Man working the front (tom?) is awful. About 10 people walked in and walked out (as he lied about a hour wait and laughed to the cooks about how he was lying about the hour wait) and he was so rude to every single one of us... left us in awe by his behavior . If you care about your business you should not let him work the front. All us strangers bonded in there about how we were treated by this man who was to overwhelmed by his job to even be nice. I really like the food here, the quality shows when you order simple things like the Biscuits and gravy or brussels sprouts, each time they are the same and each time they are very good. Ordered the brisket breakfast burrito but man, I couldn't get passed the raw garlic flavor in the sauce. I'm assuming this is the house "Strand sauce"? It basically tasted of crema or yogurt and a ton of raw garlic. I love garlic, but this was sooo strong, especially for breakfast. I couldn't taste anything else in the burrito but garlic. I'm still tasting it 12 hours later. Also, very little potato. I think I got some in the first couple of bites, but that's it. The brisket was a lot of fat. I'm guessing they use the less desirable pieces of brisket for the breakfast burrito and the better cuts for their sandwiches and other plates. Anyways, unless you want to taste raw garlic all day, and gnaw on fatty brisket, then this wasn't worth it. Also, thanks for the thimble of ketchup when I asked for hot sauce. read more

Food was bland and gross. Worst of all was the front counter guy. Was turning costumers away by telling them if they ordered they would be waiting close to an hour for any of the food and then was telling the cooks how his plan was working to get people to not order. We stayed and ordered and he practically threw a tantrum the entire time. I ended up asking him towards the end what was up with the attitude he had the entire time and he responded with "dude I'm kidding I'm just kidding". Screwing his daughter, the owner, out of money from orders and faking being a tough local is a bad look. This place screams hangover food in the best way possible -- loaded fries, fried Brussels sprouts, huge "strandwiches", breakfast burritos/sandwiches, and more. This past July 4th I made it a mission to finally go to this place albeit quite an interesting path to get here. You follow Victoria all the way literally till it ends and then you have to turn a bit to the left. Initial confusion subsided cause there is the strand shop and the Strandwich which is right behind it. It's a very small place with a few tables inside and a few picnic style tables outside. When I went inside to order if you have a line of two or three people it will be either spilling to the dining room or you have to hold the door open it's literally that small. I am immediately saw an amazing looking hunk of dry rubbed cooked meat in the kitchen and ordered a tri-tip sandwich for breakfast. Paid my $18 and after about 15 minutes got my sandwich. As pictured the sandwich not only looked phenomenal but tasted delicious as well and would easily be one of my top 10 sandwiches of all time if not for one thing that keeps haunting me and seems to follow me wherever I go to eat meat sandwiches and that is.. drum roll.. the meat had to be spit out and picked apart over and over again from the fatty unchewable lumps, stringed fat and sinew. Really too bad because the meat is cooked and seasoned perfectly with charred bits. It was a sensational tasting sandwich with the horseradish aioli. I added my own touch by adding lettuce tomatoes and pickles; came out to be quite an epic sandwich but again all ruined by spitting out pretty much every single piece of meat that I put in my mouth and having to remove a bunch of fat and separate the meat to enjoy eating about half of it. I just for the life of me cannot understand why these meats aren't properly cut to not include these fatty parts; it's not that difficult and would gladly wait for this to be done. Really bummed. The other items look pretty good but wont dare touch the pastrami would probably have the same problem if not worse. But their breakfast sandwiches and other items looked really appealing. It is a very cute and quaint area inside and I'm pretty sure the other stuff would taste great. Will be back to try the other items but unfortunately I cannot eat this sandwich again. I was really primed to like this place: I love smoked meat. It has a cool, funky beach vibe. I'm a sucker for a corny, punny business name. My wife and I got there about 11:45 on a Friday. There were a handful of people at the outside picnic tables and a few more inside. I ordered the pulled pork sando. My wife ordered tritip. After we paid, the guy who took our order told us there would be a 30-35-minute wait "because we're pretty backed up." We were surprised -- and my wife was hungry -- but we rolled with it. After looking at every item in the second-hand shop next door and taking a walk, we came back 35 minutes later only to find there were two still orders ahead of ours. My wife sat down outside but I hung around the counter so I could bring her her sandwich as soon as it was ready. While I was there I heard the harried cook trash talking both the counter guy and me! Anyway, we finally got the food and the counter guy thanked me for my patience. The pulled pork was fine, but the tritip was overcooked, tough and...it made my wife sick for the rest of the day. I've had several sandwiches, most recently the brisket sandwich. I prefer the brisket breakfast sandwich on a croissant over the lunch one. Good smoke taste. The egg and cheese hit right. The lunch brisket has bbq sauce. while it was good, lacked more flavor or imagination. plan for a wait. usually 10 to 15 minutes if you order at the place. The food is diverse, fresh, and delicious. The brisket is tasty with a hint of sweetness and they do fries right. They have the usual sodas and water, along with some Hawaiian teas and nectars.
