Had such a great experience here on Mother's Day! The restaurant was super busy with a huge waitlist, but the staff handled everything so well and stayed so kind and organized the entire time. The service was amazing, the food was great, and you could tell everyone was working hard to make sure guests still had a good experience despite how packed it was. Definitely appreciate how well they managed such a hectic day. Will for sure be coming back!

My boyfriend and I used to really enjoy coming here, but this last visit was incredibly disappointing. The service was poor, and our server, Julianna, came across as rude and unprofessional. When I asked a simple question about the menu, she went over to the hostess and appeared to mock me, which was completely inappropriate. I also asked for a side of regular butter with my waffles, but instead received something with a strange, almost melted-then-frozen texture that was not appetizing, especially since not everyone enjoys walnuts in their butter. To make matters worse, there were flies everywhere, making it hard to enjoy our meal. When it came time to pay, Julianna avoided our table and kept walking back and forth without checking in. My boyfriend eventually had to go up to the front to settle the bill, and even then, when he tried to politely wish her a good day, she cut her eyes at him and went back to her phone. Overall, the experience was frustrating, and unfortunately, this kind of service reflects poorly on the establishment. People like this have no business in the service industry.

What can I say, this place is so stinking good. Hidden away in an industrial complex, when you walk in you are transformed to a lovely oasis. We had reservations for 2 of us at 5pm and when we arrived there was a line at the door of people waiting to get in. We ordered abalone (farm raised because it is illegal to catch them in the ocean). Oh boy was it good (and expensive) and worth it. It came with a perfect classic beurre blanc sauce (so good I wanted to lick the he plate but did not do that) and some sliced tomatoes. It was lightly breaded with seemed to be like a tempura batter. The veggie rice was really good, tender, creamy and so tasty. We had asparagus (good but typical and we heard afterward you can request them grilled) and lovely heirloom carrots cooked perfectly, tender but firm with a light butter sauce. The bread is yummy, not homemade but sure seems like it. We started with shrimp cocktails which came with 3 large shrimp. So give this place a try but leave a table for me or I can also eat at the bar.

I recently came here for dinner on a Thursday night with a fairly large group and we all had the best of time. I got the halibut and my husband got the Thai pork chop which were both tasty. But the winner of the show were all the desserts and wine/pina colada! Their sushi appetizer was so fresh, I couldn't believe it. It just literally melts in your mouth! The tart that took 20 mins came out in 15 mins and was a star meal. Also loved the French toast which is normally a breakfast item. The blended pina colada tasted so good but still got me tipsy haha Overall wonderful service in a small community

This is my third time to this restaurant and have always wanted to try their fried chicken. All the previous times, the food was amazing. Service was great, I sat at the bar and was greeted quickly by a friendly server. I ordered the white meat fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. I guess it was an off day for the fried chicken. The skin was bland and the meat was a little over cooked. I did make it work with the gravy on my mashed potatoes. So all in all it was great. Will try the chicken again on my next visit.

Had an 8pm dinner reservation 10 minutes early Said they were fixing the table Decided to hang at the bar till table was ready Got seated at 8:25ish. Had to ask for a waitress after 10 more minutes No greeting just a " Are you ready to order". Don't know who waited on us all evening. There were a few Salad came out. The girl who brought it asked if we wanted an extra plate. It never came. Food came out about fifteen minutes later. They close at 9. Food was great. Surprisingly! A lot of staff running ariund without their heads! Nice little restaurant. The outside seating is bigger than inside Great menu Prices are ok $$$ Very close seating inside Service was terrible even though they were friendly enough. Nice bar If the food wasn't good I wouldn't recommend it but that was their saving grace! Go at your own risk! I may be back someday.

What a fantastic find! I'm still thinking about those fish and chips--perfectly cooked. The watermelon martini was the cherry on top of a great meal. The staff was welcoming and attentive on top of everything. I'll definitely be back!

At the time the dining room was sparsely populated, only a few other tables were seated. We were seated quickly by the hostess and ordered within a few minutes of sitting down; my wife ordered the seafood pasta I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and the tomato burrata salad as an appetizer. After about 20 minutes the waitress returned to let us know that they were out of the pasta, so my wife asked for the risotto instead. The salad arrived quickly, however my wife noted that it was missing grilled peaches that were listed in the menu description, a disappointment. The salad itself was balsamic dressed cherry tomatoes with a single piece of burrata on top. Another 40 minutes later our entrees finally arrived. Much to my dismay my dish lacked any appreciable character; it was as if they had cooked six month old frozen pasta and thrown up a brown sauce with fried sage on top. My wife's risotto was mostly cheese but was also similarly devoid of other flavors. Now to be fair to the folks here, I did mention to the waitstaff that the flavors in the food were off and they did reduce the bill. They were also apologetic about the wait we faced. Nevertheless, restaurants have three things they need to do well in order to be successful: food, service and ambience. Perhaps if they improved the quality of the food and the time to service more people would come. Needless to say, but I won't be returning.

I'd been wanting to go back and take Dear Hubby to enjoy this very special re-imagining of the previous space, which had been an Irish pub incarnation. When our sister-in-law and two nieces were in town, the five of us were able to spend a quick evening together at Selvin's. We had been working on a project at our house, and by the time we got finished and ready to go out there wasn't a lot of time left as we went on a weeknight and they close at 9:00. I'm surprised that having a full bar, and being attached to a hotel property, that they would hang it up so early - even 9:30 or 10:00 would make more sense. It's such a charming place; seems a shame to have to call it a night so early. The ambiance is absolutely divine, especially out here in suburbia. It's very innovative in its layout. The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. They aren't inexpensive - apparently spirits without alcohol aren't any less (or maybe only slightly less?) than the full-spirited options. Still, it's nice to have the option. Our out of town family members LOVED Selvin's; it was a big hit with all of us. As an added bonus, there was a guitarist playing beautiful acoustic music when we arrived and were seated in the lounge area. Major extra credit!

(No other patrons that I saw were subject to this scrutiny) The Ugly: we each had one drink and shared two yellow tail sashimi starters. Upon asking for another round we were rather surprised to find out our party was cut off from the bar. Water and bread only. The sashimi eaten we took the indignation in stride and decided to wait until the barmaid deemed it acceptable to serve us again. Now it gets bad, one of our party became ill and threw up in the bathroom, before we could even find out what was going on with her, barmaid from hell publicly informed us because one of our party was ill we were permanently cut off from the bar. Not considering the food as the culprit of said illness at all. My wife began to feel sick as well and we paid and left. She had trouble walking, speaking and breathing. She became violently ill and the smell of bad fish was overwhelming. I have a portable breathalyzer for guests to use at my home to ensure their safety if they drink. My BAC - .023 , my wife's was .024 obviously not intoxicated. Shame on M on High for such poor judgement and embarrassing their patrons. Avoiding this restaurant is going to be so easy as there's a plethora of good restaurants in the area. This is my experience, the Good, the Bad and, The UGLY.
