Updated review- Pros - Delicious brunch menu Wait staff incredibly efficient Great vibe Con - Signage for entrance. Several guests were walking around the side parking lot trying to find the front door. Still needs to be improved

Made a reservation for 3 on a Sunday morning - we were seated a few minutes after we arrived. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered regular coffee and was surprised it didn't come with any refills. For brunch I had the build-your-own scramble with asparagus, bacon and mushrooms. The scramble was more of an omelette with limited ingredients, but came with a decent portion of potatoes. Overall just OK for brunch. Restaurant itself is beautiful. Parking can be tricky, but I easily found street parking around the corner.

The first time I went to M on High Street the food was amazing and the ambiance was great. I went for a second time and do not feel the same way. Compared to the outdoor dinning experience I had the first time, eating inside was a letdown and felt lackluster. Their back patio made us feel like we were eating in LA while the inside definitely feels like Moorpark. Everyone's favorite dish here is the Double R Ranch Ribeye, but it wasn't the same. It was cooked well, but they didn't trim the fat enough. It seems like they want the steak to look larger than it really is, so you end up with more than a few bites of pure fat. Not appetizing. I highly recommend the Crispy Calamari strips. They were delicious the first time around and it was the same story this visit. I hope M on High Street is not on its way downhill, but we'll be back in a few months to see if it is!

Great for a night out in Moorpark! The service was phenomenal -- our server was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was pleasant and calm, and the food was good as well. My steak was great, but my wife's was a bit overcooked (more well and she wanted medium). Definitely recommend!

Perfect date night in Moorpark. My favorite was the short ribs, can't find another restaurant that tastes better

Seeing a show at the High Street Theater and wanted to have dinner before the show close to the theater. M on High is just a 2 block walk away - very convenient. And they take and honor reservations! Soon after we sat down, they brought bread to the table. That is dangerous because the bread is soooo good it is tempting to fill up on the bread and be too full for dinner (yes, I did that - my bad!) For my entree I ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto ($22) and added salmon ($12 more). My wife went with the Charred Corn and Avocado Salad ($17) with a skewer of shrimp added ($12). Both dishes were huge - more than we could finish. And both were delish!!! Way too stuffed to consider dessert. The only gripe is that service was very slow. We sat down at about 5:45 and barely got out in time for a 7:30 show.

We came here for dinner and it was another great experience. The ingredients in our dishes were fresh and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant ambiance is one of the best in Ventura County; casual, chic, romantic, and family friendly. I highly recommend reservations for weekend dinners.

Happy that a friend and I were finally able to stumble into M on High for their new brunch hours and menu. We had a great time. The ambiance is there, staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food was tasty. I've been eager to come to M on High for some time now and when they dropped brunch hours and a new lunch menu with cutie cocktails I was all in. Definitely make a reservation. We came for a late brunch and it was definitely busy inside, almost every seat was taken. With a reservation we only had to wait a few minutes so it was nice. I really like the ambiance and decor inside. Very pretty and great for a girls day. They have a beautiful bar in the back and I think they did a great job giving this place a little sparkle. Staff and service here were 5 stars. Everyone was super nice and sweet. Attentive and helpful without feeling like they needed to get you out. My friend and I had such a good time talking and catching up that we were one of the last tables left. They quietly cleared out our plates and cleaned up all around us but never made us feel rushed. Very nice staff here and would come back again to support because of the team. Food and drinks were about 3-4 stars in my books. Everything was good relatively but I need to find my "it" dish and cocktail here. For my cocktail I tried the blue ocean which read as a more tropical drink, it was visually super pretty but taste wise missed the mark. Was a bit bland and not exciting. My friends cocktail called X Marks the Spot was delicious though. From the brunch menu I went with the Cubano sandwich and skinny fries. The sandwich was good, average. I enjoyed my meal but there are other places that have a cubano I've enjoyed more. Let's give a round of applause for those skinny fries though! A generous portion and so crispy and delicious. Paired with their homemade ranch I could have snacked on these all day. Yum. Overall M on High is a fun restaurant to come for a celebration or even just a casual meal with friends. Their dinner menu looks exceptional and I will have to come back.

Wow! After a jaunty wine tasting we were looking for somewhere to eat. Patrick recommended M and just WOW! We were blown away. First of all, ambiance. The decor here is superb! Tasteful and colorful and modern. Inspired! As always, when the restrooms have also been tastefully done on theme I know I'm in the right place. That level of attention to detail is what I crave! The food was top notch. My partner ordered the burgundy braised short ribs and they were so tender you could cut them with a spoon. The glaze was perfection and the wild mushroom risotto is not to be missed. I had the lamb with radiatori pasta. I loved it! The menu selections are well curated and we are looking forward to returning! As one would expect of a place with incredible decor and cuisine, our service was also superb. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. An absolutely perfect blend. Casual enough and fancy enough all at the same time.

