I had a bit of a longer lunch break a few weeks back so I decided to try this place because it was close to my next client. I ordered a chile verde burrito and an agua Fresca. The burrito was good. The pork was tender and the chile verde had a good flavor. I wish the ratio of the pork to fillings was a bit more. The pork was cubed and I felt like I would reach a piece of meat every 3 bites. The salsa bar had several choices ranging from mild to hot. I got a red chile and a green salsa. I really like the red one which was a medium heat. The agua fresca was delicious and refreshing. There were a lot of locals eating here for lunch and you could tell by people saying hello to the staff or others to indict they were acquaintances. read more

we ordered the "Alambre con Queso" , unfortunately, we received a very poor rendition of this classic dish: very little cheese, not even fully melted, onions that were almost raw, not caramelized, and a stack of tortillas that got cold in few minutes because not even an aluminum foil was provided to keep them warm. I've been coming here for years, always 5 star food and service! Love their unique plates, that you can make your own tacos. Very good portions as well. Don't skip on their medium sauce. It's amazing in every dish. They also have a a sauce bar so you're able to try all 3 sauces. Add a plate of chips and your dining experience will be awesome! read more

And i just called i was very calm and nice about it i just wanted they to know it so they know what they are cooking and serving is not right and the lady told me that everything is so expensive and the now on this how the food is going to be i understand the situation everything so much expensive but the way that they treat a customer is not right at all . Despite a plethora of Mexican restaurants throughout Oxnard, only a few deliver good quality authentic dishes on a consistent basis. Taqueria Cuernavaca is one of them! Today's visit included the Mole Enchiladas plate and the taco combo #1 with shredded chicken. The mole sauce is a nice blend of sweet chocolate flavor with cinnamon and chile taste. For those with roots in Morelos/Puebla, it'll taste like abuelita's mole poblano. Rice and beans are nicely portioned, with the beans served inside a tortilla shell to add a nice touch of crispiness. The taco combo 1 is simple but a solid portion for $9.99, coming with the full sides of rice and refried beans. Their orange salsa adds a nice spiciness without numbing your mouth for the entire meal, with flavors of chipotles and chile de arbol. Decent amount of seating inside and outside, with a full salsa bar as well if you like to add usual fixins (onion, cilantro, habanero salsa, etc.) Big thank you to the staff as well for always saying hi to my little brother whenever we dine in. Cuernavaca is usually a solid choice for us, so I'm not sure what happened this time. My chile relleno was tough, and whatever sauce was supposed to be on it was mostly oil. The chicharrón verde taco was also extremely dry. They really need to improve their packaging for delivery--by the time the food arrived, the tortillas were soggy, breaking apart, and all the tacos were packed together, which made the steam situation even worse. On the positive side, my daughter loved the rice and beans, and my husband said his burrito was delicious. I really wanted to enjoy my meal too, but overall I was disappointed with my order this time. read more

The service and food were amazing! Hands down the best carne asada I've had! I came in at 10am and I had to ask for a special plate for breakfast. The gentleman I spoke to was very accommodating. I'm diabetic and my blood glucose was very high that morning so I couldn't have any carbs so I asked for an Asada plate with eggs and avocado. It was soooo good! Definitely will be back! read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. The older blonde lady (in the photo) was incredibly rude from the beginning and had a nasty attitude the entire time. When we became upset over how we were being treated, she actually laughed at us instead of trying to resolve the situation, which was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. A kid at our table accidentally spilled a small amount of salsa, and we immediately started cleaning it up ourselves. Even though we were handling it, she still came over with an attitude instead of showing any patience or understanding. To make matters worse, the horchata was watered down, and my order was made incorrectly. I specifically asked for no avocado because I'm allergic to it, but it was still added to my food. When I politely pointed out the mistake and asked for a new one, she acted irritated and gave me even more attitude instead of apologizing for a mistake involving a food allergy. Between the rude behavior, laughing at us when we were upset, the poor customer service, and the careless mistake with my allergy, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. The food here is good, and that's the only reason I came back as many times as I did. I've been here at least seven times and even supported them with a party/catering order before. Unfortunately, the service has repeatedly been rude, and this last visit was upsetting. On my last visit, I waited about 20 minutes for my food and started serving myself some salsa. Three different staff members were rude to me, and I was yelled at for serving myself salsa. I apologized right away, but the way I was spoken to made me feel embarrassed and unwelcome. Later, after already paying about $25 for my plate, I asked for green sauce and was told I had to pay extra and buy at least half a pound. I'm not criticizing the food. I'm saying the customer service needs work. I don't feel comfortable coming back, and that's disappointing because the food is good. I work hard for my money, and no customer should be made to feel small or disrespected over something that could have been explained politely. read more

