Review: La Bahia (Downtown Oxnard) Rating: 10/10 Now this is what Caldo de Res should look and taste like! The broth is flavorful and clear, and the vegetables are cooked to perfection. It's exactly the kind of authentic, comforting meal you hope for. To top it off, the service is excellent--Veronica is a top-notch server who really takes care of her guests. If you're in Downtown Oxnard and looking for a great meal with even better service, this is it! read more

I love ceviche, so when someone tells me that a place has delicious ceviche, I'm in! So when we popped in for ceviche and were served ... this, we could not have been more disappointed. This is salad with a few pieces of fish. It is NOT ceviche. Also, it wasn't very good. Lacked flavor and lacking in the citrusy taste that ceviche is known for. Meh. Ambiance is virtually nonexistent (it looks like a diner), and service is fine (nothing special). I wouldn't return. read more

It's what's in the inside that counts. This place has been right off Saviers Road for Years!! I've passed it several times. Taking my Grandparents out for Breakfast they said this was their favorite place! To my surprise the waitress knew them!! Greeted and seated she knew exactly what they ordered & brought out a special salsa that they love. At first glance this restaurant is old, probably could use an update. Interior is nothing special. Several booths and tables. But it's clean and well lit! Large windows looking out to Saviers Blvd. I can tell you without a doubt my meal was great! My review is not for my meal. More so for the experience of seeing how my (very senior) Grandparents were treated and how much they enjoyed their time here. They laughed and talked with the waitress like old friends. I will definitely come back here. You really can't find anything like this place anymore. read more

Been coming here for years with my family. We always go for breakfast and I used to always eat the chorizo and eggs when I was younger but now I usually get the huevos bajia which is pretty good. This time I tried the Plato Bahia and was pretty good too. read more

This has become my go-to spot on Saturday mornings! For years, I kept saying, "I need to stop by," and I'm so glad I finally did. I've been coming every Saturday for the past month and a half. It has that warm, "down-home" feel--great service, a laid-back family atmosphere, and friendly smiles all around. The food? It tastes just like something your abuelita would make! read more

I Have had their menudo, my favorite huevos Bahia, and some other breakfast items along with my family. they started offering dinner recently and that was good as well. Food was delicious. Service was friendly. We felt like we had crashed the Sunday regulars though. The atmosphere was very community-like and families. It felt like each group were sitting at their regular table. It was packed when we arrived. There was one table available and we were happy to get it. Soccer (Netherlands vs Germany) was on the TV above the bar. Everything we ordered had nice flavor. It was fresh and piping hot. The margarita was the best I've had in a long time. I'm not a huge fan of them, but when in Rome. It wasn't too sweet or too strong. The ingredients were very well balanced. When we left out yesterday, we didn't know where the afternoon was going to take us. We're psyched Bahia wound up on our path. read more

Don't let the setting fool you, this spot is not your typical mexican food diner! The service is amazing and has superb attention to detail. I've had more coffee offered today than during my lifetime at other places. I ordered the breakfast special with a couple of eggs, crispy bacon strips, hash browns and a side of pork simmered in Chile Verde and a grilled jalapeño pepper just to add to the mix. This place doesn't disappoint, the orange juice was freshly squeezed and the coffee was hot! This is flavor, quality, and detail all in one. read more

We have been going to Bahia for years. Family owed and just amazing staff. Huevos Bahia are hands down my favorite breakfast. We made our mom mad when we said Bahia mole was our favorite. I stand by that vote years later. Their take out service is fast and order always complete & all the needed extras have never been forgotten. I am sure we have eaten everything on the menu and nothing ever disappoints. It's just a comfortable place to eat well whether you go alone or in a group. You will leave satisfied & not broke. Enjoy! read more

I have been there many times in the past. Food was ok then, but this time I was embarrassed for them. I ordered the chorizo plate. Upon arriving with the plate, I asked the waitress does this look right to you? The beans were way over cooked the cheese was even burnt, the rice was lumpy white rice (maybe to save on tomato sauce?), the chorizo had chunks of other "meats" in it (I'd guess to save on the chorizo). Her only comment was we don't serve the other rice (Mexican rice) on weekends. It will be a long time until I go back there, if I ever do. read more

