CLOSED FOR RENOVATION!!!!! When it opens back up, I'm sure the food will be as good as I had last month. But, it's. Closed for now. If you want full selection of food, go to the Oxnard location. Main Street location doesn't have the full menu. Food wise, it's excellent!!! read more

Delicious food. I had sopes with Al pastor. Fresh food, friendly people. Have eaten in and taken out, both good. Will return.

Went here on a whim. My man was craving a pambazo and we always stop by a restaurant that have it on their menu whenever we're driving back from Pismo. I ordered asada, brisket (steak suadero), and a salseado taco. Let me tell you, their salseado taco is the best taco I've ever had period. We will definitely be back. read more

Ah man. I wanted to like this place so bad. I ordered a lengua burrito, which came out to $15 and it was the smallest burrito I've had in a long time. It was good, just disappointed with how little they give you for that much. read more

Taqueria Cuernavaca is one of those neighborhood spots you're grateful to have nearby. Located right on the Avenue, it's easy, comforting, and consistently good. For me, one of the best indicators that the food is going to be amazing is when there are dish photos on the menu. That alone sets the tone. The fresh salsa bar is a standout, and yes, they have Mexican Coke and cervezas. On weekends, don't miss the white pozole with crunchy rolled taquitos filled with ricotta-style queso and all the fresh fixings. Add that chili oil and thank me later. I also love their tacos, especially the veggie ones. I'm not vegetarian, but they're that good. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. Clean, bright, and no-frills in the best way. It feels like a true neighborhood taquería where you can come as you are, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy your meal. I recently learned this is their first location, which makes it even better. It's family-owned, now with four locations across Santa Barbara, Oxnard, and Ventura County, yet it still feels grounded and local. You can dine in, take out, or order delivery. The place is spotless, service is quick, and the staff is genuinely kind. A solid go-to for quality Mexican food that hits every time. read more

So the food was good, lunch for 3 was about $60.00 so not really cheap, and they messed up all three orders. We had two bowls, chicken and pork, both were delivered to the table without the lettuce and tomato. (See Before Photos) third order was Chili Relleno, received Chili Verde. Chili Verde vs Chili Relleno I can chalk up to a simple mistake, but the Bowls without lettuce and tomato, that is just poor quality control. Good Food, Poor Quality Control and a higher price point move what could have been 4 stars down to 3. read more

We were honestly so pleasantly surprised by Taqueria Cuernavaca! We're from San Diego, so we don't take Mexican food lightly--we're pretty spoiled when it comes to quality and flavor. But this spot completely exceeded our expectations. We ordered delivery, and even then, everything arrived fresh, well-packaged, and still absolutely delicious--which says a lot. The food was incredibly flavorful without being heavy or greasy (something that's hard to find). You could really taste the freshness in the ingredients, and every dish felt well-balanced and thoughtfully made. This is one of those places you don't necessarily expect to be that good, and then it totally delivers. We'll definitely be ordering again next time we're in Ventura! read more

First time here. Ordered for take out. My bf highly recommended by me and we have the same taste. I got confused with the entrance because it's a black metal screen door. Once you get in you're greeted. Very nice lady and helpful. The burritos and Birria tacos I ordered are really good. All the salsas full of flavor and fresh sides. It's a small place but very welcoming. The ambiance feels home like. It wasn't packed when I went but I heard it gets packed. I'm definitely coming back for more. I had a great experience here read more

Was in the area and found this place while walking around, we later ordered food here via DoorDash for our family. We tried the tripa tacos, tongue tacos, pastor burrito, steak burrito, bean & cheese burrito and a steak torta. Fresh, delicious, great quality, huge portions, great salsa! We loved the food and would order again if we are in the area. read more

I had not been to this location in years. I'm from Oxnard.. so I just hit that one up. Love the remodel. They added outdoor seating / dining . Cool! I also love the salsa bar. My fave salsa is the chipotle. Clean spot! Service is quick and friendly. I got my asada tacos to go and I was in / out with a quickness! Asada Tacos are currently $ 2.85 as of 8.23.24 . Highly rec! read more

We ordered take out on our last night in town on a great trip but some lackluster restaurants. Everything we ordered was amazing even for takeout, loved the salsa, chips, guacamole, vegetarian tacos, rice and beans and we loved the salsas and great vegetarian options. We ordered delivery but called for some extra salsas to be added to our order and the person on the phone had great customer service. We will definitely order again next time we are in town and maybe eat at the restaurant. read more

I was delighted to find this small restaurant on the "Avenue" while on my way to Ojai. The staff was friendly and efficient. The menu (mostly in Spanish) was large, especially considering the size of the restaurant. I chose the flautas plate and it was terrific. Three large flautas (I chose chicken over cheese), a scoop of refried beans served in a small fried tortilla "cup", and Mexican rice. You order at the counter and then take a table. There are about eight tables for 4 and two tables for 2. The restaurant has a parking lot on the side which is nice, as street parking is harder to find. I look forward to returning to try some of the other items on the menu. I would recommend this family-owned business without hesitation. read more

