First Visit - Definitely Coming Back This was my first time at Junkyard in Simi Valley, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the fish & chips, stinking fries, chicken Parmesan, and the Godfather sandwich, paired with a Cactus Cooler and a MadeWest Hazy IPA. Everything was excellent--from the crispy, flavorful fries to the perfectly cooked chicken Parmesan and hearty sandwich. You can tell they take pride in the quality and consistency of their food. What really stood out was the service. Anastasia was outstanding--she gave great recommendations, explained the local favorites, and made sure we had everything we needed. True 5-star service from start to finish. It's not easy to find a place that delivers both great food and great service, but Junkyard absolutely does. I love everything about this restaurant been coming here since my son was born. (5/6 years) every time we see something new. We try new things and enjoy the fun. It's a unique expirience for sure. First of many anticipated dinner and a show evenings at the Junkyard Cafe. We went to see the magic show. Shawn McMaster was fantastic ! He is a very talented magician, charismatic, funny, and engaging. The service was very good, Unfortunately, I did not get our server's name. I really enjoyed the chicken pesto pizza . Delicious. One of those old-school spots that I try to keep open as much as possible! Not from Simi or anywhere near it but was at the Reagan library and decided to pop over for dinner. Had a FEAST! - Irish Nachos: Crisp kettle chips with chili, cheese and onions. Delectable! Was surprised at the quality of the chili - Hatch Green Chile Burger: Juicy patty, nice bun, fresh toppings, wish there was more Green Chile cause the flavor paired great with the burger - Reuben Sandwich: Corned beef was nice and tender. Wish the bread was crispier but took leftovers home and crisped up the bread a little extra till it was perfect. Loved the quality of the swiss and kraut - Had two GIANT beers as well All of this food and beer came out to like $60. A steal for the quality and portion size. It's a shame I don't live nearby cause I'd be here every week. Every server was also super gracious. Came by every couple minutes to check that we're good or to take away plates. This review is based on a to go order. I called and ordered a scrap heap, eggs cooked sunny side up with hash browns and I asked for a side of salsa. I was told 15 minutes and my order would be ready. I arrived about 3 minutes early. I was greeted immediately and the hostess went to the kitchen she and came back with my order. I paid and when I arrived at my destination, I opened the bag. There was napkins and plastic ware in the bag. I opened my container to find a large flour tortilla with hash browns, topped with cheese, and 2 perfectly cooked over easy eggs. 2 sausage links and 2 strips of bacon. They also included 2 containers of house made salsa. I received exactly what I ordered. The cheesy hash browns with the broken egg yolks and for a fantastic bite. The saltiness of the bacon and the slightly sweet sausage bites really complemented the dish. The salsa added a nice touch of heat. read more

The weight staff set a sick couple of women next to myself and my child and I had to just cover her up for the rest of the time This is the pile of gristle and fat I was served when I sent back and over done steak. I brought it home for my dogs because the waitress was so pissed the first time I sent it back I was not interested in getting worse service so I just called it. Way down hill for a weekend when this was my favorite place The mashed potatoes had chunks of boiled potato in them, but it was more like hot potato salad. Junkyard Breakfast is a hidden little spot tucked on the backside of the complex--easy to miss, but worth finding. Service was friendly and helpful. I specifically asked if the biscuits and gravy were good and was told they were made fresh, which showed. They were comforting, well-seasoned, and hit the spot. The Villa Poncho burrito is massive. We shared one and still had leftovers, which says a lot. Definitely built for sharing and great value for the portion size. She is very attentive, friendly, and makes it feel so welcoming! She is very quick with anything needed. Kinda fun, kinda quirky, kinda random and very hidden. When you don't know the area, the restaurant is in the back of a parking lot. There was a lite up sign, but still easy to miss. Clearly the locals know this spot. I heard it's quite popular and well know, but also had some doubts on quality and service from friends whom have visited numerous times. Luckily, we had great service for a medium sized party on a Saturday night. The food was ok (pretty average). The desserts were the best items (I only had a bite of others orders). Most impressive was the hand written menu!!! Wow, so creative, so much to choose from. I seriously wanted to read each item and the description. I have been to the Junkyard many of times with my small Service dog and if I'm given a booth which I prefer, my dog sits in it with me due to the severity of my disability. I have gone to many many 5 star restaurants and have always had her in the booth with me. She does not eat from the table nor even touch it as she was trained. I've had her as a Service dog for 4 years now and she goes everywhere with me. Yet the last visit my boyfriend took us too, the snooty manager made me put her on the floor or leave. We were halfway through our meal! How the hell is my dog going to help me from there? I felt so dismissed and discriminated against! Great job lady manager! Junkyard has an insane menu, no getting around it. You had better love to read descriptive comments about the cuisine they serve, or don't bother with their fun menu's. The decor is just as wacky, maybe eclectic is a better description, maybe, but we all love what they've done with the dining areas and the bar. During their weekly happy hour, They are home to $1 street tacos and $1 pizza slices, $5 margaritas and $1 off beer and wine. The bar area is always hoppin' with new and longtime customers and Feliz will always keep your glass full! Margaritas and street tacos - choice among carne asada, chicken or carnitas yesterday - BOMB! But the draft Stella in an iced cold chalice and 2 slices of pizza right from the oven - no chain restaurant can compete! I love Evelyn and Tony too so I go there just to see them! This was my second time eating here, but first time for breakfast on a Saturday. Overall, this is a welcoming and hospitality place in Ventura County. There is plenty of parking and seating for any size groups. I was here for a private Toastmasters meeting and we were serviced very well with the waitresses. They provided menus for breakfast and lunch and even minimized interruptions during our Toastmaster club meeting. The WiFi works well if you need to host an online and in-person meeting. The food and drinks are made fresh and come in large portions. I highly recommend this place for large groups or a casual brunch or lunch with the family or friends. read more

