This is my go to breakfast place when I'm in town. You can generally get a table (they have many picnic tables outside in the back), and the food and service is excellent. Things that I've ordered: - Beignets: these are freshly fried, light, crispy, and delicious. I love them with coffee - Homemade sausage patty breakfast: the homemade sausage tastes fresh and has the perfect amount of spice and seasoning. While they're known for their potatoes o'Brien, I really enjoy their crispy hashbrowns. The biscuit option is substantial and fluffy - Waffle: the Belgian waffle comes out crispy and delicious. We ordered a Two Trees Burger through DoorDash. DoorDash describes it as a **two-patty burger on a bun with cheddar cheese, pickle, onion, lettuce, tomato, and sauce.** We selected to hold the toppings except for the cheddar and pickles. What we received was a **single patty with shredded white cheese and guacamole on sourdough bread.** Not even remotely what we ordered. My husband took it back and was told, "No, this IS the Two Trees Burger." He explained that it was not what we ordered. The server took it back to the cook, who apparently just took the same burger and threw it onto a bun. My husband had to go back in **a THIRD time** and explain again that the order was supposed to be a DOUBLE patty burger on a bun with cheddar and pickles only. The burger went back to the cook again, who scraped off the guacamole, threw some pickles on the bottom, and then tossed the order onto the counter, clearly irritated. At that point, my husband gave up and just took it. I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. I spoke with Junior, who said he was a manager. Before explaining what DoorDash showed, I asked him, "What comes on your Two Trees Burger?" Interestingly, **he described the burger we had initially received**--the single-patty burger with the completely different ingredients. When I explained what DoorDash lists as the Two Trees Burger, his response was, **"We have no control over what DoorDash puts on their site."** That response was probably the most frustrating part of this entire experience. This restaurant has a direct link to DoorDash from its own website (and yelp!) and is accepting and fulfilling orders placed through DoorDash. If your third-party menu is advertising a completely different product under the same name, that is something the restaurant should be concerned about and work to correct--not simply tell a customer it isn't your responsibility. I also explained that the cook seemed irritated when my husband repeatedly tried to get the order corrected. Junior immediately told me that wasn't true and said he was right there when it happened. So instead of listening to a customer who had already received the wrong order and had to make THREE attempts to have it corrected, the response was simply to deny our experience. I even checked the restaurant's own website afterward. The version of the Two Trees Burger that Junior described--and confirmed they serve--isn't even listed on their website. Yet apparently it is different from the Two Trees Burger they are selling through DoorDash under the exact same name. The original mistake could have been resolved easily. What made this a one-star experience was everything that happened afterward: the wrong order, the first "correction" still being wrong, the second "correction" consisting of scraping ingredients off the same burger, the cook's attitude, and finally a manager who took absolutely no responsibility for any part of the experience. We cannot possibly be the first customers to order this burger through DoorDash and receive something completely different from what is advertised. Completely disappointed and dissatisfied. We will not be back. **Buyer beware, especially if ordering this restaurant through DoorDash. Apparently they're happy to accept the orders, but when their DoorDash menu doesn't match what they're actually serving, suddenly it's "DoorDash's" responsibility.** No wonder this place has gone so downhill. FOLLOWING IS MY RESPONSE to the owners reply... I/we never said there was "arguing" or a "REFUSAL to correct." My images clearly show an INACCURATE description. While I can appreciate a business owners attempt to review and resolve a less than stellar review, STILL the actual issue is not resolved and we are being questioned now about whether or not WE even ordered the correct item? No it was never the Smashburger. The gaslighting from the phone call with Junior to the owner/manager response here is, palpable. Pun intended. That's wonderful you're doing so great. I'm happy to have given this platform via my review for you to brag about your business. Cheers indeed. I will continue to brag about the poor encounter myself. Food was delicious! My friends and I went for breakfast items that were staple items like the denver omelet a classic (though in my opinion had too much cheese on top). However everything we ordered had such a great balance of flavors, and you could tell a lot of thought went into each dish. The Monte Cristo sandwich was hands down one of the highlights, perfectly toasted and packed with flavor. The Beignets were warm, light, and fluffy without being overly sweet, and the Lemon Blueberry Pancakes were soft, fresh, and had just the right amount of lemon to complement the blueberries. We also loved the house-made raspberry jam that came with the toast. It was fresh, flavorful, and honestly something I'd come back for on its own. