We've only been for breakfast and early afternoon so far, but I can absolutely see why this place gets such great reviews. The food is delicious, beautifully presented, and the atmosphere is such a pleasant surprise. It has a classy, understated automotive vibe with a beautiful bar and a comfortable, welcoming dining area. The French toast was fantastic! I really enjoyed Hozy's overall and will definitely give it another try. The atmosphere has a great small-town feel while still being elegant and inviting, which I really liked. I was dining alone and sat at the bar. It was extremely busy, but Antonia, the bartender, was absolutely killing it. She was nonstop the entire time and clearly doing her best to keep up with everyone, so I definitely want to give her credit. Because it was so busy, it did take a while to get a drink, and my bread came out with my meal. I ordered the filet trio and thought the flavors were really good, but I asked for my steak medium and it came out well done. I was a little disappointed, but I'm not someone who likes to send food back, so I gave it a chance anyway. Another patron mentioned that it isn't normally that busy, so I'm thinking I may have just caught them on an unusually hectic night. We go here for dinner on special occasions and have been pretty satisfied with our meals. With apps & alcohol, it can definitely be an expensive meal. But we have enjoyed our dinner entrees and had a nice experience. So, we have been many times. However, we have also ordered lunch & breakfast &, again, it's pretty pricey but honestly not as satisfying as dinner. The breakfasts are pretty good- have had some nice omelettes. As far as lunch is concerned- I feel disappointed. There was a picture of the fish tacos on yelp that looked good, so I decided to try them for lunch. It was not at all what was pictured. The fish was so so so dry, large clumps of american cheddar and just not any good flavor. Plus- they were $19. For a $19 quick lunch-I just want to enjoy my meal. I have had better fish tacos at Foster's Freeze, to be honest. I dont imagine myself coming here for lunch again. read more

Hozy's is fabulous in every way. We came for breakfast with friends at their recommendation and we were not in the least bit disappointed. Our waitresses, Adriana and Julianna, were adorable, sweet, friendly and accommodating. They took our orders promptly and checked on us regularly. We felt like we were treated as family. Everyone at our table ordered something different. I had a veggie egg white omelette with potatoes, peppers and onions and it was so delicious! Hozy's is a little hidden gem! We had breakfast this morning with some friends and I have to say there are a lot of choices for breakfast. I was told by Adrianna that the popular dish is the Huevos Rancheros with the Chile verde sauce. I went with her recommendation and it was great. Lots of flavor and huge portions. The restaurant hidden in the industrial area and is spacious and very clean. They have plenty of seating inside and an outside patio. My only suggestion is to get an espresso machine. It's nice to have a latte with breakfast. They only do old school coffee and no flavor creamers. Other than that, Hozy's is a great ! Our servers were Adrianna and Julianna. It's not just cuz I'm a local but this place is amazing they're ham and spinach omelette with a side of Chile Verde is the best. You can't go wrong with an arp sandwich or a chicken pasta. I have all the photos but they don't do it justice this food is amazing. The only problem with Hozys is why do the staff have the logo and name of another company owned by the same person. He must really take pride in his company to open up a nice restaurant and have a cool name like Hozys , but plaster his other establishment all over the uniforms and coffee mugs! Tucked away in a non-descript industrial park, Hozy's Grill is a very pleasant surprise. The room has a quiet and sophisticated look and vibe and there's an outdoor eating area if the weather's nice. There's also a (full) bar area with seating. A minor quibble: the chairs in the dining room don't slide very easily on the tiled floor, and this might be a bit annoying. The food was tasty and the service was pleasant and professional. Prices are what you'd expect to pay and good enough value, especially if you share food (as we do). If you're looking for a place to eat while traveling through Santa Paula give Hozy's a try, for sure! read more

