I come here often ! but yes the quality is going down the hill ! today i ordered an asada torta. out of asada , okay . ordered el pastor torta and i could immediately tell it was super lightweight with fries . burnt meat , burnt fries and literally ZERO lettuce and avocado . debating to go back and get my money or a replacement, completely disappointed

In town for work. This was the closest Mexican Food spot to me. Small parking lot. Plenty of parking. Clean Exterior and Interior. I was immediately greeted. I dined in. My server was in excellent, fast and efficient taking my order. They give you chips and salsa on the house. Chips were great. Salsa was just ok. I ordered the green salsa Enchiladas de Pollo combo. Comes with refried beans and Mexican rice. With a dab of sour cream and guac. Honestly, my meal was solid AF. My server promptly checked in on me. This place is perfect for small to medium sized groups. They had a lot of Seafood plates, but I just wasn't in the mood. I would Absolutely Recommend them!!

To go Breakfast Burrito
Jennifer F.

Wanted a Breakfast Burrito today so we stop here to check it out. This place is now on my brain for breakfast burritos. Options were ham, bacon or chorizo. I tried the bacon breakfast burrito. We got ours to go & each burrito was in it's own bag with chips, red & green salsa & napkins. Great quality tortilla to start off, eggs, cheese, beans, potatoes & your choice of ham, bacon or chorizo. It made a great hardy Breakfast! The red salsa was my favorite being not too spicy but great chipotle flavor. The green salsa didn't smell spicy but it burned! The beans were DELICIOUS! Next time I'm wanting a bean & cheese burrito I'm coming here. I also want to come back for their Nachos. Overall very tasty & definitely coming back.

Chorizo Breakfast Burrito

Stopped in for a breakfast burrito, and I'm glad I did! I ordered the Chorizo Breakfast burrito. The burrito was nice and hearty, packed full of chorizo, potatoes, cheese and beans. The chorizo was not greasy at all and had good flavor. The potatoes gave the burrito depth and fullness. The beans.. wow.. I really enjoyed the flavor and the consistency of the beans, somewhat creamy or mashed. The tortilla itself was thin, yet pliable, and held the burrito very well. The salsa rojo had a chipotle smokiness and tasted great. The salsa Verde was spicy! It didn't smell spicy, just the aroma of tomatillos but surprises you with a spice in your mouth. Overall, a very very good breakfast burrito. Can't wait to return to try some of their other food!

Love it here always the aqua chilies sauce is the best ! The chips are fresh and the watermelon juice is fire

Mexican rice

This is definitely the most amazing authentic Mexican food I've ever had! Been to many restaurants instead the US and Mexico and nothing compares. Garlic shrimp bursting with flavor, fresh salad, tasty beans, and rice the way it should be. These tortillas did not disappoint my goal was to get on the freeway but after tasting this food, I sat here and ate it all I am definitely a foodie and very picky. 18 Wheeler truck parking available across the street just pull up! One more thing they did not skimp on the shrimp in regards to the size or the quantity.

Burnt fish meat

I ordered 3 fish tacos and they where awful. The fish must have died 100 years ago & put behind the freezer. Literately burnt and there was 0 meat left. It's not hard to make fresh fish tacos, a little goes a long way guys. I hate to leave bad reviews but I was so disappointed since my tacos where over 5 bucks. I also ordered a salmon burger that was obviously not fresh either and was just plain embarrassing. I didn't expect it to be a delicacy since it's a Mexican restaurant but man oh man ... I just can't

SUPER IMPRESSED! Clean-authentic & delicious! I sometimes work in The surrounding areas and I frequent the car wash across the street. I've always eyeballed this Mexican restaurant. Today I decided to go in and order some food to go for my family. I believe the gentleman might've been the manager, he was very kind and attentive and wanted to make sure I understood the menu and explained all the different foods to me. While waiting for my to go order, he offered me chips and salsa and ice water that I had asked for Definitely recommend it! My family enjoyed the food!

Yuck
Paul B.

