of oatmeal i have ever had at a restaurant. And actually it is probably the first bowl I have ever ordered at a restaurant. It was steel cut oats with craisins, nuts, cinnamon and banana. They also served a tiny amount of milk, brown sugar and raisins with it. I really enjoyed it. We did have the wait staff check-in with us a few times and they refilled our waters. Picked a Thursday morning to try this place out since I've been told the weekend wait can take up to 1.5 hrs. We waited about 5 mins for a party of 2, you order as soon as you walk in at the register then you take a number and pick a seat. Your food is takes to your table and the waiters to come and check on you for refills and anything else you might need. The food was delicious and had good options for coffee which we love! The chicken fried steak was good I wouldn't say the best I ever had but delicious nevertheless. The view is amazing and the atmosphere was quiet even with being outside by the airport, it did get loud for about 5-10 minutes when a plane was taking off but that is to be expected you are at an airport after all. First off I guess I should've read more about this restaurant. It was near an airport kind of out-of-the-way. I didn't know you had to get in line and then order when you got to the front of the line. So someone came out and gave me a menu and I finally got in line with my husband. We weren't there that long maybe 10 to 15 minutes. So we got to the cashier and we ordered our breakfast. Then someone took us to our seats. Ashlie was our server but basically she brought out our food and our coffee. My husband and I both had coffee and I love the mugs and the coffee was pretty good. They even had the raw sugar we like. I had a Carnitas omelette with fruit and wheat toast. The omelette was pretty good, the fruit I would've liked some blueberries or something else. It had a lot of pineapple. Love the wheat toast. My husband had ham and eggs with hashbrowns. Hashbrowns were your typical he said the ham steak wasn't as good as some other places. They did come around and made sure we had coffee and water. And then it might've been the owner she brought us to go boxes. Great if you have kids cause you can sit outside and I believe you may even can bring your dogs.