Ask the Community - M on High Restaurant

    Where is there parking?

Park in the Metro Lot....street parking too....

What time does brunch start and end on Sunday?

    Saturday and Sunday 930-130

Fo you have a Full service bar?

    Yes they do.

Do you allow dogs on the patio?

We love pets, but unfortunately they are not permitted in the restaurant. This includes pets in strollers, bags or held by their owner. We do welcome certified service animals or service animals in training at the restaurant.

Is there a required dress code?

It's casual for sure! I saw people in jeans, and people "california dressed up" (still casual)

Do you allow outside wines? If so, how much is the corkage fee?

$25 corkage fee as of 4/14/23.

Are reservations necessary for happy hour?

I would highly recommend reservations, especially on the weekends and depending on where you want to sit (this place is especially crazy during the Summers).

What do they have for kid entertainment?

There are games on the outdoor grass area and when I was there, saw several people roasting marshmallows over the fire pits!

Are reservations required or do you accept walk-ins?

They do have open seating in a portion the outdoor patio (above the steps) in front of the outdoor bar. For indoor seating and the outdoor patio, I do recommend you make reservations ahead of time, as the restaurant does get pretty busy.

    Do they have Happy hour?

Yes we have happy hour everyday from 4pm-5pm.

What time do you stop serving food for dinner?

On Wed, Thurs & Sun the Kitchen closes at 8:30pm. On Fri & Sat the Kitchen closes at 9:30pm. But Late Night Appetizers are available till the restaurant closes.

Does your guest list allow callbacks? Was told in the front that it couldn't but saw some line items with phone numbers - just making sure there's consistency there...

Yes, absolutely but there were no calls. There were 3 people at the hostess stand with no sense of concern when addressed.

At the time the dining room was sparsely populated, only a few other tables were seated. We were seated quickly by the hostess and ordered within a few minutes of sitting down; my wife ordered the seafood pasta I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and the tomato burrata salad as an appetizer. After about 20 minutes the waitress returned to let us know that they were out of the pasta, so my wife asked for the risotto instead. The salad arrived quickly, however my wife noted that it was missing grilled peaches that were listed in the menu description, a disappointment. The salad itself was balsamic dressed cherry tomatoes with a single piece of burrata on top. Another 40 minutes later our entrees finally arrived. Much to my dismay my dish lacked any appreciable character; it was as if they had cooked six month old frozen pasta and thrown up a brown sauce with fried sage on top. My wife's risotto was mostly cheese but was also similarly devoid of other flavors. Now to be fair to the folks here, I did mention to the waitstaff that the flavors in the food were off and they did reduce the bill. They were also apologetic about the wait we faced. Nevertheless, restaurants have three things they need to do well in order to be successful: food, service and ambience. Perhaps if they improved the quality of the food and the time to service more people would come. Needless to say, but I won't be returning.

I'd been wanting to go back and take Dear Hubby to enjoy this very special re-imagining of the previous space, which had been an Irish pub incarnation. When our sister-in-law and two nieces were in town, the five of us were able to spend a quick evening together at Selvin's. We had been working on a project at our house, and by the time we got finished and ready to go out there wasn't a lot of time left as we went on a weeknight and they close at 9:00. I'm surprised that having a full bar, and being attached to a hotel property, that they would hang it up so early - even 9:30 or 10:00 would make more sense. It's such a charming place; seems a shame to have to call it a night so early. The ambiance is absolutely divine, especially out here in suburbia. It's very innovative in its layout. The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. They aren't inexpensive - apparently spirits without alcohol aren't any less (or maybe only slightly less?) than the full-spirited options. Still, it's nice to have the option. Our out of town family members LOVED Selvin's; it was a big hit with all of us. As an added bonus, there was a guitarist playing beautiful acoustic music when we arrived and were seated in the lounge area. Major extra credit!