Cuernavaca has been a favorite for so long but my last two visits the food quality has deteriorated significantly. I ordered a chicken soup and the vegetable was rubbery. You can find a lot of different Taqueria type spots in the Oxnard area. I have been to this location a number of times and I think it is one of the tops. When I come here it's all about the tacos for me. So many choices and they are small enough to try any and all. I normally always get Asada, topped with their orange salsa is the best. I really like them. This visit we got some Asada tacos of course, so much flavor, really well done. Also, got the Al pastor and grilled pollo tacos. The Al Pastor was very good, flavor and texture was on point. I will say I was a little disappointed in the grilled pollo, it was a bit dry, but could have been an off day, I would think these would be perfected serving them day in and day out. The service is quick, order and pay at the front counter, then you seat yourself while you wait. I like the paintings around the restaurant. They have a self service salsa bar, get the orange habanero one, nice spice and flavor. They also have self service drinks which is great. They have a good amount of seats inside and they also have a small outdoor seating area. Check them out, great tacos and so much more. Enjoy! read more

One of the very few delicious authentic Mexican food restaurants in Ventura County. The food is amazing and the salsa variety is great as well. Ian is great, always welcoming, friendly, and professional. The shrimp burritos (regular or spicy) are delicious so I would most definitely recommend Taqueria Cuernavaca if you're in the mood for shrimp but also in the mood for the perfect combination of rice and beans which by the way goes great with an Orchata or Jamaica drink. I've been eyeing this location for a while now and had been wanting to see what this spot was about. Thanks to a friend who recently took me to their Ventura location I now knew Taqueria Cuernavaca was serving up quality Mexican food so I didn't want to put off trying this location any longer. I like this restaurant as it's big inside and right off the freeway making it easy in and out. Plenty of parking and clear signage. Here you order at the counter and then grab yourself a table. I appreciate that the signs are big and clear to read. I opted to take my food to go so I can't speak to the ambiance of the place but the service was really good. The gentlemen taking my order was friendly and welcoming. Quick to get me in and out which I appreciate when I can't dine in. The prices are very reasonable here too. I couldn't believe what great deals they have on their taco combos. I got two carnitas tacos, an Agua Fresca, and rice/beans for under $15. A real steal if you ask me. The food and drinks here are consistently good. I love their carnitas, super tasty. Here they are a little more fatty and larger pieces but it was really good. Rice and beans were stellar also. I like their jamica drink here, it's not watered down like some other places do. The drink was super refreshing and delicious. I love this spot and business that I'll keep coming back. read more

Though the years, we've dined here a few times and have seen it go through ups and downs. Today was a good day. The lengua tacos were fabulous... perfectly cooked, so tender and flavorful. The steak quesadillas were delicious, as usual. The chicken options are a bit dry, so I recommend sticking with the other meat options, unless you're interested in the milanese which was great. There was a bit of a wait but the food was ready fairly quickly. Service was patient, helpful, and very attentive (thank you, Antonio). This is one of our preferred spots when we're craving Mexican flavors. They have the best lengua. Let's hope the experience stays consistently good! read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have seen in a long time. The lady at the counter is rude and always seems to be mad. After we ordered today I said to go ahead and pack up the order to go. Mostly because we were tired of her crappy service. The said she needed the receipt even though we just ordered. Literally the last to order. Within 60 seconds the order Wes basically thrown onto the table we were waiting at and she said goodbye. Just a very rude person. Never going back to this place and plan on telling everyone I know not to go. This is the restaurant in Oxnard not Ventura. Got nothing but good things to say about the Ventura location. read more

Genuinely the worst carne asada fries I've ever gotten. Just a tomato slice on top of a glob of avocado and mostly un chopped carne asada. I mean the picture speaks for itself.