We have been wanting to try Hozy's since we moved back in January and our dear friend treated us to lunch last Thursday. She ordered take out ahead so we could meet up at our place for lunch. My hubby picked it up, cheeseburgers and fries with coleslaw for us and a green salad for our friend. My hubby said the restaurant is set up for fine dining as well as casual. We heard the brunch was amazing so we all agreed next time we'll all go enjoy what they have to offer at the restaurant next time. Our friend gobbled her salad and ate our fries. The cheeseburgers were huge with fresh toppings and I believe home made dill pickles. The slaw was crisp and not over dressed. What can I say, this place is so stinking good. Hidden away in an industrial complex, when you walk in you are transformed to a lovely oasis. We had reservations for 2 of us at 5pm and when we arrived there was a line at the door of people waiting to get in. We ordered abalone (farm raised because it is illegal to catch them in the ocean). Oh boy was it good (and expensive) and worth it. It came with a perfect classic beurre blanc sauce (so good I wanted to lick the he plate but did not do that) and some sliced tomatoes. It was lightly breaded with seemed to be like a tempura batter. The veggie rice was really good, tender, creamy and so tasty. We had asparagus (good but typical and we heard afterward you can request them grilled) and lovely heirloom carrots cooked perfectly, tender but firm with a light butter sauce. The bread is yummy, not homemade but sure seems like it. We started with shrimp cocktails which came with 3 large shrimp. I recently came here for dinner on a Thursday night with a fairly large group and we all had the best of time. I got the halibut and my husband got the Thai pork chop which were both tasty. But the winner of the show were all the desserts and wine/pina colada! Their sushi appetizer was so fresh, I couldn't believe it. It just literally melts in your mouth! The tart that took 20 mins came out in 15 mins and was a star meal. Also loved the French toast which is normally a breakfast item. This is my third time to this restaurant and have always wanted to try their fried chicken. All the previous times, the food was amazing. Service was great, I sat at the bar and was greeted quickly by a friendly server. I ordered the white meat fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. I guess it was an off day for the fried chicken. The skin was bland and the meat was a little over cooked. I did make it work with the gravy on my mashed potatoes. So all in all it was great. Stopped by Friday night without a reservation knowing it was probably gonna be a wait since they were busy, but the lady with glasses behind the bar was really nice and helped us out. She told us to give her a few minutes and ended up getting us a booth which we really appreciated. Liz took care of us all night and was super attentive. Drinks were great, food was amazing, and the homemade apple tartin with vanilla ice cream was honestly the perfect ending. Such a good experience overall. I went there looking for breakfast, and I ended up finding an unconventional breakfast item. The place is set up very nice, clean, with a bunch of pictures on the walls of racing cars. I learned from the woman Bartender, who was very sweet, that the owner also owns a fastening warehouse next-door who originally opened this restaurant for the workers. I got the chili Verde eggs meal for breakfast, and I wasn't able to finish the whole plate. The portion size was huge, and I should've had them hold the refried beans, hashbrowns, and tortillas. All I could eat was the chili Verde and the eggs. So beware their portion sizes are huge! The chilly Verde and eggs had great spicy flavor I will remember. I was informed that they had the best chili Verde in the town of Santa Paula. I believe it. I ordered on the side, a jalapeño, and the chefs made it the right way. It was a fresh jalapeño that they sautéed so the spice added to the flavor of the chili Verde and eggs. A+. Would go back there again and highly recommend to anyone. read more

My boyfriend and I used to really enjoy coming here, but this last visit was incredibly disappointing. The service was poor, and our server, Julianna, came across as rude and unprofessional. When I asked a simple question about the menu, she went over to the hostess and appeared to mock me, which was completely inappropriate. I also asked for a side of regular butter with my waffles, but instead received something with a strange, almost melted-then-frozen texture that was not appetizing, especially since not everyone enjoys walnuts in their butter. To make matters worse, there were flies everywhere, making it hard to enjoy our meal. When it came time to pay, Julianna avoided our table and kept walking back and forth without checking in. My boyfriend eventually had to go up to the front to settle the bill, and even then, when he tried to politely wish her a good day, she cut her eyes at him and went back to her phone. Overall, the experience was frustrating, and unfortunately, this kind of service reflects poorly on the establishment. People like this have no business in the service industry. read more

This is a place that serves such good food. I have had the huevos rancheros a couple of times and the chicken fried steak with gravy and mashed potatoes. Love this place. Frequented for years. Unfortunately the waitresses now have power to refuse patio service. We were set to sit outside on Mother's Day, and we were told our server could not help any more patrons in the patio. Mind you, it wasn't busy. And we were told before that our table was almost ready. I believe the manager Tonya refused to wait on us. I have a new favorite restaurant......but I'm not sure I want to tell you about it......you might start going there and then I won't be able to get my preferred timeslot and booth as well as our favorite server Liz.......okay, I guess I'll risk having to compromise future reservation availability and share our experience from last night. My wife and I went to Hozy's Grill last night with some great friends who had been wanting to go there for years. It was a bit of a ride there from Oxnard. Perhaps it was foreshadowing but our Uber driver raved about it on the way there. Talk about a set-up! The vibe inside reminded me of a small-town family establishment, casual and comfortable. It was obvious some of the patrons and staff knew each other well, repeat business is always a good sign! Our bartender Tona served the girls Hazy's special raspberry lemon drops, the boys had traditional martini's. They were great and we were off to a fantastic start. Let's now add our server Liz into the picture. She knows the menu inside and out and delivered the mix of specials and standard fare with an exuberant level of enthusiasm. So many intriguing options! The plates passing by us to other tables as we were deciding only added to the burden of narrowing our decision. As first-time diners, Liz guided us to the finish line. Seriously, the prime rib was the best I have ever had! Amazing flavor, a generous portion and perfect presentation. The filet trio also received rave reviews. Liz picked a Napa cabernet to go with the meal, they have an impressive wine list and their prices are incredibly reasonable. She also gave us the 20 minute heads up needed to prepare the peach cobbler for dessert and it slayed. Liz topped off the evening with coffee and a world-renowned sipping tequila. I can't wait to go back! I hope they have the abalone with the beurre blanc sauce. The fried chicken, Shepherds pie and lamb looked inviting as well. To summarize, the vibe is perfect for a fun and relaxed evening. The food, cocktails and wine were amazing. The added value however is clearly Liz and the staff, they took the dining experience to a special elevated level. We are enthusiastically planning our next visit. The ambiance is inviting and kid-friendly with a race car theme and I love it! I loved everything about this place. I absolutely recommend Hozy's Grill, the Belgian Waffles and the fresh squeezed Orange Juice. It was so pretty at Hozy's and I will definitely come back to this place.
