We were given a small bag, half full of chips for 12 dinners.
Patti W.

We had a large party to serve. and because they don't take reservations, we decided to order food as takeout. The food was ok. There were 12 dinners ordered. One of the orders was the California shrimp, and it was more of a soup than what I had ordered in the past. We were only given a very small bag of chips to share. Everyone there seem to be very friendly and kind, but I think I'm going to stick with the Oxnard restaurant. The food seems to be better there.

I've given this place 3 chances. This food is TERRIBLE. Bean dip / chorizo dip had no flavor. My pastor tacos tasted and looked like they were leftovers, reheated. The carne in the burrito tasted the same. The meat tasted dry. Chips brought out were literal mini chips (bottom of the bag, unable to scoop salsa). Crunchy taco was inedible. Server saw we didn't touch any of our food and brought the bill. Will not be coming back.

This is a great place to grab some brunch , they have a great menu for drinks and food !! I usually order the tortilla soup , very very good , chile relleno is also a great choice , my hubby ordered the chicken tacos vert tasty , over all service is always perfect . Our server took forever to bring us our bill not sure why , the place was empty .. over all I loved the back ground music and the quiet

I'm hooked on the mini chimis. I can go and just eat these with some chips and salsa and call it a day. This restaurant is pretty nice and clean whenever I go. Perfect place when you have a large group. The service is always friendly too, no matter how many refills I ask for, I'm talking about refills on chips and salsa of course. I usually come around lunch and I love that they're never a long wait. Even when they're busy.

SINGLE FAJITAS STEAK & SHRIMP COMBO

To start when I walked in I saw a salsa bar. The salsa tasted amazing. We got a free bean dip. It tasted pretty good, I would recommend getting it. I got the chicken fajitas to eat and I recommend getting them also. I'm traveling here and this is probably the best place I've eaten at so far. The service was amazing, our server John, was great and the manager Frankie was very personable and he had a good sense of humor. The table, I sat at had a beautiful painting of white lilies and hummingbirds, which was amazing. The whole vibe of the restaurant was immaculate. This is probably the best Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. Obviously I will rate this a five stars.

Carne Asada Burrito with Grilled Chicken and served wet with green sauce

Yolanda's has been a staple in our family since 1985. The staff are all fantastic and we love George especially because he used to make my mother-in-law feel so special. We go for the consistent quality of the food and the salsa bar but we also appreciate the warm, welcoming family atmosphere. Yolandas serves up the perfect margarita- the Cadillac and the chips and salsa are still free unlike other places in town. My favorite comfort food is the Carne asada burrito with chicken served wet with green sauce- Tip: order it with a Togo box because you're going to eat the whole thing unless you stash half in the box before you get started! You're Welcome!! My husbands favorite order is the Chicken Villas without the mushrooms and the chicken is so flavorful and tender. If we go for lunch, I'll stick with the Chicken Tostada because I don't want to be in a food coma! Their tacos are also a favorite and my father-in-law loved their enchiladas and he didn't even like Mexican food but he sure loved their enchiladas! Yolanda's is also an excellent choice for a large party because the staff is on top of their game here. Highly Recommend!

Where do I begin!! Our server was Abel. He's the best. I got quesadillas tacos, the chicken was great! I love the paintings on the wallz. The fajitas be sizzlin! Ambiance=abuela's house. The dimmed lighting is nice. We'll be back.

Are the refried beans vegetarian? Or do they have a vegetarian option for beans?

The refried beans are cooked with lard. They do have whole pinto beans that are vegetarian.

How about now? Are they open yet? As of 4/3:17?

No. I used to work there and they let us know with 2-3 months advance they were closing. I emailed the main office a few days ago and i spoke to a woman who replied to me saying that Yolanda's would re-open sometime in June. I didn't get to ask why… Read more

Are they open yet?

I just called corporate, was advised even though they were hoping to open Spring 2017, it looks more like it'll be the begininning of June. I was assured it'll be worth the wait.

Our server was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the oysters, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. Started with oysters. The Morro Bay oysters were definitely my favorite. Buttery, clean, and super easy to eat. 5/5. We also tried another variety that the server described as more briny and oceany, which ended up not really being my thing, but I appreciated the honest recommendation beforehand. The New England clam chowder was great. Rich, creamy, comforting, and they offered fresh ground pepper to your liking at the table which was a nice touch. 5/5. I ordered the cod fish and chips and the cod itself was excellent. Light crispy batter, flaky fish, not greasy at all. Definitely the standout entrée for me. 5/5. The dill horseradish sauce was also fantastic and paired perfectly with the fish. 5/5. Only disappointment of the meal was the fries. They came out soft and soggy instead of crispy. Ate maybe 3 fries and left the rest behind. 1/5 on those unfortunately. One thing worth mentioning: my friend paid the tab and always leaves a flat 10% tip no matter what. The service here deserved much more than that, so I ended up leaving extra cash on the table because our server genuinely did a great job. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Ventura.