Bahis del Mar..... NO street tacos here, though they do have a carne asada plate the menu is probably 90% Seafood. Looking over the menu they start you off with Chips & Salsa http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6MVNY28QP7cdUsJ8SoM9A?select=NuAoZEmDDGgaDWTYoUWCKg the chips were pretty good but the salsa was mild and not all that flavorful, the Wife had a couple Pina Colada's http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6MVNY28QP7cdUsJ8SoM9A?select=Uds1VlMRFQMf8FnoYnw2rg she said they were good and had plenty of Rum. 5-Stars Camaron Empanizado - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6MVNY28QP7cdUsJ8SoM9A?select=pcXlBg5cMH2sAkev2FYhCA Breaded and fried shrimp, Rice, Beans, shrimp were large http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6MVNY28QP7cdUsJ8SoM9A?select=5XdZZCqIv38hBvmMDkX2tg and cooked very nicely http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/M6MVNY28QP7cdUsJ8SoM9A?select=X-a6vAP_MpZHugCBBeQpLA beans were good, rice I didn't touch it. 4-Stars Based off the food I had and the menu selection Bahia del Mar is a pretty solid spot!. read more

We love Bajia. They have good food at good prices and the service is always good. My husband usually gets the menudo which is $7 and they will refill as much as you want. He had 3 bowls one time!! I love the Huevos Bajia, which is chile verde and eggs served with rice and beans....sooo good. The chips are okay and I agree that the salsa is just so-so, but I find that I don't really mind that much. When my husband is hankering for some Menudo this is where we go. Always a favorite. My dad would always bring me here since I was a teenager. 15 years later the food is still great and the price is very low for the quality of food! I always get the enchiladas and huevos a la mejicana for breakfast! Margaritas are legit too!! read more

I used to really love this place. Let it go on record that they do have very flavorful food. Best refried beans in town. The food is hands down yummy. The prices and restrooms not so much. Today they wanted to charge $15.99 for four chicken enchiladas a la carte. C'mon that's robbery. Lol. That just ain't right. So of course I asked the waitress why were they so expensive. I said "$16 for four tortillas? Really? I proceeded to ask "how much is the combo? And she replied that it was $12.99 pshhhh..... give me the combo then. Anyhow I've been going here for more than 10 years. I have never been as disappointed as I was today. Here's the restroom situation. In order to flush the toilet, you have to stick your hand into the tank and pull the little lever. They've even left the top cover lid off so you can do it. By the side of the toilet there's a big trash can where you dump your toilet paper. For one it smells bad and second, you see the toilet paper with feces on it. It's just disgusting. If you're going to want to charge $16 for four green chicken enchiladas, your restrooms need to be clean and in service. These bathrooms have been in this condition for more than four months. It's going downhill. I hope they fix those bathrooms before they call the health department on them. read more

What a good find! My girlfriend and I were on our way home from picking berries when we found this place. We were hungry and wanted to eat something, but something decent... This place had some of the best ceviche I've had in a long, long time. The service was really great and the staff were all smiles. The food was good and simple. I hate mariscos places that get too fancy. This place kept it simple. If you're in the area, check them out! read more

Sorry, I don't understand how you can mess up Mexican food this bad. But yesterday they did. I should have known from the table,, it was dirty,, yet they sat us there. The waitress instead of moving things and wiping down, she only wiped down at the end of the table...I think we were just so happy to eat in a restaurant and were so so hungry.. To start the chips tasted stale. The chile rellenos had no flavor at all? The table salsa was just ok but very salty. The beans very salty. The rice had no flavor? The hard tacos were like taco bell type. It takes one second to cook a hard taco, I couldn't believe it. The food came out lukewarm. It was really bad. The only good thing was the service. read more