Ordered some tacos to go. Quite possibly the worst I've ever had. The chicken was dry and flavorless. It actually looked like cut chicken from a bag of frozen chicken you can buy at the supermarket. The carnitas was just as bad. It was even drier, as if it was a week old. The other sign it was dry and old, was it was salty. Inedible. I was scared to finish eating them. Go elsewhere. There are plenty of other places nearby.

Looking for somewhere to eat fish and chips passing through Oxnard and this did not disappoint!…read moreLove that they have family bucket of fish and chips and had the Dodger game on. The fish was FRESH. Perfectly crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. Also got burgers for the kids and hush puppies. The kids burgers were cooked nicely, not dry. For over 25 years, this spot has remained a "go to" in the community, and we love seeing these old school treasures continue to thrive. From the moment you walk in, you get those nostalgic, old-school vibes. Loved all of the decor and pictures of fisherman throughout the place. The service here was awesome. Super friendly and welcoming, and the gentleman at the register gave great recommendations. He knew the menu well and was able to help me out with some suggestions. Honestly, the menu is so extensive it was hard to choose, but here's what I went with: Fish & Chips (2 piece plate): 5/5. The batter was light yet perfectly crispy, not overly heavy, and the fish itself was fresh, flaky, and high quality. Paired with a solid tartar sauce, this is a must order dish. The French fries were classic and I loved their coleslaw. Grilled Thresher Shark Plate: 4.5/5. This one was a standout for me given how hard it is to find shark on menus nowadays. I actually grew up eating shark, so this felt super nostalgic. The staff highly recommended it, and I'm so glad I listened. The grilled shark was mild, tender, and full of flavor thanks to their delicious balsamic glaze marinade. If you've ever been curious about trying shark, this is the place to do it. I'll be back again for this soon. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying and the best part? It doesn't break the bank. Prices were reasonable and portions were generous. Definitely check them out if you haven't already, a great old school restaurant in Oxnard.

Seafood is the place to visit. Just don't expect this place to be fancy or anything, because in terms of other shops around there is none. This place is the only place that is open. Even the restroom is a walk away. For our visit we came here on a Thursday morning. We arrived around 1030am and were the only one there. There's a tank outside where you can handpick your live rock crabs and 2 tank with live lobsters and spot prawns inside. Prices were very reasonable for fresh live seafood. Ordered the following. 1lb Live Steamed Spot Prawns- There were 7 good size to a 1Lb. The prawns was steamed perfectly. The prawns itself was so sweet and tender. It actually didn't need anything but it came with a few lemon wedges. Live Grilled Whole Lobster- The lobster is equally amazing. It was meaty and so sweet. Dipped that lobster meat in that warm melted butter with a little squeeze of lemon. The plate those come with a side of fries, coleslaw and garlic bread. It waa a good size lobster for the price. H.C Seafood is definitely a place I will come back to soon. The service was straight forward. Order inside and pick up outside at the outside window. Until my next visit.

It looked dead and closed, but there were some cars out back, so there had to be someone inside. When I got to the door, you can hear people inside with some Chinese music softly playing. The people are very nice. They greet you, and are very welcoming and helpful. The food is the reason for a three, the service is good. The seating is bad. It was a slightly windy day, and seating is only outside, so that doesn't help with being able to eat, but that doesn't really matter all that much. The food itself is what matters most. It is not that great. The fried shrimp is ok, the steamed or sautéed shrimps are ok. The grilled cod is ok too. Nothing great. Just ok. The fried scallops were not great. The onion rings are horrific. The fries were not fried enough to get some crisp, and not salted at-all. The entire meal was a waste. I don't recommend coming here, but if you do, just go with the shrimp, fried or steamed.

