Tucked away in a non-descript industrial park, Hozy's Grill is a very pleasant surprise. The room has a quiet and sophisticated look and vibe and there's an outdoor eating area if the weather's nice. There's also a (full) bar area with seating. A minor quibble: the chairs in the dining room don't slide very easily on the tiled floor, and this might be a bit annoying. The food was tasty and the service was pleasant and professional. Prices are what you'd expect to pay and good enough value, especially if you share food (as we do). If you're looking for a place to eat while traveling through Santa Paula give Hozy's a try, for sure! read more

Had such a great experience here on Mother's Day! The restaurant was super busy with a huge waitlist, but the staff handled everything so well and stayed so kind and organized the entire time. The service was amazing, the food was great, and you could tell everyone was working hard to make sure guests still had a good experience despite how packed it was. My boyfriend and I used to really enjoy coming here, but this last visit was incredibly disappointing. The service was poor, and our server, Julianna, came across as rude and unprofessional. When I asked a simple question about the menu, she went over to the hostess and appeared to mock me, which was completely inappropriate. I also asked for a side of regular butter with my waffles, but instead received something with a strange, almost melted-then-frozen texture that was not appetizing, especially since not everyone enjoys walnuts in their butter. To make matters worse, there were flies everywhere, making it hard to enjoy our meal. When it came time to pay, Julianna avoided our table and kept walking back and forth without checking in. My boyfriend eventually had to go up to the front to settle the bill, and even then, when he tried to politely wish her a good day, she cut her eyes at him and went back to her phone. Overall, the experience was frustrating, and unfortunately, this kind of service reflects poorly on the establishment. People like this have no business in the service industry. read more

What can I say, this place is so stinking good. Hidden away in an industrial complex, when you walk in you are transformed to a lovely oasis. We had reservations for 2 of us at 5pm and when we arrived there was a line at the door of people waiting to get in. We ordered abalone (farm raised because it is illegal to catch them in the ocean). Oh boy was it good (and expensive) and worth it. It came with a perfect classic beurre blanc sauce (so good I wanted to lick the he plate but did not do that) and some sliced tomatoes. It was lightly breaded with seemed to be like a tempura batter. The veggie rice was really good, tender, creamy and so tasty. We had asparagus (good but typical and we heard afterward you can request them grilled) and lovely heirloom carrots cooked perfectly, tender but firm with a light butter sauce. The bread is yummy, not homemade but sure seems like it. We started with shrimp cocktails which came with 3 large shrimp. So give this place a try but leave a table for me or I can also eat at the bar. read more

Love this place. Frequented for years. Unfortunately the waitresses now have power to refuse patio service. We were set to sit outside on Mother's Day, and we were told our server could not help any more patrons in the patio. Mind you, it wasn't busy. And we were told before that our table was almost ready. I believe the manager Tonya refused to wait on us. I recently came here for dinner on a Thursday night with a fairly large group and we all had the best of time. I got the halibut and my husband got the Thai pork chop which were both tasty. But the winner of the show were all the desserts and wine/pina colada! Their sushi appetizer was so fresh, I couldn't believe it. It just literally melts in your mouth! The tart that took 20 mins came out in 15 mins and was a star meal. Also loved the French toast which is normally a breakfast item. This is my third time to this restaurant and have always wanted to try their fried chicken. All the previous times, the food was amazing. Service was great, I sat at the bar and was greeted quickly by a friendly server. I ordered the white meat fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. I guess it was an off day for the fried chicken. The skin was bland and the meat was a little over cooked. I did make it work with the gravy on my mashed potatoes. So all in all it was great. The girl who brought it asked if we wanted an extra plate. It never came. Food came out about fifteen minutes later. They close at 9. Food was great. Surprisingly! Was there yesterday with a buddy, yesterday , 4/26/26. The server , somewhat heavyset ,younger girl took my order. I ordered a veggie burrito with no eggs. I also ordered water and coffee . Well, the coffee and water never came. A different server came to our table and asked if we needed anything, and she actually brought my coffee and water . When my food came , I took a bite of my burrito, and it was full of egg. Very disappointing service from this young female who just couldn't take my order correctly, and was somewhat confused . My Mom was a great cook, but an Iowa farm girl cook, chicken and dumplings, SOS, chicken fried steak. CFS meant chewy flank or round steak, almost inedible. I saw CFS on the Hozy's menu, but filet. Spuds, gravy. No mention of veg, but went and ordered. Was served with jewel like baby veg, cooked to perfection. The entire dish KILLED, supreme! Another perfect breakfast at Hozy's. It always helps when the waitress is on top of things and knows proper timing. The pancakes were large, fluffy and delicious served with walnut butter and maple syrup. The omelettes are always great and the home fries were wonderful too. The only item we changed this time was ordering English muffins instead of sourdough bread. Even though the muffins cost extra my ONE big gripe with Hozy's is the sourdough toast they serve with breakfast has a greater resemblance to white bread than any sourdough I've ever had. This little out-of-the-way spot was recommended to me by a Santa Paul native as the best breakfast place in the area. It's a cozy automobile-themed restaurant in an industrial park. The huevos rancheros was a huge plate that included surprising stewed meat. I had lighter fair, half a delicious chicken salad on sourdough sandwich and a big fresh greens salad. This is a place that serves such good food. I have had the huevos rancheros a couple of times and the chicken fried steak with gravy and mashed potatoes. Service was good, not excellent, yet the food is so solid still five stars from me. Hope to work over in Ventura/Santa Paula are more and try more dishes. read more

