First time here. Ordered for take out. My bf highly recommended by me and we have the same taste. I got confused with the entrance because it's a black metal screen door. Once you get in you're greeted. Very nice lady and helpful. The burritos and Birria tacos I ordered are really good. All the salsas full of flavor and fresh sides. It's a small place but very welcoming. The ambiance feels home like. It wasn't packed when I went but I heard it gets packed. I'm definitely coming back for more. I had a great experience here

I had not been to this location in years. I'm from Oxnard.. so I just hit that one up. Love the remodel. They added outdoor seating / dining . Cool! I also love the salsa bar. My fave salsa is the chipotle. Clean spot! Service is quick and friendly. I got my asada tacos to go and I was in / out with a quickness! Asada Tacos are currently $ 2.85 as of 8.23.24 . Highly rec!

Plate of Beef flautas, comes with rice and beans, lots of guacamole mexican sour cream, queso fresco on top of fresh crunchy lettuce

the food was outstanding, beans were fresh and creamy rice was good. The beef flautas were very good, the restaurant is small but the service is great and the food fresh and delicious, definitely like I was in Mexico.

Torts Taco Cubano

This is not a place to go if you are expecting a hostess and waiter experience. It is a nice, clean, little place to place to grab some Mexican Food. When you arrive, order at the counter before sitting down. If you have people with you, save a table! This place is little and it will fill up within minutes even if it looks dead. Service is fast, it was only about ten minutes between when we ordered and the food arriving. Everything is self serve, including the salsa bar and condiments for menudo. I won't recommend it for large parties, seating might be tricky. For a party of four, we found an open spot pretty quickly. We first tried the Torta Cubano. It is not a true Cubano but a great spin on the concept. Meat was seasoned just right and slightly fried at the edges which added to the great taste. The bread was lightly toasted and the flavor was awesome. Next was the Gordita. It was decent, but the carnitas meat had a little too much juice which quickly made the whole thing soggy. The last bite was too messy to pick it up. I wouldn't order it again. Finally, the Menudo was really the reason we were there. I am always in the hunt to find good Menudo. This one, missed the mark, a lot. First thing I noticed about the Menudo was the smell. It didn't smell like they cleaned the meat, at all. They used a lot of chicken boullion, so much so that it thickened up the juice...way too much. This boullion overpowered the entire soup, I could not taste nothing but the chicken. Hopefully this was just a bad day with the spices. I'd be willing to try it again. Overall, nice quick place to grab some decent food.

Order from the counter then find a table.

I was delighted to find this small restaurant on the "Avenue" while on my way to Ojai. The staff was friendly and efficient. The menu (mostly in Spanish) was large, especially considering the size of the restaurant. I chose the flautas plate and it was terrific. Three large flautas (I chose chicken over cheese), a scoop of refried beans served in a small fried tortilla "cup", and Mexican rice. You order at the counter and then take a table. There are about eight tables for 4 and two tables for 2. The restaurant has a parking lot on the side which is nice, as street parking is harder to find. I look forward to returning to try some of the other items on the menu. I would recommend this family-owned business without hesitation.

Enchilada and taco

I also ordered a cheese and onion enchilada, but she gave me chicken instead. On top of that, I started to order a drink but then said never mind--yet after I sat down, I noticed she still charged me for the drink, so I had to go back up and ask for a refund. I also noticed she seemed distracted, busy looking at the TV while charging me (so much so that I even turned to see what she was watching). And at the time, I was the only customer!

Sopes con pastor

Hands down the best sopes I have ever had. I come back to Ventura just for this, and they never fail to impress me. I come from a Mexican family who has made these and back to my dad's hometown but nothing hits like these. The man was nice and the place felt lively, plus there are restrooms. The cotija cheese with the orange/red salsa is my go-to. I look forward to coming back asap!

Horchata

Best horchata in Ventura 10/10 must try . Service is great. Prices was very good. The food is very bomb here

Oops. The chili relleno did not have melted cheese inside.

I've eaten at 3 of their locations, and perhaps this location may be slightly more geared to 'gringo' tastes. I had their breakfast burrito, and unlike most other tacquerias, they give you a lot of nice melted cheese. The beans didn't taste as salty or flavorful as some other taco places. But overall, very satisfying, just didn't have that fully tacqueria taste. I have really enjoyed their veggie Papas and rajas tacos at the Avenue location. This may be the best tacqueria for vegetarians, more options. Staff here tends to be younger (college ages), and generally very friendly. I actually sometimes just stop in for their Horchata. It's not homemade (as that is a very difficult drink to make!) but I find it satisfying. In general all the prices here are reasonable, less than some other places that are charging 15-17 for burritos. This is a strong recommendation if you are downtown and craving casual Mexican eats!

The restaurant has a really cute Mediterranean/Italian vibe with gorgeous lemon trees and comfy patio seating. It was chilly outside, but the heaters made it comfortable. Staff was friendly, just very busy because of the holiday. Food took around an hour, but understandable for Mother's Day. The food was excellent. I got the flatbread with apricot jam and bacon, and it was such a good mix of sweet and savory with fresh arugula on top. Definitely recommend it. My boyfriend got the wagyu burger medium with fries and everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. Other people at our table got shrimp and corn, fish tacos, and burgers, and everything looked really good. Great place, will come back

Parking is available in the rear one street over. Very safe with lots of spaces. I ordered the Fajita Burrito with carne asada. This is a basic presentation, and I cannot say enough good things about my meal. The vegetables were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch and very fresh. The beef was so tender I would not have needed a knife to cut it. Very flavorful and not a lot of fat at all. Delicious. Mild salsa and guacamole is included. All for under $20.00 and home made chips and salsa are included. Very good salsa I opted to take home with me. The entree was quite generous and I took half of my burrito home with me. My only comment is the place is a bit small and rather dark as there are several TV's to watch sports. I do like sports but I prefer a bit more lighting to see what I am eating and how clean the establishment is. Otherwise I would have given a 5 star rating. I do need to mention the restroom was quite clean. Obvious to see this is a locals gathering spot. I'm sad the place is a four hour drive away as I would definitely make it a local favorite of my own if I lived closer.