GETTING HERE:…read more Ventura Crab N Spice is located a few doors down from The Habit on Telephone in Ventura. The footprint is the Winco shopping center. REVIEW: First timer here (what.) and it was so good! Quiet, not too busy on the day we went (during the week). I remember in my baby years of Yelp I used to note that a restaurant was "good" if it was busy. Post-shutdown and currently 2026, it's OK to me if it's ghost town inside. :) We ordered the Clam Chowder Bowl and Sweet Potato Fries. GREAT! The chowder had nice flavor and was thick, and the clam pieces were tasty. The bread was warm and soft, so full of flavor. Service was good. Love the vibe inside, too. Love the decor and the entire vibe. As much as I love seafood, I can't wait to go back to try their other menu items. Thank you for a great meal. Highly recommend!

There was no wait, and we stood there for about 10 minutes without being helped. Finally, a waitress came over around 8:05 PM and told us they were closed at 8 and couldn't seat us. That doesn't make sense--if you close at 8, you should still be seating guests before that time, especially when they've been waiting and there's no line. The lack of communication and basic customer service was frustrating and unprofessional. It wasn't about the timing it was about how it was handled. Standing there with no acknowledgment and then being turned away last minute is just bad service. Definitely not the experience we expected.

We did arrive a little late, so we weren't able to dine in but based on looks it's a really quiet place where I'd be a nice date place., the guy working there was so nice and encouraged us to order to go -- which we gladly did. We ordered a little bit of everything: shrimp, clams, crab legs, and all the sides. The only thing they didn't have was eggs, which is a little sad because a seafood boil with eggs is just top tier. But let me tell you... the flavor made up for it completely. Everything was so rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The whole time we were eating we just kept saying how good it was and how much flavor everything had. It was a total hit! We got so much food and the price honestly wasn't bad at all. I can truly say this is wayyyyy better than Boiling Crab, no doubt. I already can't wait to come back this weekend for round two -- and this time I definitely want to eat inside to get the full experience. Did have to flag them down for water refills every once in a while since they sat us in the back corner. My fish and chips unfortunately did not have a shattery shell like I was hoping it would. It was a little soggy on the underside. Clam chowder had reduced a little too much and had gone a little gloopy but still tasted yummy. Lots of clams inside. We decided to go all out and try almost the entire menu. The woman who I believe is the owner gave us great recommendations, and we ordered four tacos gobernador, a mojara, ceviche de pescado, a surf and turf burrito, and a cóctel de camarón. Everything was amazing -- especially the tacos gobernador. They were packed with so much flavor, and the rice they came with was sooo good. The cóctel de camarón had great flavor as well; we added extra salsa since we love spicy food, and that really took it to the next level. I didn't personally try the mojara since I'm not a big fan, but my mom absolutely loved it. I'm guilty of just wanting to order one of everything because the food and pictures looked so good. We were in the mood for tacos and agua frescas so we settled on those. Their agua frescas are some of the best I've had anywhere! I've always loved their Jamaica but today I ordered their cucumber pineapple and that drink was phenomenal, super refreshing and delicious. You really don't need beer here as their house made drinks are spot on. My mom and I both loved and devoured our tacos. She went with the asada which was perfectly cooked and loaded with fresh onions and cilantro. I had the grilled shrimp tacos which were massive - loaded with jumbo shrimp and the grilled onions and jalapeños gave this dish a perfect kick. I'm always a sucker for a creamy sauce and theirs is tasty. My mom and I both agreed their side salad (with massive chunks of avocado) and rice were super tasty. Their taco plates are the way to go, you get so much food for a great value. 10/10. Everyone around us was ordering the shrimp and pulpo coctels and tostadas. Their seafood is clearly the fan favorite. I'm excited that on the weekends they now have pozole and menudo. I'll be coming back again for some of these soups. The restaurant itself is cozy, clean and inviting. I really like the vibes here and sitting for a casual lunch in was perfect. I was also impressed to see how many to go orders they had as well. Staff were hustling and the food was all well paced. Shoutout to Coco who took our order today and gave us great recommendations. She encouraged me to try the pineapple cucumber juice and I'm so glad she did. Staff here are super nice and friendly, always just great vibes. If you haven't stopped in yet you really must give them a try. Great local business and team, the food is delicious and prices are really reasonable for the amount of food and quality you get. I'll definitely be back soon and with some friends! :)