The ambiance is inviting and kid-friendly with a race car theme and I love it! I loved everything about this place. I think the portions are big. I forgot to take pictures of the food. Went for breakfast. Ordered the veggie omelet with hash browns and sour dough. Sat at the bar and the food tasted fresh. Was better than average. The jelly(peaches in cinnamon) was very good and original. The servers were attentive and explanatory. Nice and quick experience. And pleasant environment. Okay, the food is good, consistent and big portions. Service was alright...Vibe was off though. Some of the customers just kept starring at us. Have you guys ever seen a diverse family or a family that is blended? But once those customers left, the vibe got better. Not sure if the vibes were off since it was Easter Sunday but you think it would be all happy and cheery since its a holiday. Anywho, lets get to the food!! Lets just get to the food and service: Food was good, I went with the ham and cheese omelet and added mushrooms. The potatoes were fire and so was the omelet. Hubby went with the huevos ranchers and his plate whole plate was delicious, I really liked the beans. Our sons went a cheeseburger and breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito is huge and he could only eat half of it. The cheeseburger looked really good too but it took longer to be served so we had to wait a good 5-7 minutes to eat our food since we all wanted to eat together. The services was alright, maybe the staff was just over it and wanted to go home and enjoy their Sunday. We might go back, if anything, I'd like to try their dinner menu and see how the vibes are then. read more

My wife and I visited Hozy for breakfast. I ordered the cornbread hash & eggs with a side of hash browns. The hash was so oiley & greasy, the oil was oozing out of the hash. The hash brown were cooked in oil I'm guessing but it had such a strange taste I couldn't taste the potatoes. I've had an upset stomach for the past two hours. I keep tasting and burping the potatoes. They are normally really good, but this is unacceptable. NOT sure if we will be back. read more

Hozy's is a cute restaurant tucked away in Santa Paula. Everything tastes pretty good, nothing to write home about. The drinks are presented very well but taste okay. The aesthetics are pleasing. Reason for the low rating: Left a tip based on the service. We always tip well for great service, but unfortunately she left a lot to be desired; so we tipped accordingly. One star down. She seemed to be more comfortable/friendly/attentive to regular customers. Then we received our CC statement, and she left herself an extra $4. Had this been a $1 mistake, or even $2 -- which sometimes it can be/has been with our chicken-scratch writing -- I would have let it be. But we wrote the tip and totaled the amount. There's no way you could mistake the intended tip. Two stars down for greed. I really hope she doesn't this to others when she thinks she's entitled to more. read more

We love going to Hozy's. Last night was a disaster. We had a party of 9. I believe the server was new because nothing went right all night. The drink order took 25 minutes and the dinner to be served took 2 hours. The food was all cold to warm. There was a 20% gratuity added but l refused to pay since the service and food was below par. Most of us tipped it but some less. There was no sorry for the inconvenience but we were the problem. The party felt the waitress was rude and unfriendly. We all said thank you to her separately but she just ignored our sincere comment. We will go back but just out of principle, l needed to make a comment. read more
