If you're at the beach all day, and wished mom would have packed your snacks after playing mermaids this is what you'd want for your treat. I got The Kraken which is a tuna melt of my dreams- like a grilled cheese meets tuna sandwich with all the flavor and comfort you'd expect. The sourdough bread is crunchy and has the perfect chew and I'm absolutely coming back for more. And I can afford it since the prices are reasonable. Food is good but the wait time is ridiculously long. Came in @9:55 for two breakfast sandwiches and it's 10:45 while I write this and still no food. This place is getting worse on ticket times for the last few years. Really hope the owner takes ownership of this issue. Just got my food after a 50 minute wait. Will update after meal.... (Finished this review after i ate) Food is not worth the wait. Looks like quality is starting to slip as well. My recommendation if you're in the area and looking for breakfast, slide across the street to Pepe's or hit up the Hollywood beach Cafe. I'm sure wait times are less and foods not a disappointment. We arrived at 11 AM to a nearly empty dining room. We ordered a tuna melt, pastrami on rye, famous loaded fries, onion rings, and regular fries. We were told to expect a 20 minute wait for our food, but it took 40 minutes to get our food and our meal was cold!?! The sauerkraut in my pastrami still had the chill from the refrigerator. The fries were undercooked and the famous loaded fries were barely above room temperature. The tuna melt had tuna but no melt. The kitchen was overwhelmed by online orders as they were turning away walk-in customers who being told it would be an hour before they'd get their food. Management needs to better balance takeout volume with the experience of guests sitting in the restaurant. When you're cranking out food that's not representing you well, it's time to step back and rethink what you're doing. read more

The place was so cute and I loved all the aesthetics inside ! They featured so many local artists and popular movie references. The burrito portions were huge and I took like a WHILE to finish, splitting it over lunch and breakfast. I really liked how the hashbrowns within the burritos were crunchy. Yet my sausages were soft. The chorizo burrito was flavorful. It is street parking so make sure you come in a little early if you want to find good parking. Overall, I would definitely go there again. We ordered over the phone on Saturday for pick up and they have a few spots saved for pick up because the space/parking lot is small. We ordered 2 breakfast burritos and a croissant bacon & egg sandwich. Pick up was easy, quick, and friendly. The place has a great beach shack vibe. The food was so so so good! I'm so jealous because I'm from out of town and would love this place in my hometown!!! The breakfast sandwich was hot, big, and so filling. Same with the burritos. I visited today and got the Fireman Mike sandwhich which was absolutely phenomenal! I must admit that the uniqueness of how that sandwhich was created was superb and it has to be one of the most delicious things they have on the menu. To add the service was great, they helped me instantly even with how busy they were and they have a good online system to streamline the process as well. They have an outside and an inside. The entire experience was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and honestly embarrassing for a neighborhood business. Madison's attitude was unbelievably rude and condescending--the kind of interaction where you walk away wondering why someone who clearly cannot stand dealing with customers decided to own a customer-facing business. So the girlies and I were in need of some serious sustenance after working out yesterday. We wanted something nearby the beach, causal and tasty. As always, found this spot with the help of Yelp. The Strandwich is a badass little hole in the wall sandwich spot and their breakfast menu is absolutely elite! Breakfast sandwiches and burritos with all of the fixings and so many protein options. You order at the counter and then find a seat. Fair warning, this place is small and cozy, so get here early if you want to find a table. Our order was whipped up by a couple of baddies and they brought the food over to our table. I'm a sucker for anything Lychee so started with their Lychee Hawaiian juice and it was the much needed sugar rush I needed after our 5k race. We ordered up a couple of breakfast croissants and breakfast burritos and let me tell you, THEY WERE BOMB! * My bacon, egg, and cheese croissant was a 10/10. It absolutely hit. The Strandwich has some of the best sandwiches that I've ever had! Let's start with the Fireman Mike. Tender brisket with a little bit of fat on delicious sourdough with cheese, with some added jalapeno poppers for kick. This sandwich is an easy 12/10. Every bite was delicious. Next, the Vaquero which is also brisket but burger style with chorizo and jalapeños poppers is delicious as well. The burger fixings like pickles