This is not a place to go if you are expecting a hostess and waiter experience. It is a nice, clean, little place to place to grab some Mexican Food. When you arrive, order at the counter before sitting down. If you have people with you, save a table! This place is little and it will fill up within minutes even if it looks dead. Service is fast, it was only about ten minutes between when we ordered and the food arriving. Everything is self serve, including the salsa bar and condiments for menudo. I won't recommend it for large parties, seating might be tricky. For a party of four, we found an open spot pretty quickly. We first tried the Torta Cubano. It is not a true Cubano but a great spin on the concept. Meat was seasoned just right and slightly fried at the edges which added to the great taste. The bread was lightly toasted and the flavor was awesome. Next was the Gordita. It was decent, but the carnitas meat had a little too much juice which quickly made the whole thing soggy. The last bite was too messy to pick it up. I wouldn't order it again. Finally, the Menudo was really the reason we were there. I am always in the hunt to find good Menudo. This one, missed the mark, a lot. First thing I noticed about the Menudo was the smell. It didn't smell like they cleaned the meat, at all. They used a lot of chicken boullion, so much so that it thickened up the juice...way too much. This boullion overpowered the entire soup, I could not taste nothing but the chicken. Hopefully this was just a bad day with the spices. I'd be willing to try it again. Overall, nice quick place to grab some decent food. read more

There menudo was delicious and the asada burrito was really good I would definitely be visiting this place again when I'm in Ventura

I also ordered a cheese and onion enchilada, but she gave me chicken instead. On top of that, I started to order a drink but then said never mind--yet after I sat down, I noticed she still charged me for the drink, so I had to go back up and ask for a refund. I also noticed she seemed distracted, busy looking at the TV while charging me (so much so that I even turned to see what she was watching). And at the time, I was the only customer! read more

Fantasticly delicious pozole and tacos! This place is always a treat. The birria and al pastor tacos are tender and bursting with umami, and the red pozole is spicy and warming on a rainy day. Adding lime juice and cilantro made it over the top! Huge portion enough for 2 meals. Love this place!! read more

I am so sad to say that this location has been missing the mark lately. In the time since my first review, the quality of food and flavor has declined, and while it pains me to say this, after three disappointing experiences, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. On my last visit, my brother and I ordered two number 2 veggie tacos( an all time favorite with raja, sautéed mushrooms, and melted cheese) and a carne asada taco plate. Their veggie taco has always been a standout menu item but it seems they've changed the recipe (and the cheese they use) and the new version lacks both substance and flavor. The carne asada was dry and rubbery and the rice and beans arrived cold, despite dining in. I really like Cuernavaca, so here's hoping the Oxnard location keeps the original recipes and continuity of service. read more

Love this place so much! Often I'm happy to find a restaurant with just one vegan option. But this amazing taqueria has a whole menu of vegan taco options including vegan cheese! And every one is delicious. The mushroom, rajas and cheese is perfection. Everything is fresh, the salsas are all different and all so good. The staff is always kind, polite and helpful. The restaurant is clean and tidy as is the bathroom. Love the curbside patio when it's not too hot out. And their prices are SO reasonable for the quality! EVERY time we're in Ventura this is our lunch of choice. Try it!! read more

Hands down the best sopes I have ever had. I come back to Ventura just for this, and they never fail to impress me. I come from a Mexican family who has made these and back to my dad's hometown but nothing hits like these. The man was nice and the place felt lively, plus there are restrooms. The cotija cheese with the orange/red salsa is my go-to. I look forward to coming back asap! read more

Great mexican food. Amazing guacamole. Don't listen to the other reviews that are trash talking. You'll enjoy the experience.

The food here is so mediocre to be priced the was it is! $15-17 a plate for mid food and extremely spicy hot sauces. I couldn't event enjoy my food. Not to mention the customer service isn't the best either! I enjoyed the one on Main Street more. Way more flavor somehow read more

Oops. The chili relleno did not have melted cheese inside. The cheese was still cold. Obviously, it was not heated enough prior to being brought out to the table. When I alerted the man who brought it to me and showed him how the cheese was still cold and solid (not melted), he claimed, "It's not supposed to be melted inside." What a silly thing to say! I'm 65 years old and I've been eating chili rellenos my whole life, and they ALWAYS have hot melted cheese inside. If you ask Google whether chili rellenos are supposed to be filled with melted cheese, the answer is "absolutely." With tip, this was a disappointing way to spend over twenty bucks. I did not finish my dinner. (I was also not willing to argue and make the guy take my plate back and heat it more.) I also thought it was odd the way the chili relleno arrived in a fairly deep puddle of clearish orange broth rather than the traditional thick salsa/cheese you get elsewhere. read more