The reviews were quite solid so we thought this would be an outstanding place to eat - and we were not disappointed. We arrived before 10am and the small, nondescript family-owned spot in a retail strip mall was about half full. Right away, you could smell some amazing, authentic Mexican spices in the air. We were seated quickly by the friendly young woman. The service was very efficient from the start. After looking over the menu, my girlfriend and I were drawn to starting with some amazing Cafe de Olla in these great, authentic colorful ceramic mugs. I opted for Grandma's Chile Verde (Pork cooked in green tomatillo sauce, poblano chilis and Swiss Cheese with the option to add fruit, tarot tots, hash browns and/or egg whites. Served with corn or flour tortillas). My girlfriend went with the other option I was interested in: Chilaquiles Asada Burrito (Carne Asada, chilaquiles, guacamole, queso fresco, sour cream and black beans, served with the aforementioned breakfast sides). Our food was delivered hot and fast within 10 minutes. Right away, the freshly-prepared entrees looked amazingly eye-catching. The first bites of my slow cooked pork were outstanding. Fall off the fork juicy, each bite was filled with amazing spices and flavor combinations that any abuelita would be proud of. The hash browns were also soft on the inside with a slight crisp on the outside. The egg whites and corn tortillas were a nice touch to make my breakfast fulfilling. My girlfriend's burrito was five-star, excellence. I was able to snag a few bites and the carne asada, like my pork, was tender, moist and delicious. The flavor depth of the chilaquiles sauce was simply out of this word. Amazing. Overall, this place is a home run. By 11am, the place was filled with a small line of people outside waiting. With limited hours, daily until 2pm, you'll want to grab a spot early at one of the tables inside or small number of seats outside quickly. The staff rotated and checked on our table at least six times, making sure the food was tasty and the Cafe de Olla refills hot and fresh. Plenty of parking in the strip mall out front, with one gender neutral bathroom in the back (which was clean). Overall, Jarro's offers up some of the best Mexican classics for breakfast in the area, and the service is top notch. The prices are all quite reasonable for the quantity and quality of items. The menu also offers up some more traditional American breakfast options (pancakes, waffles etc), but my recommendation is to try the Mexican classics. The spices and flavors will make your corazon happy.

I came here to try out California Bun, an eatery that has harnessed an interesting (long overdue) concept, to package portable food. Here they prepare snack sized bites (or a little more) of favorite food fancies, enveloped in a daily fresh baked round brioche bun. The store is high ceiling, spacious and large, with ample space to dine in or carry out. It is a mom and pop joint, that is slowly but surely, beginning to make a mark. On the main wall, elegantly displayed, are all the many enticing varieties, for the day. My visit was designed to take something to go. The conundrum here is, what to order, because there were so many inviting choices that were talking to you. I finally decided to select three of these evenly browned and differently topped buns. The El Sabroso (Egg, cheddar & jack cheese, bacon & Jalapeno salsa, garnished with Cheese, bacon & jalapeño). The Roadside Burger (Seasoned ground beef, grilled onions, white American cheese, & secret house burger sauce, garnished with Cheese & bacon). The Mac Daddy (Creamy mac and cheese with a cheddar, jack, and parmesan cheese blend, garnished with Panko bread crumbs). So whats the verdict? The Mac Daddy was my least favorite. In comparing the other two, the Roadside Burger seemed to have the higher of (inside filling/inside bread) ratio, as compared to the El Sabroso. However, the latter is the most attractive bun on the outside and overall, contains a good mix of flavors and slight kick. Any food with a visible Jalapeño is a magnet, for me. Still, this concoction needs more of the egg mixture, to achieve the right balance. In general, all 3 buns were soft, had a nice texture, bread taste and chew. Service here is warm, inviting, friendly and informative.

There's alway that nice factor of trying someplace new. This was a find from one of our friend…read more Which was also a hit from another friend who's dined before. We had a dinner reservation last Saturday which we showed up a little early to have a cocktail before hand. It's located inside of a strip mall with loads of parking. A decent size patio seating. When you walk in, you're greeted with the hostess who were amazing. Right infront of you is the bar area. That itself isn't big at all. There's a few seat along the bar area and that's about it. Also inside dining isn't big as well. Restaurants wasn't massive but nice and quaint and very busy. We were told that if we wanted to grab a drink and take it outside to a spot while we wait for our table it would be fine. They would come get us once it's ready. Cocktails and wine menu was quite nice. They do allow you to bring up to two bottles for a corkage fee. Which we did take advantage of. But beforehand, started off with their smoke and sour cocktails. Mezcal, lime, hibiscus juice, farm egg whites and cherry bitters. It was quite delicious and that smoked mezcal, wow. If you like mezcal, it's worth trying. Bar area isn't big so we had to stand there and wait for our drink. Maybe a 10 to 15 minutes later, we were informed our table was ready. We were seated right behind the bar area for a table for four. I believe Jonathan was our waiter. Very sweet and friendly. Also, it did seemed like a lot of regulars. All the staff members seem to know everyone that was dining. Menu is limited but quite impressive. We started off with a few shared plates before the entrees. -Ember roasted red beets with preserved lemon crèma, spiced pumpkin seeds, pickled Fresno chilis and mint. Wow, it was delicious. The flavors with the beets, kiss kiss. -Smoke trout toast- blisters cherry tomatoes, candy beets, wild arugula, crème fraiche and lemon. This was top dish for starters from all of us. The flavor of the trout was the star of the dish. Highly recommend. -Mushrooms flatbread- shiitake, buna shimeji and oyster mushrooms, tarragon, fiore di Latte mozzarella and crème fraiche. Mushrooms lovers with amazing variety all combined together for a delicious bite. -Spicy scampi flatbread- rock shrimp, parsley, garlic, Calabrian chilis and parmigiano reggiano. It's literally having a seafood scampi but on a flatbread. Wow wow, favorite out of the two flatbread. Definitely recommend. Entrees, Manila clams and salt spring mussels tossed in spaghetti with Calabrian chilis and parsley. The flavors were excellent. Simple but very tasty. -Crispy gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, basil in a Parmesan fondue. It's alway a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. And the elk which was maybe a special. Not quite sure the whole description but it was very tasty. Plus it was very tender and cooked perfectly and mixed with a sauce and topped with crispy onions. Another hit. Lastly we actually had room left for dessert which was the bread pudding. Hot with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect way to end an amazing meal. The service was great. Food was excellent and highly recommended. Each dish had its unique taste that was delicious. Everything ordered was outstanding and no crumbs were left. We would definitely be back.

