Authentic Mexican restaurant located in Downtown Oxnard. My dad typically brings us menudo from this spot. Of course every person has their own sabor / taste so for some this may not be their spot and that's ok . It's been around for over 30 years so it appears many enjoy it :) Service was quick and friendly. I have two fried eggs , refried beans and handmade tortillas. To drink a coffee. Clean and a small spot. They definitely have customers that frequent this restaurant every single day. read more

Came here one morning and had a delicious Carne Asada Burrito and a Agua De Horchata. The Burrito was big and full and had a great flavor. Had great customer service from the staff and they were very nice. I would definitely come back. Give them a try if you're in the area. Plenty of parking in the parking lot and in the street. read more

Solid meals. Warm and homey atmosphere. Some of the best enmoladas and menudo I've ever had. They make their tortillas fresh by hand and the coffee they serve has a nice hint of cinnamon. Every meal I've had here tastes like a home cooked meal. Completely unpretentious and refreshing compared to places like Los Agaves or Lalo's. If you don't speak Spanish please be patient and show respect to the staff. This place is sacred to me and deserves your business. read more

Was in the mood for some chilaquiles and was told about this little whole on the wall, PERFECT, my FAVORITE! Walked in, good ambiance and you could smell the great food! My chilaquiles were awesome, exactly what i wanted, with eggs, and meat, even the meat was super tasteful. The beans? Like grandma made them special for you! The service was cool, the young girl at the counter was super nice and helpful. After we ate took forever to get the bill. Overall, i liked it and will go aga read more

I would give a 0 star if I could. The food is amazing but the customer service is through the floor. If you dont like something, you will be charged. When asked why I was being charged for a drink that I didn't like, I was not given a clear answer. Next, I asked for a manager she said she was it then proceeded to say she was the owner, but the nice man that also works there said not to charge the item, which begs to say is she really the "owner"? I didn't need the rudeness and the roll of the eyes, or the attitude and being told "you are old". That is not how a business is run. My family and I have kept coming back because the food, authentic! But when an "owner" speaks to the customers so rudely over a question as to WHY I'm being charged for something that did not taste good and then getting rolled eyes. I tip depending on service, I have tipped up to 25%, this time it was $0. Be careful when going here, the manager should never have a verbal fight with a customer. It's bad for service and ultimately, it's their business that will fall to the ground. read more

Menudo was okay but everything else that I got was amazing. This was by far the best, most flavorful costillas I've ever had in Oxnard. Ordered the albondigas and fish soup to go and they were super tasty. Love the homemade tortillas that they offered read more

So we came here because of the reviews and it was tantalizing. I brought my father. 85 year old man craving Menudo. So we both had it. The service spot on, we were immediately sat by a beautiful girl. Wish I remembered her name. Anyhow the menudo was brought right away. 2-3 min tops. Plenty of onion, lemons, and oregano and even fresh cilantro. My father said it was "desabrido." In other words it was tasteless. Now in my opinion it was ok. It was a very large bowl, generous to say the least, paid $20 each. There are better establishments in oxnard you can try. Refer to my other reviews. I do recall the guy who had a convincing review that he goes there every night he binges on some special fluids. So his taste buds must be suboptimal after a hangover. I need to try other things on the menu but that is why I gave it a 3 start. It wasn't a horrible experience but I wasn't wowed, especially my father. He only ate a 1/3 of it. read more

I don't recommend this place, super unclean and the menudo is not that great had a strange piece of meat inside of mine that didn't belong in with the rest of the meat, They had this plate outside with lemon, onion and cilantro but it stayed on the table through out everybody switching and everyone use the same onions and lemons... looked dry and I'm sure people coughed and touched everything in that plate including flies being in there. Im not one to rate things but if it's nasty I have to call it out so many flies in here can't really eat In peace read more

The service is horrible it's run by Hispanic and trust me I'm Mexican myself ... when you're a cook your self you know how good should be and also look .. you don't sit here and try your argue with the customers specially when you know the customer comes here for years and knew the original owner . Yea when under new ownership yes everything might change but this place has changed a lot specially with them not knowing how to give the customer a well service . read more

Best menudo in town hands down. Each time i go out... that same night while I'm drinking I'm already thinking about the menudo I'll be having Sunday morning. always look forward for the fresh, big portion food at this place... if you're second guessing this place. Do your self a favor and don't. Just come try it out. Authentic Mexican food with the Doñas in the back cooking. read more

I come here at least once a week. Keep an eye for the daily specials that are different takes on Mexican comfort foods. Weekends they make their famous Menudo. During the week its one of the only places you can get any type of caldo. My fave thing here is their custom quesadillas since they make their own tortillas they are super fresh and tasty. Place is small or hole in the wall ish but normally you know this type of place where its kinda of run down the food bout to be fire. read more

Good eats from this "casual" spot. Docked a star only because of aesthetics re furniture & bathroom cleanliness. They have booth seating or table 4-top. Free parking conveniently right outside their front door or in the adjacent public parking. The food is prepared very fresh and with lots of flavor. A excellent source tells me that the menudo line on Sunday is long- that should say something! Wait staff are friendly. Good portions- well served, and on many occasions, generous enough to share, or doggie bag. It seems that the meals come with hand made corn tortillas too. I usually get their fish soup to go: it's good and pretty consistent in flavor. The restaurant "meal of the day" are usually posted on their white board. Very much like coming home to mama's cooking... read more

Nice, sit-down place. Cozy and warm. A waitress came to the table and brought a menu. I asked about two of the specials: Cecina and Chulado de Puerco and she brought us samples to taste. We ordered a carne asada and shredded beef burritos. They came on a plate with a small salad. Rice, meat and cilantro inside of a fresh tortilla. The rice wasn't anything special and the meat didn't have a particularly memorable flavor, but for $3.99 it's a good deal. read more

La Placita has excellent costumer service, the food is great. I usually get the Caldo de Pollo (Chicken Soup) with home made corn tortillas. La Güera who I believed to be the owner always greets every costumer with a great smile and she's always willing to help out. It's located in the center of the city and has good parking. The only thing its that during the summer it can get very hot in there. But besides that, everything else it's excellent. If you pay with cash it will make it faster when you're checking out. read more