GETTING HERE:…read more Ventura Crab N Spice is located a few doors down from The Habit on Telephone in Ventura. The footprint is the Winco shopping center. REVIEW: First timer here (what.) and it was so good! Quiet, not too busy on the day we went (during the week). I remember in my baby years of Yelp I used to note that a restaurant was "good" if it was busy. Post-shutdown and currently 2026, it's OK to me if it's ghost town inside. :) We ordered the Clam Chowder Bowl and Sweet Potato Fries. GREAT! The chowder had nice flavor and was thick, and the clam pieces were tasty. The bread was warm and soft, so full of flavor. Service was good. Love the vibe inside, too. Love the decor and the entire vibe. As much as I love seafood, I can't wait to go back to try their other menu items. Thank you for a great meal. Highly recommend!

There was no wait, and we stood there for about 10 minutes without being helped. Finally, a waitress came over around 8:05 PM and told us they were closed at 8 and couldn't seat us. That doesn't make sense--if you close at 8, you should still be seating guests before that time, especially when they've been waiting and there's no line. The lack of communication and basic customer service was frustrating and unprofessional. It wasn't about the timing it was about how it was handled. Standing there with no acknowledgment and then being turned away last minute is just bad service. Definitely not the experience we expected.

The restaurant has a really cute Mediterranean/Italian vibe with gorgeous lemon trees and comfy patio seating. It was chilly outside, but the heaters made it comfortable. Staff was friendly, just very busy because of the holiday. Food took around an hour, but understandable for Mother's Day. The food was excellent. I got the flatbread with apricot jam and bacon, and it was such a good mix of sweet and savory with fresh arugula on top. Definitely recommend it. My boyfriend got the wagyu burger medium with fries and everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. Other people at our table got shrimp and corn, fish tacos, and burgers, and everything looked really good. Great place, will come back

Great bar setup, relaxed atmosphere, and a fun, lively environment without feeling overwhelming. The service was super friendly -- the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. Now the food... excellent across the board. The fish and chips were battered perfectly -- light, crispy, and packed with flavor. Not greasy, just done right. My son ordered the carne asada tacos and couldn't stop talking about how good they were. He loved the seasoning and the flavor. I had the ahi burger, and it was cooked perfectly -- great texture, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. My wife ordered the original fish tacos, and they were outstanding. Fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and great quality overall. One thing we really appreciated was the three different house sauces they offer. Each one was excellent and totally changes the experience depending on your palate. Whether you like something sweet, spicy, or slightly tangy to balance everything out, they've got you covered. It's a nice touch that lets everyone customize their meal. You can really taste the freshness in everything. We did arrive a little late, so we weren't able to dine in but based on looks it's a really quiet place where I'd be a nice date place., the guy working there was so nice and encouraged us to order to go -- which we gladly did. We ordered a little bit of everything: shrimp, clams, crab legs, and all the sides. The only thing they didn't have was eggs, which is a little sad because a seafood boil with eggs is just top tier. But let me tell you... the flavor made up for it completely. Everything was so rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The whole time we were eating we just kept saying how good it was and how much flavor everything had. It was a total hit! We got so much food and the price honestly wasn't bad at all. I can truly say this is wayyyyy better than Boiling Crab, no doubt. I already can't wait to come back this weekend for round two -- and this time I definitely want to eat inside to get the full experience. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone who loves a good seafood boil!

Open since 1981, this local staple has been around a long time (and in this economy) impressive! I've always walked right past this spot but somehow ended up next door getting tacos or simply walking down the pier for the views, I truly didn't realize how fabulous this lowkey restaurant is. When you walk inside you order at a counter, so it's semi casual in that way but otherwise, everything about this place feels "wow" because your getting 5-star restaurant views of the ocean while paying $$ (reasonable). I picked a cute little short bar style seat which essentially was "premium seating" overlooking the beach and the ocean and honestly, it doesn't get much better than this. The staff from start to finish were super nice and welcoming. They had a solid kitchen team so the food was all made fresh to order but came out quick, making this a solid spot for a quick lunch break. The gentlemen taking my order was friendly and helpful when I had questions and needed recommendations. If you're looking for alcohol, they have a separate counter/bar where you pay & they take your drink order. The bartender there was lovely as well. Nice people, 5/5 service. The food was honestly fantastic and rivals any other seafood spot in the area. I'd also give the food, Portions and presentation a 5/5 as well. Here's what I ordered: Mai Tai - Boozy, fruity, and basically a vacation in a glass. I'd recommend this cocktail if you want something strong but fruity. Popcorn Shrimp - Crispy, flavorful little bites with that southern-style batter that I love. I subbed out the cocktail sauce to pair it with their tartar sauce & that choice was chef's kiss. (Tatar sauce over cocktail all day everyday). Ahi Tuna Taco (staff recommendation) - Light, fresh, and LOADED. Super fresh seared ahi, crunchy veggies, and an addictive wasabi sauce. Oysters - Freshly shucked and you can't leave without ordering a dozen...or two. Their rotation of what type of oysters they have does change regularly I think I read but when I came in the smaller west coast oysters were great. Meals like this remind me why living here feels like paradise. There's a reason these long time local favorites stand the test of time and it's important that we continue to support them so they'll be around for another 40 years! Cheers to Eric Ericssons, definitely a highlight meal for me this year.
