First impression was I love the outdoor courtyard they have. I appreciate the kids menu and the crayons they gave us! My kid loved his cheese pizza. I got the sea bass and it was such a generous peice of fish, and cooked perfectly. I didn't find the coconut sauce to sweet or overbearing like another reviewer mentioned. I did feel a dash more salt would have made the flavor pop, and I'm not someone who heavily salts food. I did get my dish without bell peppers so maybe it altered the flavor profile. However it was still a wonderful dish. My fiance got the short ribs and loved everything about it, and I tried it and it was delicious. Meat was so tender, creamy polenta, carrots were not to soft and their natural sweetness married well. I also absolutely loved my blackberry mojito mocktail. One of the best I've had! For dessert we shared the key lime pie, bread pudding, and chocolate pot de creme. I think the pot de creme on its own needed something else to punch it up whether it be ginger or orange. It just needed another counterpoint that the key lime pie at least gave me. The bread pudding was super warm and cozy, and probably my favorite of the three. The chamomile tea was absolutely amazing, so smooth and full bodied. Truly a good quality tea, where many other restaurants don't put much thought in their tea supplier, I could tell they did, and it made my dessert that much more enjoyable. I really appreciate this restaurant and feel it was the highlight in our culinary experiences for this trip hands down. Between the service, ambiance, and food quality it is truly a special place to have a meal with loved ones.

Especially the customer that is sitting there at your establishment. Rather than tell us while we were ordering that it might take longer than normal, they don't communicate anything and then don't even address the issue until I go up there to complain. Once that happened the tacos came out in less than 5 minutes which is even more upsetting since this is how fast they should have come out to begin with. The gentleman who I think was an owner did apologize and try to offer some free drinks which I politely declined as I knew I'd never be back again. I hope that this business learns to service the customers properly that are actually dining there and if there is an issue at least takes some initiative to address it on the front side. Most working class people only get a 30-45 minute lunch to begin with so it wasn't cool that we literally wasted 30 minutes just sitting there with no explanation. There are plenty of other good places around Ventura for lunch - especially for tacos. Won't be going back here ever.

During my stay in Ventura, I discovered a small Mexican restaurant in a strip mall right across the street from my motel. This little eatery served up a variety of favorites including quesadillas, ceviche, fish tacos, and my go-to, the Carne Asada burrito. When I walked up to order, the girl behind the counter didn't look too thrilled to be there. No attitude or anything, but the vibe she gave off was pure "No quiero estar aquí." However, let me tell you, the Carne Asada burrito more than made up for the RBF (Resting Bored Face). That burrito was increíble! The meat was perfectly crispy around the edges, just the way I like it. To top it off, the salsa added an extra kick with its spicy, flavorful goodness. It was a meal to remember. So, if you can overlook the less-than-enthusiastic greeting, you're in for a real treat with their Carne Asada burrito. ¡Vale la pena! read more
