Once again another 5 star review! Got to see my favorite waitress Sandra who is such a Joy to see with that big beautiful smile and a great big hug and not to mention another absolutely delicious breakfast! BTW thank you for the discount on our meal because of tax season ( How gracious of you! )

Tucked in the corner of a small shopping center sits a humble old-school diner that may look plain from the outside, but oh my--what a hidden gem! We arrived about 20 minutes before closing, and the staff were still so gracious and welcoming, seating us without hesitation. Stepping inside instantly gives off a cozy, nostalgic diner vibe. The menu offers hearty breakfast and lunch classics--everything from chicken-fried steak and omelets to sandwiches and burgers. My friend ordered the chicken-fried steak made with chicken (9/10), while I got Beth's Skillet--a generous mix of eggs, ham, potatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and smothered in delicious gravy (10/10). The portions were huge, and everything tasted homemade and comforting. The staff were all exceptionally courteous and attentive, even so close to closing time. Overall, this little diner serves big flavor and even bigger hospitality. I'd absolutely love to return and try more from their menu!

    Half eaten Country Breakfast
    Callista F.

I had the Country Breakfast while I was ravenously hungry. It didn't disappoint. They dowse the biscuits and with gravy, which was heavenly for this southern girl. I added pepper and Tabasco, but it did already have a good flavor profile. The friends that accompanied me all enjoyed their dishes, too. It's a cozy atmosphere with outdoor and indoor seating. They have a model train on a little track connected to the ceiling inside, it's cute.

Country Fried Steak half portion that I split with my wife
    Mike T.

Our friends brought us here for breakfast. My wife and I decided to split the country fried steak and eggs. The server was super nice enough to split the country fried steak for us. I ordered an extra plate of eggs and hash browns which ended up being just the right amount of food. I'm glad I didn't get my own order because there is no way I would be able to eat the entire thing. The hash browns and eggs were good. Cooked just how we ordered. I wasn't that impressed with the country fried steak. It was Okay but I have had better. Our friends let me try the house made corned beef hash and that was fantastic. I would order that next time.

Breakfast burrito with chorizo and hash browns inside
    Persis R.

Stopped into Café 126 for breakfast and it really hit the spot. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo and hash browns (off the menu, not the early bird special) along with a cup of coffee. The coffee was solid and came with real half and half that was actually chilled -- such a small detail but it makes a big difference, and I appreciated it. The chorizo breakfast burrito was amazing -- super filling, packed with flavor, and definitely one I'd come back for again. Service was great too. My waitress was attentive and kept checking in without being overbearing. The place has a comfortable vibe, perfect for an early morning meal before starting the day. Definitely a spot I'll be revisiting in Santa Paula.

Chicken Fried Steak: Was gnimorous and pretty good. My only complaint was the accompanying hash browns were a little burnt. Otherwise, ordering on the phone was easy, and the waitress was very friendly and helpful! I'd highly recommend!

My husband got the Mexican mocha and said it was good, but both our drinks had way too much ice. We also ordered sausage and egg croissants. They offer a number of drinks & coffee, and pastries as well but I ordered their Bisco latte/cookie butter latte and this did not disappoint. I've never had anything like this before I loved how rich the Biscoff flavor was and they also add some kind of a special Hawaiian milk to it which I didn't mind but I also asked for this to be made in almond milk as well with no whipped cream. The moment I took a sip it was just Rich flavors bursting in my mouth. The only problem that I had with this place is that it's not closer to me, which is in the South Bay. I've visited both the Ventura and the Thousand Oaks locations, and my experience has been consistent. To me, this is a high-end Dunkin' Donuts and I don't even go there. The last time I had Dunkin' was about five years ago back home in Minnesota. I don't enjoy it because it tastes more like sugar with a splash of coffee rather than actual coffee and that's exactly how I feel about this place. I honestly don't understand why it's so popular. Most of the drinks taste extremely sweet. If you're looking for a sugary treat, a cheat-day drink, or something for your birthday, then this might be your spot. But if you genuinely enjoy coffee and want something balanced and bold, this probably isn't it. The only drinks I would personally order again are the cold brew or the Maui Mocha and even then, they're still on the sweeter side. One practical note: the Ventura location often has lines out the door. I'd recommend ordering online and picking up if you decide to try it. Overall, I'd say go try it for yourself but manage your expectations if you're a true coffee lover.

The breakfast sandwich was so big, I don't know how anyone realistically eats it without getting egg all over their face or the whole thing sliding out from the bread and falling apart. It's pretty, but so sloppy once you dig in. The green pesto looked amazing but ultimately lacked flavor. The pickled shallots that came with it was so overpowering, (and mind you...I love shallots!) but I have to remove some. I ended up deconstructing the sandwich and eating it like a bagel with too much topping. Not so much a sandwich. The over easy egg was pretty, but didn't add any benefit. Maybe over hard would be a better option. Friend got avo toast. Once again super pretty, but she could tell the sliced eggs weren't as fresh and again the pesto was pretty flavorless. Lots of salt and pepper and hot sauce needed for both our dishes. Bread were over toasted, so cuts to the mouth roof top. Lattes were pretty, but tiny and coffee was meh. One bathroom, long wait. Order at counter and find a seat. Wait for them to call your name to drop off your food, but if you don't hear them or there are others with the same name... you get the picture. It wasn't bad by any means, just not the flavor profile we were expecting. The Sunrise Burrito was the star of the show! The potatoes were perfectly seasoned, and it had some of the most delicious avocado I've ever had. Absolute perfection -- we'd come back just for that burrito alone. The coffees were excellent too -- strong, flavorful, and not overly sweet (no "syrup with a splash of coffee" here!). Overall, we were very satisfied. Our total was around $88 for three people, which is actually a pretty solid deal in Ventura. The service really stood out as well -- they were incredibly accommodating with our stroller and even made sure to keep the door closed since we were seated near the entrance so our baby wouldn't get cold. That level of thoughtfulness meant a lot. We'll definitely be back!