I visited the Junkyard Cafe for the first time last Sunday. The location I remember being the old Paul's Italian Villa, which I truly miss. I love the Junkyard's chaotic, messy ambiance and all the great stuff garage sale-type junk hanging everywhere. Reminds me of TGI Fridays when they first opened. A fun, relaxed atmosphere. Staff and service were very good on my visit. I ordered the Corned Beef Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was tasty and creamy. (For Eggs Benedict lovers, however, I have to say that the best Hollandaise sauce, hands down, is at Side Street Cafe in Newbury Park.) The corned beef was tender and plentiful. It was served over two large slices of rye bread. It would have been a prettier dish (and easier to eat) if they had cut those slices into triangles and arranged the eggs and beef over that instead of the big slabs of bread, which get immediately soggy. I will definitely go back because I saw many other things I would like to try on their incredibly diverse menu. On the subject of the menu, that was definitely a high point to read! So many options and cute little nuggets of wisdom scrawled on its many pages. read more

There's so much stuff on the wall in the ceilings, every time we come in, we spot something new. We did have a problem with the bacon (did not taste right), and reading other comments, it seems to be a recurring theme. Management should probably change out their bacon supplier. We were in the area for a football game so we showed up unannounced with a pretty large group. We were seated immediately without problems. The place was pretty eclectic with random things hanging from the wall and ceiling. First I wasn't to say our service was amazing. The staff really took care of us. I think we had 16 including several high school boys. We never waited. She split the check for our families. The food was hit or miss. The appetizers were great. The Pizza was great. Every time we visit the Junkyard Cafe, it never disappoints. Love the vibe and the blatant refusal to conform to esthetics of a proper restaurant. I write this with nothing but affection. To me, it embodies the essence of what Simi Valley is....or once upon time was, before all the McMansions. Come as you are, everyone is welcome for some good drinks and food at a very decent price. Staff is so down to Earth it feels like you are walking into a friends house for a meal. We went around noonish for brunch and waited about 15 minutes for a table, which is in my opinion, not bad for a Sunday. The menu is as eclectic as the ambiance. Don't forget to ask for the breakfast menu, they will give you one if you prefer it. Caesar salad can feed three people and comes in a serving bowl size. Pizza is made from scratch and you can definitely tell the difference. Tri tip sandwich comes stuffed with meat The Mac n cheese is awesome and comes with bacon bits inside. Tried to take more pictures of the food but my family was pretty hungry If you are looking for a fun place to have a meal in Simi Valley, Junkyard is the place to go. There's always going to be the mixed reviews of places. But based on our experience, it was great. Still early for the dinner rushed as it was right about happy hour. We got seated right away in the bar area. It was our first time here so didn't know what to expect. Once seated, we did noticed the restaurant part. It was that busy and only another couple was utilizing it. But the whole bar counter was full as well as some of the booth where we were seated. Staff were amazing, very friendly and attentive. The lady that took care of us was awesome, didn't remember her name but she was great. Checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and if anything else was needed. Also, it happened to be a day where one of the alcohol founder was there. He walked around giving samples which was great. We even had a cocktail made from his liquor. Food wise, we had the calamari which was quite good. Portion wise was pretty plentiful. The fish and chips were great. Instead of the chips, we opted for the tater tots. And the chicken Parmesan, very filling. A good portion on both the pasta and chicken. Service was great, food was good and the whole vibe was amazing. It's a cool spot that we happened to find on Yelp and glad we stopped in. Also, had to send the place out to a couple of friends who would definitely love it here. Third time in a month, everything was very well made & yummy, the Margarita Calzone with added pepperoni was amazing, cannot get enough of the onion rings, ordered them all three times, big & crispy. The chicken wings are huge and very yummy!, Bowl of chili, although the chili was real good, I was expecting some spice based on what the menu indicated, it was not even mild, it had flavor, but not one ounce of heat, I think the cook forgot the spice in this patch!. I even got the fried jalapeno as an added item, was not hot!., the jalapeno was more roasted then fried!. Service was awesome all three times. Really underwhelmed with our dinner and our past couple visits. Both food and service were mediocre at best this last time. Not sure how many servers we ended up having but it was a decent amount. No good bye from our first server. Food was pretty abysmal for what is usually a good Smelly Shelly burger. I reluctantly didn't complain and ate as much as I could. I ended up being honest with the server who was in return honest with me. They had been "locked out of their food locker". So they had to substitute all ingredients and try to make due. It was quite obvious. The fries were so terrible they tasted dry and reheated. Not even salted. Daughters noodles were meh. She wasn't too impressed it seemed either. The pizza was the best item but just found it okay. Not really sure what has happened to this establishment since moving here but not a place I seek to dine at any more. Definitely do not recommend it to out of towners. Cleanliness and consistency is sketchy. read more
