What a wonderful experience at Serendipity Cafe and Bar! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and relaxed , exactly the kind of place you want to settle into and stay a while. But the real standout of our visit was our server, Cher. She was absolutely exceptional -- attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu, and had such a genuine, friendly energy that made the whole meal feel special. She checked in at all the right moments and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. It's rare to encounter service that truly elevates a dining experience, and Cher did exactly that. If you come here (and you should!), hope you're lucky enough to get Cher as your server. read more

We were off to a shaky start when the hostess asks us to "sit awhile". I asked her why and pointed to empty tables and she mumbled 'the kitchen" I said are you saying they are backed up? She said yes. I then said you can still seat us and we can have a cocktail while we wait. This kid had absolutely zero business being a hostess on an overly crowded day. And what kitchen doesn't prepare for a day like Mother's Day..but that's a them problem. The restaurant's decor really doesn't match the pricing. It's got more of a bar vibe than having $16 cocktails, $23+ starters and $30 entrees. The seats were shabby and worn, and the tables just looked utilitarian. Our server made up for it...was on top of ordering and very efficient. Can't remember her name but dark hair, cute with a septum piercing. She was calm and took a few extra measures to ensure our visit was nice. It was actually my sister's birthday and we had just lost our mother. All in all, I would go back but wish some of the profits would go into improving the ambiance. read more

I had such a great experience at Serendipity Cafe! From the moment we sat down, our server Gus made us feel so welcome. He was attentive, friendly, and just genuinely great at what he does it really elevated the whole visit. I ordered the club sandwich with fries. the fries were SO good. Perfectly crispy, seasoned just right, and honestly some of the best I've had in a while. The sandwich itself was delicious to fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Between the great food and Gus's phenomenal service, I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! read more

Came on a Saturday and was happy there was no wait. Lots of TVs on all walls with football, soccer, dateline, tennis, news ... So many choices! Had the spicy brisket omelette which was stuffed full - highly recommend! Hash browns we're crisp and lightly seasoned. Chicken fried steak and eggs was amazing and the sauce added the perfect flavor profile to top it all off. Will be back for sure! read more

Serendipity Cafe and Bar - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Moorpark, California

Came in on a Saturday late afternoon. We were looking for a place to have a meal and watch the Dodger game. I was surprised we were able to easily get tables in the bar area for our very large group. They have a pretty decent happy hour. Everything we ordered was good bar food and happy hour prices were great. It was a plus that we could sit and hang out to watch the game as well. Plenty of tvs so a good view no matter where you sit. Food didn't come out all at once so it wasn't until folks started getting their 2nd orders that we realized my husband and my orders never came. We were a large group but the restaurant was not busy. We have eaten here before on a Sunday and brunch was really great, so I'd come back for that but will skip coming for the bar food. read more

We had such an amazing experience at Serendipity, and a huge part of that was thanks to Gus! From the moment we sat down, he was incredibly attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. He made sure we had everything we needed without ever being overbearing, and his positive energy really elevated the whole experience. Gus went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of, and you can tell he truly cares about his guests. It's rare to come across service like that these days. If you're lucky enough to have Gus as your server, you're in great hands. We'll definitely be back! read more

My bro and I are not from the area - we were just in the area to golf and two gentleman gave us this recommendation after our golf round. It was quite empty when we came in (we came in on a Tuesday at around 4:30pm) and it was luckily happy hour! There were some great deals on there! Our server Naidene (I'm sorry if I spelled her name wrong) was super helpful and very attentive to us knowing we've never been before. We ordered off the happy hour menu - brisket sandwiches & ahi poke nachos - all recommendations from our server and everything tasted great!! If I'm ever back in the area I'd love to try the other items on the menu! read more

Went with a party of 4 at 3pm on a Sunday. It's nice they have happy hour every day from 2-6. I got the brisket sandwich and my friend got the club sandwich. We were happy they were out of chips and had French fries instead. We split the sandwiches so we could try both. Brisket sandwich was a surprise favorite! Like REAL thick cut of brisket. Melted cheese, onion and just the right amount of sauce. I loved my fries and ate those first. Club sandwich was one of the best. Nice 3 pieces of sourdough. Perfect ratio of tomato, lettuce, bacon, turkey in every bite. BONUS they serve breakfast all day. 2 of us got sandwiches and 2 got breakfast. Cher was a super sweet server. It was an off hour but she was slammed with a big team coming in. There was another server helping but it seemed like Cher was doing all the hustling. I wish I wasn't driving and I wish I was a drinker. I would love to try their epic glass. read more

Came for our family brunch for my daughter's 21st birthday. We want to pick a place that serves alcohol and this place hit the mark!! We had a large group and the service was on point and we could not be happier. We loved the relaxed upscale style of the place that made it feel special. Everyone loved the food and had a great time but the start of the show is the giant mimosa!!! It was a huge hit and everyone in our group was able to have a glass and toast!! read more

I ordered from Serendipity Café again--this time through Grubhub instead of dining in--and it was just as amazing as I remembered! My kids absolutely loved their eggs, pancakes, and waffles, and bacon,my husband devoured his blueberry pancakes, and I couldn't get enough of mine either. The margarita to-go was the perfect finishing touch! Everything arrived fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. This place is quickly becoming our new go-to restaurant for delicious breakfast and brunch--whether we're eating in or ordering at home. Highly recommend! read more

