I placed a pick-up order for the sole purpose of trying their cinnamon roll. I had heard so many people rave about this so I had to come and try it for myself. I paid $10.77 for the cinnamon roll and when calling they ask if you want it heated it up or cold. The roll was perfectly warm, nicely layered with icing, and perfectly fluffy. We passed by on the weekend and there was a crowd waiting outside. We decided to try again early on Monday morning. Thank goodness, we got a table quickly. This is a quaint restaurant with a very friendly staff. We were first introduced to this lovely cafe last year on a visit to my daughter. We loved the food then, and were happy to make another visit. I still love the food and the waitresses. However they get so busy now that the customer service really suffers. I went the other day on a Monday and it was quoted a 20-25 minute wait. We wait 35 minutes to be seated. Another 15-20 minutes to get our order taken. Another 15-30 minutes until our food came out. And then one of our orders were was wrong and we had to get everything to go as they had taken so long. It just isn't the same casual, fun atmosphere where you can wait a few minutes, get a table, order food and receive it all within 30 minutes any more. The food is still delicious though so at least that has absolutely not budged. However I will also mention that often, when they are busy, the bussers (?) (girls who bring drinks ms and clear tables) are not patient or kind-they don't even make eye contact with you so you can't ask them anything. Miss the old vibes. read more

Came Saturday morning. While there was a long line, our party of 2 was seated immediately at the bar. The bar only has alcohol, no cold coffees unfortunately. Spicy Mexican Benedict- the hollandaise was good, but I'm hesitant to actually call it a hollandaise. It's an entirely new sauce. The chorizo was great. The o'brian potatoes were my favorite part. I came to Art's specifically for their homemade cinnamon roll and it did not disappoint. The inside was oh so ooey gooey and the frosting had that quality homemade consistency - not the sometimes stale flakiness that you get elsewhere. Along with that I got a side of hash browns which wasn't anything special but still a good breakfast staple. Our waitress served us quickly and was very friendly. The inside and outside was super cute like modern diner vibes, and the colors were everything. They have an outdoor seating area which looked nice but it was pretty warm that day so we opted to sit inside. I know this sounds crazy, but I had never been to this restaurant, even though it's just a short walk from my house. Now that I've been there, I'm so glad I finally went! My wife and I were out of town with our pup and we were looking for a dog friendly spot in Ventura. We found this spot on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Ok, this review will be a little long, but they are Worth It! First, the owner Raul and his staff went out of their way to seat us because our pup (7mo MinPin) is still learning to be social. Once seated, the staff worked as a team to serve and accommodate their patrons. Patio is tight, but the owner was constantly working the umbrellas to keep everyone comfortable. Now for the Food...I can firmly say, I am an expert when it comes to Country Fried Steak and gravy. (Im a Texan) As I have posted before, my all time favorite in Cali is The Stove in Mammoth Lakes. But, I'm sorry, Art's has now topped #1 for Country fried steak! Their's is just about as close to what my Granny made. The Gravy...10+! O'Brien potatoes perfectly cooked and the Biscuit... Perfection! The High roller was the cinnamon roll (Again, now my #1 in SoCal). Lastly, the Coffee was a deep dark brew they get from Santa Barbara which for me was icing on the experience. Sorry I didn't take more photos, but I will definitely drive the 2 hours and stop in when in Ventura. This place is a MUST TRY! A follow-up visit was nowhere as near as good as the first one. Brought the family, regrettably. Hash browns were either undercooked and greasy or over-panned to death to the point there were burnt. The biscuits underneath the country breakfast were abysmal. Sausage patty was also overcooked and burnt. As usual the Yang to my Yin presents its ugly head every second visit I go to any food establishment. Wanted to try someplace different and I believe we came here when it had a different ownership. The place was very crowded but we only had to wait about 5 minutes and this was a Monday. It was extremely loud when we got there but when the Birthday party left, quoted down. We were served coffee right away, but the mugs are very small. Coffee was good not excellent. I was passing through town and decided to stop in because I had heard that they have one of the best Cinnamon Rolls around, which is enough to get me to stop anywhere. They have a large menu filled with all sorts of great options so it took some time to choose what we wanted to order. We had heard about their Cinnamon Roll, so decided to start off with that and can honestly say it is very good. The thing I like most about it is that it is homemade and almost has a brioche taste to it, but the icing itself is very light and really easy to eat it almost too fast. I would highly recommend ordering it. For my breakfast, I chose the Spicy Mexican Benedict and really enjoyed it. I am a sucker for anything with chorizo and avocado so when I saw that combination, it was a no-brainer for me. Overall, it was really good and cooked perfectly and I was very happy with it.