and onion gave this one a different feel, and the strand sauce was so good. I'd have to say an 11 or 12/10 for this one as well, but I'd give the slight edge to the Fireman Mike. The regular brisket sandwich is good as well, but I definitely prefer the fireman Mike. The toasted sourdough is my preference over the hoagie roll. I'll give the brisket sammy an 8/10. The roll was nice and buttered but it needs something else on it to take it over the top. All in all the Strandwich is one of the best places to grab food in the whole 805. I'll be back to try much more of the menu, I have my eye on the Tri Tip cheesesteak, the burger, and of course more Fireman Mikes! The service is excellent as well with very nice people working here. Always good, but not on Sunday when we ordered takeout. I ordered the loaded Cody eggs over easy which were far from it. They had actually broken the yoke of the egg and still served it over hard both of them still looking for the chorizo. The biscuit was burnt. Pretty sure they snuck it in as well.... Also ordered breakfast burrito... no avocado... no potatoes... very disappointing after so many good services there. This surfer's hideaway is located near the Silver Strand Beach. It's a great place to stop by and grab some delicious food, before/after taking a walk or surfing on the beach. There aren't many shops around this beach, so having a place like this here is nice. I liked the interior, which had a beachy vibe. There are a few tables inside, and there is outside seating. The service was friendly and excellent, and the price was reasonable. I tried a chicken BLT sandwich and that was good. The chicken was crispy but not dry. It came with a small package of chips. So tried THE STRANDWICH as a walk in to give another review. Let me say the coffee is outstanding. The egg croissant sandwich was good. But the terrible review is due to no one using gloves or handwashing. I sat there for 20 min waiting on my simple egg and cheese sandwich, and watched the guy take cash then go straight to the grill. What a disappointing waste of time! Menus should always be clearly labeled. It is safe to assume that a chicken sandwich will be grilled unless it specifically says fried so I was extremely unhappy when we waited such a long time for food only to discover the chicken was fried. They do not carry regular chicken so I could not eat with the person I attempted to go to lunch with. They were also out of brisket and pastrami as well which is why we went there in the first place. I had the morning munchies and needed to get off the base for some real breakfast. Found this place on Yelp and it turns out that it's the old Big Daddio's Tri Tip sandwich place I used to go to. Food: The menu was very interesting because there were items that included bbq meats, which isn't common here on the west coast. But it is in my home state of Oklahoma. I ordered the brisket breakfast sando and it was pretty good. My first thought when I saw it was that it was huge and was going to fall apart with all of the brisket in there. But it held together and wasn't too messy. The cheese is what really helps hold the sandwich meat and eggs together. The brisket was fresh, warm, and had a little bit of smoke. Service: The gentleman that my order was friendly and efficient. He also let me and all other customers know that each order takes about 8-10 minutes, so make yourselves at home in their seating area. Ambiance: Walking back into the old Big Daddio's BBQ brought back so many memories of my lunch breaks when I was new hire on the base back in 2003. I can't believe how modern and clean the facility was compared to back then. There is very cool art to appreciate while you wait for you orders. Four stars for no ice. We bought bottles of water, but I like my ice, and if you don't have ice, you lose a star. This is a small, quaint place. That's probably why you can't have ice. But how do they make their smoothies? Prices are very good. Young man taking our order was helpful & pleasant. Food was cooked to order. For drinks, Pepsi products are sold, Crystal Geyser bottled water, and fresh smoothies. Our food was delivered to our table outside by our cashier! Nice. Ordered the brisket breakfast burrito but man, I couldn't get passed the raw garlic flavor in the sauce. I'm assuming this is the house "Strand sauce"? It basically tasted of crema or yogurt and a ton of raw garlic. I love garlic, but this was sooo strong, especially for breakfast. I couldn't taste anything else in the burrito but garlic. I'm still tasting it 12 hours later. Also, very little potato. I think I got some in the first couple of bites, but that's it. The brisket was a lot of fat. I'm guessing they use the less desirable pieces of brisket for the breakfast burrito and the better cuts for their sandwiches and other plates. Anyways, unless you want to taste raw garlic all day, and gnaw on fatty brisket, then this wasn't worth it. Also, thanks for the thimble of ketchup when I asked for hot sauce. read more