The food is inspired, and insanely delicious. The people are the best (great seeing you, Annie! Sorry I missed you, Vicki!). 8:15pm and still a lively crowd inside, everyone enjoying themselves. Naveed took care of me at the bar where I began with the perfectly prepared Moody Rooster Old Fashion. Added to that Just a couple appetizers this time: the Burrata and Artichoke, and the Sea Bream crudo. The former had a beautiful burrata mound atop artichoke hearts, pine nuts, and olive oil. Perfect blending of flavors. The crudo was equally well-received. An ample pile dressed up in the center of a shallow bowl, with plenty of olive oil, as opposed to being slices merely laid flat on a plate. Fortunately I'll be back in the area in a week. can't wait to return!

I was wrong. Cork Dork IS a wine bar but the food is absolutely not an after thought. There's a great amount of care and passion behind the dishes (my guest and I got the tasting menu), as was evident in talking with Danny the head chef. A spectrum of vivid flavors. Friendly and attentive staff.

First time in for dinner and was pleasantly greeted at the hostess stand, whom let us in early for our reservation. You enter the restaurant to what seems like a cozy little dining room but then surprised with this added enchanting area. Which I might add, comes with a cool hidden library for private events. After getting comfortable and enjoying our experience perusing the menus via tablet, we were pleasantly welcomed by...Rosie. By far, top five best experiences at a restaurant, all thanks to her. She took us all throughout the menu, made amazing recommendations, and took our evening and completely escalated our night. From the wine, to the amazing plates, to the delicious desserts, all was absolutely top tier. My favorite by far, was the wild mushroom risotto which was out of this world. If I can't compliment the food enough, Rosie was just amazing. I mentioned to her before we left, "it's as if you took us up on a hot air balloon ride with and ever so gently brought us back down to earth." That's what our evening was like in best terms. Thank you again to the staff and owners at Cork Dork. Most of all, thank you again to Rosie. We will definitely be back for another amazing visit.

We arrived about 10 minutes early for our 6pm reservation for a party of 6 and were seated promptly along the window looking out at the patio. The interior of this restaurant has always been well lighted but not too bright and classic with warm woods. Our server greeted us promptly and took our cocktail order. She was polite, enthusiastic and charming all in one. Drinks came out promptly and correctly made. Tito martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives. Olives were hand stuffed not out of a jar and a bottle of Caymus conundrum and a Coors light draft. Now to the food. We started with the crispy calamari and rustic cheddar biscuits. The calamari were indeed crispy and well-seasoned with salt and pepper and served with a good cocktail sauce and a spicy aioli. The cheddar biscuits were elevated with a great honey thyme butter. The entrees came out in about 15 minutes and all 6 of us raved about the taste and quality of them. 3 of us had the Halibut with creamy mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Bonnie had a filet with the Oscar topping and roasted cauliflower, perfectly cooked medium rare. One of us had the prime rib French dip and she loved it, without the horseradish sauce. One friend needed to stary lite and had the Caesar salad with shaved parmesan, which he said was perfect and not overdressed. Our final taste of the night was an order of the Warm Butter cake with extra ice cream for dessert. Topped with fresh berries it was the perfect last bite. We will be back and it won't take 3 years this time.