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming, our server Joe was very helpful and knew when to make an entrance and when to let us eat and talk. This is the perfect brunch spot to catch up with friends. As a long time connoisseur of dive diners and a recent new resident of Ventura, this place was recommended to me. Firstly, it is not a dive diner. I was greeted quickly by a very pleasant server and seated in a booth. Coffee came and it was excellent. Apparently it's roasted in Santa Barbara somewhere. My compliments. I chose the sausage patty and eggs breakfast with pinto beans. It also came with a biscuit. The sausage patties were excellent and the server told me that they are made in-house, as is the jelly or compote that came with the biscuit. The biscuit was delicious and incredibly light, so much so that if anybody can send me a picture of them actually buttering it, I would be impressed. I resorted to having to eat it with a fork that was dipped in the butter and jam. Not a criticism. It was an excellent biscuit and I bet when it's covered with gravy it's even better. As a long time cook, I found this breakfast to be very satisfying and delicious and a quality meal. My compliments to the owners and the cooks. As a side note, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Very impressed, as often this is the area that goes unmaintained. This was the second time we have dined at Two Trees. The first time was for lunch and we were there again for dinner last week. Dinner was superlative. My husband has the carne asada and it was amazing. An interesting collection of ingredients including a roasted Jalapeno and cactus. The steak was perfect and the accompaniments so good. This review is long overdue since I've been to Two Trees a couple of times now. It's a nice restaurant with plenty of decent food options that can satisfy everyone's craving. Love their outdoor patio; it's perfectly spacious for my toddler's high chair without bugging the next table over. On our recent visit, we tried a variety of dishes. All were pretty good and enjoyed by everyone. I love their French fries and fried zucchini. They're always crispy and fresh. Two Trees also has my favorite michelada I've tried in VTA. The wait wasn't too long for a Saturday. We were seated fairly quickly. Some of the tables in the middle felt like it was very tight quarters but we could still have our conversations. The specials almost had me, that strawberry old fashioned was tempting but my sister said the michelada was the way to go. Frozen goblet glasses rimmed with tangy flavor. This was my first michelada experience and this was a great place for it. The beignets are cute and tiny and full of flavor with the dusting of cinnamon sugar. Perfect for sharing. If you are a Ventura local, a mother or have babies/kids, please do not support! It was sunny afternoon around 5:30 pm. There were only 3 tables occupied when we (my 2 year old and 2 month old) got there. It took about 10-15 mins to get seated. And the big waiter that sat us did NOT have spatial awareness. He knocked my toddler over with a chair who was trying to give him space when he was seating us. She fell hard on her head. The waiter did not even flinch/look at her to see if she's okay. He simply just stepped away like nothing happened. He sat us on the tiniest first seat on the right next to the window. This space is good for one person. Not for a mom with a big baby seat carrier and a toddler. They still crammed us there. There was no shade. The sun was hitting the newborn directly on the face. It is impossible to move and assist both kids. I saw a couple who came in after us got seated to a bigger booth. They had so much room. They also got shade. By 6:00 pm, the restaurant started getting packed. They sat a table of 10. The waiter who was friends with this party if 10 took their order then came to us later. We were starving. And it took so much power to just get out of the door with a newborn and toddler. But the waiter was too busy chatting with his friends (big party table). The big table got their food and drinks. We got ours 20 mins later. By the time we were halfway done, we drank all of our waters. We were thirsty. I was trying to give an eye contact to both my waiter and the waiter that sat us. The waiter that sat us kept giving me an eye contact the whole time but never came over. He ignored me. The only time someone came over was when a waitress (not our server) gave us our check. We asked for water. The waiter that gave me that eye contact all day but never helped finally came over to give us a water refill. There are way better places in Ventura that has consistently good service and food. This place is a no go. Huge disappointment. It doesn't feel like the staff carries that Ventura vibe. I do sometimes feel bad for restaurant staff who want us to get the heck out, but Two Trees never made us feel rushed or unwelcome. We had a short wait for a table, then were seated in a comfortable booth. We ordered and chatted, and both enjoyed our food. The omelets are quite big, and my friend took some of hers home. Was so excited to finally try two trees but huge disappointment with the food. The michis were delicious. Not sure if it's just what I ordered but got the crab cake Benedict and it was not good. The eggs were basically hard boiled and not poached. There was a gross stringy membrane on one of the eggs. The hollandaise was water and there was barely any on them. The crab cake itself was mush with a couple crunchy pieces of pepper and the hash browns were completely overcooked and dust. I ended up leaving the whole meal and the waitress never checked if anything was wrong/good. The service was ok, they were busy so I'll give them that. My partners club was good except the bread was not toasted. Thank goodness for the michis otherwise I would have not left with anything. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Ventura, also my neighbor. They are consistently amazing. I cannot remember one time where I was disappointed with the food. I think one time I did get the wrong order, but the food that I got, was just as amazing and it actually made me taste something different. They offered to change it. I just let them know, but I was happy with the mistake. They did not charge me. On another note, I had dental work and had my husband bring me a chorizo burrito home, as it would be easy on my teeth. I was correct and the taste was unbelievable. Not to mention the salsa they sent home with it. I don't usually use a salsa, with that burrito, as I love the chorizo taste, but this did not disguise or take away from the taste of the chorizo. I always love to visit as I love sitting on the outside patio, even inside is great. I did pass this time as I had dental work and did not want to leave the house. The only challenge now that we have a baby is that there's no changing station in the restroom, which makes things a little difficult for parents.