Go for the potato chips! The homemade potato chips that come with their burgers and sandwiches are amazingly delicious. Thin and crispy and cooked to perfection tin. Always check your receipt before paying! I've been twice and was scammed twice. The first time it was myself and a friend a few years ago, and we split the bill. The waiter was friendly, took our cards to split the bill and charged us at our table. It wasn't until I saw the charge on my card that I realized $60 was far too expensive for my share, so I checked the emailed receipt. my friend and I had two salads and mimosas, but we were also charged for three other full meals. I called to get a refund and was told I would need to come in to talk to the manager. The manager told me he can't refund me until I get the people who ordered those meals to come in and pay. What?? There were no other people with us. I don't know who ordered that food. The waiter that had helped was working so I called him over at which point he admitted to overcharging. I ended up getting the refund but felt this was a regular practice. Last weekend we gave them another chance and went for brunch to watch football games. Since I remembered our last experience, I made sure to check the receipt. when I caught multiple items on the receipt priced higher than the menu, I called the waitress over. without even looking at the menu or receipt she said "oh we had changed the menu those are the correct prices on the receipt," so again, that automatic response makes it seems like this is common practice and they hope you won't notice. I told her she needs to change the prices to what's in the menu, and it saved us $70 read more

SERVICE: I chose this place due to location, its menu and ambience. Server was attentive. Place was clean. Tons of tvs to view if seeking an elegant sport bar vibe. Prices were a hair higher than I thought they would be. Not many folks inside so finding a seat seems easy. Parking too is easy as it's located in a shopping plaza. FOOD: I went with the blueberry pancakes and sides which I enjoyed. The Mango Tango Margarita was fine. However, the omelet was terrible and couldn't put their finger on why. Maybe the meat or cheese - and I forget which one it was. WELL: Will for sure return. read more

After a long baseball game with 10 kids and all their parents in tow, we rolled into Serendipity starving and fully expecting chaos -- but Gus absolutely saved the day. From the moment we sat down, Gus was amazing. He took every order (and there were a lot) at lightning speed, never missed a detail, and somehow managed to keep both the kids and the adults happy the entire time. He was attentive, thoughtful, patient, and everything you could possibly want in a server. Handling a whole youth baseball team is no small task, but Gus made it feel effortless -- and the way he kept the parents' drinks refilled was the icing on the cake. Thank you, Gus! You're the best, and we'll definitely be back. read more

Overpriced for what you get. Service is slow because fewer servers from lack of customers

Returned to Serendipity- this time meeting a friend for breakfast. We got there just after opening at 7:15. The parking lot and the restaurant were both empty (not so by the time we left - both pretty crowded). Rene showed us to our table, brought the menus, and took our drink orders right away. Service remained very good throughout the meal. I ordered the Meat Lover Omelet ($20). A side of fruit was a $2 add on so I opted for potatoes. The omelet was huge and so loaded with meats - almost to a fault. The side of potatoes was also huge. No way I could finish it in one sitting. My buddy got a waffle ($16) which he said was very good. It is a bit pricey for an informal breakfast place but the quality of the food and the service were both quite good. read more

Overpriced as all hell. Canned corned beef, bulk kraft mac and cheese, and filled with the trashiest people Moorpark has to offer.

this place had potential... 3 restaurants closed within 6 months..(same owners).....driving fancy cars... no effort (face) put in to what could have been the best spot in moorpark ... sad... we will miss Serendipity... use to be "the Grinder" was there for 15 years.... Tried this place for breakfast. Our server Rene (I think) was very attentive. I ordered country fried steak and that was good. The serving is big and I didn't even finish all of them. I ended up giving it to my husband so he can finish it. Another thing that I like is the fact that if you order coffee, they leave you a small coffee carafe so you can refill your cup anytime you want. I took a star off because my husband ordered chicken linguini and that wasn't good. I also asked for a receipt and that took 20 minutes. I will probably come back if I'm in the area read more

Our Corvette Club has a monthly "run" and always ends up at a restaurant. This month, we chose The Serendipity Cafe & Bar as we try to support our county's small/local businesses as often as possible. We understand that to have more than 30 people show up at the same time is a big ask, and as a result, we are always patient. This time we didn't have to be! Our waiter, Gus, was fabulous! The food was out fast and still hot. The service was incredible. Gus was wonderfully kind and efficient. He even happily did separate checks for us. No problem! We will definitely be returning. Thank you, Gus and The Serendipity, for a wonderful experience! Janelle Ojai, CA read more

This place was okay. I expected a bit more as it has five stars but it was pretty basic. I made reservations online the night before which was really nice and helpful. It's not too hard to find and there is tons of parking. Online reviews said Sunday lines could be crazy even with reservations but we were able to walk right in and get seated. It was busy so reservations are probably a good idea but I don't think we needed them. The place is very much a sports bar which I want expecting but it doesn't make it a bad thing. The person who sat us was our waitress. She checked on us quite a few times and was patient with my questions on the menu. As for the food it was pretty average. We ordered a pancake breakfast and corned beef hash and eggs with double chocolate chips. The corned beef hash is canned which is my favorite but this one was a little weird tasting- had a seasoning or flavor in it that I didn't quite like. The double chocolate chip pancakes looked great but were really dry. They were much better once I added a bit of butter and syrup but I don't think I would order them again. The food came with "red potatoes" which were really good. They were a little over seasoned. Some had way too much pepper and some too much salt but if you mix them up together, the flavor was super delicious. So those have a mixed review from me. I ordered regular coffee which was awful. I know they have fancy coffees but there were no refills so I thought I would just go basic. It tasted like watery burnt bottom of the pot coffee. My daughter ordered strawberry lemonade and it was really delicious. I'm glad I tried the place, but I don't think I would come back. read more
